She was 90, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Brusly St. Martin. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 2121 N. Sherwood Forest Drive, at 10 a.m. Saturday, celebrated by the Rev. Maynard E. Hurst. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Hubert L. Landry, Baton Rouge, Charles R. and Margaret Landry, Walker, and Edgar J. and Susan Landry, Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, Liz R. Berg, Kathy Bently, Donna Bodin, Mary Stewart, Janelle Guidry, Tammy Joseph, Lisa Landry, Jamie Landry and Bert Landry; and seven great-grandchildren, Matt Landry, Ashley and Julie Bodin, Kyle and Kaci Guidry and Terry and Chris Berg. Preceded in death by her husband, Luke Henry Landry; and a daughter, Marie "Bootsie" Rousseau. She was a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

LODGE, GARY RAY "WIZARD"
An employee of the town of St. Gabriel and a native and resident of Sunshine, he died Wednesday, April 18, 2001. He was 38. Religious services at First Mount Carmel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Bishop Eugene Harris. interment in church cemetery. Survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Lodge; parents, Frank and Lucille Lodge, Sunshine; a daughter, Ashley Lodge, Baton Rouge; two sons, Gary and Carlos Lodge, both of Sunshine; a stepson, Calvin Collier, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Beverly Lodge, Sunshine, and Sandra Davis, Baton Rouge; five brothers, Frank Lodge Jr., Ronald Grace and wife Terry, St. Gabriel, Michael Johnson , Darrell Lodge and wife Jacqueline, and Aaron Lodge Jr. and wife Jessica, all of Sunshine; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

MATTSON, VIRTUE NICHOLS
Went to be with the Lord at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and retired nurse’s aide at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 86, a resident of Baker and a native of Sargeant’s Bluff, Iowa. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, Baker, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Potts. Graveside services at Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, Neb., under the direction of Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, (402-721-4440). Survived by her husband of 52 years, Raymond L. Mattson, Baker; six sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Judy Benham, Golden, Colo., Daryl and Beverly Benham, Fremont, Paul and Wanda Mattson, Baker, Daniel and Elizabeth Mattson and Ted and Margaret Mattson, all of Zachary, and Martin and Barbara Mattson, Baker; a sister, Ann Giffin, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

MCKNIGHT, LEROY
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died Friday, April 13, 2001. He was 45. Visiting at New Southside Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Hardin. interment in Sweet Olive Cemetery. Survived by his mother, Delores McKnight, Baton Rouge; a sister, Dianne Holland, Los Angeles; and two brothers, Lawrence H. McKnight, Los Angeles, and Darryl McKnight, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his father, Lawrence H. McKnight; and grandmother, Irene Robinson.

MEDINE, JR. ANTHONY
Died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001. Arrangements pending at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville.

MORRIS, SR. CLIFTON TATE
A retired Baton Rouge pediatrician who practiced for 61 years, he died Thursday afternoon, April 19, 2001, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. Visiting at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., from 8:30 a.m. Monday until funeral Mass at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Frank Uter, the Rev. Daniel Walsh and the Rev. Kenneth Smith. interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Sybil Ory Uter Morris; three children, Mary Morris Carlock Kidd, Dr. Clifton Tate Morris Jr. and Dr. William Gourrier Morris; five stepchildren, Candace Uter DeRussy, Nancy Uter Giordano-Echegoyen, Susan Uter Daly Shaughnessy, Ellen Driscoll Uter and Lawrence Aloysius Uter Jr.; 10 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Gourrier Selser Morris; father and mother, Dr. and Mrs. Harrison G. Morris; a brother, Harrison G. Morris Jr.; a sister, Neva Morris Iles; and a grandson, Daniel Carlock Jr. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dr. James Morris, Dr. Eric Morris, Clifton Tate Morris III, David Carlock, Adam Daly and Andre DeRussy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

NELSON, HAZEL PARRIS
A homemaker and retired formal joint proprietor of Booty’s Southner for 22 years, she died at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Houma. She was 73, a resident of Houma and a native of Spartanburg, S.C. Visiting at Chauvin Funeral Home chapel, 5899 La. 311, Houma, from 10 a.m. until religious services at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Survived by a son, Roy Boudreaux Jr., Baton Rouge; a sister, Agnes P. Curry, Spartanburg; and two grandchildren, Will and Brown Boudreaux. Preceded in death by her second husband, William H. Nelson; first husband, Roy Boudreaux Sr.; parents, J.P. and Mary Ann Mason Parris; three brothers, Claude, Wallace and Boyd Parris; and a sister, Annie Lou Parris.

