Beatrice Fromm
A memorial service for Beatrice Kate Barnard Fromm will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Freddy Franks officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Kate was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Hodge, La., and Passed away Saturday, June 18, in Marshall, Texas . She was a member of First Baptist Church in Minden since 1948. Kate was a retired teacher from Webster Parish School Board and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Her first husband of 53 years, S.F. Barnard and son, Harvey Barnard preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Barnard and wife, Linda of Marshall; daughter, Dr. Sue Ellen Barnard and husband, Dr. Van Lambeth of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Verna Tullos of Laurel, Miss.; grandchildren, Dionese Gerbreth and husband, Jed of Baton Rouge, Mark Barnard and wife, Mary of Shreveport, and Katie Saad and husband, Dr. Daniel Saad of Little Rock, Ark.; and great grandchildren, Matthew Hardee Barnard, Mary Kathryn Barnard and Preston Daniel Saad.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of C Wing at Marshall Manor Rehab.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials are made to First Baptist Seniors Benevolent Fund.

Betty Grim
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Benton Grim, 59, will be held at 1 p.m. today, June 27, 2005, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Pasadena, Calif., with the Rev. Kenneth Wood officiating.
Mrs. Grim, a native of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, June 22, in California, following a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Grim of Minden; and both parents Roberts and Rozetta Benton of Minden.
She is survived by three daughters and one son, Charva Grim, Amber Harris, Heather Johnson and Lonnie Grim Jr., all of California; five sisters and one brother, Marjorie Johnson , Delma Benton, Carrie Taylor , Wanda Benton and Henry James Benton, all of California; and Martha Britt of Homer.

Laura Knotts
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Stevenson Knotts, 72, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Lee G. Nunley officiating. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Knotts Passed away Saturday, June 25, after a brief illness. She was married on June 16, 1950, to Billy Ray Knotts of Ashland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Jacqulin Stevenson; husband; and sister, Mary Stevenson Choate of Natchitoches.
She is survived by four daughters, Dolly Salter and husband Gary, Peggy Crouch and husband Dave, all of Shreveport, Sharon Walton of Doyline, and Kathy Booth and husband Woody of West Monroe; four grandchildren, Angie Fish Page of Sibley, Jeremy Salter and wife Tina of Shreveport, Ashley Knotts of Doyline, Kourtney Salter of Shreveport; four great-grandchildren, Taylar and Peyton Page of Sibley, Madison and Rylie Salter of Shreveport; sisters, Sally Spell and husband Ray, Frances Foster and husband Leonard of Shreveport; brothers, Tom Stevenson and wife Mary Frances of Campti, and Hezzie Stevenson and wife Audra of Reidheimer.
The family wishes to extend appreciation to friends, family and neighbor, Betty Deweese and Janet for all the gifts of food and visits during her illness and to JoAnn Deloach, Barbara and J.J. Oneal of Northwest Hospice. And a special thanks to Dr. Mike Sewell.
Pallbearers will be John Booth, Richard Booth, Bruce Knotts, Jeremy Salter, Randy Shelley, Gary Sherrard and Donnie Page.

Barbara Madden
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Jean Madden, 52, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Kan. Burial will follow at Beagle Cemetery.
In state will begin at 1 p.m. today, June 27, with visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Madden, a resident of Beagle, Kan., Passed away Friday, June 24, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan.
She was born the second of three children to Oris Maxell and Thelma Marie (Beck) Guthrie. She attended Twin Lakes Elementary, Oak Grove Junior High and Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Fla. She was married in the late 70s to Charles McBrearety in Tampa. They became the parents of two children, and lived in Rantoul, Kan. The couple later divorced in the mid-80s.
She moved to Lane, Kan., in the late 70s. She worked for the Lee Jeans factory in Ottawa, Kan., for five years, then drove a semi-truck over the road for several years. She lived for two years in Minden, then returned to Lane and began driving for Deffenbaugh Industries. She was employed with them for seven years.
She married Ralph Adell Madden in Paola, Kan., on March 7, 2002, and they made their home in Beagle. She worked for Dot Label in Gardner, Kan., as a rewinder for two years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oris “Cotton” Guthrie; and one step-son, Ralph A. Madden Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph A. Madden of the home; son, Michael McBrearety of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter, Jennifer McBrearety of North Kansas City, Mo.; step-children, Debbie and husband Bob Odle of Basehor, Kan., Kim and husband Kevin Flora of Prairie Village, Kan.; mother, Thelma Duncan of Tampa; two sisters, Charlotte King of Tampa, Shirley Mitchell of Lane; one half-sister, Patty Boyette of Tampa; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Charles Pevy
Graveside services for Mr. Charles Brett Pevy, 40, were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Gordon Cole officiating. Services were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Pevy, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, June 22, in Texas . He was a surveyor.
He is survived by his parents, Mack and Ro Ann Pevy of Minden; grandmother, Estelle Weaver of Coleman, Texas ; sister, Tisha Martin and husband James of Minden; nephews, Ryan and Matthew of Minden; and his special friend, Vino.
Pallbearers were Ronald Anderson, Greg Garms, Floyd Brown, James Martin and Jeff Edmonson.

