Louis Domenic Giannini
SEPTEMBER 24, 1926 - SEPTEMBER 1, 2007
AUBURN/WELLS, ME - Louis Domenic Giannini of Auburn, Massachusetts and Moody Point, Wells, Maine died September 1, 2007 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is survived by his sister Antoinette F. Giannini of Auburn; niece Anne (Giannini) Coyne and husband John and children Mary Elizabeth, Stephen Ryan, and Mathew John; Niece Elizabeth (Giannini) McCollough and her husband Jeffrey and daughter Rose Elizabeth of Hatfield; Nephew Frank Domenic Giannini, Jr. and wife Jennifer and daughters Eden Rose and Ava Mae of Roanoke, Virginia.
Louis is son of the late Domenic and Mary (Amato) Giannini and is predeceased by his younger brother, Frank Domenic and his wife, Rosemarie (Monfreda).
Louis Graduated from North High School and then served in the United States Navy during the final months of World War II. He graduated from Clark University in 1952 where he also coached the women's basketball team. He also received his Master of Arts from Boston College in Sociology and a Certificate of Graduate Studies from Boston University.
Following his studies, Louis accepted a coaching and teaching position at Worcester's Sacred Heart Academy were he coached several championship seasons, including a New England Catholic Schools championship in 1956/57.
Louis then taught at North High School and Burncoat High School and was elected by his students to direct the Worcester Public Schools participation in the Dynamy Program. He retired from the Worcester School System in 1991.
In addition to a great love for his work and the students with which he felt privileged to teach, Louis enjoyed traveling, gardening, theater and the world of great music and art. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday from 6-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. His funeral will be held Tuesday from the funeral home, with a Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM in the North American Martyrs' Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

MAY G. (ENGLISH) GILES
June 2, 1916 - August 19, 2007
AUBURN, MA - May G. (English) Giles, 91, of the Lodge at Eddy Pond, died Sunday in Saint Vincent's Hospital, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 59 years, Mr. Arthur W. Giles, predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen L. Herbert, of Auburn, and five loving grandchildren, and five adoring great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Elaine M. Shimke.
She was born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Ernest A. and Pollie (Greensmith) English, and lived in Worcester before moving to Auburn in 1974.
She is a graduate of the former High School of Commerce in 1934.
Mrs. Giles worked for 42 years for the United Way of Central Massachusetts, and later did community volunteer work for many years.
She was a life member of Saint Matthews Episcopal Church in Worcester, where she was active in many of its organizations.
Funeral and burial will be held privately.
Lorraine Gleick Nordgren
February 24, 1930 - April 5, 2006
Auburn - Lorraine Gleick Nordgren, 76, passed away quietly on April 5th, with her loving family by her side.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Laurence Gordon Fitts, and her husband, Robert Nordgren, both of Auburn, two sisters, Eva Brennan of Leicester and Juanita Gould of Auburn; many nieces and nephews, close friends, and her numerous animals. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Gleick, and her sisters, Agnes Fitts, Josephine Barrows, Beverly Johnson, and Christine Trudell, and her former husband, Laurence Fitts.
Lorraine graduated from Auburn High School and attneded many classes on insurance planning and natural resources at Worcester State College, The College of the Holy Cross and Northeastern University.
She worked for 40 years as an independent insurance adjuster, and owned and operated Watts Insurance Adjustment Company with her partner, Willis H. Kemp.
Lorraine devoted her life to public service and her accomplishments were many. She was a member of the Auburn Board of Selectman for 12 years, town meeting member, the Council on Aging, Friends of Auburn Senior Citizens Association, the Conservation Commission, Industrial Finance Authority, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Natural Resources Planning Program and the Open Space Committee, the Public Municipal Buildings Committee, the Police Station Study Committee; the Southern Worcester County Wastewater Advisory Board and the Solid Waste Advisory Committee. She supported the preservation of Auburn's history through the Historical Society and the cemetery Commission. She was also a volunteer for the Auburn Fuel Assistance Fund, the SHARE Program, and public housing and veterans programs. She was a strong advocate for the town's elderly and she was devoted to improving the lives of all of Auburn's citizens.
Lorraine's public service touched many lives, and because of her dedications, she received several awards and honors throughout her life. Most recently, the Auburn Senior Center was renamed the "Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center". She also was inducted into the Auburn High School Hall of Fame.
Lorraine was known as "Kitty" to her family because of her many cats and her incredible love of all animals. Her home was a safe refuge for many creatures, including dogs, casts, birds, squirrels and even skunks. She once risked her own life to save two dogs that had fallen through the ice.
Have a peaceful journey, Kitty. You will never be forgotten.

