Noreen F. Burns, 86
Centerville - Noreen F. (Nestor) Burns, 86, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community Manor in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Robert J. Burns, who died in 1998.
Mrs. Burns was born and educated in Cambridge.
She moved to Centerville in 1986 and was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.
She is survived by a son, Edward P. Burns of Milford; a daughter, Sheila F. Burns of West Barnstable; four brothers, John Nestor of West Roxbury, James Nestor of Ariz., Thomas Nestor of Arlington, and Joseph Nestor of Plymouth; two sisters, Mary Barksdale of Watertown and Eleanor Barksdale of Lexington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burns was also the mother of the late Robert N. Burns.
Burial was in Manomet Cemetery, Plymouth.
Mary J. Hayes, 82
Weymouth - Mary J. (Brennan) Hayes, 82, formerly of Centerville, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999 at Logan Health Care Nursing Home, Weymouth.
She was the wife of the late John A. Hayes.
She was born and grew up in Charlestown and lived in Dorchester from 1955 to 1978 and in Centerville from 1978 until last year.
A former communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, Mrs. Hayes enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two sons, John J. Hayes of Naperville, Ill., and Joseph F. Hayes of Marshfield; a daughter, Mary Roberta Hayes of Weymouth; two brothers, Thomas Brennan of Milton and George Brennan of Florida; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery
in Centerville.

Madeline Holland, 86
Hyannis - Madeline Holland, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999 at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care CommunityManor in Hyannis.
Mrs. Holland was educated in the Brookline school system and was a graduate of Newton Country Day School. She then attended Manhattan-ville College in Purchase, N.Y. After college, she worked at the 1934 World's Fair. Her job was to escort the VIPs around the fairgrounds.
Mrs. Holland moved to Cape Cod the first time in 1970 and settled in Centerville. In 1990 she moved to Yarmouth.
She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. She was also a member of The Sacred Heart Children of Mary.
Mrs. Holland was an avid crafter.
She is survived by a son, John Holland of Annapolis, Md.; two daughters, Elisa Holland-McCaffrey of San Clemente, Calif., and Lynne Holland of Washington , D.C.; two grandchildren; and a niece.
Mildred E. O'Malley, 81
Centerville - Mildred E. (Dorney) O'Malley, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999 at the Normandy House senior care center in Melrose after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph P. O'Malley.
Born in South Boston, Mrs. O'Malley lived in Centerville for 17 years, in Malden for 31 years and previously in Everett.
She was a 1935 graduate of Everett High School. She graduated from Fisher College and attended secretarial school for two years.
A homemaker, Mrs. O'Malley was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a former Girl Scout leader and a volunteer with the Bookcart at Cape Cod Hospital and the Meals-on-Wheels organization.
Surviving are six children, Joanne O'Connor of Westwood, Raymond N. O'Malley of Easton, Kevin O'Malley of Somerville, Janice Leotine of Woburn, Joseph O'Malley of Rawley and Deborah Kelly of Centerville; three sisters, Ethel McNamara of Malden, Martha Barry of Everett and Madeline Connelly of Malden; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Everett A. Shekleton, 86
Hyannis - Everett Adams Shekleton, 86, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital in after a long illness.
He was the husband of Charlotte Shekleton.
Born, raised and educated in Worcester, Mr. Shekleton graduated from Worcester Academy and Harvard Business School.
After his education, he spent some time as a broker. He was the vice president of Alden Corrugated Corporation in New Bedford.
Mr. Shekleton retired to Osterville in 1980. He enjoyed fishing the Cape Cod shoreline.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Everett Adams Shekleton Jr. of Corbin, Ky.; a daughter, Deborah Boys of Kentucky; and two grandchildren

William R. Temple, 74
Hyannis - William Russell Temple, 74, a longtime Hyannis resident, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital.
Born, raised and educated in Dorchester, Mr. Temple served in the Army during World War II. Following his service, he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where he worked for the next 30 years at area hospitals.
Mr. Temple moved to Hyannis in 1977, where he started work as an officer in the Security Department at Cape Cod Hospital. He retired in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing and cruising often to Bermuda.
Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
David L. Berkeley, 84
Hyannis - David L. Berkeley, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999 at Cape Cod Hospital.
He was the husband of Patricia E. (Gretchen) Berkeley.
Mr. Berkeley was born and educated in Brighton. During World War II, he was a member of ground support for the 8th Air Force 358 Fighter Group in England. He received a unit commendation Medal of Valor from Gen. James Doolittle for outstanding heroism.
Mr. Berkeley lived in Dorchester and Stoughton while working for 30 years as a manager at Boston Motor Parts, and then as the manager of the Chrysler Automotive Warehouse Distribution Center in Natick until his retirement at age 63. He moved to Hyannis 18 years ago.
He was an active member of St. Ambrose Parish in Dorchester and then of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
He was a voracious reader and enjoyed playing golf.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, David J. Berkeley of Revere, Robert J. Berkeley of Monument Beach and Dennis R. Berkeley of Cranston, R.I.; two daughters, Patricia M. Watson of Hingham and Catherine M. Gould of Newton; a brother, Ludlow W. Berkeley of Brighton; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was at Massachusetts National Cemetery
in Bourne.

Vladas Jancauskas, 89
Hyannis - Vladas Jancauskas, 89, a Hyannis resident and accountant, died unexpectedly at Cape Cod Hospital on Friday, Feb. 12, 1999.
He was the husband of Danute Balta Janson.
Mr. Jancauskas was born, raised and educated in Lithuania. He graduated from the Military Academy and the Lithuania Teachers College. After moving to the United States, he earned his accounting degree and worked as an accountant.
He came to Cape Cod 29 years ago and built his house in Hyannis.
Mr. Jancauskas was an avid reader and history buff. He enjoyed spending time in his raspberry and flower gardens.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Andrius Balta of Hingham and Raymond Balta of West Bridgewater; a daughter, Kristina Adomanis of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
Richard J. Kelley, 65
Hyannis - Richard J. Kelley, 65, a former personnel director and chamber of commerce director, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1999 at the Bourne Manor Nursing Home in Bourne after a brief illness.
Born in Boston, Mr. Kelley was a 1952 graduate of Quincy High School. He also attended the Bentley School of Accounting.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
After returning home from the war, Mr. Kelley moved to the Brockton area and was director of personnel with the UBS Chemical Co. in Cambridge. He later relocated to Nashua, N.H., where he was director of personnel with R and M Associates.
After that, Mr. Kelley moved to Laconia, N.H., and then to Rutland, Vt., in each town working as director of the chamber of commerce.
Mr. Kelley moved to Hyannis in 1981, where he was the first director of the chamber of commerce. He retired from the chamber of commerce in the mid-1980s and was the executive director of the Rotary Club of Boston.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah L. Gannon of Hyannis; a son, Kevin Michael Kelley of Hyannis; a brother, Howard F. Kelley of Connecticut; a sister, Carol Marsh of Holbrook; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
