Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edwin "Smiley" Stiles, age 67, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in the Immanuel Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA where he was a faithful member, with Rev. Kenneth Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in the Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2012 5:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Mr. Stiles was born on May 13, 1945 to Andrew "Hamp" and Otha Roberts Stiles in Plain Dealing, LA and passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Bossier City, LA. . He had worked as a welder and was employed with the Bossier Parish Highway Department for 5 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing and loved his dogs. He had a special dog named Roxanne.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynn Hill Stiles of Plain Dealing; children, James Long and wife, Angela of Burlington, NC; Danny Long of Houston, TX; Rene' Wren and husband, Bruce of Dallas, TX; Margaret Hall and husband, David of Grand Rivers, KY; Lee Skinner and wife, Jennifer of Doyline, LA; twenty grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Stiles and wife, Jeannie; Jack Stiles and wife, Patsy; Hollis Stiles; Marie Panquin; Deneva Fish; Dorothy Hall and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Stiles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James E. Stiles, Willis E. Stiles, John Ray Stiles, Dalton Stiles and sister, Shirley Spivey.

Pallbearers will be Shelton Stiles, Jay Stiles, James Hall, Tim Stiles, John D. Stiles and Jimmy Tripp, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bossier Parish Highway Department.

Funeral services for Mr.Mitchell Sean English, age 39, will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 10:00 am in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Haynesville, LA, with Bro. Rodney Gray officiating. Interment will follow in New Ramah Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 02, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.

Mitchell was born on April 21, 1972 in Haynesville, LA and passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 in Homer, LA.

He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Loreana English; son, Mitchell Wade English both of Haynesville, LA; mother, Linda Sneed and husband, Charles "Bo" of Haynesville, LA; father, Gary English and wife, Tommye Jane of Homer, LA; grandmother, Susan Copeland of Haynesville, LA; step-sisters, Rebecca Lynn Montgomery and husband, Billie of Shongaloo, LA, Connie Lynn Gray of Magnolia, AR; step-brother, Charles "Bubba" Sneed of Shongaloo, LA.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don Ivan and Anna Rhea Rabb and paternal grandparents, Harris and Lavern English.

Pallbearers will be Billie Montgomery, Ryan Beavers, Charles Sneed, Troy Gilbert, Shannon McDaniels, Lee Mills, Cody Lowrey, and Gary Clements.

Huey P. Vowell

September 25, 1935 - April 3, 2010

Graveside services and interment for Huey P. Vowell, age 74, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Sikes Ferry Cemetery. Rev. Donald Tyson will officiate with arrangements under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.

Mr. Vowell, a lifelong resident of this area, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Springhill. He was a member of the Assembly of God church and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Vowell was a veteran of the US Marine Corp and is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Ophelia Beck Vowell, on February 23, 2009,son, Huey Eugene Vowell, his parents, Pernell and Mary Carr Vowell, one brother and two sisters.

He is survived by daughters, Angela Vowell and Tammy Vowell, both of Caldwell, TX; step-children, Don Tyson and wife, Barbara; Wayne Tyson and wife, Donna, all of Springhill, LA; Mary Clements and husband, Jerry of Haynesville, LA; Betty Smith and husband, Clyde of Shongaloo, LA; Kathy Shaver and husband, Ronald of Springhill, LA; brother, Doyle Vowell and wife, Nona of Sarepta, LA; 17 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Bailey Mortuary.

Charles "Ed" Edward Owen

March 11, 1931 - April 2, 2010

Funeral services for Charles "Ed" Owen, age 79, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2010 in the Chapel of Bailey Mortuary of Haynesville, Louisiana. Rev. Jim Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ware's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Inc.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bailey Mortuary, Haynesville, LA.