ANNA (MIESZKOWSKI) GODZIK
September 24, 1918 - November 1, 2007
WEBSTER - Anna (Mieszkowski) Godzik, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Thursday, November 1st in UMass Medical Center-University Campus after a brief illness.
Mrs. Godzik was born in Chicopee, MA daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Piekarski) Mieszkowski and was raised in Westfield. She then wed Mr. Bernard A. Godzik in November of 1935 in Webster and resided there for many years before later moving to Shrewsbury and Worcester. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Podbielski of Woodstock, CT and two sons and their spouses, Joseph R. Godzik and his wife, Kathleen and Richard J. Godzik and his wife, Michele both of Charlton. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Susan, David, Heidi, Dina and Emily, Tracy, Shauna, and Kyle and 5 great grandchildren, David, Joseph, Ainsley, Aidan and Finola. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard in 1953 and a sister who had lived in Poland.
Anna had worked for many years at Fallon Clinic Inc, in Worcester before she retired. She was active in church affairs at St. Joseph's Basilica in Webster where she was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Society and the St. Anne's Society. When Anna had moved to Shrewsbury she became a communicant of St. Mary's Parish. Anna was also a member of the Polish Women's Club and served as its treasurer for several years.
Anna will be best remembered for her everlasting love and loyalty for her family and her passion of cooking.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anna's funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Monday, November 5th at 10 A.M. in St. Joseph's Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA. Burial will be in Saint Joseph's Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster, MA. Calling hours for Anna will be private. Mark A. Gonnelli
November 28, 1957 - March 11, 2006
Auburn - Mark A. Gonnelli, 48, of 35 Walsh Ave., died Friday evening in his home after a 4 month struggle with cancer.
He leaves his fianc and companion of 17 years, Marie E. Riley; his mother, Lillian M. (Ferranti) Gonnelli of Longmeadow, and a brother, Paul C. Gonnelli of Chaplin, CT. He was predeceased by his father, Tullio Gonnelli in January, 2005.
He was born in Springfield and has lived here for more than 15 years. He graduated from Longmeadow High School and attended Porter and Chester School, Connecticut.
Mark was the owner of Subway of Webster, a franchise he has owned for the past three years. Previously, he had worked in the fiber optics manufacturing field.
He loved to cook, enjoyed the beach and his many trips to Cape Cod and was an avid Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins fan.

Gretchen Hastings (Smith) Gonyea
October 31, 1925 - January 10, 2006
Auburn - Gretchen H. (Smith) Gonyea, 80, of Boyce St., died Tuesday, January 10th in the Hospice at Coes Pond, Worcester after a long courageous struggle with cancer.
Her husband of 51 years, William J. Gonyea died in 2002.
She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah A. and Robert Bazydlo of Dudley; her sister, Gloria, wife of Paul Edwards of East Orleans, MA and four grandchildren, a great granddaughter and severa lnephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her siblings, Gordon and Gerneth Smith.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late A. Milo and Ethel Smith and lived in Auburn for over 50 years. She graduated from Commerce High School and Becker Junior College.
She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Worcester.

MARY E. (DILLON) GOODWIN
October 10, 1908 - November 4, 2007
FRAMINGHAM/SHREWSBURY - Mary E. (Dillon) Goodwin, 99, of Shrewsbury formerly of Framingham died Sunday, November 4th in Shrewsbury Nursing Home after an illness.
She is survived by two sons, Harold J. Goodwin and his wife, Carol and James W. Goodwin and his wife, Sandra both of Shrewsbury; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold J. Goodwin, Sr. who died in 1992 and by a brother, James and three sisters, Margaret, Catherine and Josephine.
Mrs. Goodwin was born in Framingham, daughter of the late Patrick and Johanna (Hurley) Dillon and had lived in Framingham for many years before moving to Shrewsbury 11 years ago. She had worked as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager for F.W. Woolworth's in Framingham for 47 years before she retired.
Mary had a love for animals and was an avid Red Sox Fan.

