Angelo G. Bucchianeri, 76

West Hyannisport - Angelo G. Bucchianeri, 76, a former sales manager, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 at his home.

He was the husband of Barbara (Pinkham) Bucchianeri.

Mr. Bucchianeri was born in Boston. He graduated from the Lowell Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering.

A World War II veteran, he served as a bombardier in the Amy Air Corps in the Pacific.

Mr. Bucchianeri worked in sales and in the manufacturing of textiles at Merriman Inc. in Boston and later as sales manager for Whitinsville Spinning Ring Co. in North Carolina.

He lived in Millis, in Charlotte, N.C., and in Lake Wylie, S.C., before retiring in 1987 and moving to West Hyannisport.

Mr. Bucchianeri was a member of the Federated Church of Hyannis, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Fraternal Lodge AF & AM in Centerville.

He loved music, especially playing the violin.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Marcia King of Eagle Rock, Calif., and Diane Bucchianeri of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Donald Bucchianeri of Haverhill and Richard Bucchianeri of Westford; a brother, Ezio Bucchianeri of Winchester; a sister, Yolanda Rivers of Foxboro; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Federated Church of Hyannis.

Burial was private.

Helen 0. Burke, 83

Wellesley Hills - Helen D. (Langan) Burke, 83, of Wellesley Hills and Hyannisport, formerly of Stuart, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998 at her home in Wellesley Hills after a long illness.

She was the wife of William J. Burke Jr., who died in 1993.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Burke was raised in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and Girls Latin School. She then became an administrative assistant at Charles Lawrence Co. of Boston.

She was a member of the Wellesley Country Club, Hyannisport Club and Mariners Sands Country Club in Stuart, Fla.

Surviving are four daughters, Maura Morey of Tiburon, Calif., Nancy Solomon of New York City, Ellen Ryan of West Newton and Gail Kingsley of Portland, Ore.; two sons, William J. Burke III of New York City and Christopher K. Burke of Baltimore; and 10 grandchildren.

A funeral Mass in St. Paul's Church in Wellesley was followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Easton, 1 Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA 02139.

Harold F. George, 78

West Barnstable - Harold F. George, 78, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

He was the husband of Florence (Hord) George.

Born in Barnstable, Mr. George graduated from Barnstable High School in 1937 and from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1939. He served in active duty in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945, being discharged as a lieutenant. He sailed for 25 years in the Merchant Marine, retiring as chief engineer. For 10 years, he was the head of the math and science departments of the MEBA Engineering School in Baltimore. From 1981 to 1986, he was the former owner of the Barnstable Harbor Fish and Lobster Co. He served three years as a marine engineer on tugboats for the U.S. Corps of Engineers on the Cape Cod Canal in the mid-1960s.

Mr. George received a commemorative medal from President Boris Yeltsin in 1992 for his service in Russia in 1942. He was a charter member of the Mid-Cape Lions Club; past president of the Barnstable Comedy Club, Barnstable Village PTA and Barnstable Village Civic Association; past commander of the American Legion Barnstable Post 206; member of the American Merchant Marine Veterans Association, Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association, Kittredge Maritime Research Center and Cape Cod YMCA and a former member of the Barnstable Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Meredith M. Glydon of West Barnstable; four sons, David H. George of Vicksburg, Mich., Lloyd H. George of Barnstable, William A. George of Shrewsbury and Eric S. George of Taunton; a brother, Henry George of Hamilton, Ohio; three sisters, Madeleine Perry of Provincetown, Rosamond Tolley of West Yarmouth and Helen Andrews of Chatham; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, West Barnstable. Burial was private.

Pamela R. Tolley, 50

Hyannis - Pamela R. Tolley, 50, a real estate agent, died unexpectedly Monday at the Cape Cod Hospital intensive care unit.

Born in Queens, N.Y., she was educated in Parsippany, N.J., and was a longtime resident of Yarmouth. She received an associate's degree from Fisher Collage and a bachelor's degree from Lesley College.

She was best known for her work as a real estate agent for Joly Realty the Green Co. and Marchildon Associates.

Ms. Tolley was a member of the First Congregational Church in Yarmouthport, Friday Club, Cape Cod Cancer Collaborative and DARE Foster Parents.

She enjoyed reading, outdoor activities, time with family and friends and the view of the pond from her home.

Surviving are a son, Erik Tolley of West Yarmouth; a daughter, Rachel Tolley of South Yarmouth,a brother, Robert Rosenthai of South Portland Maine; and a niece.

A memorial service was held at the Hallett Funeral Home, South Yarmouth.

Adele Turetzky, 77

Hyannis - Adele Turetzky, 77, a former executive secretary, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

Born and raised in Dorchester, she graduated from Dorchester High School in 1938.

Miss Turetzky worked as an executive secretary in the medical field during her career. She worked for many years for the Veterans Administration in Boston and later with Emergency Medical Services in Hyannis.

She was a member of the Falmouth Jewish Congregation and an avid animal lover who loved her cat.

