BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Zelda Payne Galloway, 41, is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Rev. Raymond Mims officiating.
Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. today at the Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.
Burial will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
Mrs. Galloway died Sunday in the LSU/ Washington St. Tammany Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, a member of senior mission and a member of the city-wide prayer band.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Gloria Dell Payne; a brother, Brian Payne; grandmothers, Mrs. Veda Payne and Mrs. Bertha H. Guy; grandmothers, Mrs. Veda Payne and Mrs. Bertha H. Guy; grandfather, Ellis Booker Guy.
Survivors include her husband, Lovell Galloway; a daughter, TraShunda Payne; a son, Jasmine Richard; a step-daughter; a stepson; a grandchild, DeAuvia Brown, Bogalusa; her father, Curtis Ray Guy, Los Angeles, CA; five sisters, Gwendolyn Lewis, Regina Payne, Bertha Payne, all of Bogalusa, Carmeletta Guy Ellis, Covington, Catasha Guy, Baton Rouge; a brother, Keith Payne, Bogalusa; mother-in-law, Mrs. Eva Bell, Sandy Hook, MS; 11 sister-in-laws; five aunts; a special aunt, Ola Brumfield, Bogalusa; four great aunts; two uncles; a special uncle, Cleophus Guy; a great uncle and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Griffin Morgan Slaughter

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Griffin Morgan Slaughter, 85, is scheduled at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, the Rev. Marlin Gipson officiating.
Visitation is today from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home, continuing after 8 a.m. tomorrow until time for the service.
Burial will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Slaughter died today in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
He was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church and a life-long resident of Washington Parish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Hinote Slaughter; his parents, Walter "Doc" Slaughter and Pearl Henley Slaughter; and a grandson, Michael Daunette Hopkins.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Steve Hopkins; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Jean Slaughter; five grandsons and three granddaughters-in-law, Chris and Tina Slaughter, Greg and Sheila Slaughter, Jeff and Jane Slaughter, Shane and Steve Hopkins Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Cole Hopkins, Kristina, Brian, Brianne, Blandon, Brett and Anna Katherine Slaughter, all of Bogalusa; and an aunt, Viola Wade, Wadesville, IN.
Hampton Lea
Obituary dated February 3, 2000
BATON ROUGE - The funeral service for Hampton Lea, 78, is being held at 10 a.m. today in Welsh Funeral Home, Baton Rouge.
Visitation was from 8:30 a.m. to time of service.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Magnolia Cemetery
in Magnolia, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to either South Side Baptist Church, 1700 Lea Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70608 or St. Jude Children's Research, One St. Jude Place Bldg, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-9984.
Mr. Lea died Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II, a retired salesman with Holsum Bread and a longtime member of South Side Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hampton Sr. and Ella Lea.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Hampton M. Lea, Baton Rouge; four daughters, Patricia Watson, Bogalusa, Norma Francis, Charlene Melk and Julie Kalluoda, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, Thomas Lea and William Lea, Baton Rouge; a brother Theodore Lea, Canada; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Magnolia Brown

BOGALUSA - Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Magnolia Brown, age 83, who died yesterday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
Myrtis Lucille Stringer

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Myrtis Lucille Stringer, age 65, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Wesley Quave will officiate, with interment following in the Fussell Cemetery
at Enon.
A resident of Bogalusa and a member of the New Life United Pentecostal Church, she died Monday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Darlene Stringer of Foxworth, Dixie V. Stringer and Mark Breland of Angie; a son and daughter-in-law, Irvin L. Stringer Jr. and Sharon of Gautier, MS; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eretta and James Galloway of Bogalusa, Ann and Cyrus Bergeron of Rio; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph Daniel Provost Jr. and Linda of Rio, Charlie and Evelyn Provost of Tylertown and Carley Provost of Bogalusa; five grandchildren, Preston Stringer of Foxworth, Brandy and Stephen Stringer of Gautier, Amber and Heather Breland of Angie; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Magdalene Davis; an infant son; her father, Clemon Felder Fortenberry, and her mother and step-father, Dixie Alma Sumrall and Joseph D. Provost Sr.
Visitation was held yesterday from 4:30 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home and continued today at 9 a.m. until time for the final service.
Thanie Corinne Bond Daspit

BOGALUSA - Thanie Corinne Bond Daspit, age 82, died yesterday at 1:40 p.m. in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
The daughter of the late Oliver L Bond and Cordelia Givens Bond, she was a Registered Nurse who did private duty for 52 years She was the oldest living graduate of the Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Nursing School, having graduated in 1931, the same year she and her late husband, Joseph Alfred Daspit, were married.
She was a member of Oushola Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pontchartrain Chapter of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and was the last surviving charter member of Hillside Garden Club.
She is survived by a son, Michael Daspit; a sister, Mrs. W. M. McDaniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow at 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel The Rev Keith Manuel will officiate Entombment will follow in the Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery, Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elliott Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, and members of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century.
Active pallbearers will be nephews, Vernon Carr, Oliver McDaniel, Stanley McDaniel, Kendal McDaniel, Keith McDaniel and John Carr.
William Addison 'Add' Burris

