Sajiv Sarin
February 14, 1958 - September 7, 2007

SHREWSBURY - Sajiv Sarin, 49, of Shrewsbury, has died and joined the Lord on Friday, September 7th.

He leaves his wife of 21 years, Linda E. Carpenter-Sarin; a daughter, Kristina F. Sarin; his mother, Raj (Kamal) Sarin; a brother, Rajiv Sarin; as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins living in the United States and in India. He was predeceased by his father, Giridhari Sarin who died in September of 1996.

Mr. Sarin began his studies at St. George's College in Mussoorie, India and completed his education in the United States when he graduated from New England College in 1985.

Sajiv had been employed as a software engineer for many years. He had worked for several companies in Massachusetts including, Digital, Compaq, and his last employment was with Stratus Technologies Inc. in Maynard.

He was a faithful member of Burncoat Baptist Church in Worcester where he was active in several ministries, including the coffee service ministry after morning worship. Sajiv also found time in his busy schedule to be involved with the Campus Ambassadors ministry at Worcester State College.

Sajiv was a very generous, kind, and compassionate soul, who lived his life very simply and enjoyed helping and making other people happy.

A Service of Celebration for Sajiv life will be held on Monday, September 10th at 11:30 A.M. in the Burncoat Baptist Church, 475 Burncoat Street, Worcester. I lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Burncoat Baptist Church, 475 Burncoat St. Worcester, MA 01606.

John Francis Scanlon
September 17, 1947 - December 19, 2005

AUBURN, MA - John F. Scanlon, 58, of 29B Warren Rd and formerly of Charlton died Monday, December 19th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves his three children, Sean F. Scanlon, and his fianc Christine Lowther of Union, CT, Heather K., wife of David Stelmach, and Claire J. wife of Scott Swenson, all of Auburn; his brothers, Joseph Scanlon of Woodstock, Thomas Scanlon of Sutton and Michael Scanlon of Littleton, NH and William Scanlon of China; his three grandchildren, Liam D. and Jillian R. Stelmach, and Hannah Mae Swenson; as well as several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Timothy Scanlon in 1995.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Dr. Joseph C. and Rita H. (Fleming) Scanlon, graduated from St. John's High School, where he co-captained the hockey team in 1965. He then entered the US Air Force and served as an Air/Sea Helicopter Rescue Medic. He earned his degree while serving in the Air Force stationed in Tampa, FL. John loved the 22 years he resided on the South Charlton Reservoir, where many wonderful family events happened. He returned to Auburn in .

Prior to his retirement in 2000, John worked as an insurance executive for the John Alden Insurance Co. for 12 years. Previously, he worked in management for the former Robinson Thread Co., Worcester for 13 years.

John enjoyed playing golf all over the USA, Mexico and Europe with his friends. He especially looked forward to the annual Chuck's Steak House Golf Tournament, which he participated in for over 14 years. He also enjoyed the Dirty Dozen Open each summer on Cape Cod with his high school friends.

He also enjoyed the annual West Palm Beach Florida trip with his two good buddies, Donny and Kosmo, where they were affectionately known as the "3 amigos" or the "Rat Pack". One of John's favorite foods was the chicken burritos made at Margarita Grill in Auburn. It is estimated that John ate more than 3500 of this delicacy in over 25 years. John was a devoted father and grandfather and loved them all dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, Dec. 21st from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 22nd from the funeral home with a Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02445-9924.

Ann B. (Prott) Schaefer

AUBURN, MA - Ann B. (Prott) Schaefer, 91 of Worcester, formerly of Auburn, died Thursday in St. Vincent's Hospital after an illness.
Her husband Otto Schaefer died in 1977
She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Schaefer, of Worcester with whom she lived, and Judith Fox, of Charlotte, S.C. Other survivors include a grandchild, two great grandchildren, and a niece.
She was born in New Jersey, the daughter of the late William and Elfrieda (VonTonnies) Prott. She was raised and educated in Weehawken, N.J. graduating from Weehawken high school. She attended Pace University.
Mrs. Schaefer was a resident of Auburn for nearly 60 years.
She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rainbow girls. She was an avid cook, and reader.
Her funeral and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
Donations in Anna's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn, will assist the family.

Gregory Anderson Scott
June 13, 1955 - September 3, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Gregory A. Scott, 51, of Shrewsbury, died Sunday, September 3rd at home.

