ADRIEN, GILBERT -- Gilbert A. Adrien, 80, died early Sunday morning, January 11, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Margaret (Walsh) Adrien, with whom he shared fifty years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on June 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Doris Adrien. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1948. He went on to further his education at Malden Business School.
Mr. Adrien made his living as a sewing machine repair man. He began his career at White Sewing Machine, and then worked for several years at Webber's in Salem before working for Sears, where he was employed for over twenty years.
In his younger years, he was a member of the Yankee Division Drum and Bugle Corps and the Indoor Sports Club of Lynn. A dedicated volunteer and proponent for the handicapped, Mr. Adrien was the founder of the Independent Living Center of the North Shore and Cape Ann, president of the North Shore Self Help Group, a board member of North Shore Transit, Inc., a trustee of the North Shore Health Council, and a member of the Mass Office of Handicapped Affairs and the Governor's Committee of People with Disabilities. Locally, he was a member of the Crime Busters Committee, the Danvers Cable Advisory Committee, and president of Danvers Supporters of Music Education.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed camping and boating with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three sons, John Adrien and his girlfriend Noreen Cousins of Peabody, David Adrien and his wife Sharon of Concord, NH, and Paul Adrien and his wife Stacey of Danvers; three grandsons, Alex, Cooper, and Caden Adrien, and a sister, Lorraine Logon of Virginia.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 9AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. TEMPLE, THELMA -- Thelma P. (Bosworth) Temple, 82, died Thursday afternoon, January 1, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Hobert M. "Red" Temple, with whom she shared fifty-five years of marriage.
Born in Cresson, PA on June 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Sarah (Nicholson) Bosworth. She graduated from Cresson School and went on to earn her degree in nursing from Temple University School of Nursing in 1948.
For several years, she owned and operated the former McDonald's Candy Store in Danvers Square with her husband.
Mrs. Temple was an active member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women's Society. She sang in the church choir for twenty-seven years and was a member of the Music Committee. A past member of the VNA and Danvers Garden Club, she was a member and volunteer at the Danvers Senior Center, where she belonged to the knitting group and book club. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two daughters, Laura L. Goodreau and her husband Louis of Danvers and Patricia A. Temple and her husband John Ingham of Maine, a brother, Irvin Bosworth of PA, a sister, Anna Laura Hutchison of PA, a grandson, David Temple Goodreau of Oregon, a granddaughter, Sarah Kathryn Goodreau of New York, a special niece and nephew, Connie and Paul Pawlak of Danvers, and two honorary children, Stan and Lisa Wang and their children Jessica and Matthew, all of Marblehead..
Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 at1PM in the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. DESCHAMPS, ROBERT -- Robert E. Deschamps, 27, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in Salem Hospital. He was the son of Faith and Richard Hills of Georgetown and the late Bruce Deschamps.
Born in Salem on Oct. 22, 1981, Rob was raised and educated mostly in Georgetown and Danvers and was a graduate of Whittier Regional High School in Haverhill, Class of 2000. He had resided in Danvers for the last five years.
Most recently, Rob had been employed by ITV in Beverly.
He enjoyed wrestling and stock car races, and in his younger days loved karate.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two grandmothers, Marie Deschamps of Danvers and Olga Hills of Byfield, his brothers, Brandon Deschamps of Danvers, Derek Hills of MD, and Christopher Pacheco of Danvers, his sisters, Jaime Hills of Plastow, NH, Melissa Hills of Haverhill, and Jennette, Angela, and Stephanie Hills, all of Georgetown, and a loving extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, Jan. 2, 2008 from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home at 7PM. DEFLORIO, MARIA S. - of Wenham, Maria Saverina DeFlorio (Aunt Sarah) - of Ipswich, 107, passed away on December 29, 2008 at the Caldwell Nursing Home in Ipswich.
Born in Boston on May 6, 1901, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Marie Felice DeFlorio.
She was raised in the North End of Boston and graduated from the Boston Trade School for Girls in 1927, majoring in Home Dressmaking. She worked for Leopold Morse Co. in Boston as a seamstress until she retired in the mid 1960s. In 1976, after the passing of her nephew, Ralph L. D'Ambrosio Sr. she moved to Wenham to help her niece, Marion D. D'Ambrosio raise her children. Aunt Sarah was a very active member of the community volunteering at many local churches and working at the Christ Church Thrift shop for many years.
