Sheila Faye VanArsdel

November 5, 1965 - March 28, 2009

Taylor, AR - Graveside services and interment for Sheila Faye VanArsdel, age 43, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 3, 2009 in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Shongaloo, LA with Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Thursday, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bailey Mortuary.

Sheila, a lifelong resident of this area, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Springhill after a sudden illness. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Some will remember Sheila for her kindness, her laughter and her ability to speak to the heart. Others will remember her for her athletic ability in swimming, ballet, twirling, etc. Sheila was considered to be a country girl, her hobbies included fishing, hunting and relaxing by the lake. She will also be remembered by her beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. Sheila will be greatly missed by all those that dearly love her.

She was the devoted mother of her surviving daughter, Kourtney R. Kimmerling and husband, Kris of Springhill and son, Derek Keith; her beloved mother and father, Carol Bailey of Taylor, AR; Henry VanArsdel of Greenwood, LA; friend, William Robert Smith, III of Shreveport, LA; aunt and uncle, Alice and Tom Craig of Springhill, LA; cousins, Pamela Inge and husband, Bradley of Springtown, TX; Laurie Sutton and husband, Mark of Memphis, TN; Natalie Sutton and husband, David of LaPlace, LA.

Ms. VanArsdel was preceded in death by her grandparents, Smith and Syble Short Bailey.

Melvin R. Teutsch

July 10, 1912 - December 24, 2011

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin R. Teutsch , age 99, will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Union Springs Baptist Church, Shongaloo, LA, with Bro. Larry Buford officiating. Interment will follow in Union Springs Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 26, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Teutsch was born on July 10, 1912 to Walter Jacob and Martha Nealy Teutsch in Shongaloo and passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 in Minden, LA. He was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church, a deacon for 60 years, and retired from Exxon Mobile formerly Humble Oil Co. after 32 years of service. Mr. Teutsch loved to garden and travel.

He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Billie Slack Teutsch; daughter, Shirley Gamble and husband, Cloy of Minden, LA; daughter-in-law, Mary Teutsch of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Emily Harper of Houston, TX.

Mr. Teutsch was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Paul David Teutsch, Glenn Roger Teutsch; brothers, Rudolph and Felton Teutsch; sisters, Eunice Fields, Ernestine Long, and Marie Simmons.

Hagan Carl "Sonny" Kirkpatrick

July 23, 1937 - February 9, 2012

Funeral services for Hagan Carl Sonny Kirkpatrick, age 74, will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Haynesville with John Dupree and son, Bobby Ray Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Old Town Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.

Visitation will begin Saturday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was born July 23, 1937 in Home, LA to Carl Porter and Annie Mary Duty Kirkpatrick and passed away February 9, 2012 in Homer, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of the Church of Christ, was a former painting contractor and was in the sporting good business of making Duck Calls. Mr. Kirkpatrick was also a US Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patsy Mitchell Kirkpatrick of Haynesville, LA; daughters, Deborah Kay Bullock of Tupelo, MS, Lisa Ann Chapman and husband, Jim of Gilmer, TX; son, Bobby Ray Kirkpatrick and wife, Peggy of Crossett, AR; grandchildren, Cristy Lynn Christan, Christopher Carl Whitfield and wife, Kaitlyn, Gregory Leonard Adams, Thomas Carl Adams and wife, Samantha, LeAnna Marie Kirkpatrick, Joshua Hagan Kirkpatrick, Kaitlyn Michelle Kirkpatrick; great grandchildren, Matthew, Grace; sisters, Jean Reeves of Haynesville, LA, Mary Jane Pace of Haynesville, LA, Diane Newton of Shongaloo, LA; brothers, Alfred L. Buddy Kirkpatrick of Shreveport, LA, William Oscar Kirkpatrick of Shongaloo, LA, Alfred Lanier Bo Kirkpatrick of Homer, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Reeves, Randy Reeves, Todd Kirkpatrick, Donny Newton, Joshua Kirkpatrick and Daven Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Reeves and Tyler Hicks.

Bradley, AR - Graveside service for Mr. E.F. Buddy Jackson, age 89, will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:00PM in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA with Rev. Roy Richardson officiating.

Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Bailey Mortuary, Plain Dealing, LA.

Mr. Jackson was born December 20, 1920 to Elbert Eldridge and Lillie Wilson Jackson in Mira, LA and passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Texarkana, TX. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Bradley Methodist Church and a mechanic.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Hendrix of Texarkana, AR, Betty Cook and husband, Charles of Bradley, AR, Mary Foster and husband, Jamie of Texarkana, AR; sons, Buddy Ray Jackson & wife, T.J. of Little Rock, AR, Larry Jackson & wife, Barbara of Plain Dealing, LA, Walter Jackson and wife, Linda of Campti, LA, Kevin Jackson and wife, Dianne of Plain Dealing, LA, James Jackson and wife, Yvonne of Bradley, AR, Paul Jackson and wife, Becky of Harleton, TX, Ralph Jackson and wife, Shelia of Dexter, MO; twenty-six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lorene Silkwood Jackson, February 9, 2006 and a grandson, James Brandon Foster.

Charles Elliott

November 11, 1944 - October 15, 2012

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Haywood Elliott, age 67, will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with Bro. Buddy Craft officiating. Interment will follow in Plain Dealing Cemetery with military graveside rites by Barksdale Honor Guard under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Elliott was born November 11, 1944 in Jena, LA to C.J. and Minnie Mae Roark Elliott and passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He had been a resident of Plain Dealing since 1993 and a former resident of Springhill, LA. Mr. Elliott was a faithful member and deacon of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church and was retired from Century Link (Century Tele Phone Company). He was also a US Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Miller of Bossier City, LA, Cheryl Cook and husband, Mitchell of Plain Dealing, LA; son T.J. Elliott of Stonewall, LA; grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Jr., Josh Miller, Christina Cook, Carlie Cook, Jordan Miller and brother, Bobby Elliott.

Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Peck Elliott and many brothers and sisters.

Serving as pallbearers will be Walter Peck, Jamie Elliott, Ryan Peck, T.J. Elliott, Joshua Miller and Mitchell Cook.

Ms. Jones was born December 26, 1947 in Taylor, AR to William Billy Winston and Georgia Thompson Fields and passed away suddenly Thursday, September 08, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. She was a resident of Sarepta, LA, a member of the Church of Christ and employed by Timberland Truck Stop.

She is survived by her sons, Billy Hunt and wife, Lien of Linden, TX, Ross Jones of Sarepta, LA; daughter, Annette Hallonquist and husband, Neal of Pittsburg, TX; mother, Georgia Stamper of Sarepta, LA; brother, Bill Fields and wife, Gail of Sarepta, LA; sister, Brenda Darst and husband, Ronnie of Springhill, LA, Ada Davis and husband, Bo of Deer Park, TX; step-brothers, Johnny Stamper of Springhill, LA, Mike Stamper and wife, Renee of Lake Charles, LA; step-sister, Kathy Beaty and husband, James of Caldwell, TX; granddaughter, Holly Wall and husband, Brandon of Linden, TX; grandsons, Joe Hallonquist, Kurt Hallonquist, both of Pittsburg, TX; great grandchildren, Emily, Hannah and Andrew Wall and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her father and her step-father, Amos Stamper.

Pallbearers will be Ross Jones, Trevor Davis, Kurt Hallonquist, Chad Darst, Brandon Wall and Josh Fields.
