Michelle Therese LaPierre
March 26, 1976 - June 9, 2006
NORTH OXFORD - Michelle Therese LaPierre, 30, of N. Oxford, and formerly of Sutton, died at home Friday after a long battle with cancer.
She leaves behind a daughter, Justina Michelle LaPierre, her parents Arnaud "Ron" and Carol LaPierre, all of North Oxford, a brother Scott LaPierre, of Boston, and her maternal grandparents Frank and Therese Fryzel, of Acushnet, as well as aunts uncles, and cousins.
First and foremost, Michelle was a loving and devoted mother. Facing illness, she defiantly continued to make sacrifices for her daughter, Justina, whom she loved very much.
Michelle Worked hard to educate and better herself and in 2004 earned a nursing degree from Assabet Valley. She dedicated herself to comforting those in pain at Radius Healthcare in Millbury.
Michelle fought cancer for two and a half years. For much of that time she continued her work at Radius. Her fiery blend of stubbornness, grace and strength was admired by friends and family.
Bertha I. (Modig) Larson
February 11, 1915 - April 11, 2007
SHREWSBURY / MILLBURY - Bertha I. (Modig) Larson, 92, of Shrewsbury formerly of Millbury died Wednesday, April 11th in Shrewsbury Nursing Home after an illness.
Her husband of Everett Larson died in 1977. She leaves a daughter, Eleanor B. and her husband, Robert A. Sargent, Sr., of Shrewsbury; a granddaughter, Debra Mead of Eastham and a grandson, Robert A. Sargent, Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida; five great grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Matthew, Nathan and Heidi; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Wahlstrom and three brothers, William, Herbert and Raymond Modig.
Mrs. Larson was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Carl and Tekla (Lindgren) Modig and had lived in Millbury for 85 years before moving to Shrewsbury.
Bertha was a charter member of former Raymond Memorial Congregational Church in Millbury and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star that is affiliated with the Olive Branch Lodge of Masons in Millbury. She had several hobbies including, making braided rugs, fishing, boating, cooking and spending her summers on Cape Cod.
Bertha's family wishes to thank the Nurses at the VNA Care Network in Worcester and the entire staff at Shrewsbury Nursing Home in Shrewsbury for taking such wonderful care of their mother and grandmother.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service for Bertha on Saturday, April 21st at 12 NOON in Worcester County Memorial Park, Richards Avenue, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Patient's Activity Fund at the Shrewsbury Nursing Home, 40 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury.
Daniel Peter Laukaitis
January 18, 1929 - January 5, 2007
AUBURN, MA - Daniel Peter Laukaitis, 77, of Woodland Road, passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Auburn, after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Antionette (Chickowski)
He leaves 4 children; Diane Doherty and her husband Philip, of Charlton, Chris Laukaitis, and his wife Lorre, of Chesapeake, VA., Daniel Laukaitis, and his wife Margaret, of Barre, and Daniel Szklarz, and his wife Carmella, of Worcester. He leaves 11 loving grandchildren and 1 loving great grandchild, a brother Edward Laukaitis, of Petersham, and his sisters Nancy Brosnan, of Worcester, Eleanor Mazzone, of Spencer, Genevieve "Jean" Berry, of Worcester, and Beverly Cox, of Springfield, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Patricia Geraway, and his brother Alphonse Laukaitis.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Peter G. and Olga (Davis) Laukaitis. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade school.
He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army; he fought in The Korean War.
He worked for Callahan Sheet Metal for many years. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers International. He was a life member of the Auburn Elks Lodge, the American Legion. He was a member of Saint Joseph's Church.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, an avid fisherman, hunter, and bowler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday from 4-6 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be held from the funeral home Monday with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre-Dame Cemetery. William F. "Bill" Lavigne, III
April 16, 1924 - February 11, 2006
AUBURN, MA - William F. "Bill" Lavigne III, 81, of Pakachoag Village, Auburn, died Saturday, February 11th in Millbury Health Care after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Blanche F. (Lange) Lavigne; His children, Mary A. Lasher and her husband, William of Lebanon, Ohio, William F. Lavigne and his wife, Kathleen of Dudley and Barbara L. Dacri and her husband Richard of Kennebunkport, Maine; also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Hearn, William F. Lavigne, V., Joseph Lasher and Michael Dacri; one great grandson, William F. Lavigne VI, and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Lavigne was born in Worcester, son of the late William F. Lavigne, Jr., and Corinne M. (Germain) Lavigne and had lived in Auburn for over 45 years. Bill was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran having served in European African Middle Eastern Theater.
Bill had been employed as a wire twister for the Anderson Brush Corporation in Worcester for 22 years before he retired in 1987. Previously, he had worked for Wyman Gordon for several years.
