Joyce Louvenia Cannon

June 24, 1939 - February 28, 2013

Graveside services for Ms. Joyce Louvenia Cannon, age 73, will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Blocker Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Billy Barker officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Saturday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Ms. Cannon was born June 24, 1939 in Shreveport, LA to Frank and Novie Thurman Cannon and passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 in Springhill, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. Ms. Cannon was also the co-owner of H.P. Packing Company and was a retail store clerk. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son, David Payne and wife, Billie of Sarepta, LA; grandchildren, John Payne and wife, Amy of Texarkana, AR, Julie Barker and husband, Billy of Jonesboro, AR, Josh Payne and wife, Kati of Vicksburg, MS; great grandson, Zachary Alan Payne of Texarkana, AR and sister, Norma Jean Bishop of Ft. Worth, TX.

Ms. Cannon was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Joe Payne and sisters, Melba Sue Hinton and Laverne Cannon.

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Payne, John Payne, Billy Barker, Brandon Vollmer, Dale Morgan and Terry Pickard. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Teague, Larry Deen, Willard Cox, Jerry Slack, Lanny Moore and Sidney Cox.

Cody James Cole

November 4, 1986 - March 1, 2013

Funeral services for Mr. Cody James Cole, age 26, will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 4:00 PM in Old Sarepta Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Pickard and Rev. Tim Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Saturday, March 02, 2013 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Cody was born November 4, 1986 in Homer, LA to Jamey Cole and Wendy Moore and passed away March 1, 2013 in Springhill, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Unity Baptist Church and was a Columbia Sheriff Deputy.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Glass Cole; daughter, Emma Brooke; sons, Jacob Dwain, Joshua Blake, all of Taylor, AR; mother, Wendy Moore of Springhill, LA; father, Jamey Cole and wife, Janene of Springhill, LA; maternal grandmother, Nancy Herron-DuPont and husband, David of Leton, LA; maternal grandfather, Marlon “Sonny” Moore and wife, Beth of Sarepta, LA; paternal grandmother, Cathy Cole of Cotton Valley, LA; sisters; Chelsea Brady of Bossier City, LA, Laura Cole of Minden, LA, Rachel Cole of Cotton Valley, LA, Lyndie Green of Springhill, LA, Hannah Driskill, Kathy Ann Driskill, both of Minden, LA; brothers, Hunter Green of Springhill, LA, Jonathan Brady and wife, Jessica of Springhill, LA and nephew, Ryan Brady.

Cody was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Dale Cole; maternal grandfather, M. E. “Shank” Herron and sister, Holly Brook.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brent McCarty, Tom Brady, Brady Bass, Charles Cole, Jr, Josh Bowling and Josh Glass.

Wayne Harmon Hodges Boyd

October 25, 1936 - February 23, 2013

Bossier City/Plain Dealing, LA - Funeral services for Ms. Wayne Hodges Boyd, age 76, will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Salem Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA, with Bro. Sam Marino officiating. Interment will follow in Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Boyd was born on October 25, 1936 to Hugh Abner and Audie King Hodges in Plain Dealing, LA and passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Bossier City, LA. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Plain Dealing and was a retired medical receptionist. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Wayne Boyd and wife, Sherry of Haughton, LA, James Boyd and wife Linda, of Princeton, LA; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jerry Jenkins and husband, Tony of Plain Dealing, Merry Hunt of Plain Dealing, Joann Lewis of Frederick, MD; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents; son, Allan Ray Boyd; and the father of her children, R.W. Boyd Jr.

Pallbearers will be David Shannon Boyd, James David Boyd Jr., Chris Lee, Lance Boyd, Rusty Jenkins, and Randall S. Lee.

The family wishes to extend special thank you to the staff at Pilgrim Manor for their love and support during this time.

Nettie McKinzie Hamiter

Plain Dealing, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Irene McKinzie Hamiter, age 89, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Oak Hill Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA, with Bro. Kenneth Lowery and Bro. Steve Pettey officiating. Interment will follow in Hamiter Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2013, 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hamiter was born on April 18, 1923, to Relaford and Ivie Pearl Nutt McKinzie in Rison, AR, and passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013, in Springhill, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Marvin Allen Hamiter. She was a charter member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Hamiter was a homemaker who loved gardening, cooking and caring for her family.

She is survived by her son, Raymond Hamiter and wife, Sharon, of Plain Dealing, LA; daughter, Judie Hamiter Barnette and husband, Dale, of Pineville, LA; three grandsons, Jeffrey Sisemore, Mark Hamiter, Cory Barnette; three granddaughters,Vicki Baroni, Wendy Wagner, Kimberly Carinio; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters, Pauline Chatelain of Bridge City, TX, Betty Cupit of Jewett, TX, Vera Moran of Star City, AR; sister-in-law, Alma Granger and husband, Gerald, of Benton, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hamiter was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ivie Orene Matthews; brothers, Allen McKinzie and Elbert Eugene "PeeWee" McKinzie, and sisters, Beatie Case and Aline Sullivan.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Sisemore, Mark Hamiter, Cory Barnette, Logan Holyfield, Jim Carinio and Summa Stelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephanie Thomas and Cody Leonard.

Robert Lee Holland
October 11, 1920 - February 22, 2013

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lee Holland, age 92, will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Western Baptist Church with Chaplain William “Buster” Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Western Cemetery, Emerson, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin Saturday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Holland was born October 11, 1020 in Jonesboro, LA to Lee Thomas and Mary Leona King Holland and passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 in Shongaloo, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, was a retired carpenter and was a WW II US Army veteran.

He is survived by his children, Roy Holland of Shreveport, LA, James Holland of Bossier City, LA, Willie Holland of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Cathrine Holland of Ardmore, OK, Ann Holland Grappe of Haughton, LA, Kenneth Holland of Ft. Worth, TX; special granddaughters, Lee Eason Jones and husband, Dainon, Rennette Paul; son-in-law, James Eason and numerous other grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren.

Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Campbell Holland and three brothers, Erman, Herbert and Joe.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Nelson was born on December 4, 1930 to John Lee and Faye Jennings Taylor in Taylor, AR and passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. She was an active and founding member of Calvary Baptist Church, Springhill, LA. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook and was famous for her coconut and chocolate pies. "Ma" loved to play games and travel. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Jenny Campbell and husband Don of Shongaloo, Nancy Rudolph and husband David of Big Sandy, TX; daughter-in-law, Kim Nelson of Sterlington, LA; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billie Bruce Nelson; son, Phillip Bruce Nelson; brothers, J.L. Taylor and Terry Taylor; and sister, Ernestine Emerson.

Pallbearers will be Jason Campbell, Jesse Rudolph, Alex Rudolph, Lloyd Nelson, Brian Lawton, and Jonathan Nelson.
