Eva Mae Bandy

June 15, 1922 - September 15, 2012

Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Mae Bandy, age 90, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Deacon Larry Mills officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, at Bailey Funeral Home. rosary will be held at 6:30 PM.

Mrs. Bandy was born June 15, 1922 in Rumford, Maine to Romeo Arthur and Edith Mae Henry Turgeon and died Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Bossier City, LA. She had been a resident of Springhill since 1938, was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by sons, Mark Bandy of Shreveport, LA; James Bandy of Springhill, LA; daughters, Deborah Dickson and husband, David of Doyline, LA; Sharon Smith and husband, Michael of Minden, LA; Patricia Carver and husband Bill of Shongaloo, LA; grandchildren, Jeramy Dickson and wife, Michelle of Pineville, LA; Nicole Fish and husband, Mark of Princeton, LA; Damian Miller and wife, Heather of Taylor, AR; Erik Miller and Wendy; Myranda Smith-Terry and husband, Steven all of Minden, LA; great-grandchildren, Justin, Jonathan, Savannah, Micah and Paden. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hamp Bandy on March 19, 2003; her parents, brothers, Robert Turgeon and Romeo Turgeon, Jr.; sisters, Adelaide Turgeon and Dorothy McKinney; grandsons, Andrew Carver, Stephen and Stanley Bandy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Fish, Mark Fish, Damian Miller, Erik Miller, Michael Smith and Jeramy Dickson.

We would like to thank the staff and nurses of Promise Hospital for their kindness and care during her stay and a special Thanks to Robin and Deborah.

Patricia Nell "Pat" Tompkins

September 7, 1940 - September 15, 2012

Funeral services for Ms. Patricia Nell “Pat” Tompkins, age 72, will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, with Rev. Scott Teutsch officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Ms. Tompkins was born September 7, 1940 in Cullen, LA to Lloyd and Sylvietta Marie Boyett Tompkins and passed away September 15, 2012 in Texarkana, TX. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her sister, Pam Hartley of Springhill, LA; brothers, Tommy Tompkins and wife, Sharon of Walker Creek, AR, Mike Tompkins and wife, Cindy of Bushnell, FL and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Tompkins was preceded in death by her parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff McFadden, Brandon McFadden, Scott Tompkins, Wayne McMahen, Cliff New and Toby Nations. Honorary pallbearers will be Connie Ray Teutsch, Labon Tompkins and Tom Slaughter.

Mary Johnson McKinney

April 15, 1929 - September 12, 2012

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Johnson McKinney, age 83, will be held Friday, September 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Chaplin Buster Bailey in Rocky Mount Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Thursday at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Mrs. McKinney was born April 15, 1929 in Rocky Mount, LA to Ernest Clark and Mary “Mamie” Burks Johnson and passed away September 12, 2012 in Springhill, LA. She was a lifelong resident of Rocky Mount, a member and elder of Rocky Mount Presbyterian Church and graduated from Rocky Mount High School. Mrs. McKinney also graduated from the Confederate Memorial Nursing School of Shreveport and was a retired RN. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Michael “Mike” McKinney and wife, Vicky of Plain Dealing, LA; grandchildren, Weston McKinney, Lee McKinney and wife, Tori; great grandchildren, Dylan, Peyton, Cody, Cassidy, Jackson and sisters, Gloria Marie Whittaker of Ft. Worth, TX and Monty Thurman of Springhill, LA.

Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Jackson “Jack” McKinney on March 17, 1999 and brother, John C. Johnson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Lindsey, Terry Lindsey, Weston McKinney, Lee McKinney, Jeff Jenkins and Greg Smotherman.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff of Carrington Place Nursing Home, the Unit and Agape Hospice.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.

Donavon "Don" F. Boggs (Ret.MSGT/USAF)
February 23, 1933 - September 5, 2012

Devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather

Funeral services for Mr. Donovan F. “Don” Boggs, age 79, will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the First Presbyterian Church, Plain Dealing, with Rev. William Seawright officiating. Interment will follow in Plain Dealing Cemetery with full military graveside rites under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will begin Friday at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Don was born to Luther Cavett and Susie Strayhan Boggs on February 23, 1933 in Bossier Parish and passed away on September 5, 2012 in Bossier Parish. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he was employed by Benton Creosoting Works and then as a deputy with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Margie Morgan Boggs; daughters, Lisa and husband, Howard Haynie; Donna and husband, Richard McFadden; granddaughter, Skyla and husband, Eric Dennen; grandson, Michael McFadden and great grandson, Connor Dennen.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Sam, and sister, Mamie Sue Carter. He is also survived by his sisters, Margie Cumming, Audrey Sabin, Addie Humble and brother, Luke Boggs.

Serving as pallbearers will be James O’Daniel, Richard McFadden, Michael McFadden, Sammy Boggs, Fred Morgan, Eric Dennen, Randy Watkins and Howard Haynie.

Don lived a full and happy life, his profound strength serving as an inspiration to all who knew him. The love and devotion he showed his wife and family will serve as a solid foundation for us to continue on. We will dearly miss his gentle spirit, calm presence, quiet wisdom and wicked sense of humor.

Jimmy Robert Tyler
June 6, 1938 - August 26, 2012

Funeral serviced for Mr. Jimmy Robert Tyler, age 74, will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, with Rev. Todd McKamie and Rev. Joseph Stacks officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Tyler was born June 6, 1938 in Springhill, LA to Roy Hudson and Nolia Thelma Mason Tyler and passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his home in Taylor, AR. He is a native of Springhill, LA, a former resident of Texarkana, TX, then moving back to Lake Earling. Mr. Tyler was retired from General Telephone Electric Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church where he served his Lord and church. Mr. Tyler was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Charles Tyler of Taylor, AR; son, James Richard Tyler and wife, Dorothy of Taylor, AR; four grandchildren, Christopher Tyler and wife, Bobbie Jo, Sarah Tyler, Jimmy Mack Hall and wife, Jennifer, J.D. Hall and wife, Vicky; great grandchildren, Jonathan, Mathew, Jordan, Jared, Hailey, Landon, Lizzie, Sophie, Kylie; brother, Herman Tyler and wife, Patsy and host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tyler was preceded in death by his parents; his half-sister, Sybil Sears and half-brother, Harold Sears.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Charles, Jim Bland, Lloyd Clements, Jimmy Mack Hall, J.D. Hall and Jimmy McKamie.