DAVID B. GORDON
January 14, 1938 - November 5, 2007
SOUTHBRIDGE - David B. Gordon, 69, of Southbridge died Monday November 5th in Millbury Healthcare in Millbury after an illness.
Mr. Gordon was born in Worcester, son of the late Harold and Irene (McLeod) Gordon and had lived in Southbridge for 10 years. He graduated from the Worcester School System and then had entered the U.S. Air Force where he served so proudly.
David had worked as a Manufacturer's Representative of Law Enforcement Supplies for over 15 years. He was so dedicated to his job that he was still working up until a few months ago. He was a member of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police and the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Associations.
He leaves his son, John S. Gordon and his wife, Lisa of Shrewsbury; 2 grandchildren, a sister, and his former wife, Carol A. (Corkum) Gordon of Worcester.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with David's family on Wednesday, November 7th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A funeral service honoring David life will be held on Thursday, November 8th at 11 A.M. in the funeral home with Reverend Jerry Heslinger officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the family lot in Mooreland cemetery in Paxton, MA. Dorothy E. (Bailey) Gouvea
July 25, 1917 - January 18, 2006
CHARLTON - Dorothy E. (Bailey) Gouvea, 88, of 51 Smith Road, Charlton formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday, January 18th in her daughter's home after an illness.
Her husband, Maurice P. Gouvea died in 1960. She is survived by her daughter, D. Susan Burch of Charlton with whom she lived; a sister, Florence Blythe of Spencer; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Paula L. Henry; 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Mrs. Gouvea was born in Bucksport, Maine daughter of the late John and Edna B. (McKinnon) Bailey and had lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Charlton 13 years ago. She graduated from Millbury High School and Milford Hospital School of Nursing.
Dorothy was a Registered Nurse for many years, twenty of those years was doing private duty nursing. She also loved to travel, she found her self traveling all over the world to visiting her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy's funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 10 A.M. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Worcester Common Ground, CDC, 711 Bellview Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
Alfred E. Green

Alfred E. Green, 83, of Shrewsbury, died at home on May 29th after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Janson) Green; sons, Reverend Dr. Douglas J. Green of Ithaca N.Y., Bradford F. Green of Shrewsbury and his wife Virginia; and a daughter, Nancy Green Burnett of Shrewsbury and her husband Paul H. Burnett; along with 6 grandchildren, Edward and Alan Burnett, Ryan and Jaime Green, and Rebecca and Matthew Green. He is also survived by a sister, Janet Dean of Shrewsbury and her husband Randall.
Mr. Green was born in Worcester, the son of Clifford and Katharine (Davis) Green. He was a graduate of Worcester Academy, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and the first class of the WPI School of Industrial Management. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.
He was a Navy Lieutenant and veteran of World War II, serving as chief engineering officer aboard the USS Parker in the Pacific Theatre.
A registered professional engineer, he founded Process Heating Corporation, a local manufacturing company.
AI was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, serving as Church Treasurer, chairman of the Endowment Committee, and chairman of the church's 275th anniversary celebration.
He was a long time member of the Worcester Country Club where he served as Secretary and on the Board of Governors, and also a 50-year member of the Matthew John Whittall Masonic Lodge.
Al was named to the Worcester Academy Board of Trustees where he was elected Vice President, Co-Chair of the 2002 Capital Campaign, and Trustee Emeritus until the time of his death.
He was involved with WPI as a 25 year member of the Alumni Association Investment Committee. He also served on the President's Advisory Council and the Alumni Association, receiving the Herbert F. Taylor Award for distinguished service. He served as president as the Tech Old Timers.
His volunteer work included an appointed position as a Shrewsbury Sewer Commissioner for forty years. A former Town Meeting Member, he was also Vice Chair of the Shrewsbury Bicentennial Celebration Committee.
Al was an avid golfer, sailor, and skier. He especially enjoyed Cape Cod, New Hampshire, and his summer home in Marion, Massachusetts where he was a member of Kittansett Golf Club and the Beverly Yacht club.
