FITCHBURG -- Marguerite I. "Rita" Coughlin, 81, of 8 Holt St., died Monday, March 25, in Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Fla., while on vacation.
She leaves a sister, Barbara C. Barry of Morristown, N.J.; two nephews, William Barry of Carlsbad, Calif., and John Barry of Burlington, Vt.; and a niece, Nancy Bruce of Madison, N.J. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of William M. and Anna A. (McGuane) Coughlin. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1938 and received a business degree in economics from Radcliff College, Cambridge, in 1942.
Ms. Coughlin was an economist at Federal Reserve Bank, Boston, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Bernard's Parish and the Radcliff College Alumni Association.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 2, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard's Church Restoration Fund, 240 Water St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Domenic T. Scano, 82

WORCESTER -- Domenic T. Scano, 82, of 91 Standish St., died Saturday, March 30, in Integrated Health Services after an illness.
He leaves a brother, Gaetano D. "Danny" Scano of Worcester; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Four brothers, Mauro A., John, Sam and Louis A. Scano, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas and Memia (Santora) Scano, and was educated in Worcester public schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant.
Mr. Scano, with his brothers, founded and operated Scano's Bakery for many years before retiring. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
The funeral service will be private in Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home & Garden Chapel, 179 Shrewsbury St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are private.
Homer G. Henley, 75

SHREWSBURY -- Homer G. Henley, 75, of Dalton Drive, a retired machine designer and World War II veteran, died Thursday, April 4, at the Hospice Residence, Worcester, after a long struggle with a brain tumor.
He leaves his wife, Doris (Dean) Henley; two sons, Gordon D. Henley, of Potomac, Md. and James D. Henley of Cromwell Conn.; a sister, Ann H. Mitchell, of Oxford; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. A sister, Marion H. Dwight, predeceased him. He was born in Barrington, R.I., son of Gordon C. and Winnifred (Homer) Henley. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Henley was a machine designer for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., for many years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church.
Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Coes Pond Hospice Residence c/o VNA of Central MA, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608. Rudolph L. Jurdak, 77

WORCESTER -- Rudolph L. Jurdak, 77, of 56 Holden St. and 153 76th St. in Brooklyn, N.Y., a World War II veteran and a retired bank worker, died Monday, April 1, in his Worcester home.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Helen M. (Rowinski) Jurdak; two sons, Dr. James P. Figueroa of Worcester and Michael P. Jurdak of Brooklyn; and five grandchildren. He was born in New York City, son of Lawrence and Barbara (Muzack) Jurdak. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Jurdak was an assistant chief for the New York Federal Reserve Bank for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church, Brooklyn. Locally, he attended St. George's Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 157 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15033, both in Brooklyn.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be at the family's convenience. Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 157, 345 78th St., Brooklyn, NY 11209.

UXBRIDGE -- Thomas P. Kowalczyk, 54, of 44 Carney St., a Vietnam War veteran, died Wednesday, April 3, at home, after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Ellen C. (McGowan) Kowalczyk of Auburn; a daughter, Kristin L. Kowalczyk of Northbridge; a brother, Michael L. Kowalczyk of Uxbridge; and a grandson. His stepmother, Katherine E. (Flannigan) Kowalczyk, predeceased him. He was born in Milford, son of John S. and Amanda (Goulet) Kowalczyk, and lived in Uxbridge most of his life. He graduated from Uxbridge High School, and Johnson and Wales College in Providence. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Kowalczyk was an electronic technician at LTX Corp. of Westwood for 25 years, retiring because of illness.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, April 6, in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Road. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity.
Esther E. Lamothe, 90,

WORCESTER -- Esther E. (Irwin) Lamothe, 90, of 70 Outlook Drive, died Friday, April 5, in St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves a son, Wayne Lamothe of Charlton; four daughters, Jana Lamothe of Oxford, Fayrene Marquis of Rutland, Nina Robinson of Millbury, and Lou-Ann Smith of Buzzards Bay; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her first husband, Wilson Boudreau, died in 1958, and her second husband, Edmond H. Lamothe, died in 1979. A daughter, June E. L'Heureux of Worcester, died in 1995. She was born in Hardwick, daughter of Thomas J. and Elizabeth (Wylie) Irwin.
Mrs. Lamothe was a sales clerk for Grant's Department Store & Barnard Department Store, retiring in 1972. She was a charter member of the Auburn Emblem Club, and was a former member of Old South Church.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 8, in Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St.(www.royfuneral.com). Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, April 8, in the funeral home.

WORCESTER -- Freda G. (Gilbert) Levy, 73, formerly of Leominster, died Saturday, April 6, in Blaire House of Worcester after a long illness.
She leaves a son, Charles E. Levy of Leominster; two daughters, Suzanne Wall of Wascilla, Alaska and Phyllis McDonnell of Bolton, Conn.; a brother, Marvin Gilbert of Laguna Woods, Calif.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Jasper, Ala., daughter of Eskell and Anna (Wilkof) Gilbert, and she lived in Leominster and in Florida before she moved to Worcester in 1989.
Cremation will be in Rural Crematory. There are no calling hours. Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St., is directing arrangements.
M. Barbara Lynch, 100

FITCHBURG - M. Barbara (Bresnahan) Lynch, 100, of 53 Brigham Park, a retired elementary school teacher, died Thursday, April 4, at home, after an illness.
Her husband, Philip J. Lynch, died in 1945. She leaves a daughter, Jane Warren of Fitchburg, with whom she lived; a grandson, Sean Warren of Beverly Hills, Fla.; a granddaughter, Barbara Luczynski of Springhill, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of the John F. and Jane E. (Killelea) Bresnahan, and lived here all of her life. She graduated in 1919 from Fitchburg High School and in 1921 from Fitchburg Normal School.
Mrs. Lynch was an elementary school teacher in the Fitchburg school system from 1926 to 1967. She was a member of St. Bernard's Church and the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 10, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. A calling hour is 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the funeral home.
