MONACO, JOSEPH F. -- Joseph Francis Monaco, 92, a longtime Lynn resident, died Tuesday evening, March 27, 2007, at the VA Hospital in Bedford. He was the husband of the late Sandra (Fazio) Monaco, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage at the time of her death in 2004.
Born in Saugus on Nov. 1, 1914, he was the son of the late Joseph and Concetta Monaco. He was raised and educated in Saugus and was a graduate of Saugus High School. He was a resident of Lynn for over fifty years until moving to Danvers in 2003.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.
Mr. Monaco was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Lynn for over forty years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Paul and Mary Monaco of TN and Peter and Lori Monaco of Beverly; six grandchildren: Bernadette and Joseph Monaco of TN, and Jordan, Britney, Lindsey, and Evan Smith of Beverly; two brothers: Frank and John Monaco; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary and Rose.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours are Friday from 6-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Donations in Josephs name may be made to the North Shore Community College Foundation, 1 Ferncroft Rd., Danvers, MA 01923.

MCGILL, BERTHA -- Bertha Therese (Stone) McGill, 82, died Friday morning, March 30, 2007 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Arthur C. McGill who died in 1981. Together they shared nearly forty-five years of marriage.
Born in Holyoke on March 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Carroll) Stone. She was raised and educated in Pittsfield and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1942. She furthered her education at the College of Our Lady of the Elms, graduating in the Class of 1946. She was a longtime resident of Pittsfield until relocating to Danvers in 2005.
Mrs. McGill taught fifth and sixth grade science at the former Sacred Heart School and then at St. Marks School in Pittsfield.
Active in her church and community, Mrs. McGill was the former Director of CCD at Sacred Heart Church and a member of Our Ladys Sodality at Sacred Heart Church. She was a member and past president of the Berkshire Chapter of the College of Our Lady of the Elms. She served as a docent at the Berkshire Museum and as a volunteer at the Hillcrest Hospital for more than 20 years.
She is survived by her children: Dennis McGill of PA, Ann McGill of Danvers, Maureen Ryan and her husband Dennis of NH, and Therese Allen and her husband David of Pittsfield; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Helen Touhey, Marie Lovallo, and Ann Hayden.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11AM in Sacred Heart Church, Elm St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pittsfield. An hour of visitation will precede the funeral liturgy in the church from 10-11AM. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Berthas memory may be to Beacon Hospice, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 222C, Beverly, MA 01915.

MCKINNON, MARY -- Mary A. McKinnon, 79, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at Salem Hospital. She was the wife of Francis O. McKinnon, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Salem on January 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Alice (McCarthy) Payne. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. She had been a Danvers resident for over fifty years.
Mary was employed as a clerk for over thirty years at the Southern Essex County Registry of Deeds.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John McKinnon of Danvers; an aunt, Louise ODonnell of Marblehead, 2 grandchildren: Shannon Campbell of Groveland and Sean McKinnon of Danvers, 2 great-grandchildren: Vanessa McKinnon of Salem and Owen Campbell of Groveland, and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marys memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

MCCARTHY, CATHERINE M. -- Catherine M. McCarthy, 96, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 17, 2007 at her home in Long Hill, Edgartown, surrounded by her family and friends. She was the wife of the late F. Chester McCarthy who was killed in action in Germany in March of 1945, serving as a captain in the 102 Field Artillery of the 26th Yankee Division in Pattons 3rd Army.
Born in Danvers on May 7, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Doherty) Shea. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. She lived nearly her whole life in Danvers, and was a resident of Collins Street for eighty years. She relocated to Marthas Vineyard in 2004.
For several years following high school, Mrs. McCarthy was employed at the former Champion Lamp as a secretary. She was then employed as a secretary at the former Weathersfield Farm Dairy, now the site of the Putnamville Reservoir. She was then employed at the former Danvers National Bank for twenty-two years, where she served as secretary to the president.
Mrs. McCarthy was a fun-loving person and a founding parishioner of St. Richard Church. She was always the life of the party and queen of the May. She was a fierce poker player, and started a poker group at her home on Porter Street in Danvers. She loved dancing and music and made friends everywhere she went.
She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Nancy McCarthy of Largo, FL; a daughter, Linda McCarthy of Chilmark, four grandchildren: Catherine and Karen McCarthy of Largo, FL, Elisha Wiesner of Marthas Vineyard, and Philip Wiesner of Cambridge. She was the sister of the late Mary OShea.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10AM in St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.

