WORCESTER -- Marie A. (Provost) Tinsley, 65, of 83 Olean St., a retired receptionist, died Sunday, Jan. 27, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

She leaves her husband of 45 years, Robert W. Tinsley; two sons, David W. Tinsley of Rutland and John J. Tinsley of Worcester; a daughter, Diane M. Ferriter of Leominster; a brother, Paul O. Provost of Brewster; a grandson; a niece and two nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Roland F. and Grace R. (Roy) Provost.

Mrs. Tinsley was a receptionist in WPI's cafeteria for 10 years, retiring because of illness. She was a member of St. John's Church and enjoyed reading and knitting.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 31, from Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.

James V. Yuscavitch, 82

MOBILE, Ala. -- James V. Yuscavitch, 82, of Mobile, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Thursday, Jan. 24, at home.

He leaves three sisters, Julia Guditis of Mobile, Anne Bluis of Englewood, Fla. and Rose Nanigan of Worcester.

Mr. Yucavitch served in the Navy.

A graveside service and interment was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, P.O. Box 7245, Mobile, AL 36670, is directing arrangements.

Irene R. Lavallee, 91; grandmother of 13

WEBSTER -- Irene R. (Germain) Lavallee, 91, of 19 Westwood Road, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at home.

Her husband of 63 years, Wilfred J. Lavallee Sr., died in 1990. She leaves a son, Robert O. Lavallee of Webster; two daughters, Doris E. Fidebottom and Carol A. Lavallee, both of Webster; a brother, Oliver Germain of Dudley; two sisters, Rita Duclos and Alice Robillard, both of Webster; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two sons, Henry J. Lavallee and Wilfred J. Lavallee Jr., predeceased her. She was born in Oxford, daughter of Isaac and Louisa (Christen) Germain.

Mrs. Lavallee was the owner and bookkeeper of the Lavallee and Sons Trucking Co. for many years, retiring in 1966. She was a member of St. Louis Church and its League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed needlework and gardening.

The private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570. Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, is directing arrangements.

Neil F. Driscoll, 65; worked for Oxford school dept.

OXFORD -- Neil F. Driscoll, 65, of 3 Old Southbridge Road, died Thursday, Jan. 31, in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster, after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Barbara J. (Bofonchik) Driscoll; two sons, Scott F. Driscoll of Oxford and Brian F. Driscoll of Lake Worth, Fla.; two daughters, Lori A. Thomas and Kimberly A. Driscoll, both of Oxford; eight grandchildren. He was born and raised in Auburn, son of Francis A. and Irene (Kennen) Driscoll, and lived here 36 years. He graduated from Auburn High School and Worcester Junior College.

Mr. Driscoll worked in the purchasing departments of Worcester Knitting Co. and Owens-Illinois Co., both in Worcester, before retiring. For the past five years, he worked for the Oxford School Department. He enjoyed golfing and playing softball.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. After cremation, burial will be private. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, 1 Bromfield St., Boston, MA 02108.

FITCHBURG -- Helen D. (Kowalik) Bourque Bedard, 77, of 125 East St., died Thursday, Feb. 7, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, Leominster, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 44 years, Raoul A. Bedard; a son, James J. Bourque of Athol; two daughters, Karen Scheider of Attleboro and Cheryl Bedard of Dummerston, Vt.; a brother, Walter Kowalik of Clinton; three sisters, Agnes Pyko of Clinton, Jenny Loomis of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Napoli of Auburn; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. A brother, Chester Kowalik of Lancaster, and a sister, Alice Minnicucci of Clinton, predeceased her. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Stanley and Stephanie (Kwitkowski) Kowalik, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1942. She lived many years in Fitchburg.

Mrs. Bedard worked 10 years as a cashier/ lerk at Victory Supermarkets, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Friendship Club of Fitchburg, and the Eastwood Club.

The funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 11, from Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 59 Walnut St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elevator Fund,

Joseph Gauthier Jr., 71

WEBSTER -- Joseph Gauthier Jr., 71, of 301 School St., a retired tool and die maker, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at home.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Justine S. (Konecny) Gauthier; four sons, Dennis, James and David Gauthier, all of Webster, and Joseph Gauthier of Southbridge; a sister, Doris St. Halaire of Webster; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Leominster, son of Joseph and Alzema (LeFebvre) Gauthier, and lived most of his life in Webster.

Mr. Gauthier worked 30 years for Thomas Smith Co., Worcester.

No funeral service is planned. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity.

FITCHBURG -- Dorothy H. (Holman) Lehtonen, 81, of 28 Martel St., formerly of 125 Connors St., and 899 Flat Hill Road, Lunenburg, died Friday, Feb. 8, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital.

Her husband, Eugene W. Lehtonen, died in 1981. She leaves a son, James M. Palisin of Gardner; a daughter, Barbara J. Wallace of Fitchburg, with whom she lived; a brother; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A son, Kenneth W. Lehtonen, died in 1996. Two sisters, Patricia Gorman and Margaret Demont, predeceased her. She was born in Gardner, daughter of Walter and Helmi (Nyman) Holman.

Mrs. Lehtonen worked in the housekeeping and laundry department of Hillcrest Nursing Home, and previously worked at Foster Grant Co. in Leominster and Conrad's Drive-In Restaurant in Lunenburg.

She was a member of the Finnish Club of Saima.

The funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., is directing arrangements.

Roderick G. Macduff

PRINCETON -- Roderick G. Macduff, 61, of 23 Ball Hill Road, a retired Conrail worker, died Thursday, Feb. 7, at home.

He leaves his wife 39 years, Judith A. (Chuplis) Macduff; two sons, Christopher R. Macduff of Sorrento, Fla., and Craig G. Macduff of Worcester; a brother, Thomas Macduff of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two sisters, Linda Macduff of Florida and Rhonda Macduff of Holden; several nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Roderick E. and Rhoda (Johnson) Macduff, and lived seven years in Princeton. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and had been part of an exchange program with the Canadian Navy.

Mr. Macduff worked for the maintenance and ways department for Conrail, retiring six years ago.

He was a member of the Nimrod Club of Holden, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and coin collector.

Services will be private. There are no calling hours. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Care Hospice Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608. Caswell-King Funeral Home, 1147 Main St., Holden, is directing arrangements.

Helena C. Romanoff, 81
Sunday, February 10, 2002

HARDWICK -- Helena C. Romanoff, 81, of 267 Lower Road, Gilbertville, died Monday, Feb. 4, at home after an illness.

She leaves a sister, Laura S. Romanoff, with whom she lived; nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Walter Czarniecki, Chester S. and Henry S. Romanoff, predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Stanislav C. and Alexandria (Zawalich) Romanoff, and moved to Gilbertville 11 years ago.

Miss Romanoff was an administrative assistant in the auditing department at Fitchburg Savings Bank.

The funeral service was private in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, New Braintree. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hardwick Rescue & Emergency Squad, 385 Lower Road, Hardwick, MA 01031.

Ellen C. Tripp, 89
Sunday, February 03, 2002

THOMPSON -- Ellen C. Tripp, 89, formerly of Ballard Road, died Friday, Feb. 1, at VNA CARE Hospice, Coes Pond Residence, Worcester.

Her husband, Stephen M. Tripp Sr., died in 1997. She leaves two sons, Stephen M. Tripp Jr. of Putnam and Russell H. Tripp of Medford; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was born in Putnam, daughter of Kelton and Eva (Burton) Corbin, and lived in Thompson most of her life. She graduated from Putnam High School in 1932 as the class valedictorian.

Mrs. Tripp was a member of the Methodist Church in Putnam and a former Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking apple pies.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Methodist Church of Putnam, 53 Grove St., Putnam. Burial will be in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA CARE Hospice, Coes Pond Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602 or to the Methodist Church of Putnam, 53 Grove St., Putnam, CT 06260. The Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., is directing arrangements.