He was the son of Clara Lea (Anderson) Scott of Mesa, Arizona and the late Ernest B. Scott. Besides his mother, Greg is survived by his two children, Heather Scott and Bryan G. Scott both of Northborough; his brother, Steven B. Scott of Pasadena, CA; his companion, Elaine Moreland of Greenwich, CT, and his former wife, Sandra (Clemens) Scott of Northborough. He was born and raised in Greeley, CO and later graduated with honors from the Missouri Military Academy, 1973 and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA in 1977. A longtime software engineer, Greg most recently was working for Update Logic in Southborough, MA. He loved to ski the mountains of Colorado, biking, golf, and enjoyed visiting Cape Cod. He was a BMW automobile enthusiast, and a member of the BMW Car Club of America, Boston Chapter. He served as newsletter editor for many years for the club. Greg also had several technical articles published in trade journals.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury on Thursday, September 7th from 6-8 PM. A funeral service honoring Greg will be held on Friday at 4 PM in the funeral home.

Donald A. Scott
December 29, 1937 - July 26, 2007

AUBURN, MA - Donald A. Scott, 69, of Leicester St., died Thursday at his life long family home.

He leaves his three children; Donna Lee Scott of Indio, CA, Johanne M. Scott-Purbaugh of Loveland, OH, and Alvar David Scott of Rancho Mirage, CA; his six grandchildren, Brandon J. Scott, Ashley E. Scott, Mallori M. Allen, Steven J. Moore, Colby E. Scott, and Kyle C. Moore. He was born in Worcester, the only son of the late Alvar K. and Elsie H. (Peterson) Scott and has lived in Auburn all of his life. He graduated from Auburn High School.

Donnie retired for the Laborer's Union, where he had worked for several different companies in the area. A loving father and devoted son, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, but most of all maintaining the lands around his home and being advocate for the conservation of these natural areas.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Donnie's children on Thursday, August 2nd from 10-11 AM in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home. Following cremation, burial in the Scott family lot in Hillside cemetery will be private. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn Police or Fire Departments.

Mary E. (Welsh) Shannon
November 5, 1927 - May 26, 2007

Auburn - Mary E. "Betty" (Welsh) Shannon, 79, formerly of Auburn, died Saturday in Knollwood Nursing home after a long illness.
She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 56 years, Mr. Joseph Shannon, of Auburn, and her children; Patricia A. Shannon of North Reading, Thomas F. Shannon of Auburn, Michael W. Shannon of Houston, TX, Kenneth J. Shannon of Aberdeen, MD, James E. Shannon of Medfield and Kathleen M. Fernandes of San Jose, CA. She also leaves 10 loving grandchildren.
She was born in Roslindale, the daughter of the late William and Cleota (Kossman) Welsh. She was educated in Roslindale Schools and graduated from the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in the Cadet program.
Mrs. Shannon worked at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in Shrewsbury. She then worked for many years in the maternity ward at City Hospital and later at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
She lived in Auburn for more than 50 years. The most important thing in her life was her family. When her children were small, she was involved in Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls and later she immensely enjoyed family camping and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and travelling with her husband.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5-8 PM Tuesday, in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held Wednesday from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

Helen Eloise (Jones) Shapter
November 1, 1909 - January 22, 2006

AUBURN, MA - Helen E. (Jones) Shapter, 96, of Bancroft Street, Auburn, formerly of Wayland and West Boylston, died Saturday, January 21st in the Life Care Center of Auburn after a brief illness.

Her husband, Paul W. Shapter, Sr. died in 2001. She leaves a daughter, Katherine Shapter of Auburn with whom she made her home; a son, Paul W. Shapter, Jr. and his wife, Constance A. Morrison of Ashland, New Hampshire; three grandchildren, Kevin H. Shapter of Marshfield, Laura Jainga of Puyallup, Washington, and Tracy A. Fisher of McDonough, Georgia; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William H. Jones and Norman K. Jones and two sisters, Katherine Olivia Small and Marian Virginia Moseley.

Mrs. Shapter was born in London, Ohio, daughter of the late Cary and Mary Elizabeth (Gamlin) Jones and had lived many years in Wayland and West Boylston before moving to Auburn in 1980. She graduated from London High School and attended Ohio State University.

Helen held several memberships including, being the founder and one of the original members of the Beaman Oak Garden Club in West Boylston, and a longtime member of the Wayside Inn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Sudbury. She also found time in her busy schedule to volunteer her time at the Veterans Administration Hospital's while she lived in Wayland.

Helen had a zest for life, and she loved having the company of family and friends around her at all times.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen's family on Tuesday, January 24th from 6-8 P.M. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A funeral service to celebrate Helen's life will follow at 8:00 P.M. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Beaman Oak Garden Club, c/o Erin Beardsley, 55 Hosmer Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.

JOHN P. SHEEHAN
August 16, 1929 - October 25, 2006

SHREWSBURY - John P. "Johnny" Sheehan, 77, of Gates Road, Shrewsbury died Wednesday, October 25th in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 26 years, Virginia M. (McSweeney) Sheehan; a sister-in-law, Christine Sheehan of Marlboro; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, James and Edward Sheehan and two sisters, Catherine Ballard and Margaret McCurdy.