Kathryn S. Maxey
Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn S. Maxey, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating and the Rev. Wayne DuBose assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 23, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Maxey, a native of Dianne, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, June 21, in Shreveport. She was a retired secretary for Arkla Gas. She was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Minden in the nursery and the children’s department for more than 50 years. She continued her membership at FBC Minden for 79 and one-half years. She was the first homecoming queen at Minden High School in 1933, and was honored by being the grand marshal in the MHS Homecoming Parade in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Maxey Jr. and her parents, Sidney and Ora Samuel.
She is survived by her sons, David L. Maxey and wife Brenda of Many, John H. Maxey III and wife Regina of Keithville; sister, Betty Mott and husband Waynon of Alexandria; brother, James Samuel and wife Betty of Shreveport; five grandchildren, Amanda Maxey Ferguson and husband Shane of Baton Rouge, David L. Maxey Jr. of Minden, Kelley Cordray and husband Todd of Carrollton, Texas , Greg Austin and fiance, Kristi Means of Minden, and Elizabeth Woods and husband James of Vivian; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Taylor , Ronnie Farrar, Sam Samuel, David Maxey Jr., Dawson Samuel and Rick Chreene.
In lieu of flowers, Kathryn S. Maxey would much prefer you do something nice for someone in need, or give to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211-4196.

Fred Winget
Funeral services for Mr. Fred Winget, 65, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Mr. Adrian Delukie officiating. Burial will follow at Gilgal Cemetery in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 23, at the funeral home.
Mr. Winget, a native of Haynesville and a resident of Minden, Passed away Tuesday, June 21, at Homer Memorial Hospital. He was retired from Lucent Technologies after 30 years of service. He was born June 15, 1940.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Winget; his parents, Leland and Willie Mae Winget; seven brothers; one sister; and one niece.
He is survived by his daughters, Teri Medlin and husband Charles and Tina Hamilton; son, Tony Winget; brother, Clovis Winget; sisters, Barbara Coe and husband Earl, Francis Tucker and Christine Keene; five granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Keene, Jerry Keene, David Winget, Greg Winget, Lonnie Simpson and Craig Banta.

Alvin Bryant
Graveside services for Mr. Alvin Bryant, 73, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden with the Rev. Eddie Holliday officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, June 22, at the funeral home.
Mr. Bryant, a native and resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, June 20, in Shreveport. He was a retired supervisor for Clement Industry, and was a member of the V.F.W. in Doyline.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Bryant; sister, Sadie Mae Butler; and his brother, Joe Bryant.
He is survived by his parents, Shorty and Beulah Lee of Minden; daughter, Betsy Bolton and husband John of Minden; granddaughter, Brandi Scott of Minden; and his grandson, Eric Bolton of Minden.

Bobby Joe Tate
Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Joe “Bob” Tate, 69, will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 22, 2005, at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold with the Rev. Malcolm Self and Dr. A.W. Swart officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden.
Mr. Tate Passed away at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Willis-Knighton Bossier following a sudden illness. He was born in Seminole, Okla., on March 30, 1936. He worked in the oil-related industry for most of his life and has been a resident of Ringgold from 1977 to 2005. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict. He loved playing golf and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Bessie Tate; one son, Vic Tate; sister, Mary Lou Tate and brothers, Marvin and Ronnie Tate.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Tate of Ringgold; daughter, Sherri Willis of Indiana, Dina Smith and her husband Marty of Heflin; one sister, Evelyn McInturff; six grandchildren, Megan and Garrett Willis, Lance and Preston Wood, Hailey Smith and Melissa Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier and all of his co-workers at Chesapeake Natural Gas Company, along with other related companies, for the love and support shown during Bob’s illness.

