Funeral services for Vadia Taylor Marshall, 62, of Ringling, Okla., will be announced by Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. She Passed away Friday, April 4, 2003 at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Okla.
Hazel Self McInnis
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Self McInnis, 90, of Anacoco will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Leesville with the Revs. Morris Goins, Larry White and Kenneth McInnis officiating.
Burial will follow in the McInnis Cemetery
in Anacoco.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service Sunday in the funeral home.
Mrs. McInnis died Thursday, April 3, 2003, in the Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville.
She was an avid quilter, gardener and a faithful pastor's wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Chester McInnis, and one daughter, Gayle McInnis.
Survivors include one son, Garland McInnis, and wife Margie, of Lake Charles; three daughters, June Antony and husband, Royce, of Paducah, Ky., Macel Anderson, and husband Bill, of Kurthwood and Elwyn Martin, and husband Louis, of Anacoco; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made to the McInnis Cemetery.
Joy Smith
Funeral services for Ms. Joy Margaruite Smith, 87, of Rosepine will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 6, 2003, in the Hixson Funeral Home chapel in DeRidder with the Rev. Paul Massey officiating.
Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery
in Natchitoches.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until time of service today in the funeral home.
Ms. Smith died Thursday, April 3, in her residence.
She was born in Fort Jessup and lived in the Rosepine area for 58 years. She taught school for 23 years in the Vernon Parish school system and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rosepine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester M. Smith.
Survivors include one brother, James Walter Williams of Conroe, Texas .
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bibles or Baptist Children's Home.
David Coburn
Funeral services for Mr. David L. Coburn, 55, of Leesville will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2003, in the Hixson Funeral Home chapel in Leesville with the Revs. M.C. Green and Frank Hornsby officiating.
Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery
in Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 6-10 p.m. today, July 6, and from 8 a.m. until time of service Monday in the funeral home.
Mr. Coburn died Thursday, July 3, in his residence in Leesville.
He was a native of Jefferson ville, Ky., and a longtime resident of the Leesville-Vernon Parish area. He was employed for 14 years with the DOL at Fort Polk and prior to his employment at Fort Polk, he was a local building contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War, during which he received numerous awards and citations, which included the Purple Heart. During his tour of duty, he served with President Lyndon Johnson 's Honor Guard detail while stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, May Ann Coburn of Leesville; two sons, Dean Coburn of Alexandria and David Coburn of Houston, Texas ; his mother, Ruby Coburn of Hillsboro, Ohio; two brothers, Darrell Coburn of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Lawrence Coburn of Middletown, Ohio, and two grandchildren.
L.C. Cobb
Funeral services for Mr. L.C. Cobb, 74, of Leesville will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 13, 2003, in the Hixson Funeral Home chapel in Leesville with the Revs. Irby Perkins and Buddy Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery
in Pickering.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until time of service today in the funeral home.
Mr. Cobb died Thursday, July 10, in the Dubois Hospital in Alexandria.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Leesville-Vernon Parish area and a retired roofer.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Allen Cobb.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Cobb of Leesville; one son, Billy Wayne Cobb of Leesville; one daughter, Debra Sue Smith of Leesville; his mother, Mrs. Ollie Cobb of Leesville; one brother, D.C. Cobb of New Orleans; two sisters, Rodie Brister and Dovie Rogers, both of Leesville; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ethel Blunt
Funeral arrangements for Ms. Ethel Blunt, 59, of Leesville will be announced by the Thomas Mortuary of Leesville.
Ms. Blunt died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in her residence.
Marcus Butler
Funeral services for Mr. Marcus S. Butler, 70, of Anchorage, Alaska, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in the Evergreen Funeral Home chapel in Anchorage, Alaska, with the Revs. Steve Rawl and Dale Umphrey officiating.
His body will be cremated and sent to the Fayetteville National Cemetery
in Fayetteville, Ark., to be buried at a later date.
Mr. Butler died Monday, Aug. 11, in Anchorage.
He retired as a sergeant major with the U.S. Marine Corps, having served 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served several tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10252, where he was a past president of the VFW of Alaska and commander district #16 national council and served on several state and national committees. He had also worked as food service supervisor at Elmendorf Air Force Base Hospital until his retirement in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Carver Butler of Anchorage, Alaska; one son, Gary Bordeaux of Shreveport; five step-children, Don Corley, Tamara Corley Kreneck, both of Leesville, David Corley of Fayetteville, Ark., Deborah, Barbara and Caneesa Corley, and eight grandchildren.
