He was 51 and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville. interment in Christ- ian Assembly Full Gospel Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Cinderella Young Cayette; mother, Rosemae Cayette; two sons, Kendall and Harold Keith Cayette; five sisters and their spouses, Cheryl and Arthur Barnes, Gloria and the Rev. David Griffin, Sandra and Randy Melancon, Avis and Eddie Stuard and Angel and Addison Tripp; five brothers and their spouses, Donald and Vickie Madison, Ronald and Marie Cayette, Joseph and Linda Mumphrey, Jasper and Chrystal Mumphrey and Genesis and Dawn Mumphrey; a grandchild, Destiney Cayette; five aunts, two uncles, four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Joseph Mumphrey; and a sister, Beverly Cayette.
DELATTE, VERNON J.
Born Feb. 23, 1919, in Whitehall, he died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at age 84 at St. Elizabeth Hospital with his wife and daughters at his bedside. Survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Irene R. Delatte; daughters, Char-lene Minnick of Danville, Calif., Shirlene Vanderwall of Met-airie and Angelene Gordon of Kenner; eight grandchildren, Melissa Herrin, Mikey Vanderwall, Christine, Robert and Joseph Wilkinson, Scotty Hutton and Michelle and Matthew Minnick; two great-grandchildren, Mario Bonura Jr. and Gage McEniry; four sisters, Lucille Fontenot, Whitehall, Louvella Fontenot, Metairie, Yvonne Casbon, Kenner, and Laura Alford, Miami; and a brother, Royal Delatte, Whitehall. Preceded in death by his parents, Edna Berthelot and Joseph Delatte; a brother, Emery Delatte; and his stepdaughter, Darlene Hutton. Vernon was a veteran of World War II, having served in Accra, Ghana and Cape Town, South Africa, as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a retired longshoreman and a member of the International Longshoreman's Union. A longtime resident of New Orleans and Metairie, he and his wife had retired in St. Amant. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans Jambalaya Chapter and VFW Post 3693.
FOSTER, JACK DONALD
A retired welder and member of Local 798 in Tulsa, Okla., he died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, in Gonzales. He was 74 and a native of Alva, Okla. Entombment in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. Survived by his wife, Ann Hughes Foster; two daughters, Karen and Jackie Sue; a son, Donald Foster; two sisters, Betty Goddard and Hazel Morefield; five stepchildren and seven grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. Purcell and Iva E. Parent; brothers and sisters.
JOSEPH, SHEDRICK "STUDIE"
A laborer and a resident of New Orleans, he died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in New Orleans. He was 47 and a native of Donaldsonville. Burial in Rock Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Survived by a son, Shaffer Joseph; mother and stepfather, Estoria M. Joseph and Lloyd Williams of Donaldsonville; father and stepmother, George Sr. and Jeanette Joseph of New Orleans; five brothers, the Rev. Cornell Joseph and wife Erica of Belle Rose, George Joseph Jr. and wife Lenoria of Baton Rouge, Gregory Joseph and wife Gloria and Darnell Joseph and wife Eva, all of Donaldsonville, and Lashawn Joseph of Salt Lake City; a stepsister, Sandra Coleman of Underwood, Texas ; a stepbrother, Alvin Coleman of New Orleans; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A loving mother and grandmother known for her love of cooking, Cajun music and Atlanta Braves baseball, she died at 2:23 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Plaquemine Manor Nursing Home. She was 83, a native of Breaux Bridge and resident of Plaquemine. interment in St. Bernard Cemetery