John Kennon Jr.
A memorial service for Mr. John Theopolis Kennon Jr., 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Father Wayne Carter officiating.
Mr. Kennon Passed away in Houston, Texas .
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deola Marcantel Kennon; son, John Willis Kennon; and his parents, John Theopolis Kennon Sr. and Josephine Murphy Kennon.
He is survived by five children, Pamela Kennon Arnolt of Ft. Worth, Texas , Charles B. Freeman of Baton Rouge; twin daughters, Julia Kennon Brown and husband Dennis Newton Brown of Minden, Judy F. Kennon of Houston, Vicki Kennon Billiot and husband Jimmy of New Orleans; grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Brown of Natchitoches, Kimberly Ann Brown of Stuart, Fla., five other grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters; four nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Maguerite Lousteau
Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite Watson Lousteau, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Landry’s Funeral Home in Labadieville. Burial will follow at St. Philomena Cemetery in Labadieville.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lousteau, a resident of Napoleonville and a native of Minden, Passed away Sunday, June 19, at Williamsburg Retirement Community in Baton Rouge. She was born Feb. 26, 1915.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond J. Lousteau; her parents, Ludy and Annie Mae Watson; and her brothers, Lamar, Norman and Cleveland Watson.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray J. Lousteau M.D. and Carolyn Lousteau of New Orleans, David and Marie Lousteau of Knoxville, Tenn., and J. Keith and Gloria Lousteau of Mandeville; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Reuben Ruiz III of Prairieville; sister, Roba Bridges of Minden; 12 grandchildren, Ray Lousteau Jr., Rebecca Mannix, Claire Petty, Elizabeth Doherty, John, Wayne, Matthew, Michael and Suzanne Lousteau, Marguerite, Melanie and Melissa Ruiz; and 10 great-grandchildren.

William Woodard
A memorial and celebration service for Mr. William Alfred Woodard will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, in the Post Hall, American Legion Post #388, 5401 Highway 527, in Koran, of which “Bill” was a member. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City. The cremation process, final disposition and scattering will be at Boone Funeral Home. Upon receipt of his stone/marker from Washington , D.C., the “in memory of” marker will be placed at Social Springs Cemetery, east of his parents.
Mr. Woodard Passed away Tuesday, June 14, in the Overton Brooks Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport, just after his 70th birthday on June 12. He was born in 1935 and reared in Ringgold.
After some 20-plus years of serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, from 1953-1973, William retired as a gunnery sergeant, was a veteran of two major conflicts, Korea and Vietnam. William lived in Ringgold, spending many hours on Lake Bistineau, worked at the Army Ammunition Plant and Battery Plants in Webster/Bossier parishes.
William, like his family, was baptized and a member of Social Springs Baptist Church in Ringgold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lora and Effie Woodard; and his brother, Lora Wayne.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Ray and wife Rosemary; nieces, Tammy, Elizabeth and Jennifer; uncle, Leonard Woodard; nephew, P-nut; sister-in-law, Linda; a very special friend, Miss Barbara Chamblee; and numerous friends, cousins, step-children, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Ramone Romero, staff surgeon of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, for his kind and compassionate care and coordinated care in Houston; the numerous other physicians, staff and nurses of Overton Brooks, especially Jennifer and Aaron for their many hours of care his last three weeks in the SICU.
In lieu of flowers, per William’s request, donations may be made to the Volunteer Services Depts. of the Michael Debake VA Medical Center, Houston, Texas , and Overton Brooks VA Hospital in Shreveport.

Irene Brown
Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Rowland Brown, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter and the Rev. Bill Crider officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, June 20, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown, a native of Stamps, Ark., and a resident of Minden, Passed away Sunday, June 19, in Minden. She was a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton E. Brown; and her sister, Thelma Byars.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Brown of Minden; daughter, Kathy Gibbs and husband Bob of Goshen, Ind.; sisters, Inez Landrem of Minden, and Hazel Young of Minden; grandchildren, Jason Gibbs and Rob Gibbs of Goshen, and Kelly Lawson of San Francisco, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