She was predeceased by her brother Joseph DeFlorio, and two of her sisters Katherine D'Ambrosio and Mildred Pizzano. She is survived by her sister Angelina Guarino, 104, of Jamaica Plain, the D'Ambrosio family, the Guarino family, the Pizzano family and the DeFlorio family which includes many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Friday, January 2, 2009 in the Church of St. Paul, South Hamilton. A gathering for friends and family will be held at the church immediately following the service. Burial will follow the gathering at St. Michael's cemetery on Walk Hill St., Boston. JOHNSON, ROBERT "SAMMY" OFMIDDLETON- Robert J. "Sammy" Johnson, AKA Robert Jankoski, 77, passed away on Dec. 13, 2008 in a local hospital.
Born on Dec. 27, 1930 in Danvers, he was the son of the late Barney and Annie (Katowicz) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Danvers. He had resided in Middleton for over fifty years. Mr. Johnson had been the owner/operator of Robert Johnson Excavating for many years. He enjoyed motorcycling, was an avid pool player and excellent woodworker.
He is survived by two sons, Anthony Johnson of Middleton, and Paul and his wife Katherine Pollard of Bradford, three sisters, Mary Conley, Estelle Trueira and Katherine Freeman and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Anthony, Barney and Frank Jankoski, Ann Bushby, Sophie Tongue and Irene Thorner.
A gathering for friends and family will be held on Thursday evening from 5PM-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
COTE, JULIEN R. "SONNY" -- Julien R. "Sonny" Cote, 94, died late Saturday evening, December 13, 2008 following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Cecile (Blanchette) Cote, with whom he shared seventy years of marriage.
Born in Ste. Clement, Quebec, Canada on June 10, 1914, he was the son of the late Magloire and Marie (Lizotte) Cote. After emigrating to Salem at age eight, he was raised and educated in Salem. He later became a U.S. citizen and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Cote was employed for forty-nine years as a machinist at the Friend Box Company in Danvers and was a self-taught "jack of all trades, " who never shied away from a challenge or an opportunity to help someone.
A member of the VFW and Klondike Club in Salem, he also bowled in a league at Sunnyside in Danvers for many years. He loved life, had a quick smile, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing cards, singing, and dancing, which he and his wife enjoyed with their lifelong friends, Jeannette and Omer Beaupre of Salem. A communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, he had been a Danvers resident since his marriage in 1938.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marie Cote of Haverhill, a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Sybert of Milford, NH, two grandchildren, Robert Cote of Litchfield, NH and Karen Cote of South Berwick, ME, a sister, Laurette Amrhein of CA, a brother, Laurent Cote of CA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert, and many of his sisters and brothers: Yvonne Latulippe, Lillian April, Rose Provost, Theresa Cameron, Marie Caron, and Blanche, Colette, Onil, Gerard, and Henry Cote.

CORVO, GAETANO - OF DANVERS - Gaetano "Guy" D. Corvo, 81, passed away December 12, 2008 following a year-long battle with cancer.
Born in Malden, MA on October 1, 1927, he was the beloved son of the late Rutilio C. and Concettina B. Corvo. Guy was raised and educated in Malden and was also a graduate of the Stratford School of Accounting. Guy was a self-taught and accomplished pianist, enjoyed boating on his "Blue Moon" with family and friends, and was an active church and choir member of the St. Adelaide Church in West Peabody.
He is survived by two daughters Lisa M. Corvo of Lowell and Julie Paradiso and her husband Tim of Boston, two brothers Salvatore R. and his wife May Corvo of Sun City, AZ and Rutilio A. and his wife Nancy Corvo of Frederick, MD, a sister Inez M. and John J. O'Connell of Saugus, two grandchildren, Jenna Mae Rose "Corvo" and Shane R. Corvo and dear friend Elaine M. Lazenby of Boston. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Karen. E. Corvo and his long-time companion Dolly Mueller of West Peabody.

COOK, NATHALIE -- Nathalie (Williams) Cook, 93, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Jack D. Cook.
Born in Danvers on January 12, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George and Eliza (Brown) Williams. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. A Danvers resident for the last twenty years, she resided in Hamilton for many years.
Mrs. Cook was dedicated to her family. She loved animals, especially birds, flowers, and skiing. She was an avid Red Sox fan.
