Cathleen (Burrell) Johnston, 72, of Ayer
AYER: M.Cathleen "Cathy" (Burrell) Johnston, 72, of 8 Holmes Street, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer after an illness.
Mrs. Johnston was born in Fitchburg, December 4, 1934, the daughter of Thomas C. and Katharine E. (Donahue) Burrell and was a lifelong Ayer resident. She was a 1952 graduate of Ayer High School.
Mrs. Johnston is survived her husband of 53 years, Peter K. Johnston, four sons and three daughters in law; Kevin A. and Susan Johnston of Shirley, Thomas F. and Sharon Johnston of Farmington, NH, Timothy P. and Cheryl of Ayer, Keith P. Johnston of Ayer, two daughters and their husbands; Karen M. and Ted Januskiewicz Jr. of Ayer, Colleen M. and Peter Suddath of Savannah, GA. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, Sarah A. Gibbons, Jeremy S. Januskiewicz, Megan E. Roy, Andrea Johnston, Kelsey Johnston, Kyle M. Suddath, Devin C. Suddath, Gregory Johnston, Lauren Johnston, Dawn Weeks, Jessica Macdonald, Samantha Place, and four great grandchildren; Sarah E. Gibbons, Chloe Weeks, Brian Weeks, Aiden Place.
She was the sister of the late Thomas Burrell of Ayer.
For over 40 years Mrs. Johnston worked as a newspaper reporter for the Lowell Sun. She was also a correspondent for the Boston Globe and, more locally, the Public Spirit.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Ayer and a member of its Catholic Daughters of America. For over 30 years, she assisted her husband in his role as the caretaker of St. Mary's Cemetery, Ayer.
She enjoyed caring for and especially enjoyed raising boxers. She was an avid Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots Fan.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday at St. Mary's Church, 31 Shirley Street, Ayer. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Garnett Carl Johnson, 79, of Ashby
ASHBY: Garnett Carl Johnson, 79, of 55 Bernhardt Road, died Saturday, November 24th at the UMass- Memorial Hospital Worcester after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor I. (Bernhardt) Johnson, three sons and their wives; Kenneth B. and Cathrine Johnson, Robert C. and Joyce Johnson and Daniel W. and Sheryl Johnson all of Ashby, two daughters; Leola I. Mailloux of East Templeton and Katherine L. Chase of Ashby, a brother, Robert J. Johnson of Mt. Morris, Michigan. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was born in Anawalt, West Virginia, November 22, 1928, a son of Jesse James and Leola (Clyburn) Johnson and resided in Ashby for over 55 years.
For 20 years Mr. Johnson served his country in the United States Army, retiring in 1966 at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Following his retirement from the armed forces, Mr. Johnson worked 21 years at Simonds Cutting Tools in Fitchburg, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Ashby Congregational Church, the Ashby American Legion Post as well as the Townsend VFW.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Wednesday, November 28th at the Ashby Congregational Church, Main Street, Ashby Center. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby.

Geraldine P. (Pauley) Koski Hallett, 87, of Shirley
SHIRLEY: Geraldine P. (Pauley) Koski Hallett, 87, of 32 Harvard Road, died Saturday, November 24th at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer.
She was the wife of Howard Hallett who died in 2004 and Milo Koski who died in 1978.
Mrs. Hallett was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, December 15, 1919, a daughter of George and Margaret (Purcell) Pauley and resided most of her life in Shirley. She attended the Shirley and Ayer Public Schools.
She is survived by a son; Denny Koski of Springfield, Virginia, a brother and sister in law; Chet and Jane Pauley of Shirley, a sister and brother in law; Alice and John Hebert of Shirley, two grandchildren; Michael Koski of Weare, NH and Debbie Heath of Plympton, Massachusetts. She also leaves eight great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late David Koski of Shirley who died in 1981 and the sister of the late Frances "Tiny" English also of Shirley.
For 15 years, Mrs. Hallett worked for the Massachusetts National Guard, retiring in 1979. Prior to that she and her sister in law, Annie Cournoyer, owned and operated a 'canteen vehicle' serving coffee and food items to several companies in the area.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Shirley and a member of its Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Shirley Golden Agers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Thursday at St. Anthony's Church, 14 Phoenix Street, Shirley. Burial will be in Village Cemetery.

G. Richard Gile, 58, of Lancaster
LANCASTER: G. Richard 'Dick' Gile, 58, of Kaleva Road, died Saturday, November 17th at his home after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Fern I. (Wheeler) Gile, three daughters and two sons in law; Kathleen K. Norman and Colleen E. and Brian Boomgaarden both of Lancaster, Tracy A. and Michael Slocumb of Shirley, 5 grandchildren; Caitlin Norman, Matthew Norman, Adam Boomgaarden, Connor Boomgaarden and Grace Slocumb.
He was born in Fitchburg, December 1, 1948, a son of the late George and Ann (Conroy) Gile and grew up in Fitchburg. He was a 1966 graduate of Fitchburg High School.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 170.