Mr. Lavigne was a member of the Auburn Senior Center, the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post # 279 and a lifetime member of the Century Sportsman's Club all in Auburn. Many years ago, the Auburn Community recognized Bill naming Lake Lavigne in his honor.
Bill also had several hobbies he enjoyed fishing, reading, storytelling and history.
A funeral Mass for Bill will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 11 A.M. in North American Martyr's Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. There are no calling hours. Burial will be convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center, 4 Goddard Drive, Auburn. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn is assisting the Lavigne Family with these arrangements.
Thomas Joseph Lavin
October 24, 1934 - February 8, 2007
AUBURN, MA - Thomas J. Lavin, 72, of Inwood Rd., died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 8th after being stricken ill.
He leaves his two sons, Thomas D. Lavin, his wife, Laura and their 3 sons, Thomas, Brian and Michael, with whom he lived, and Jeffrey J. Lavin and his wife Priscilla and their children Josie and Jack of Leicester; and his special new friend, Murphy. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph and Julia V. (Gearin) Lavin and lived in Auburn for many years. He graduated from North High School where he was played several varsity sports and was a member of the intercity school championship football team. He later attended Worcester Junior College. He then served in the US Army for several years following the Korean War.
Mr. Lavin was a self employed carpet sales & service technician for many years. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Hillcrest Country Club, Leicester. For many years, he coached Little League Baseball, hockey and Pop Warner Football teams in Auburn. Known as "Grandpa" to so many, Tom was always willing to talk about sports and lend a listening ear, especially with his grandsons that lived with him. He also was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan. He was a member of the Main South American Legion Post, Worcester.
Relatvies and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, Feb. 11th from 2-5 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 12th from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Main South American Legion Post, Worcester.
Phyllis Lavoie
October 8, 1919 - December 13, 2005
WORCESTER - Phyllis (Proulx) Lavoie, 86, of 555 Plantation Street, a former Shrewsbury resident, was called home to God Tuesday, in The Hospice Residence at Coes Pond, surrounded by her family. Her Husband, Dr. Robert J. Lavoie died in 1988
She is survived by her children; Robert Lavoie, of Coos Bay OR, Elizabeth George of Spencer, Denise Duffy of Shrewsbury, Francine Carroll of Shrewsbury, and John Lavoie of Worcester. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, and a brother, Dr. William Proulx, of Campbellsburg, KY and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a Son, Paul G. Lavoie, and a Daughter, Suzanne Coviello, as well as a Brother Alfred C. Proulx.
She was born in W. Warwick, RI the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Angelina (St. Germaine) Proulx. She graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and worked for many years in its Neo-Natal unit. Later she worked with her Husband in his medical practice.
She was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Shrewsbury and Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Worcester. She was an avid golfer.
Her funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Virginia (Johnson) Leach
January 13, 1920 - April 30, 2007
AUBURN, MA - Virginia (Johnson) Leach, 87, of Wallace Avenue, died Monday, April 30th in the Life Care Center of Auburn.
She leaves her beloved husband of 65 years, Norman T. Leach; her loving children, James T. Leach and his wife Nora of Auburn, and Joan E. Adams and her husband James of Holden; her four adoring grandchildren, Jeffrey T. Adams and his wife Michelle, Jennifer Farrell and her husband Timothy, Maribeth and Kathryn Leach; her two great grandchildren, Taylor and Matthew Adams; her brother, Edwin Johnson of Shrewsbury; her two sisters, Dorothy Klap and Betty Ann Campbell, both of Florida. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, including her dedicated niece Caryl Walne. She was predeceased by her four sisters, Alice Reece, Pauline Stukowski, Mildred Robertson and Barbara Walne, and by her two brothers, Nils and Theodore Johnson.
She was born in Framingham, a daughter of the late Nils and Edith E. (Carlson) Johnson and has lived in Auburn for many years.
Mrs. Leach retired from the New England Hardboard Company, Worcester, where she was a machine operator. She previously worked for Massachusetts Electric. She was a longtime member of Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, Worcester. Always thinking of her family, Virginia most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

CINDY A. LEBLANC
September 26, 1947 - October 19, 2006
Auburn Cindy A. (Crevier) Le Blanc, 59, of 113 Washington St., formerly of Southbridge, died Thursday, October 19, 2006 after a long illness in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester surrounded by her family.
She leaves her loving husband of 21 years, Peter J. Le Blanc, two sons, Richard P. Cournoyer of Hollywood, FL; Todd R. Cournoyer and his wife Mary C. of Grafton; two grandchildren, Amanda and Sara Cournoyer.
