Shackelford
Judy Shackelford, 56
Funeral services for Judy Kaye Shackelford, 56, of Jonesboro were held Aug. 9 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Fry officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Shackelford died Aug. 7 at Glenwood Medical Center.
Born Oct. 17, 1946 in Hodge, she was a registered nurse.
She is survived by her daughters, Angie Hays and husband Brian of Quinlan, Texas and Jennifer Goins and husband Kenny of Calvin; son, Ricky Shackelford and wife Connie of Quitman; sisters, Brenda Bond of Weston and Becky Surber and husband Roby of Weston; and four grandchildren, Christopher Shackelford, Nicholas Goins, Dustin Goins and Joshua Goins.
Pallbearers were Rayford Roden, Freddie Brown, Billy Robinson, Robert Surber, Brent Bond and Corey Bond.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Smith
Edmond Smith, 69
Funeral services for Edmond W. “E.W.” Smith, 69, of Chatham were held Aug. 14 at the Chatham United Methodist Church with the Revs. Emily Winbery and Homer Bailes officiating. Burial followed in the Chatham Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Aug. 11 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born Nov. 22, 1933 in Oak Grove, he was a United States Army Veteran and worked for the Monroe Police Department from 1957 until his retirement as Assistant Chief of the Monroe Police Department in 1984. He was a longtime member of the Chatham Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Smith of Chatham; daughters, Michelle Underwood and husband David of Chatham and Lisa Ingram of Monroe; sons, Hank Smith and wife Karen of West Monroe, Jeffrey S. Smith of Brandon, Miss. and Jimmy Smith and wife Donna of West Monroe; brothers, James Swanson Smith and wife Shirley of Oak Grove and Joe A. Smith and wife Betty of St. Francisville; 12 grandchildren, Benjamin Smith, Allison Smith, Brandon Smith, Lauren Smith, Steven Smith, Adam Smith, Morgan Smith, Elizabeth Underwood, Hillary Underwood, Philip Ingram, Steven Ingram and Matthew Ingram.
Honorary pallbearers were the men of the Chatham United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers were Kevin Smith, Alton Spillers, Marvin Davis, Clifford Cartwright, David Underwood and Dwight Cooper.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
Swanner
Lelon Swanner II, 58
Funeral services for Lelon Curtis Swanner II, 58, of Ferriday were held Aug. 20 at the Zions Rest Cemetery
with Elder Jessie Stripland officiating.
Mr. Swanner died Aug. 16 at Riverland Medical Center.Born Dec. 24, 1944 in Jonesboro, he was a retail grocer.
Mr. Swanner was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lelon Curtis Swanner and Trudie Peel; one son, Mack Watson; one grandson, Michael Curtis Doyle; and step-mother, Alta Swanner.
He is survived by daughters, Robbin Swanner VanHuss and husband Frederick of Arlington, Texas , Anita Swanner Doyle and husband Michael of Arlington and Lori Swanner Guillory and husband Brad of Vidalia; sons, Stacy Lynn Swanner of Easley, S.C. and Lelon Curtis Swanner III and wife Melissa of Jonesboro; one sister, Lee Ann Hodnett of Wagoner, Okla.; one brother, Donald Swanner of Minden; and seven grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Brown
Travis Brown, 67
Funeral services for Travis Dale Brown Sr., 67, of Quitman were held Aug. 8 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Genny Hoyt and Gene Cumpton officiating. Burial followed in the Bear Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Brown died Aug. 6 at Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Oct. 2, 1935 in Quitman, he was a retired radio dispatcher for the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Thorn Brown of Quitman; daughter, Anna Dawn Brown of Quitman; son, Travis Dale Brown Jr. and wife Linda of Quitman; mother, Gladys Brown of Quitman; brothers, Gerald Wayland Brown and wife Mary of West Monroe, Donnie Delane Brown and wife Sue of Atlanta, Ga. and Wade Gayle Brown and wife Kathy of Dallas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Van Beasley, Joe Holsomback, Max Robinson, The Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Department and the men of the Quitman United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers were Keith Cumpton, Paul Trosclair, Travis Ables, Nelson Spillers, Dean Faulk and Stephen Watts.

Harvey
Tracy Harvey, 33
Funeral services for Tracy Harvey, 33, of Choudrant were held Aug. 5 at the St. Denis Chapel in Natchitoches with the Rev. Danny Pitts officiating. Burial followed in the St. Maurice Cemetery
in St. Maurice.
Ms. Harvey died Aug. 3 at her residence in Choudrant.
She was a native of Jonesboro and was employed by Henderson Concrete in West Monroe.
She is survived by her fiance, Wayne Brown of Choudrant; daughters, Ashley Boles of Jonesboro and Mikaela Culpepper of Jonesboro; son, Dustin Tyler Harvey of Choudrant; mother, Sally Austin Harvey of Ruston; paternal grandmother, Doyle Harvey of Jonesboro; sisters, Carla Boles of Jonesboro and Lori Harvey of Jonesboro; brothers, Jeffrey Harvey of Jonesboro, James Harvey of Natchitoches and Jerry Harvey of Eureka, Calif.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Boles, Paul “Bubba” Boles, Kenny Harvey, Chris Turner, Bobby Lee Brown and Paul Boles.
Services were under the direction of the St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.
Huddleston
Doris Huddleston, 60
Funeral services Doris Council Huddleston, 60, of Quitman were held Aug. 9 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.D. Moss officiating. Burial followed in the Briarwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Huddleston died Aug. 6 at LSU Medical Center.
Born March 14, 1943 in Jonesboro, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Huddleston of Quitman; sons, Larry David Huddleston Jr. and wife Heather of Eldon, Mo., Dale Huddleston of Quitman, Duane Huddleston and wife Wanda of Bristol, Tenn. And Danny Huddleston and wife Missy of Quitman; sisters, Dorothy Davis of Shreveport, Faye Blakeney of Ulmer, S.C., Norma Waldrip of High Point, N.C.; brothers, Wesley Council of Arcadia, Buddy Council of Saline, Oscar Ray Council of Jonesboro and Glen Council of Hebron, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Craig Watson, John Alexander, Mike Lampkin, Trey Blalock, Roger Williams and Terry Garner.

