WORCESTER -- Michael Suuberg, 90, of Worcester, formerly of Patchogue, N.Y., died Saturday, March 30, in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.
Violet E. Sykes, 89

MILLBURY- Violet E. (Oger) Sykes, 89, formerly of 27 Hawthorne St., died Saturday, March 23, in Providence House for Millbury.
Her husband of 62 years, Harry A. Sykes, died in 1995. She leaves a brother, Kenneth W. Oger of Millbury; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Arthur M. and Celia (Belanger) Oger. She moved to Millbury in 1948.
Mrs. Sykes was a homemaker.
After cremation, the private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oncology Department, St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

BOSTON -- Beverly R. (Haynes) Tatro, 69, of 151 Peter Salem Road, Leicester, died Saturday, March 23, in Jewish Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Her husband, James A. Tatro, died in 1992. She leaves three daughters, Donna M. Gerrol and Linda E. Eisnor, both of Leicester and Bonnie A. Tatro of Worcester; a brother, James Haynes of Auburn; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A son, James F. Tatro, died in 1990. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Frederick and Bertha (Poutre) Haynes, and for a time in Leicester. She attended Worcester schools.
Mrs. Tatro worked at Becker Junior College for many years in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1994.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
The funeral service is private and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. WORCESTER -- Dorothy M. (Richards) Tellier, 78, of 485 Grove St., died Friday, March 22, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a long illness the family has attributed to cigarette smoking.
Her ex-husband, Joseph L. Tellier, died in 1987. She leaves two sons, James J. and Joseph P. Tellier, both of Worcester; two daughters, Sharyn F. Harris and Susan J. Tellier, both of Worcester; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A brother, Harold L. Richards, died in 1993. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Howard Richards and Frances (Currie) Stevens, and graduated from Commerce High School.
Mrs. Tellier was as a structural steel pipe welder for 25 years at the Smith Valve Corp., retiring in 1987.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 26, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave. (oconnorbrothers.com), with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the funeral home. WORCESTER -- Michael A. Tolson, 34, of 66 Parker St., died Friday, March 22, at a relative's home in Midland, Ga.
He leaves his wife, Michelle (Lions) Tolson of Georgia; two stepsons, Louis and Kyle Lions; a sister, Samantha Tolson of Georgia; his mother, Joyce Tolson of Worcester; two brothers, Nelson Tolson of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Tolson of Worcester; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester.
Mr. Tolson worked for Friendly's and Arby's in Worcester.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, in Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the funeral home. WORCESTER -- Ismael Torres, 35, of 58 Cedar St., died Thursday, March 21, in Boston Medical Center.
He leaves two sons, Ismael Torres Jr. and Govoni Torres, both of Worcester; a daughter, Eileen Torres of Worcester; his mother, Rosalina Ramos of Worcester; four brothers, Edgar Torres in Florida, and Hector, Jorge and Edwin Torres, all of Worcester; four sisters, Sonia Olivo of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, Rosa Hernandez of Worcester, Ana Maria Torres in Virginia and Awilda Gonzalez of Clinton; nephews and nieces. He was born in Chicago, son of Ismael Torres, and lived here for 15 years.
Mr. Torres was an auto body mechanic. He enjoyed bicycling and antique cars.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the funeral home.

WORCESTER -- Irene T. (Girardin) Uljua, 88, formerly of 87 Olean St., died Saturday, March 30, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after an illness.
Her husband, William E. Uljua, died in 1999. She leaves a son, Arthur W. Uljua of Worcester; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nephews and nieces. A brother, Albert W. Uljua; and two sisters, Clarice Pierce and Edith Wright, predeceased her. She was born in Leominster, daughter of Joseph A. and Rhea (Beauchene) Girardin, and moved to Worcester in 1939.
Mrs. Uljua was a seamstress for 15 years at David Clark Company, retiring in 1956. She was a member of Christ the King Church.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 2, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the funeral home.

