MITCHELL
NEW ORLEANS - Virginia Deslatte Mitchell, 88, a native of Paulina and resident of New Orleans, died Sept. 15, 2002. She was the wife of the late Charles Mitchell and mother of James and Donald Mitchell.
She was the sister of Oliver, Clifford and Joseph Deslatte.
She is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were Sept. 18 in the chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie.
WOODS
NEW ORLEANS - Grace Lipps Woods , 83, a native of Reserve and resident of New Orleans, died Sept. 13, 2002. She was the wife of the late Ulysses S. Woods Jr. and mother of Charlene Robins and Laverne Bourgeois.
She was the daughter of the late Mary Manuel and Adam Lipps and sister of Leona Washington , Ada Lipps and the late Hilda, Albert Sr. and Louis Lipps Sr.
She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Vincent de Paul No. 2 Cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
CANDIES
DES ALLEMANDS - Doris St. Amant Candies, 83, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Nov. 27, 2002. She was the wife of the late James "Jimmy" Candies Sr. and mother of James Jr. "Shorty" and Marshall Candies and the late Elnora "Nunnie" Cornwell.
She was the daughter of the late Camile and Mary Louise Trauth St. Amant and sister of Laura McHale and the late Ernestine Staiger, Theo May Matherne and Theophile, John, Eldon, Willie, Irvin and Lawrence St. Amant.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 29 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church cemetery.
DEE
EDGARD - Izel Jamal Dee, 22, a native of Edgard and resident of Atlanta for two years, died Nov. 23, 2002. He was the son of David Dee and Joycelyn Borne Thomas; stepson of James Thomas; brother of Chavon LaBranch, Becenda Lockett, Janisha Lee, Heather Edwards, Billy Wilson, Devin LaBranch, David and Joseph Dee III; and stepbrother of Lakesha Brimmer and Ebony, LeJai and Darrien Thomas.
He was the grandchild of Joseph and Mary Dee and Geraldine and the late Lawrence Borne Sr.
He was a student and office manager for The Home Depot in Atlanta.
Services were Nov. 29 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.
JENKINS
HAHNVILLE - Rebecca Jenkins, 62, a native of Luling and resident of Boutte, died Nov. 21, 2002. She was the wife of the late Warren Evans Sr. by first marriage and of Henry Jenkins by second marriage and mother of Selerya Chester and Warren Evans Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. Dave and Elnora Morris and sister of Evelyn Jefferson , Jackyn White and Bernadette Mott.
She is also survived by two grandchildren
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
LAMBERT
PAULINA - Mabel Bourgeois Lambert, 74, a native and resident of Paulina, died Nov. 26, 2002. She was the wife of the late Norman Lambert Sr. and mother of Fredna "Fran" Jarreau, Kathleen Lantz, Mary Perque, Marie Broussard and Norman Jr., Patrick, Jerry, Chris, Barry Lambert.
She was the daughter of the late Vinzule Sr. and Grace Bourgeois and sister of the Gert Waguespack, Mary Forsythe, Suzanne Brown and George, Vinzule Jr. and the late Nolan, Raymond and O'Neil Bourgeois.
She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Services were Nov. 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church cemetery.
MORALES
DESTREHAN - Lydia Fabre Morales, 82, a native of Edgard and resident of Destrehan, died Nov. 26, 2002. She was the wife of Joaquin Crespo by first marriage and the late Clifton Morales by second marriage and mother of Kathy Vicknair and Glenn Morales.
She was the daughter of the late Emile Sr. and Cecile Lanoux Fabre and sister of Vernon Fabre Sr. and the late Clara Bell, Leona Guidry and Emile and Herman Fabre.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Edgard High School and a member of American Legion Post 366 Auxiliary.
Services were Nov. 29 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
SCOTT
NEW SARPY - Gloria Williams Scott, 67, a native of Plaquemine and resident of New Sarpy, died Nov. 21, 2002. She was the wife of the late Sydney Scott Sr. and mother of Ulysses "Sharoo" Frontha, Margie Eugene, Carolyn Johnson ; Cynthia, Chandra, Sidney Jr., Roger and Frederick Scott Sr.; Paulette, Claudia, Aristile, Charles and Carl Smith; and the late Rena Marie Frontha and Wilma Joyce Smith.
She was the daughter of the late Mary Martin and Lawrence Williams Sr.; stepdaughter of Georgiana Williams; and sister of Georgia Sharper and Lawrence Jr., Harry, Tyrone and Raina Williams.
She is also survived by 40 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 29 at St. Matthew Baptist Church, New Sarpy, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
CONWAY
BATON ROUGE - Shirley Dufresne Conway, 75, a native of Montz and resident of Baton Rouge, died March 31, 2002. She was the wife of Ken Conway and mother of Sharon Shiflett, Diana Higgins, Mary Hutchinson, Cathy Felix, Norman Shiflett and John Conway.
She was the daughter of the late F.E. and Vivian Vicknair Dufresne and sister of Dorothy Keller and the late Vivian Ryan, Mary Weber and F.E. Dufresne Jr.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a retired employee of the Louisiana Department of Labor.
Services are pending with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.
GILARDI
DESTREHAN - Anthony "A.J." Gilardi, 63, a native of St. Rose and resident of Franklinton, died March 30, 2002. He was the husband of Judy "Petit" Gilardi and father of Cindy Hamilton, Lynda Bonner, Joan Adams and the late Donna Ratliff.
He was the son of the late Joe and Nancy Gilardi and brother of Vita Zeringue, Manuella LeBlanc and Joseph "Bud," Sam "Sonny," Benny "Pat" and Gasper Gilardi.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
He was the former owner and operator of A.J. Heating and Air Conditioning and a member of Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
Services were April 2 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
