WOODSTOCK- Robert Ellis Ross, 52, of Harrisville Road, a Vietnam War veteran and a retired police lieutenant, died Friday, March 29, at home.

He leaves two daughters, SaraBeth Ross of Seattle and Katielyn Ross of Thompson; his father, Rev. William W. Ross and his wife Ella, of Enfield; his mother, Jean M. Kerr and her husband, Paul of Putnam Heights; five brothers, David A. Ross of Putnam, William H. Ross of Fairfield, Conn., James W. Ross of Enfield, Thomas Ross of Dallas and Robert P. Kerr of Moosup, Conn.; two sisters, Leola Betsy Ross of Seattle and Karleen Kerr Gedney of Moosup; his companion, Carol Parent, with whom he lived; and several nieces. He was born in Cherokee, Iowa. He lived in Putnam for many years, and moved to Woodstock two years ago. He graduated from Quinebaug Valley Community College. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the military police in Korea.

Mr. Ross was a retired lieutenant of the Putnam Police Department. He joined the department as a patrolman, and was promoted to sergeant, and then to lieutenant, before retiring in 1994 after 22 years of service. Most recently, he worked as a truck driver for Champion Container Company of Charlton, and also for the former Hale Manufacturing Company in Putnam. He was a member of the Putnam Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, serving as its president, and holding other offices. He enjoyed horses.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, in Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chaplaincy Program of Day Kimball Hospital, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.

Ida M. Roux, 93,
Wednesday, March 20, 2002

FITCHBURG- Ida M. (Cote) Roux, 93, of 1199 John Fitch Highway, formerly of 279 Daniel St., died Monday, March 18, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.

Her husband, Alcide L. Roux, died in 1971. She leaves two sons, Henry J. Roux of Sagamore Beach and Richard J. Roux of Gardner; a daughter, Rita T. Trainque of Leominster; two brothers, Armand J. Cote of Fitchburg and Rene W. Cote of Westminster; a sister, Theresa Cote of Lunenburg; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, George J. Roux, died in 2000. Four brothers, Ernest, Adelard, Albert and Marcel Cote, and four sisters, Yvonne Rochette, Regina Cote, Jeannette Dionne and Rose Bolduc, also predeceased her. She was born in Princeville, Quebec, daughter of Hector A. and Adelias (Nadeau) Cote, and lived 77 years in Fitchburg. She studied at the convent of the Sisters of the Assumption, The Blessed Virgin Mary, in Princeville.

Mrs. Roux worked at Fitchburg Yarn Co. Previously, she and her husband owned and operated a family grocery store and then Family Shoe Store in Cleghorn. She was a member of St. Joseph Church; a member and past president of the Ladies of St. Anne; and past secretary and treasurer of Ladies of Fatima. She was a leader for the Retreat House in Hudson, N.H., and captain of the Retreat Guild.

The funeral will be held Friday, March 22, from Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, 132 Woodland St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 46 Woodland St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, 46 Woodland St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Wilda E. Roy, 82
Friday, March 29, 2002

UXBRIDGE- Wilda E. (Gadbois) Roy, 82, of Oak Street, died Wednesday, March 27, in Adin Manor Nursing Home in Hopedale.

Her husband, Edward T. Roy, died in 1994. She leaves a son, Edward W. Roy of the Whitinsville section of Northbridge; two daughters, Janet W. Greene and Denise D. Barber, both of Uxbridge; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A son, Norman R. Roy, predeceased her. She was born in Uxbridge, daughter of Henry and Mary Louise (Verrier) Gadbois, and attended Uxbridge schools.

Mrs. Roy worked at the former General Electric Plant in Ashland for 20 years. Previously, she worked for many years in the Uxbridge Worsted and Stanley Woolen Mills, Uxbridge, and the Schuster Mills in East Douglas. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Uxbridge Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1385. She was an accomplished sewer and stitcher.

Graveside funeral services will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery, Granite Street. There are no public calling hours. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Mass. Affiliate, 40 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St., is directing arrangements.