PETERMAN, ROMA LOCKE
A resident of Hammond, she died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was 88 and a native of Taylor County, Ga. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 1 p.m. until religious services at 4 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Casey Tingle. interment in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and John R. Breezee, Hammond, Nadine and Bobby "Bull" Lambert, Amite, and Frances and Robert Smart, Roseland; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Mildred Peterman, Butler, Ga., Charles and Shirley Peterman, Zachary, and Ronnie and Vivian Peterman, Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and eight sisters-in-law. Preceded in death by her husband, L.E. Peterman Jr.; a son, Clifford Peterman; two granddaughters, Brenda Hawkins and Sandra Kay Smart; a great-grandson, Adam Lawrence Lambert; a sister, Pauline Locke; a brother, Eugene Locke; and her parents, Cliff and Susie Locke.

PHILLIPS, ELOISE
A resident of Kentwood, she died at 11:47 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite. She was 72 and a native of Pike County, Miss. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Otis Hope. interment in Tangipahoa Cemetery, Tangipahoa. Survived by a daughter, Debbie Delitha Phillips, Kentwood; a son, Pierce Madison Phillips, Georgia; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Blades, Kentwood, and Marguerite Bethany, Baton Rouge; and three brothers, T.C., Whyman and John Slaven, all of Kentwood. Preceded in death by her husband, William Pierce Phillips; two sons, Ronnie Ray and Jimmy Dale Pierce; and a brother, Junior Slaven.

SANFORD, OLLIE BELL DANIEL
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at her home. She was 80 and a native of Clinton. Visiting at Green’s Chapel AME Church from 4 p.m. Sunday until religious services at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. C.P. Coleman. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Monday. interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by a brother, Robert Daniel Sr.; a nephew, Robert Daniel Jr.; a stepdaughter, Dr. Juanita S. Bradford; and a stepson, Clifton Sanford. Preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Gertrude Daniel; and husband, McBurnett Sanford. She was educated in the East Feliciana Parish public school system and graduated from Carrie’s Beauty School. She was a member of the church choir and Missionary Society. SCHUETZ, THOMAS EUGENE ARTHUR
Born in Lincoln, Neb., on April 22, 1932, he was educated at Concordia Preparatory School in Milwaukee and Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis. Ordained in 1957, he served as missionary-at-large, overseeing the establishment of Trinity Lutheran Church in Baton Rouge. In 1963, he took the call to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in New Orleans, where he served until 1986. Embarking on a new career, he became a nursing home administrator, first at St. John’s Lutheran Home and subsequently at Forest Manor in Covington and Harahan Guest House until his retirement. He was called home on Wednesday, April 18, 2001, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Preceded in death by his parents, Theodore W.E. Schuetz and Alma Parsch Schuetz. He is survived by a daughter, Katherine M. Schuetz; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen D.M. Schuetz and Robin Holloway Schuetz, and their children, Michael and Hannah Schuetz; his first wife, Barbara Gerland Schuetz; and his second wife, Sandra Crosby Schuetz, and her family. Visitation at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, from 1 p.m. until funeral services at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2001, on his 69th birthday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Leukemia Society or to Trinity Lutheran Church are preferred.

VICKNAIR, JOHN ELMORE "BIG JOHN"
A civil superintendent with Barriere Construction Co. and a resident of Gonzales, he died at 5:03 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, in Gonzales. He was 63 and a native of Springfield. Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales. Visiting at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Eugene Gullet. interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. Survived by his fiancée, Cecilia Wright, Gonzales; mother, Edith Paxton Vicknair, Baton Rouge; two daughters, Carla Vicknair Turner, Springfield, and Darla Vicknair Winkler, Brittany; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Violet LeBlanc , Gonzales, and Connie and Ray Rivette, Franklinton; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Marian Vicknair, Slidell, and Bill and Jean Vicknair, Centreville, Miss. Preceded in death by his father, Elmore Vicknair. Pallbearers will be Junior Ballard, Duane, Jeff and Tommy Vicknair, Doyle Rushing and Cecil E. Turner II. Honorary pallbearers are Darrell and Darrin Rushing. He was a member of Hominy Ridge Hunting Club.

ANDREWS, SR. WILLIAM
A retired laborer and member of Construction and General Laborers Union Local 1177, he died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Acadiana Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was 81, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Batchelor. He was a World War II veteran. Visiting at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 2800 Wyandotte St., from 5 p.m. until religious services at 7 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. David Newman. Dismissal at 11 a.m. Tuesday. interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Harry O. and Sonhui Andrews, Thomas Lee and Jerome and Jonitia Randolph; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, William Andrews Jr.; and a daughter, Annis Marrie Glover. Desselle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

BARTLE, LILLIAN HAZEL WESTROP
A homemaker and artist and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she died suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 79 and a native of Worksop, England. She was educated at Bingley College, Yorkshire, England, and became a school teacher in Leeds, Yorkshire. She attended LSU and was active in local art circles. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John; two sons, John of Austin, Texas , and Philip of Bush; and three grandchildren, Kathy, Max and Sean. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Westrop, who were of Leamington Spa, England; and a brother, Geoffrey Westrop, who was of Stratford-on-Avon, England. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 10 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by Dr. Nick Kalivoda. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Radio Bible Course, P.O. Box 25301, Baton Rouge, LA 70894.