RICE, EDWARD -- Edward L. Rice, 90, died Saturday at Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Blanche (Anderson) Rice, who predeceased him in 2001.
Born in Danvers on June 22, 1916, he was the son of the late Edward and Christine (Maynard) Rice. He was raised and educated in Danvers and attended Danvers schools. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during WWII.
Ed was employed for over thirty year as a salesman and delivery driver for the Coca-Cola Corporation. Following his retirement, he worked in landscaping for several years.
A Middleton resident since 1951, Ed enjoyed poetry and gardening. He was an avid baseball and football fan.
He is survived by two daughters: Patricia Whalen and her husband Joseph of Middleton and Dianne Rice of Middleton; two sisters: Genevieve Covell and Helen Buxton; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clifton Rice and Harriett Rice.
His Funeral Service will take place Wednesday at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting Hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM in the funeral home. Donations in Eds memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

HARTIGAN, JEANE -- Jeanne Eva (Savoie) Hartigan, 75, died Monday morning, April 23, 2007 at a local nursing facility following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Charles Hartigan.
Born in Salem on June 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Cora (Roy) Savoie. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1959. She lived most of her adult life in Salem and had been a Manchester resident for many years.
Jeanne was employed for many years as a driver at the Michaud Bus Company. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by five children: Mark Noucher, Jeanne Jackson of NC, Valerie Pearson of Byfield, Rhonda Bowden of Manchester, and Rebecca Klemp of Haverhill; a sister, Cora LeBlanc of Canada; and eight grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Dorothy MacLeod and Anne Carlsen.
Her Funeral Service will be celebrated Thursday at 11AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6-8PM in the funeral home. Donations in Jeannes memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.

CHIANCIOLA, NANCY (SWALLOW) -- Nancy A. (Gaillard) (Swallow) Chianciola, 56, of Gloucester, formerly of Essex, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of John Chianciola, with whom she shared the last seventeen years of her life.
Born in Memphis, TN on July 30, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Lottie (Bell) Gaillard. She was raised and educated in Memphis and was a graduate of Treadwell High School, Class of 1968. A Southern girl who came north, she was a resident of Essex from 1980 until 2002 when she moved to Gloucester.
For more than fifteen years, Nancy was employed as treasurer of the Town of Essex. She enjoyed drawing, knitting, and the arts.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her children: Joshua Swallow and his wife Elizabeth of Peabody and Kelly Blankenship of Woodstown, NJ; two step-children: Bryan and Nicole Chianciola; and three grandchildren: Kelsey Blankenship, April King, and Shawn King.
A Graveside Service will be celebrated on Friday at 11AM in the Spring Street Cemetery, Essex. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours are Thursday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancys memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.

CARROLL, GLORIA -- Gloria M. (Beaulieu) Carroll, 82, died Tuesday evening, April 24, 2007 at a local nursing facility. She was the wife of Robert Carroll, with whom she shared over fifty years of marriage.
Born in Ipswich on March 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Telesphore and Sarah (Mignault) Beaulieu. She was raised and educated in Ipswich and was a graduate of Ipswich High School. She was a resident of Essex for many years and recently made her home in Peabody.
Mrs. Carroll was employed by Varian from 1943 until her retirement in 1987. She loved her job and enjoyed being around people, especially her family. She and her husband also enjoyed spending winters in Florida for several years following their retirements.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Carol Dion of Danvers and Frank Greenough and his wife Heidi of New Mexico, her grandchildren: Kimberly Cresta and her husband Gino of Swampscott, Deborah Roberts of Agawam, Christopher Dion of Amesbury, Frank Greenough Jr. and his wife Carla of Idaho, Kenneth Greenough of Texas, Robert Greenough of California, her great grandchildren: Gino, Ryan, and Sydney Cresta, Layne Greenough, Tessica Davison, her brothers: Fred Beaulieu and his wife Helen of Salem, Albert Beaulieu and his wife Betty of Essex, Francis Beaulieu of New Hampshire, her sisters: Theresa Moody of Florida, and Doris Hamson and her husband Tom of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be celebrated Monday at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. A period of visitation will precede the service from 9-9:45 Monday morning. Relatives and friends are invited. McCARTHY, BRIAN -- Brian T. McCarthy, 59, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. HE was the husband of Nancy (George) McCarthy, with whom he shared thirty-four years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on July 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Farrar) McCarthy. He was raised in Beverly and was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Rhode Island. He then served honorably in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He then received a degree in computer science from North Shore Community College.
For many years, Brian was employed managing the computer systems for COD Oil in Revere. He then worked as a bus driver for ABC Bus Co. and then Laidlaw for several years.
In his spare time, Brian enjoyed fishing and playing Keno.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Barbara McInnis, two brothers, David McCarthy and Kenneth McCarthy, his sisters-in-law, Sandy Soucy-George and Sharon LaPorte, his brother-in-law David George and his wife Carolann, an aunt, Christine Farrar, an uncle, Gilbert Farrar and his wife Ginny, and several nieces and nephews, including David and Donnie Soucy and Kristinia and Christopher George.
His Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 10-11AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Donations in Brians name may be made to the Salem Council on Aging, 5 Broad St., Salem, MA 01970.

RILEY, CHRISTOPHER J. -- Christopher J. Riley, 44, went to sleep and woke up an angel on Saturday, December 22, 2007. He was the husband of Evora (Butler) Riley.
Born in Danvers on June 15, 1963, he was the son of Nancy (O'Connor) Riley and the late Thomas Riley. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of the Essex Agricultural School. He had been a resident of Virginia for the last eight years.
Christopher was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed gardening, boating, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves three children: Christopher, Kerin, and Hailey Riley; a sister, Alanna Morin of Williston, North Dakota, two brothers, Thomas Riley of Ipswich, and Bryan Riley of Amesbury, and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
