Kidd
Karla Kidd
Karla Lee Kidd departed this life on March 20, 2003, leaving behind to cherish her memory, her son, Kaelan, her mother, Ruth Ann, her sister, Holly, her brother, Jonathan, and extended family and friends. Karla was the daughter of C.A. and Ruth Ann Kidd, the granddaughter of Babe and Annie Kidd of Gibsland and Clyde and Lummie Butler of Liberty Hill. A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, March 23, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Michaud
Elizabeth Michaud, 85
A memorial mass for “Frankie” Elizabeth Michaud, 85, of Ruston will be held at 4 p.m. on March 29 at St. Lucy Catholic Church with Father Bob Leonhardt officiating.
Mrs. Michaud died March 18 in Ruston.
Born Sept. 27, 1917 in Merryville, she was a housewife.
Mrs. Michaud was preceded in death by her husband James A. Michaud.
She is survived by sons, Steve Michaud and wife Beverly of Huntsville, Ala., Ronnie Michaud and wife Sharon of Ruston, Rene Michaud of Orlando, Fla. and Chris Michaud and wife Fonny of Encinitas, Calif.; daughters, Carolyn Burnette and husband Jack of Ruston, Anita McMillan and husband Eddie of Perdido Key, Fla. and Melanie Warrne and husband Chris of Ruston; brother, Billie Watts and wife Dale of Lake Charles; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Osborne
Katherine Osborne, 63
Funeral services for Katherine Watson Osborne, 63, of Winnsboro were held March 26 at the chapel at Community Memorial Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery
near Sicily Island.
Mrs. Osborne died March 23 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
She was a homemaker and a resident of Franklin Parish.
Mrs. Osborne is survived by daughters, Kathy Ann Donaldson and husband Danny of Downsville, Patricia Arndt of Tallulah, Stephanie Boone of Winnsboro and Wendy Truman and husband Tim of Walnut Grove, Ga.; sister, Francis Sullivan of Hodge; brother, Kenneth McCoy and wife Norma of Wichita Falls, Texas ; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Kristopher Boone, Lee Donaldson, Danny Donaldson Jr., Kenneth McLeland, Terry McLeland and Steve Whitton.
Services were under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home.
Osborne
Leslie Osborne Jr., 79
Funeral services for Leslie Osborne Jr., 79, of Jonesboro were held March 22 at the St. Rest Baptist Church in Quitman. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Osborne died March 12. He was a construction worker.
Services were under the direction of King Funeral Home of Ruston.
Pate
Hilman Pate, 74
Funeral services for Hilman Ferrell Pate, 74, of Quitman were held March 21 at the Beech Spring Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Jinks and Danny Chapman officiating. Burial followed in the Beech Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Pate died March 19 at Pinehill Nursing Home.
Born April 18, 1928 in Quitman, he was a retired machine tender and a member of the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Pate of Quitman; son, Michael Pate and wife Felicia of Alexandria; sister, Aline Pate of Quitman; and grandson, Christopher Pate of Alexandria.
Pallbearers were Bruce Whitman, Bobby Brinson, Bobby Vail, J.W. Duck, Craig Stephens and Donnie Horton.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Peel
James Peel, 86
Graveside services for James C. Peel, 86, of Jonesboro were held March 22 at the Ebenezer Cemetery
with the Rev. Freddie Shows officiating.
Mr. Peel died March 19 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born July 25, 1916 in Weston, he was a retired paper finisher and a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by daughters, Claudine Pardue and husband D.R. of Jonesboro, Jackie Searcy of Jonesboro and Darenda Knapp of Jonesboro; sons, Wayne Peel and wife Audie of Jonesboro and Marlon Peel and wife Marion of Chatham; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Terry Evans, Jody Owens, Michael Pardue, Darrell Pardue, David Searcy and Josh Searcy.
Funeral services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Denton
Eloise Denton, 78
Funeral services for Eloise Kirkham Denton, 78, of Quitman were held March 15, 2003 with the Revs. Ed Fenton and Dalton Shovan officiating. Burial was in the Quitman Cemetery
under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Mrs. Denton was a member of the Bear Creek Congregational Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Kree D. Denton, her grandson, James Howard Foster and her brother, Earl Kirkham.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony Denton and wife Beth of Quitman and the Rev. Marvin Denton and wife Shirley of Quitman; two daughters, Winifred Brown and husband David Earl of Quitman and Mary Frances Foster and husband Tommy of Sarepta; two brothers, Dwain Kirkham and wife Lorane of Quitman and Winston Kirkham of Jonesboro; one sister, Ellen Kirkham Marsh and husband Charles of Quitman; six grandsons, Anthony Samuel Denton, Robert Michael Denton, Paul Wesley Denton, Philip David Brown, Tommy Clint Foster and Jonathan Kree Foster; four granddaughters, Dana Annette Kelly, Amanda Belle Smith, Kristin Michelle Denton and Charlotte Denise Davis; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sammy Denton, Clint Foster, Kree Foster, Mike Denton, Paul Denton, Brad Spillman, Chuck Marsh and Phillip Brown.
