Alfred R. Ames, 69
Marstons Mills - Alfred "Al" R. Ames, 69, died unexpectedly at his home Oct. 10, 1998.
He was the husband of Lorraine (Pittsley) Ames.
Mr. Ames was born in Assonet. In 1966 he moved to Marstons Mills from Attleboro.
Mr. Ames served in the Army during the Korean War.
He worked for 37 years for New England Telephone in Attleboro, Taunton and Hyannis. In 1989 he retired from special operations.
Mr. Ames was a member of the Cape and Islands Chapter of Korean War Veterans Association and the V.F.W. in Hyannis. He was a firefighter for more than 10 years for the Marstons Mills Fire Department.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jaequeline Capute and Debra J. French, both of Centerville; two sons, Brian R. Ames of Turner, Maine, and Kevin. P. Ames of Marstons Mills: his mother, Doris (Travis) Ames of Taunton; two brothers, Thomas Ames of Raynham and George Ames of Acushnet; a sister, Ruth Gagne of Assonet; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, Marstons Mills.
Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Elizabeth C. Bailey, 93
Centerville - Elizabeth C. (Crosby) Bailey, 93, a homemaker, died Oct. 5, 1998 at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community Manor, Hyannis, after an illness.
She was the wife of the late John E. Bailey.
Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Mrs. Bailey lived there before moving to the United States, where she and her family settled in Brighton. She moved to Centerville from the Needham area in 1971.
A homemaker for many years, she was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Needham and attended services at the United Methodist Church in Osterville.
She loved flower gardening.
Surviving are a son, Robert E. Bailey of Centerville; a daughter, Sandra TerVeen of Port Richey, Fla; a sister, Thelma Allen of Nova Scotia; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late Cynthia Sawyer and Florence Thomas.
Funeral services and burial were private.

Antone Botelho, 69
Hyannis - Antone Botelho, 69, a retired custodian, died unexpectedly Oct. 9, 1998 at his home.
Mr. Botelho was born, raised and educated in Falmouth. He moved to Hyannis 25 years ago.
He was a custodian at Cape Cod Academy until his retirement.
He is survived by three brothers, Manuel "Zazu" Botelho of Teaticket, Jack "Jackie" Botelho and Joseph "Crocker" Botelho, both of Falmouth; a sister, Josephine McDonald of Newport. R.I.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony's Church, East Falmouth. Burial followed at St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Milton Stamm, 90
Hyannis - Milton Stamm, 90, formerly of West Yarmouth, died Oct. 5, 1998 at the Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion.
Born in Boston, Mr. Stamm was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and lived in Arlington and Acton before moving to Harwich in 1966. He moved to West Yarmouth in the early 1980s.
Mr. Stamm owned the Empire Grill, a restaurant in Somerville, and also was a liquor salesman for Contas Liquors in Boston. He then worked as an import-export manager for Cambridge Thermoic for 20 years until his retirement in 1966.
Surviving are three sons, Milton Stamm of Medford, Robert G. Stamm of San Diego and Alan E. Stamm of Mashpee; two daughters, Lois McNamara of Las Vegas and Carol Stamm of Havlock, N.C.; a sister, Zoe Poole of McLean, Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial were private.
Robert Teed Cunningham
Osterville - Robert Teed Cunning-ham, 84, a Cape resident for many years, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Katherine G. Cunningham.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to the Cape more than 20 years ago and lived in Osterville for several years. He received his undergraduate degree from Webb Institute of Naval Architecture, Glenn Cove, N.Y., and his postgraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He was conscripted by the U.S. government during World War II to design Liberty ships.
Following the war, Mr. Cunningham joined Bethlehem Steel Corp., where he was employed until 1958 when he became an independent naval architectural consultant, working in both private and public sectors around the world.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Patricia "Mollie" Sullivan of Stamford, Conn.; a son, Robert Teed Cunningham Jr. of Fairfax, Va.; two stepsons, Ernest H. Osgood of Centerville and Peter G. Osgood of Southport, Conn.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Oct. 24 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Osterville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Arbor Fund at The Wianno Club in Osterville.
Alleta Mae Lopes, 66
Hyannis - Alleta Mae (Potter) Lopes, 66, died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998.
Mrs. Lopes was married to Gerald Lopes Sr. for 31 years.
She was born in Hyannis, and was educated in Falmouth and Hyannis, working briefly at Cape Cod Candle Company. Most of her life she was a homemaker who took great pride in her family, and loved birds and crocheting.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Althea Marks of Falmouth; three sons, Patrick O'Brien of Framingham, William F. Lopes of Hyannis, Gerald Lopes Jr. of Falmouth; three daughters, Michelle Sanchez of Hyannis, Jennffer Monaco of Georgia, Tamara Allen of Hyannis; 12 grandchildren, two grcat-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A service was held at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, Hyannis.

Jeannette M. Riley, 67
Hyannis - Jeannette M. (Lavoie) Riley, 67, head housekeeper at the Hyannis Inn Motel for more than 25 years, died of cancer at her home on Friday, Oct. 16, 1998.
She was the wife of Charles W. Riley for 49 years.
Born in Franklin, N.H., she was raised and married in Dover, N.H. She moved to the Cape in 1971.
Mrs. Riley loved to fish and would go on overnight trips with Captain John's Boat of Plymouth.. She also enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting in her spare time.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Nancy A. Quillen of Hyannis and Theresa E. Lawrence of West Yarmouth; a son, Phillip A. Riley of the Philippines; a sister, Anita Labrie of Rochester, N.H.; a brother, Robert Lavoie of Manchester, N.H.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Mary B. Black, 74
Osterville - Mary Bernadette Black, 74, a former parish housekeeper, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1998 at a friend's home in Osterville after a long illness.
Born in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, she was the housekeeper at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville for many years.
She is survived by four sisters, Rose Quinn of Dundalk, Pearl Wallace of London, Blona Hindle of Preston, England, and DeLores Chadwin of Birmingham, England; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.

Austin J. Boyle, 89
Centerville - Austin J. Boyle, 89, a Cape resident for 27 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community Manor in Hyannis after an illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (Keough) Boyle.
Born, raised and educated in County Mayo, Ireland, Mr. Boyle moved to Hartford, Conn., in his early 20s. He worked for more than 40 years for Royal Typewriter in Hartford, Conn., until retiring in 1971 from the shipping department.
Mr. Boyle and his wife vacationed on the Cape for a number of years and moved to Centerville upon his retirement. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time at Craigville Beach.
He is survived by a niece, Maureen Kovic of Centerville; a nephew, John Boyle of East Hartford, Conn.; and many other nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Church, Centerville.