"Bubby" Dupont, Plaquemine; five grandchildren, John Dupont and wife Liesse, Baton Rouge, Shannon Dupont and wife Kelly, Baton Rouge, Melissa Dupont, Plaquemine, and Andrew LeBlanc and Shawn LeBlanc , both of Lafayette; and five great-grandchildren, Michael Dupont and Jacob Dupont, both of Prairieville, and Nathan Dupont, Nicholas Dupont and Patrick Dupont, all of Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, Elie and Vivian Guidry, Breaux Bridge; sisters-in-law, Edith Melancon, Yvonne Guidry and Lorraine LeBlanc , all of Henderson; a brother-in-law, Bienville Frederick of Cecilia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A homemaker and resident of Prairieville, she died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, in Prairieville. She was 72 and a native of Port Barre. Survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia M. and Johnny Piper, Lisa M. and Terry Cavalier, Joanne M. and Ray Wohlgemuth and Paula A. Matte; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary W. and Peggy Matte, James M. and Dallas Matte and Michael K. and Kathy Matte; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona and Anthony Dicapo, Sylvia and Walter Pearce and Lillian and Wilson Bourque; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Seville and Alice Darbonne, Edwin and Marie Darbonne, Leon and Hilda Darbonne, James and Bertha Darbonne, Clifford and Genevieve Darbonne and Norris Darbonne; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Milton Joseph Matte; parents, Clef and Helen Darbonne; and a granddaughter, Debra Matte. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Sidney Cull; two sisters, Macie Dedon and Grace Cannon; a brother, Jud Collier; two granddaughters and husbands, Wendi and Alan Perander and Stacy and Adil Lakhlif; and two great-grandchildren, Sheila Perander and Mohammed Lakhlif. Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. McCallum; father and mother, Alfred D. and Bertha Walker Collier; a son, Ronnie C. McCallum; an infant son, Terry McCallum; and a sister, Thelma Self.
MESSER, EUGENE JAMES "GENE"
A retired maintenance employee at Agrico Chemical with 34 years of service, he died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at his residence in Gonzales. He was 84 and a native of Doffit, Okla. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Company B, 78th Infantry Division, in the Aleutian Islands. Survived by his wife, Barbara Roam Messer, Gonzales; a daughter, Jane Istre, Gonzales; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Messer and Marietta Messer, Youngsville; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Messer and Bessie Shears Messer; two sisters and two brothers. He was a member of the American Legion and First Baptist Church in Gonzales and was an avid bowler.
PARKER, RUBY LEE
A homemaker and a resident of Brittany, she died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 52 and a native of Sorrento. Visiting at Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. interment in Butler Cemetery. Survived by two sisters and their husbands, May Jane and Richard Black and Pearline and Henry Celestine; a brother, John H. Parker; a devoted friend, Walter Bureau; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
RIVERE, IRENE CAUSIN
A homemaker and resident of Brusly St. Vincent, she died at 7:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at her home. She was 87 and a native of Donaldsonville. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Itzy Blanchard and Audrey and Jerry Theriot, all of Paincourtville; a son and daughter-in-law, Enaux Jr. and Mazie Mabile Rivere, Brusly St. Vincent; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Enaux Rivere Sr.; an infant daughter; parents, Wilson Causin and Lucy Marie Causin Guidry; a son-in-law, Robert Blanchard; brothers, Elphiege, Sidney and Edward Causin and Lester Guidry; and four sisters, Ester Dugar and Anna Mae, Rita and Lawnteen Causin. Pallbearers were grandchildren. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society.

A paint contractor and resident of Denham Springs, he Passed away at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at his residence. He was 61 and a native of Indianapolis. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his soulmate, Patricia Donaldson of Denham Springs; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nadine and Tony Schlegel of Homedale, Idaho, Kimberly Hobdy of Watson and Hazel and Ted Semper of Gonzales; a son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Kristie Hobdy of Slidell; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathy and Bill Hall of Bellmont, Ohio, and Rebecca and Larry Womack of Denham Springs; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Nevie Spall of Wilder, Idaho, and John and Kathy Spall of Lynnville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Shasta, Sean, T.J., Jamy, Robert, Michael, Mersaydes, Madison, Marci, Mary and Kyla; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. and Myrtle Keithly Spall.

Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Cliff Slay and Barbara and Curtis Ford; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Toya Wilkes; eight grandchildren, Stanley Wilkes, Michael Wilkes, Virginia Brinkman, Chantell Breckrenridge, Tina Adam, Scott Ford, Kelly Cardenal and Neil Jason Ford; 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Stambaugh; parents, Ealy and Georgia PreVatt Stambaugh; a son, Danny Wilkes; and brothers and sisters.

Survived by his mother, Mary Frances Jarreau; father, John Albin Andre; and stepfather, Cecil Jarreau, all of Rosedale; wife, Julie Andre, Baton Rouge; former spouse, Marilyn Donner, Prairieville; two sons, Brandon Andre, Rosedale, and Trevor Andre, Baton Rouge; three daughters, Megan, Kelsey and Hailey Andre, all of Prairieville; a sister, Vickie Anderson and spouse Mark, West Chester, Pa.; three brothers, Johnny Andre, Houston, Tim Andre and wife Sandra and Calvin Andre, all of Rosedale; four nieces, two nephews and a great-nephew. Preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Donald "Donnie" Andre. Pallbearers were Brandon, Tim, Johnny, Jake and Calvin Andre and Luke Canezaro. Honorary pallbearers were Trevor and Dexter Andre.