She is survived by a daughters, Susan Fox of Danvers, a son, Glenn Cook of Tucson, AZ, five grandchildren, Stacy Anne Fox of Andover, Brian Fox of Wakefield, Catherine Cook of Nevada, Cynthia Williams of Arizona, and Nathan Cook of Arizona, many great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a brother, Laurence Williams and his wife Carol of Hamilton, her in-laws, Paul O'Dell of Maine, Rita Williams of Peabody, and Mary Abbott of Framingham, and many nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Cook's request, funeral services were held privately on Saturday, December 13, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to All Care Hospice, 16 City Hall Sq., Lynn, MA 01901. Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
LAWRENCE, ROSETTA - OF BEVERLY- Rosetta L. "Rose" (Spears) Lawrence, 86, passed away Dec. 10, 2008 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Bernard M. Lawrence.
Born in Peabody on Oct. 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Buxey) Spears. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1940. Mrs. Lawrence was a communicant of St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Beverly and more recently the former St. Alphonsus Church in Danvers. She was a member of the League of Catholic Women and the Senior Center in Beverly. She had been employed at Hotwatt as a payroll clerk for many years. Mrs. Lawrence enjoyed traveling with friends upon retirement.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses, Albert and Claudia Lawrence of Manchester, Conn., Ronald and Joni Lawrence of Salem, John and Deborah Lawrence of Salem, Dennis Lawrence of Dover, NH, Barry Lawrence of Salem, Carol and John Dunleavy of Peabody and Brian and Rosemary Lawrence of Peabody, nine grandchildren, Todd and Michael Lawrence, Nicholas and Jennifer Lawrence, Erica and Allison Lawrence, Michael Dunleavy, Christopher and Jonathan Lawrence and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, George, Edward, Thomas and William Spears, Agnes Russell, Katherine Crawford, Dorothy Fraser and Margaret Cleary.

KINSMAN, BRO. FRED, CFX -- Brother Frederick J. Kinsman, C.F.X., 88, a Xaverian Brother for nearly seventy years, died Wednesday evening, December 10, 2008 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy illness.
A native of Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood, he was born on May 20, 1920 to the late Eben and Catherine (Byrne) Kinsman. Brother graduated from Mission High School in 1938 and entered the Congregation of Saint Francis Xavier in September of 1939 taking the religious name Kieran.
After spending two years at Xaverian College, Brother was sent out to teach at grammar schools, fist at Holy Name School in Brooklyn and then at Leonard Hall in southern Maryland. He completed his undergraduate studies at Fordham University while teaching in Brooklyn and graduate studies at NYU while teaching at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx.
Brother Fred had a missionary spirit augmented by an appetite for adventure. He served ten years in East Africa and a year at St. Francis Indian School in South Dakota. He also spent five years doing ministry and outreach at the Xaverian Mission in Orangeburg, SC. In between these adventures, Brother taught and worked the grounds and boilers at Notre Dame, Utica, NY and Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. Later in retirement, Brother assisted the maintenance crew at Malden Catholic. In recent years, Brother Fred made his home in Xaverian House, Danvers.
Brother Fred preached the gospel through his care, his genuine compassion, and his desire to live from a set of values he learned growing up in the depression or living simply in East Africa, South Dakota, or South Carolina.
In addition to his brothers in religion, Brother Fred is survived by a sister, Gertrude O'Brien of Dorchester, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Barrett, and a brother, Edmund Kinsman.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2PM in the Chapel of St. John's Preparatory School (Administration Building). Burial will follow in Brothers' Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours will precede the funeral liturgy from 12:00 to 1:45PM in the Chapel. TEETSEL, KATHLEEN --ESSEX- Kathleen Teetsel (KT) entered into eternal peace in the company of family and friends at the Kaplan Hospice House. Born July 21, 1955 in Schenectady, NY, Kathy received a degree in early childhood education from State University of New York at Cobleskill and moved to Boston in 1975. Various career changes found her with the Sullivan Team at RE/MAX Advantage Real Estate where she has enjoyed working for the last 21 years.
She is survived by her parents, Ken and Mary Lou Teetsel, and siblings, Dianne Manning (Lou), Carolyn Hasper (Everett), David Teetsel, Judy Moore (TR) and Janette Teetsel, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
A Celebration of Kathleen Teetsel's life will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday December 6, 2008 in the Lynnwood Reformed Church, 3714 Carman Road, Schenectady.