Arthur Foisy, 58, formerly of Townsend
MERRIMACK, NH : Arthur Foisy Jr., 58, of 28 Caldwell Lane, formerly of 3 Birch Lane, Townsend, MA and Taunton, MA died unexpectedly Sunday, November 18th St. Joseph's Hospital, Nashua after being stricken ill at his home earlier that day.
Mr. Foisy was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, May 5, 1949, a son of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Lemilin) Foisy and resided many years in Townsend before moving to Merrimack, NH three years ago.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol (Rezendes) Foisy, two daughters and a son in law; Jennifer J. and Michael Tashjian of Norwood, Cathleen M. Foisy of Hanahan, South Carolina, a sister; Teresa Mastrantuono of New Mexico, three grandchildren; Cole Tashjian, Lynsey Tashjian and Georgia Tashjian.
He was predeceased by one sister, Cecile LeClerc of Taunton.
Mr. Foisy served in the United States Navy from 1969 - 1970.
Mr. Foisy was a 1967 graduate of Coyle Cassidy High School in Taunton. He received his Associates in Science Degree in Accounting from Johnson & Wales College in Providence and later graduated from the GTE Sylvania Technical Institute in Waltham.
For the past three years, he worked as a television technician at Tops Electronics in Haverhill. Prior to that he worked at Circuit City in Burlington and Nashua, NH and for many years at North American Phillips Electronics.
While residing in Townsend he attended St. John's Church in Townsend.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am Saturday, November 24th at St. John's Church, 1 School Street, Townsend, MA. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend.

Milton E. Flood, 80, formerly of Townsend
IVERNESS, FLORIDA : Milton E. Flood Jr, 80, of Inverness FL formerly of Townsend, passed away Tuesday Nov. 13 at the Hospice House of Citrus County in Lecanto, Florida.
He was born in Fitchburg, March 9, 1927, the son of Milton and Martha Flood and resided many years in Townsend before moving to Florida in 1989. He attended the Fitchburg Public Schools.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara M. (McGregor) Flood, a son and daughter in law, Robert M. and Ann Flood of Templeton, a grand son, Robert T. Flood of North Adams. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Milt worked many years as a butcher. He was a meat manager for the Victory Supermarket Chain in Fitchburg as well as the Donelan's Supermarket in Littleton before retiring from Romano's Market in Fitchburg in 1985.
During WW II He served his country in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4337 in Inverness and the Floral City Fishing Club. He volunteered at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park for several years.
He enjoyed photography, camping at Willard Brook State Park in Townsend, fishing and working with computers.
Funeral services will be private.

Dr. John E. Fleming, 86, formerly of Pepperell
PEPPERELL: Dr. John E. Fleming, 86, a former longtime resident of Townsend Street, died Wednesday evening surrounded by the love and care of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret D. (Walsh) Fleming, five children; Mary Ann Fleming and her husband Paul McGowan of Cape Neddick, Maine, Dr. Gregory J. Fleming and his wife, Ruth Ann of Short Hills, New Jersey, Beth F. Birkett and her husband, Gary of Milford, NH, Mercedes Roy and her husband Philippe of Exeter, NH, Claudia Fleming and her fiance, George Bitar of New York City. He leaves nine grandchildren; Lauren F. Pavlidis, Elise Birkett, Reid Birkett, Genevieve Fleming, Christopher Fleming, Rebecca Fleming, Meredith Roy, Morgan Grandi and Christian Grandi. He also leaves his dearest friend and "brother" Holden C. Harlow of Westfield, Massachusetts.
He was the brother of the late Kathleen Mager of South Yarmouth.
John was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, January 12, 1921, the son of Edward J. and Nora T. (Connolly) Fleming. He resided in Pepperell for over 30 years, later residing in Homosassa Spings, Florida and Manchester, NH.
During WW II he valiantly served his country in the United States Air Force. During his 36 months of service he was assigned to the 415th Night Fighter Squadron as a B29 Crew Chief, primarily stationed in North Africa and Italy, serving in seven campaigns.
A graduate of Lawrence Academy in Groton, Massachusetts, upon his return from his tour of duty, he attended St. Anslem College where he attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics, magna cum laude. It was while studying at St. Anslem that John met and married his lovely wife, Margaret.
After graduating from Tufts Dental School, John and Peggy resided in Pepperell, Massachusetts where they built a dental practice. For three decades he was dedicated to the care of his patients. A quiet philanthropist, he regularly gave to religious and educational institutions.
Dr. Fleming was a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and was a member of the dental staff at the Nashoba Community Hospital, Ayer. He was elected to the Pepperell Board of Health and served on the Hawthorne Brook Elementary School and Varnum Brook Middle School Building Committees. He was a former member and past president of the Groton-Pepperell Rotary Club. He also served as a trustee to the Pepperell Public Library. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Pepperell.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday at St. Joseph's Church, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Karen L. Denmark 36, of Ayer
AYER: Karen L. Denmark, 36, of 6 Old Towne Road, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Emerson Hospital, Concord from complications associated with Multiple Sclerosis.
Karen was born in Leominster, October 29, 1971, a daughter of Joseph and Moriento "Lil" (Marshall) Denmark and was a lifelong resident of Ayer. She was a 1989 graduate of Ayer High School and while there participated in Powder Puff Fooball.
Besides her Mother who resides in Ayer and her Father of Lowell, she is survived by her daughter; Qiana R.H. Denmark of Ayer, her maternal grandmother; Annie Marshall of Columbus, Georgia, two sisters; Delborah Denmark of Ayer, Kara Scolaro of Tamworth, NH, her nephews; Desmond Davis of Ayer. She also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Karen had worked as a teacher's aide at the Page Hilltop School in Ayer as well as an accounts payable clerk at the Zyplex Electronics Company on Boxboro.
She was a member of the New Hope Community Church in Ayer and had assisted in the Ayer Girl Scout program.
