Thelma S. Verdun, 88, a native of Franklin and resident of Patterson, died Sunday at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Her remains will be cremated.
She is survived by four sons, Eugene Verdun of Houston, Jackie Verdun of Verdunville and Bruce Verdun and Billy Verdun, both of Patterson; one daughter, Ella Verdun Turner of Bayou Vista; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeanne C. Derouen, a native of Iberia Parish and resident of New Iberia, died Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. A rosary service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and visitation will resume Saturday at 8 a.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.
David Funeral Home in New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Coleman, 77, a native and resident of Franklin, died Sunday at 2:21 a.m. at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Triumph Baptist Church in Franklin.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Hannah Triggs of Patterson; one brother, Ernest Eugene Jr. of Houston; three sisters, Lillie Mae Hardwick, Mollie Delone and Georgia Peterson, all of Franklin; and two grandchildren.

Richard Howe Ragin, 87, a native of Allenhurst, Fla., and resident of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died Friday at the home of a close friend in Oak Hill, Fla.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving during World War II. He lived for 30 years in the Morgan City area, working as the captain of an offshore crew boat for Mobil Oil Co. and as a commercial shrimper. He was a member of American Legion Post 359 in Port St. John, Fla., and of Masonic Lodge 205 in Morgan City.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Ragin of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; one son, Richard Howe Ragin Jr. of Youngsville; daughters, Elizabeth Compton of Morgan City, Starr Whiting of Port St. John, Fla., and Donna Gardner and Patty Bell, both of Titusville, Fla.; stepsons, Don Davis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Dean Davis of Oak Hill, Fla.; stepdaughters, Donna Davis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Diana White of Oak Hill, Fla.; a brother, Dewey “Sam” Ragin of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Susie Harmond of Titusville, Fla., and Abbie Driskill of Orlando, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a true and great friend, Dale Davis of Oak Hill, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Settle-Wilder Chapel in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Oak Hill, Fla. Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Settle-Wilder Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Mary Simoneaux Oubre, 85, a native of Plaquemine and resident of Morgan City, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. A Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
She is survived by two sisters, Volena Domingue of Lafayette and Rita Lawrence of Livingston; four sons, Woodrow Paul Oubre Jr., Herbert Joseph Oubre, Michael David Oubre and Ray Anthony Oubre, all of Morgan City; and one daughter, Barbara Ann Lanlois of Plaquemine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow Paul Oubre Sr.; one daughter, Alaida Oubre; and six brothers, Sidney Simoneaux, Walter Simoneaux, Ernest Simoneaux, Arthur Simoneaux, George Simoneaux and Clement Simoneaux.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of the arrangements.

Howard William Blanco, 75, a native of Calumet and resident of Ricohoc, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at 9:35 p.m. at his residence.
The family requests that memorial visiting hours be observed Saturday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church in Patterson.
The memorial service will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church in Patterson, with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Internment will take place on another day.
Blanco is survived by his wife, Janet Alpha Blanco of Ricohoc; one son, Dwayne “Buzz” Blanco and his wife, Maria, of Carencro; three daughters, Julie Anna Blanco Sauce and her husband, Darcy, of Peteluma, Calif., Stephanie Marie Dupre and her husband, Myron, of Patterson and Monica Faye Blanchard and her husband, Gary, of Cottonport; one sister, Annie Broussard of Breaux Bridge; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Blanco was preceded in death by his father, Willie Benjamin Blanco; his mother, Frances Dupre Blanco; three brothers, Stanley Blanco, Horace Blanco and Albert Blanco; and three sisters, Eula Mae Doucet, Lucy Blanco and Enid Arcemont.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson.

Arthur “Otto” Granier, 72, a native of Amelia and resident of Harahan, died Friday at 1:40 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice Warren Granier; two sons, Terry Granier and Tracy Granier, both of Harahan; two brothers, Wallace Granier and Robert Granier, both of Morgan City; two sisters, Mildred Gryder of Picayune, Miss., and Margaret Osten of Creston, Neb.; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother and one sister.
His remains will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in Morgan City at a later date, which will be announced when it is scheduled.

Leonard James “Snookie” Albert, 90, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Houma, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Dulac. Burial was in the church mausoleum.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Falgout Funeral Home in Houma was in charge of the arrangements.

Bonnie Sue Parkman, 45, of Houma died Monday at her residence.
Visitation Wednesday will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. Funeral services will be at Twin City Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at the Morgan City Cemetery.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Tommy and Ginger Parkman of Bayou Vista; two brothers, Freddy Gulley of Kansas City, Mo., and Denny Parkman of Waverly, Iowa; two sisters, Nancy Leonard of Houma and Kristal Hebert of Lafayette; one son, Wayne Vining of Morgan City; two grandsons, Jason Vining and Nolan Vining, both of Morgan City; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Claude Foulcard Sr., 71, a native and resident of Franklin, died Sunday at 7:13 a.m. in Alexandria.
Visitation will be Thursday at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a rosary at 12:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. with interment in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Elouise Johnson Foulcard of Franklin; three sons, Gerald Foulcard of Patterson, Gary Foulcard and Claude “Skippy” Foulcard Jr., both of Franklin; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Claudia Foulcard) Bertrand of Franklin and Mrs. Gary (Elaine Foulcard) Jones of Alexandria; six brothers, Carl Foulcard, Albert Foulcard, Joe Foulcard, Don Foulcard, Ted Foulcard and Charles Foulcard, all of Franklin; one sister, Aline Lagerman of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Whitney Welch Jr., 65, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Monday at 9 a.m. at New Iberia Heritage South.
Visitation will be at Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will be at Jones Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ezekiel Simmons III officiating.
Burial rites also will be at Jones Funeral Home.
Survivors include a son, Shawn Welch of Patterson; two daughters, Tammy Welch and Nova Welch, both of Patterson; two grandchildren; an aunt, an uncle, the Jones Funeral Home staff, and many cousins and friends.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Teddy White , 73, of Killeen, Texas , and a former employee of an oil and gas rental business in Amelia for more than 30 years, died Tuesday in a Killeen, Texas , hospital.
He was a former parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Gethsemane Prayer Chapel in Copperas Cove, Texas .
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Gethsemane Prayer Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, Texas .
He was survived by a son, Ted White of South Carolina; two stepsons, Phillip Middleton Jr. and Carl Middleton, both of Morgan City; four daughters, Leslie M. Ganaway of Killeen, Texas , and Annette White , Cindy White and Shirley White , all of Charleston, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Gail Harris of Beaumont, Texas ; a brother, Harold White of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; three sisters, Catherine Capers, Rosabelle Mack and Margerite Butler, all of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother and a sister.
Chisolm’s Family Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, Texas , is in charge of arrangements.