John was born in Shrewsbury, son of the late Edward and Margaret (McGovern) Sheehan and had lived in Shrewsbury, before moving to Worcester and returning to Shrewsbury in 1987. He graduated from Major Beal High School in Shrewsbury.

Mr. Sheehan had been employed for 20 years at Worcester State Hospital and previously had worked for the Shrewsbury School Department for many years. After his retirement, he and his wife spent several months traveling across the United States.

He was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury. John also enjoyed spending time at the horse and dog tacks and casinos.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John's family on Sunday, October 29th from 4-7 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 30th at 10 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations in his memory can be made to the American Lung Association, 393 Maple Street, Springfield, MA 01105-1954.

Robert Louis Sherman
January 6, 1930 - February 3, 2006

MASHPEE / BOYLSTON - Robert L. "Bob" Sherman, 76, of Mashpee formerly of Boylston died Friday, February 3rd in his home after an illness.

He died in the loving care of his wife of 53 years, Mary (Noponen) Sherman. He leaves two daughters, Lucinda, wife of Steven Adams of Holden and Debra, wife of Gary Magiera of Northborough; two sons, Robert Sherman of San Diego, CA and Stephen Sherman of Mashpee; three grandchildren, Jason, Christopher and Stephanie and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph H. Sherman III.

Bob was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph H. Sherman, Jr. and Sophie (Ritter) Sherman. Mr. Sherman attended Worcester schools and graduated from Worcester Junior College and attended the University of Miami.

He worked for the YMCA in Worcester as a Youth Physical Director and for the State of Massachusetts as a Computer Systems Analyst, retiring in 1990. Bob enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing. He was a member long time member of St. Mary of the Hills Parish in Boylston and a recent member of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob's family on Sunday, February 5th from 3-6 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 6th at 10:30 AM in Saint Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston. A memorial Mass for Bob will be held at a later date in Christ the King Church in Mashpee.

Jane E. Shores
March 12, 1945 - August 8, 2007

CHARLTON, MA - Jane E. (Tellier) Shores, 62, of Charlton, died Wednesday August 8th in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester after being stricken ill at home.

She leaves her husband, Vernon E. Shores; her two sons, Vernon A. Shores, II and his wife Rhonda of Charlton, and Mark M. Shores of Webster; her sister, June C. White and her husband of Steve of Millbury; her three brothers, Robert E. Tellier, Sr. and his wife Mary-Ann of Charlton, William P. Tellier of Tennessee, and Joseph H. Tellier and his wife Nell of Alabama; her two grandchildren, Courtney M. Bachand and her husband of Matthew of Charlton, and Katelyn M. Shores of Charlton, as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan A. Bolduc.

She was born in Worcester and lived in Charlton for many years. She worked as a sales associate for the Hallmark Store in the Auburn Mall for several years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music, and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Services will be private.

Kayley Margaret Shultz
January 26, 2006 - January 26, 2006

WORCESTER - Kayley Margaret Shultz, infant daughter of Michelle F. Quinn and William F. Shultz, died Thursday, January 26th, the day she was born.

Besides her parents, she leaves her twin sister, Riley Ann Shultz; her maternal grandparents, Patty and Richard Quinn of Worcester; her paternal grandparents, Diane and Michael Drohan of Worcester; her aunts, Heather A. Quinn, Shannon T. Quinn and Keri T. Shultz; her uncles, Joseph T. Quinn and Michael D. Shultz; her maternal great grandparents, Frances and Herbert Knox of Worcester and Maybritt Quinn of Worcester; and her paternal great grandmother, Ethel Blondin of Worcester.

Funeral services will be private. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Helen M. (Cannon) Silva
May 21, 1933 - August 15, 2006

SHREWSBURY - Helen M. (Cannon) Silva, 73, of 9 Boston Drive, Shrewsbury died Tuesday, August 15th in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus after being stricken ill at home on Monday.

Her husband, Arnold J. Silva died in 1999. She leaves a son, William A. Silva of Shrewsbury; two brothers, William and Bernard Cannon of Scotland; three sisters, Jean McCauley, Margaret Lynch and Maureen Dougan all of Scotland. She was predeceased four brothers, James, Alec, Daniel, and Patrick Cannon.

Helen was born, raised and educated in Greenock, Scotland. She came to the United States in the early 1950's and had lived in Shrewsbury for many years.

She had worked as an assembler for 12 years at the Raytheon Corporation.

Helen was a member of Saint Mary's Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen's family on Thursday, August 17th from 6-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 18th at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 350 Plantation St. Worcester, MA 01604.