He was born March 11, 1931 in Columbia County, Arkansas to Walter and Laura "Floyd" Owen and passed from this life on Friday, April 2, 2010 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Ed was self-employed as the owner of Ed Owen Contractor, Inc. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Ware's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Preceding Mr. Owen in death are his parents and his daughter Brenda Jean Owen.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, of 55 years, Betty "Mason" Owen of Haynesville, LA; sons, Charles "Eddie" Owen, Jr. and wife, Denise of Homer, LA and Jimmy Don Owen of Haynesville, LA; daughter, Kathy Owen of Hope, Arkansas; grandchildren, Crystal Owen of Monroe, LA and Charles E. "Trae" Owen,III of Haynesville, LA; sister, Shirley Odom and husband Roy of Haynesville, LA. Ed will also be missed by a host of special friends.

Marie Raborn Nelson

July 26, 1918 - May 26, 2010

Cullen, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Nanie Raborn Nelson, age 91, will be held Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Brignac and Rev. Mike Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Thursday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Mortuary.

Mrs. Nelson was born July 26, 1918 in Lillie, LA to Hardy Monroe and Della Deware Greer Raborn and passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in Springhill, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, co-owner of Nelson Saw Company and a homemaker. Mrs. Nelson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Bobby Nelson and wife, Linda of Springhill, LA; grandchildren, Scott Nelson of Ivan, LA, Stacy Nelson of Shreveport, LA, Gary Garrett of Sarepta, LA, Ricky Garrett of New Orleans, LA, Sherry Garret of Springhill, LA and great granddaughter, Hailey.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.P. Chubby Nelson; daughter, Betty N Garrett; four sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers will be A.W. Nelson, Jr., Lloyd Nelson, Kyle Butler, Gerald Morgan, Jack Weddle and Mike Corley.

James Sidney "Trapper" Foster

December 16, 2011

Graveside services and interment for James Sidney Trapper Foster, age 83, will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Western Cemetery, Emerson, AR with Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Services will be under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA

Visitation will be Sunday, 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Foster, a resident of this area for 56 years, died Friday, December 16, 2011 in Taylor, AR. He was a member of the New Sarepta Baptist Church and a retired employee of International Paper Company with 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, and had worked as a commercial fisherman and trapper. He will be remembered by many for his love of animals and nature. He is preceded in death by his wife, June Modisette Foster on June 21, 2006 and by his parents, Sidney Russian and Katie Clark Foster.

He is survived by daughters, Monica Jean Davis and husband, Al of Milton, FL; Minerva D. Kennedy and husband, David of Hartshorn, MO; sons, Sidney James Foster and wife, Dawn of Ruston, LA; Dickie Dale Foster and wife, Judy of Beckville, TX; step-children, Linda Gay Dees, Wanda Kay Smith and husband, Stan, Pamela June Dees, Vicki Yvonne Carpenter and husband, Jimmy, Marion Michael Dees and wife, Deborah, Ronnie Dees and wife, Barbara; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Martha Kappes and husband, Bob of Springhill, LA; brother, A. W. Foster and wife, Mavis of Springhill, LA.

James Rupert Modisette, Jr.
May 23, 1986 - June 7, 2012

Graveside services for Mr. James Rupert “Jamie” Modisette, Jr., age 26 will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 4:00 PM in Sikes Ferry Cemetery, Shongaloo, LA with Bro. Gary Rivers officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Modisette was born May 23, 1986 to James Rupert and Betty Dianne Vowell Modisette in Shreveport, LA and passed away June 7, 2012. He was a resident of Sarepta, LA and was a truck driver for USA Transport. Mr. Modisette loved driving his truck, riding horses and his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his parents; fiancée, Elizabeth Ann Dixon and unborn child; son, Trenton; all of Sarepta, LA; sisters, Kristin Michelle Jimenez and husband, Pablo of Springhill, LA, Mary Katherine Modisette of Arkadelphia, AR; brother, Jonathan Charles Modisette of Sarepta, LA; nephews, Pedro Alexander Jimenez of Springhill, Adrian Donato Jimenez of Springhill; nieces, Maria Dianne Jimenez of Springhill, Jaiden Danielle Hart of Springhill, Chesney LeAnn Payne of Sarepta, LA and other family members.