She is survived by a sister, Sylvia A. Turetzky of Hyannis.

A graveside service was held at Jewish Cemetery, East Falmouth.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mortgage Redemption Fund of the Falmouth Jewish Congregation, 7 Hatchville Road, East. Falmouth, MA 02536.

Luke F. Bizinkauskas, infant

Marstons Mills - Luke Francis Bizinkauskas died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998 at Children's Hospital in Boston. He was the infant son of Dr. Paul A. and Christine (Burke) Bizinkauskas of Marstons Mills.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Paul M. Bizinkauskas of Marstons Mills; a sister, Marisa B. Bizinkauskas of Marstons Mills; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Joan Burke of Leicester, his paternal grandmother, Veronica Bizinkauskas of Brockton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Cod Hospital Foundation, Attn.: Maternity Ward, 4 Bayview St., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Antonio De Grace, 67

West Hyannisport - Antonio M. De Grace, 67, a retired restaurant manager, homeless activist and Salvation Amy member, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Mafia G. "Zinha" (De Jesus) De Grace for 35 years.

Mr. De Grace was born, raised and educated in Santu Antao, Cape Verde. He came to America in 1952 and settled in Yonkers. Mr. De Grace worked as a manager at the Windows Restaurant at the World Trade Center in New York City from 1970 until his retirement in 1988. While in Yonkers, Mr. De Grace was very active in the Salvation Army and rose to the rank of sergeant major, the highest deacon. He moved to West Hyannisport in 1980 and worked for Rodriguez Construction Co. in Hyannis.

Mr. De Grace was again very active in the Salvation Army, at first volunteering and in 1992 becoming a full-time employee, working with the homeless. He retired again in 1998 but remained active in the church and community.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, John De Grace of Hyannis and Daniel De Grace of West Hyannisport; a daughter, Ruth De Grace of Hyannis; eight brothers, Albert De Grace, Edwin De Grace, Arthur De Grace, Adolph De Grace, Marciano De Grace, Lionel De Grace and John De Grace, all of New York, and Edward De Grace of Pennsylvania ; three sisters, Adelia De Grace, Stella De Grace and Lydia De Grace, all of New York; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Salvation Army. Burial was private.

Arlene E. Souza, 77

Barnstable - Arlene Eleanor (MacRae) Souza 77, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, after a long illness.

She was the wife of Antone M. Souza.

Mrs. Souza was born in Caribou, Maine, and raised and educated in Barnstable. She was a long-term employee of Angelo's Supermarket. After her retirement, she spent her time assisting the elderly in their homes.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, John W. Souza of Boston and Robert C. Souza of Barnstable; six daughters, Pauline Walsh of Wrentham, Carolyn Legeyet of Mashpee, Glenda Linnell of Centerville, Sandra Souza of Cotuit, Norma Nugent of Yarmouth and Beverly McAuliffe of Hyannis; a brother, Harold MacRae of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, Hyannis.

Burial followed in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Elsie Mae Thackeray, 102

Centerville - Elsie Mae (Wilson) Thackeray, classical singer, pianist and teacher, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998 at the Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville at the age of 102.

She was the wife of the late Alfred Ray Thackeray.

Mrs. Thackeray was born in Brockton in 1895, and at age 3 moved to Cape Cod with her family, where they established L.P. Wilson's Public Market on Main Street in Hyannis.

The business, operated by her parents, Lorenzo Pusey Wilson and Jennie (Eldredge) Wilson, became the largest food store on the Cape at that time.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Thackeray was able to recall for her family the days of her youth when the main roads of Hyannis were not yet paved. It was a time when she enjoyed riding her horse through the woods to Barnstable Harbor.

From an early age, she was called upon to sing or play piano or organ at various social events or at churches including St. Andrew's by the Sea in Hyannisport

Educated in Barnstable schools, she traveled to New York City to study voice and piano when she was still a teenager. She returned to Hyannis and taught music at the Hyannis Normal School and later moved to Boston to continue studying music at the New England Conservatory of Music.

While a student at the conservatory, she was an accompanist for Roland Hayes, the first black classical singer widely recognized for his work in this country.

In 1919, she married and moved to New Bedford, where she lived for 62 years. While living in New Bedford where her husband was executive director of the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Thackeray was active in the Thursday Musical and the New Bedford Chorus. She was also a substitute organist for New Bedford churches and taught private piano and voice lessons.

Mrs. Thackeray was a member of the New Bedford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an associate member of the Capt. Joshua Gray Chapter of the DAR in Yarmouth. She was also a member of the New Bedford Chapter of the Mayflower Society. She attended the Hyannis Christian Science Church and was a member of the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston.

Mrs. Thackeray enjoyed listening to classical music and researching her family history.

She is survived by a son, Robert R. Thackeray of Marion; a daughter, Shirley T. Christophers of Centerville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Earle Snow Wilson and Kenneth Eldredge Wilson Sr.

A funeral was held at the Doane, Beale and Ames Funeral Home, Hyannis. Burial followed in Swan Lake Cemetery in Dennisport.