ATHOL -- Russell P. Vescovi Sr., 76, of 54 South Athol Road, a World War II veteran, died Saturday, March 30, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus.
His wife, Jean D. (Sinclair) Vescovi, died in 1972. He leaves his longtime companion, Alice Guerrin of Athol; three sons, Russell P. Vescovi Jr. of Athol, Bernard Johnson of Greenfield and James Vescovi of Orange; three daughters, Dawna Oro of Athol, Lynne Cacciolfi of Orange and Roberta Leichweiss of Wendell Depot; three brothers, Paul Vescovi of Athol, Donald and David Vescovi, both of Orange; 11 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Raymond Vescovi, and a sister, Virginia Dupuis, predeceased him. He was born in Orange, son of Paride and Annabelle (Desrosiers) Vescovi. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and landed on Utah Beach during the D-Day Invasion of France.
Mr. Vescovi worked at Rodney Hunt Company in Orange for 25 years, retiring in 1984. Previously, he had worked at Athol Manufacturing Company for 13 years. He was a former member of Wheelerville Community Club and American Legion Post 172 Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed art, woodworking, hunting and fishing.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 3, from Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 19 Congress St., Orange. Burial will follow in South cemetery in Orange. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the funeral home.

BLACKSTONE - William E. Walenty, 54, of Blackstone, formerly of Mendon, a Vietnam War veteran, died Sunday, March 31, in Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westboro, after a long illness.
He leaves his mother, Louise (Knowlton) Walenty of Mendon; a brother, Stanley Walenty of Upton; two nieces; a great niece and great nephew. He was born in Mendon, son of the late Edward Walenty. He graduated in 1967 from Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket, R.I. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a communications specialist.
Mr. Walenty operated W&W Auto Sales in Milford, and later owned W&W Recovery Auto Sales in Milford. He enjoyed performance sports cars.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, from James E. Kellett & Son Funeral Home, 21 West St., Milford, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Winter Street, Milford. LITTLETON - Ruth E. (Smith) Wheeler, 73, of Littleton, formerly of Leominster, a former bus driver, died Thursday, March 21, in Emerson Hospital from complications of lung cancer.
She leaves her husband, Richard B. Wheeler; three daughters, Kathleen Russell of Leominster, Ruth "Chickie" and Kim Landanno, both of Littleton; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Lewis of New Ipswich, N.H.; three sons, Patrick Landanno of Phillipston, Shawn T. Landanno of Templeton and Mark A. Landanno of Winchendon; two stepsons, Richard Wheeler Jr. of New Ipswich and Donald Wheeler of California; a brother, David Garrett of Pennsylvania; a sister, Grace Cobleigh of Maynard; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her first husband, Patrick Landanno, and a brother, Robert Smith, predeceased her. She was born in Maynard, daughter of Thomas R. and Grace (Wilder) Smith, and lived in Leominster before moving to Littleton 15 years ago. She attended schools in Maynard and Acton.
Mrs. Wheeler was the first female bus driver at F&L Railway Co., Fitchburg. She drove coaches and school buses and was known as "Ma" to school children for more than 30 years. She was a member of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 690. She enjoyed camping and traveling and spent summers in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. She also participated in the Walk for Cancer and was a former 4H equestrian leader in Littleton.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, from Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, King Street. STERLING - Howard A. Whittum, 89, of 4D Jill Lane, formerly of Worcester, a World War II veteran, died Sunday, March 17, at his home.
His wife of 63 years, Edith (Sumner) Whittum, died last year. He leaves a son, Howard A. Whittum Jr. of West Newton; two daughters, Sarah Ann Whittum of Sterling, with whom he lived, and Barbara W. Schroeder of Sewickley, Pa.; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Gordon R. and Warren Whittum, and a sister, Ruth Willard, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Fred E. and Maybel (Warren) Whittum, and moved to Sterling last year. He graduated in 1930 from North High School in Worcester, and in 1934 from WPI, with a degree in chemical engineering. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a captain in Normandy, Belgium and Holland.
Mr. Whittum worked for 24 years at Advance Coatings Company in Westminster, retiring in 1977 as technical director. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Worcester, the American Chemical Society and the Military Order of the World Wars. He was past president of the WPI Old Timers, and a former member of the Men of Song and the Westminster Rotary Club.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, in First Baptist Church, 111 Park Ave., Worcester. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston, in the spring.