William J. Rybicki, 83

GRAFTON- William J. Rybicki, 83, of 71 Orchard St., South Grafton, a World War II veteran, died Tuesday, March 19, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Stella A. (Kupiec) Rybicki; three sons, Gary W. Rybicki of Upton, Allan W. and Steven J. Rybicki, both of Grafton; a daughter, Juliana Lazaro of Grafton; a brother, Julian Rybicki of Arcadia, Calif.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. An identical twin brother, Walter Rybicki, predeceased him. He was born in Grafton, son of Julian and Barbara (Hospod) Rybicki. He graduated in 1936 from Grafton High School, and later graduated from the Community College of New York. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, a second lieutenant and navigator, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

Mr. Rybicki was a metallurgist for 35 yeas at the former New England High Carbon Company in Millbury, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. James Church, the Polish National Alliance, and a member and retired manager of 30 years of the Polish National Home, all in South Grafton.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, in St. James Church, 89 Main St., South Grafton. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge. There are no calling hours. Misiaszek Funeral Home, 124 Main St., South Grafton, is directing arrangements.

George J. Sage Sr., 89

WORCESTER -- George J. Sage Sr., 89, of 3 Ogden Terrace, a retired inspector, died Monday, April 1, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Mary E. (Tabor) Sage; two daughters, Patricia A. Bousquet and Mary Jane Mancuso, both of Worcester; two sisters, Anna Martel of Worcester and Virginia Mattero of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, George J. Sage Jr. of Worcester, died in 1996. A brother, Anthony G. Sage, and a sister, Stella Gingerelli, both of Worcester, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Barre, son of Steven and Rose (Elavitch) Sage, and lived most of his life in Worcester.

Mr. Sage was an inspector for Heald Machine Co., where he worked for 33 years, retiring in 1978. Previously, he worked for Worcester Cold Storage Co. He was a member of St. Christopher's Church and Alhambra Council 88 Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

The funeral will be held Friday, April 5, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St. (www.worcesterfuneral.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the funeral home.

FITCHBURG- Domenica (Lomaglio) Sansossio, 73, of 48 Winter St., died Tuesday, April 2, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester, after a short illness.

She leaves her husband of 50 years, Joseph A. Sansossio; a son, Joseph Sansossio of Fitchburg; two daughters, Karen Guenette of Leominster and Michelle Maynard of Dallas; two brothers, Paul Lomaglio of Athol and Philip Sansossio of Tuscon, Ariz.; four sisters, Phyllis DeBarge of Leominster, Mary Lomaglio of Fitchburg, Josephine Williams of Chesapeake Bay, Va., and Rosina Menard of Fitchburg; two grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Salvatore and Tomaso Lomaglio, predeceased her. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Gaetano and Rosa (Bellone) Lomaglio.

Mrs. Sansossio worked at Foster Grant Co. in Leominster for 10 years, retiring in 1983. She also volunteered for the SHARE program at Catholic Charities for several years. She was a member of St. Anthony di Padua Church.

The funeral will be held Friday, April 5, from Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the funeral home.

John J. Schwartz, 85

WORCESTER -- John J. Schwartz, 85, of 25 Chadwick St., a World War II veteran, died Monday, March 25, in UMass Memorial Hospital - Memorial Campus after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Juliette L. (Bouvier) Schwartz; three daughters, Judith A. Olson of Beacon Falls, Conn., Jean S. Poteete of Northboro and Jan M. Luksha of Stafford Springs, Conn.; a sister, Elizabeth Maddelena of Worcester; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Two sisters, May Josephson and Margaret Dewitt, and two brothers, Joseph J. Schwartz Jr. and Andrew J. Schwartz, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Anna Schwartz, and graduated from Commerce High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy, and Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Mr. Schwartz served nearly 40 years as a chief warrant officer for the Massachusetts Army National Guard, retiring as an administrative assistant in 1977. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and worked 25 years on the Bishops Fund. He was a member of the Association of the United States Army, National Guard Association of Massachusetts, the National Guard Association of the United States, the 26th Yankee Division, Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association, and Greendale Retired Men's Club.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 27, from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. (www.callahanbrothers.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or donations made to Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605; or to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

He leaves his wife of 30 years, Katherine (Cronin) Silvestris; two sons, Mark Silvestris of San Diego and David Silvestris of Sagamore; a daughter, Ann Marie Conant of North Brookfield; a sister, Phyllis Silvestris of Worcester; and nine grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Albert and Anna (Litto) Silvestris.

Mr. Silvestris was a salesman for Gold Medal Bakery Co. in New Bedford.