McElduff
Gail McElduff, 88
Funeral services for Gail McElduff, 88, of Choudrant were held March 15 at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston with the Rev. Jerry W. Chapman officiating. Burial followed in the Cartwright Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. McElduff died March 13 in West Monroe following a brief illness.
Mr. McElduff was a member of the Cartwright Baptist Church. He was a school bus driver for Jackson Parish for more than 50 years. He had worked several years at the Jackson Parish Processing Plant at Chatham High School. Mr. McElduff was a long-time member of the Democratic Executive Committee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle Lee McElduff and son, Dayton McElduff.
He is survived by daughters, Wanda McElduff of Choudrant, LaDean Chapman and husband Jerry of Calhoun and Elise Gray and husband Jack of Choudrant; sister, Alice B. Savage of Monroe; three grandchildren, Jackie Gray and wife Diane, Suzonne Clampit and husband Jonathan and Walter McElduff and wife Cindy; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Dylan and Evan McElduff and Alexia and Seth Clampit; special friend, Mr. Leroy of Eros; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Potts
Betty Potts, 66
Funeral services for Betty Sue Potts, age 66, of Dodson were March 16 with Rev. Arthur Robinson and Rev. Brian Montgomery officiating. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Potts was a member of the Full Gospel Christian Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Potts.
Survivors include three daughters, Irma J. Vice and husband Keith of Winnfield, Judy K. Howell and husband Bert of Dodson and Terri A. Smith and husband Bud of Jonesboro; four sons, Ronnie Potts and wife Susie of Winnfield, Mike J. Potts and wife Julie Ann of Weston, Danny Potts and wife Geri of Winnfield and Thomas Potts and wife Christina of Florien; one brother, Jimmy Robinson and wife Shelia of Glen Rose, Texas ; three sisters, Clara Bedgood of Jonesboro, Bobbie Davis and husband Freddie of Jonesboro and Dollie Sue Hendrix of Boca Raton, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Lawson, Scotty Lawson, Jeremy Potts, Jason Potts, Chris Vines, Bubba Howell, Jay Welch, Lynn James, Josh Robinson, Heath Potts, Kyle Potts and Doug Jordan.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Ponder
Annie Ponder, 89
Graveside services for Annie Willis Ponder, 89, of Opelika, Ala., formerly of Jonesboro, were held March 17 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery
with the Rev. Randy Lee officiating.
Ponder, also known as “Miss Annie,” was born March 2, 1914 in Jackson Parish, where she lived until moving to Opelika to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She spent many years as a cook at Jonesboro-Hodge High School and was a retired cook from the Jackson Parish Hospital. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Don Ponder and wife Brenda of Opelika, James “Jim” Ponder of Shreveport and Charles Ponder and wife C.C. of Gautier, Miss.; sister, Jean Vocker and husband Don of West Monroe; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Watson
Dewey Watson, 66
Funeral services for Dewey Nasif Watson Sr., 66, of Jonesboro were held March 14 at the Calvary Tabernacle UPC with the Revs. Wayne Watson, Richard Gray and C.M. Grayson officiating. Burial followed in the Old Bethel Cemetery
in Jonesboro.
Mr. Watson died March 12 in Jonesboro.
Born July 7, 1936 in Jonesville, he was a self-employed machinist and welder. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melanie Michelle Watson.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Reed Watson of Jonesboro; sons, Dale Watson of Jonesboro, Dewey Watson Jr. and wife Doris of Vidalia, Jack Watson of Jonesboro and Jeff Watson of San Antonia, Texas ; daughter, Sandra Roberts and husband David of Waynesville, Mo.; sisters, Thelma Poole of Monterey and Mildred Smith of Clayton; brothers, Wade Watson of Sulphur, Bill Watson of Sicily Island and Roy Watson of Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Bo Watson, Jeremy Roberts, Otis Dale Franks, Sidney Franks, Tommy Cotton and Kenneth Passman.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