Sisemore
Homer Sisemore, 83
Homer Paul Sisemore was born February 12, 1920 in Mt. Dora FL and went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2003. Services were held at the Clay United Methodist Church on Aug. 9, 2003 with the Revs. Jimmy Pyles and Genny Hoyt officiating. Burial followed in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Homer served with distinction in the 82nd Airborne division in WWII and received the Purple Heart award. He returned to Clay, LA where he met and married his devoted wife, Sarah J. Beatty. Homer worked for Louisiana Tech University until his retirement.
Homer was a member of the Ruston Masonic Lodge No. 106, F and AM. He was a Master Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, and a member of the Barak Shrine Temple, Monroe, LA.Homer is survived by his wife, Sarah J. Sisemore of Clay, LA.; son and daughter-in-law, Lester K. Sisemore and Joan Sisemore of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Linda G. Lynde and Gerald D. Lynde of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Karl D. Sisemore and Renee Sisemore of Clay, LA; sisters, Nellie Massey of Clay, LA; Myrtis Peel of Quitman, LA; and brother, Wade Sisemore of Calhoun, LA.Loving grandchildren are Melissa Morrison, Chris Sisemore, Lance Sisemore, Kim Grissom, Michael Lynde, Leslie Saucier, Emily Webb, Alicia Norman, Devlin Sisemore and Keon Sisemore.
Devoted great-grandchildren are Austin Grissom, Michelle Morrison, Caden Morrison, Marissa Sisemore, Logan Webb, Conner Webb, Kara Saucier and Ryan Saucier, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Samuel Lamkin, Dwight Lamkin, Cliff Chiles, Lance Sisemore, Wallace Sisemore, Chris Sisemore, Michael Lynde and Michael Morrison.
Honorary pallbearers were John Freeman, Mike Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, John Massey, David Massey, Douglas Massey and Luther Hammons.

Huddleston
Melvin Huddleston, 59
Funeral services for Melvin L. Huddleston, 59, of Winnfield were held Aug. 5 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with the Revs. Dr. Tom Logan and Jesse Henderson officiating. Burial followed in the Yankee Springs Cemetery
in Goldonna.
Mr. Huddleston died Aug. 3 near Vicksburg, Miss.
He was a member of the Wildlife Turkey Federation, the NRA and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He graduated from Weston High School and was an electrical lineman retired from the City of Winnfield.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Logan Huddleston of Winnfield; son, David Huddleston and wife Marcie of Winnfield; daughter, Sheila Huddleston of Jonesboro; and sister, Erelene Breland of Port Charolette, Fla.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Kelly
Joseph Kelly, 68
Funeral services for Joseph Thomas Kelly, 68, of Jonesboro were held Aug. 4 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Joey Bignar and Charles Lutrick officiating. Burial followed in the Dean Cemetery
near Marion.
Mr. Kelly died July 31 at the V.A. Medical Center.
Born Jan. 2, 1935 in Marion, he was a director of insurance and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Kelly served in the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula Mae Day and James Thomas Kelly; one daughter, Debra Morris; and one brother, Tommy Gene Kelly.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kelly of Jonesboro; daughters, Brenda Lowe and husband Jimmy of Jonesboro and Becky Hensley and husband Rod of Ingram; sons, Stewart W. Kelly and wife Marcey of Marion, James H. Kelly and wife Peggy of Minden, Jeffrey T. Kelly and wife Patricia of Marion, Gregory A. Kelly of Brooksville, Fla., Martin G. Kelly and wife Holly of Marion, Leslie “JoJo” B. Kelly of Groveport, Ohio, Richard Morris of Jonesboro and Jeffrey Brooks and wife Lisa of Goldonna; brothers, Edward Kelly of Marion and Paul Kelly of Springhill, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jason Kelly, Brandon Kelly, Steven Smith, Daniel Barnes, Derrick Morris and Eric Davidson.

Carroll Price, 22
Funeral services for Carroll Matthew Price, 22, of Saline were held Aug. 1 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Rodney Vinzant, Hilda Antee and Jeff Stroud officiating. Burial followed in the Carolina Cemetery
in Saline.
Mr. Price died July 28.Born June 11, 1981in Shreveport, he was an oil field hand.
He is survived by his wife, Johnette Traylor Price of Saline; daughter, Morgan Elizabeth Traylor of Saline; son, Zachory Charles Price of Saline; parents, Barbara and Odell Price of Saline and Debra Clinton and Steven Bolen of Miami, Fla.; grandmothers, Lois Mazie of Saline, Carolyn Weeks and Elbry Clinton of Miami, and Kathleen Bolen of Miami; great-grandmother, Mildred Holt of Florida; four sisters, Regina Gonzalez of Miami, Ruth Ann Way of South Carolina, Melissa Smith of South Carolina and Terisa Bowman of Sicily Island; brothers, Terry Price of Lake Charles, Thomas Lee Price of Minnesota, Tony Price of Shreveport, Todd Price of Coushatta, Billy Price of Coushatta, Dale Price of Sicily Island, Bobby Walker of Jackson , Miss., Billy Walker of Saline, Clint Price of Sicily Island and Shan Price of Sicily Island; and mother- and father-in-law, John “Bo” and Ruth Pendergrass of Saline.
