Aldys Squire Chapman, 91, of New Vernon, N.J. and long time resident of Nantucket, died on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006 at home. A private burial will take place in West Orange, N.J. and memorial service on Nantucket at a later date.
Grafton S. Kennedy Jr., 80, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 in Dover, N.H. His wife, Avery Harder Kennedy, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 in Dover, N.H. Both were longtime summer residents of Nantucket and also lived in Dayton, Ohio, and Spruce Creek, Fla.Their remains will be interred Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
James C. Sisk, M.D., 83, of St. Louis, Mo. and Nantucket, died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006.
Gertrude Dimmick Andersen, 88, of Denver, Pa. and the mother of Robert Andersen of Nanucket, died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006 at Luther Acres in Lititz, Pa. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 6 at noon, with a Viewing from 11a.m. to noon in the Roseboro Funeral Home at 533 Walnut St., in Denver with Rev. E. Walter Cleckley officiating. Interment will be held in Swamp cemetery in Reinholds, Pa.
Jacquelin Begien Dawson, 74, of Culpeper, Va. and a long-time summer resident of Nantucket, died in Culpepper on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006. Services were held in Orange, Va. Sept. 29. A graveside service was held Sept. 30 in Richmond, Va.
Lillian Hardy, 91, of Nantucket and Polley’s Island, S.C., died on Monday, Oct. 2, 2006 at Nantucket Cottage. A private family graveside service will be held. A celebration of life memorial service is planned for next summer.
Gerald H. Keltz, 88, of Vero Beach, Fla., died on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 in Vero Beach.
Beverly A. Caswell, 73, of Centerville, Mass. and formerly of Nantucket, died on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at Windsor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth, Mass. A funeral service was held on Sept. 26. Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery on Sept. 27.
George F. Dalzell, 85, of Lynnfield, Mass., died on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery in West Roxbury, Mass.
James C. Davidson, 62, of Nantucket, died on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at home. A wake will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 at Lewis Funeral Parlor at 42 Union St. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
John Langdon Frothingham, 88, of New Canaan, Conn. and a long-time summer resident of Nantucket, died on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006 at his home in New Canaan. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at St. Mark’s Church in New Canaan.
James E. Wordell, 90, of New Bedford, died on Friday, Sept. 22 at home. Visiting hours were held on Sept. 24. Funeral arrangements were private.
Jean (Lee) Annese, 79, of Westfield N.J. and a long-time summer resident of Nantucket, died on Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 at The Chelsea in Fanwood, N.J. Services were private.
Inge H. Dagesse, 79, of Nantucket, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, after a long illness. Her friends and family will gathered on Sept. 24, 2006 at the Jetties for a celebration of her life.
Abigail Alvarez, 57, of Orlando, Fla. and formerly of Nantucket, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 in Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. She will be buried at her home in Coamo, Puerto Rico. A funeral service will be held on Aug. 31 in Coamo. A memorial service was held on Sept. 27 at Summer Street Church.
Norman Basil Bourque, 77, of Hyannis, Mass. and the longest serving captain of the Nantucket Light Ship, died on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. A funeral for Mr. Bourque will be held on Monday, Sept. 18 at Ames Funeral Home at 160 West Main St. in Hyannis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Francis Xavier Church on South St. in Hyannis. Burial will be in Massachusetts National cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Patricia Eileen Reed, 52, of Nantucket, died on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 surrounded by her family.
Joseph Powell, 75, of Fairfield, Conn. and formerly of Nantucket, died on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a brief illness. A private service honoring his life will be held at a later date, as well as interment on Nantucket.

Martha W. Davis, of West Hartford, Conn. and a long-time summer resident of Nantucket, died on Monday, Aug. 14, 2006. A private graveside service was held on Aug. 17 at Cedar Hill cemetery in Hartford.
Amos A. Green, 50, of Nantucket, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass. A graveside service was held on Aug. 26 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, officiated by Father Caron.
John B. Schymik, 66, of Evansville, Ind. and Nantucket, died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass.. Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Road in Evansville. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Evansville.
James Howard Rolston, 82, of Martha’s Vineyard, died on Aug. 24, 2006. There will be a private graveside service at the Massachusetts National cemetery in Bourne, Mass. with full military honors. There will be a celebration of Mr. Rolston’s life on Sunday, Sept. 24 at noon at the Portuguese American Club on Vineyard Avenue in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard.

David H. Finch, 60, of Melrose, Mass., died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. A fall memorial service is planned.
John “Jack” Stephen Hanlon, 71, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and the father of Mary “Beth” Hanlon of Nantucket, died Monday, June 26, 2006 after a short illness. A memorial service was held on July 29 at Mr. Alvernia Chapel in Wappinger Falls, N.Y. A second memorial service will be held in October at St. Bridget’s Church in Maynard, Mass.
Charles Church Marvel, 86, of Rochester, N.Y. and a long-time visitor to Nantucket, died Friday, June 30, 2006 in Rochester. A memorial service will be held Aug. 12 in Rochester.
Virginia Ord, 77, of Nantucket, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Fair Street at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5.

George Henry Simonds III, 93, of Belmont, Mass. and Sconset, died Sunday, July 30, 2006. A service will be held Friday, Aug. 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Belmont Hill School chapel at 350 Prospect St. in Belmont.
Phyliis Fisher Glidden, 72, wife of Charles "Bud" Glidden of Nantucket and Elenton, Fla., died Saturday, July 29, 2006. Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Nantucket at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31 with interment to follow at the Fisher family plot at St. Mary's cemetery on Nantucket.
Kathryn Marie (Keenan) Doty, 79, of Vero Beach, Fla. and the mother of Sheryl Ramos of Nantucket, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006. A celebration of her life will be held Nov. 4 2006 in Apollo Beach, Fla. Her ashes will be spread over the Indian River in Vero Beach, and a plaque bearing her name will be placed next to her husband’s at the Veterans cemetery and Memorial Garden at Bay Pines, Fla.