Cindy was born and raised in Southbridge the only child of Henry and Lucille Crevier. She retired in 2000 from Fed Ex as a Senior Service Agent after 15 years of service. She loved her pet cats and international travel. Cindy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
WILLARD ALLEN LEGG
June 23, 1923 - June 16, 2007
SPENCER, MA - Willard A. "Bill" Legg, 83, of Spencer, died Saturday, June 16th in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Eleanor W. (Williams) Legg; his three children, David Connelly Legg and his wife Kathleen of Auburn, Barbara Jean Rudik and her husband Michael of Spencer, and Judith A. Tatro and her partner Jacquelyn Robinson of Worcester; his five grandchildren, Amanda Jean West, US Army and her husband Clay, both stationed in Iraq, Patrick A. Tatro, Daniel C., Brian C. and Martin C. Legg. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Enid Legg and Janet Kirby. He was born in Wilksburg, PA, son of the late Joseph and Esther ( Bergstrom ) Legg. He has lived in Spencer for many years. He graduated from W.P.I., Clark University and the Boston University School of Theology. Mr. Legg was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a pacifist patriot.
A longtime Methodist minister, Mr. Legg served in churches in Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut. He also worked as a social worker, carpenter and painter. He enjoyed gardening and loved to tinker and invent things to make his homestead run more smoothly. He created beautiful stained glass pieces, and was a tireless humanitarian and worker for many charitable organizations, especially Oxfam America.
A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 11 AM in the Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main Street, Worcester. His family will receive relatives and friends in the church parlor from 10-11 AM. Burial in Hope Cemetery, Worcester will be private.
Vera M. (Muccio) Leone
December 17, 1917 - October 28, 2006
SHREWSBURY - Vera M. (Muccio) Leone, 88, of formerly of Hunting Avenue, Shrewsbury died Saturday, October 28th in Autumn Village in Worcester after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Joseph D. Leone; a daughter, Eileen L. Chick of Shrewsbury; a sister, Josephine Moavero of Stamford, Connecticut; two grandsons, Robert Chick of Hubbardston and Lawrence Chick of Chandler, Arizona; also survived by four great grandsons; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
Vera was born in Stamford, Connecticut, daughter of the late John and Rose (Pezza) Muccio and had lived in Shrewsbury for many years. She and her husband John, loved Florida so much that they moved to St. Augustine and had resided there for 20 years there before moving back to Massachusetts in 1993.
Mrs. Leone had been employed for 25 years at General Electric before she retired.
She was a member of Saint Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury. One of Vera favorite hobbies was to crochet.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Vera's family on Monday, October 30th from 6-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, October 31st at 10 A.M. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. After cremation, burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
Enis (Guerra) Leroux
June 9, 1923 - October 14, 2006
SHREWSBURY - Enis (Guerra) Leroux, 83, of Francis Gardens Court, died Saturday in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave, after a short illness.
Her husband Alexander D. Leroux, former Shrewsbury Fire Chief, died in 1971
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne E. Smith, of Westborough; her grandchildren Lisa Smith, of Lake Worth FL, Steven A. Smith, of Westborough, Dennis H. Leroux, Cillissa Leroux both of Shrewsbury, David A. Leroux, of Worcester; her great grandchildren, Kendyal J. Marshall, Ella Marie Leroux; step grandson Joseph Bigelow, and step great granddaughter, Paige Bigelow. Other members of her family include a sister Mary Conn, of Providence RI and a daughter in law, Sandra Leroux, of Shrewsbury.
She is preceded in death by her son Dennis Leroux, brother, Joseph Guerra, and sisters, Theresa Garganigo, and Lena Leofanti.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Silvio and Evelina (Golferi) Guerra. She was educated in Shrewsbury schools.
She worked as a clerk for State mutual Insurance Co.; she had also worked as a clerk at the former Food Farm, and Spag's in Shrewsbury. She retired in the early 1970's
She was a member of Saint Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, its Women's Club and its Jet-Setters Club. The Shrewsbury Women's Club and the Shrewsbury Business Women's Association.
She was an avid bingo player, and she enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday October 17, 2006 from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, with a Mass in Saint Mary's Church at 11:00 AM Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

MINNIE HARRIET (OLSON) LIND
December 10, 1917 - March 5, 2006
Auburn - Minnie H. (Olson) Lind, 88, of 669 Washington St., died Sunday, March 5th at University Commons, Worcester after an illness.
Her husband of 66 years, Iver R. Lind died in 2004.
She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth L. and Thomas M. Thompson of Auburn; three grandchildren, Deborah Sachs and Patricia, wife of Tony Benvenuti, both of Auburn and Lori Quinlan of Exeter, NH; as well as six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Carl O. "Charlie" Olson and Roy Olson.
She was born in Auburn, daughter of the late Carl O. and Annie M. (Orman) Olson and has lived here all of her life. She graduated from Auburn High School.
Along with her aunt, Mrs. Lind owned and operated a clothing store, "Fads and Fashions" in Drury Square in Auburn for 15 years, retiring in 1971.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Naomi Ladies group and sang in the choir, and the Pakachoag Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, both in Auburn. Her greatest love was her family.