FRANKLINTON - William Addison "Add" Burris, age 80, a resident of Franklinton, died at 9:15 a.m. yesterday in St Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington He was a retired dairyman, and a U N Navy veteran of World War II who was awarded the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Bickham Burris of Franklinton; four children, Ann Williams Warner of Franklinton, William Addison Burris II of McComb, Robert Benton Burris of Ponchatoula and Michael Bickham Burris of Franklinton; nine grandchildren, John Benton Warner, William Addison Burris III, Nathan Grant Burris, Anita Kathryn Burris, Anna Marie Burris, Sara Mickel Burris, Robert Benton Burris, Jr., Allison Mychal Burris and Beth Ann Burris; two great-grandchildren, Brent Austin Burris and William Knox Warner; and a sister, Bobbie Burris Johnson of Franklinton.
Visitation will be at the Crain Funeral Home today from 5 to 8:30 p.m. , continuing tomorrow at 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel The Rev Dr Joe Baugh and the Rev Dr Gene Richards will officiate, with burial following in the Ellis Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Benton Burris, Jr., Nathan Grant Burris, John Benton Warner, B. B. Burris, Jr., William A Burris III and Jesse Burris Honorary pallbearers are B B Burris Sr. and Kenneth Burris.
Genevieve 'Gene' Czajkowski Starnes

BOGALUSA Genevieve "Gene" Czajkowski Starnes died at home today.
A private family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Phelps, OSB, will officiate at the funeral service, followed by entombment in Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery. Preceding the service, visitation will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m., with a rosary at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Starnes, a retired English teacher, is survived by her husband, Dr. C.R. Starnes of Bogalusa; her children, Sharon Starnes Sbar of Collingswood, NJ, Judy Starnes Schwenk of Pineville, and Dr. Robert Starnes of Bogalusa; her sister, Virginia Mijal of Westland, MI; her brother, Irvin Czajkowski of Bellville, MI; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with the wishes of Mrs. Starnes, the family requests memorial donations be made to Annunciation Catholic School in lieu of flowers.
Robert 'Bubba' Hart

FRANKLINTON Funeral arrangements have been completed for Robert "Bubba" Hart, age 64, who died Monday at his residence, 27206 Goss Hart Road, Franklinton. Visitation will be tomorrow from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Franklinton, with a family hour from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Causey officiating. interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
He is survived by four daughters, Shirley Magee of Grand Prairie. TX, Norma J. Hart of New Orleans, Deborah Bell and LaQuisha Hart of Atlanta; a sister, Ethel Manning of Franklinton and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. James.

Therzine Borne Champagne
THOMAS - The funeral service for Therzine Borne Champagne, 77, a resident of the Thomas community, is scheduled for 4 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home, the Rev. Bobby Spears and the Rev. Jerry Cox officiating.
Visitation is from 6-10 p.m. today at the funeral home, continuing after 8 a.m. tomorrow until time for the funeral service.
Burial will follow in the Thomas cemetery at Thomas.
Mrs. Champagne died yesterday at 10 p.m. in the Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of the Brockdale United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Champagne Sr.
Survivors include a son, Freddie Champagne, Pine; a daughter, Mona Lisa Roach, Golden Meadow; two brothers, Johnson Borne, Thomas and Dempsey Borne, Golden Meadow; and a sister, Mary Billiot, Thomas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Louie Williamson
VICKSBURG, MS - The funeral service for Louie Williamson, 79, is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at First Baptist Church , Vicksburg, MS.
Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park in Vicksburg.
Mr. Williamson died Tuesday at his residence in Vicksburg.
A native of Angie, he has been a resident of Vicksburg since 1946. For a number of years he worked as a welder for the U.S. Government. He retired from East Fabricators Inc. of Vicksburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, where he served as a deacon.
Helen "Dissie" Magee Lucas
BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Helen "Dissie" Magee Lucas, 74, a resident of 1103 College Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Paul A.M.E. Church, the Rev. Louis Brown Jr. officiating.
Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. tomorrow at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home. A special family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. tomorrow.
Burial will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery. Mrs. Lucas died Monday.
She was employed by the Bogalusa City Schools as a cafeteria manager for many, many years at Columbia Street Elementary School and retired in that position.
She was a member of the St. Paul AME Church where she served as a member of the choir, President of Stewards Board No. 1, Missionaries; East Gate Chapter No. 5 Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation; Esther Court No. 9 , Heroines of Jericho; Martha Court No. 2, Order of Cyrene; and a great humanitarian to all, with a special love for children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Cryer and Lela Thomas Evan; a sister, Thelma Wiley; brother, W.T. Evans and Milton Evans.
Survivors include a faithful and loving husband, Raleigh O. Lucas Sr; two daughters, Lazette (Larry) Watterson and Ruth Lucas, Bogalusa; four sons, the Rev. Larry (Mary) Lucas, Bogalusa, Wilbert Lucas, Highpoint, NC, Raleigh Odell (Diane) Lucas, Bastrop and the Rev. Charles (Gloria) Lucas, Chicago, IL; a step-daughter, Shirlane Martin; a granddaughter she reared as her own, Pamela Shere Lucas; a devoted son-in-law, Larry "Blue" Watterson Sr.; four sisters, Etta (Dr. Aaron) Thompson, Bogalusa, Catherine Darden, Gulfport, MS, Natalie (Henry) Killings, Carson, CA and Sylvia (Richard) Powell, Albion, MI; step-sisters, Thadia Mae Hunt, Varnado and Berta Rea Hilliard, Bogalusa; a godson, Richard Watterson, Houston, TX; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
