A memorial graveside service for Infant Warner Holcomb Pryor will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Springhill Cemetery with Rev. Tim Everett officiating.

Infant Pryor went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2011. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Lacey McGrew of Shongaloo, LA; father, Jeremiah Pryor of Magnolia, AR; maternal grandmother, Jennifer Charles of Sarepta, LA; maternal grandfather, Ricky McGrew of Keithville, LA; paternal grandparents, Buddy and Tina Pryor of Taylor, AR; maternal great grandmother, Eileen Thomas of Sarepta and siblings, Caroline and Aaron Pryor of Shongaloo, LA.

Jean Sanford Whitehurst
(March 11, 1928 - June 6, 2011)

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Sanford Whitehurst, age 83, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Haynesville United Methodist Church in Haynesville with Rev. David J. Sheehan officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Haynesville.

Mrs. Whitehurst was born March 11, 1928 and passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 in Mandeville, LA. She was formerly a resident of Haynesville for 55 years and a member of the Haynesville United Methodist Church. Jean loved reading, sewing, playing bridge, traveling, and eating chocolate. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. “Pete” Whitehurst; parents, Hiram W. Sanford and Ruth Wilson Sanford and sister, Juanita Sanford Nelson.

She is survived by her children, James A. Whitehurst and wife Paulette of Bryan, TX, Susan Whitehurst LaBorde of Shreveport, LA, and Steven C. Whitehurst and wife Lisa of Mandeville, LA; grandchildren, Michael Whitehurst of Orange, CA, Heather Stobaugh and husband Tommy of Houston, TX, Mike Zipperer and wife Normarie of Kingwood, TX, Tara LaBorde Miley and husband Todd of West Monroe, LA, Jeremy LaBorde of West Monroe, LA, Ashley Brand and husband John of Katy, TX, Lindsey Whitehurst of Baton Rouge, LA, John McCoy of Mandeville, LA and Emily Whitehurst of Mandeville, LA; great grandchildren, Ava, Kate, and Collier Miley; Tyler, Dallas, and Garrett Zipperer; Katelyn, Kaesey, Noah, Joshua, Sadie, and Levi Stobaugh; brother, Charles W. Sanford and wife Karlene of Homer, LA.

Bobby Ray Davis
(January 23, 1943 - June 4, 2011)

Funeral services for Bobby Ray Davis, age 68, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Plain Dealing Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hardbarger and Rev. Billy Pierce officiating. Interment, with Masonic graveside rites, will be held in the Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Davis, a lifelong resident of this area died Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Bossier City, LA. He was a deacon of the Plain Dealing Baptist Church, a retired deputy with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office with 15 years of service and was a member of the Plain Dealing Masonic Lodge #237 F&AM.; He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his father, H. T. Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Carol Rich Davis; daughters, Dana Renee Green and husband, Chris, of Benton, LA; Deanna Rochelle Simensky and husband, Bernard of Missouri City, TX; sons, Donald Ray Davis and wife, LaTricia of Magnolia, AR; David Randall Davis and wife, Dana of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Alma Jean Davis and Mildred Jones, both of Shreveport, LA; Lanette Butler and husband, John of Plain Dealing, LA; grandchildren, Michael Davis, Christopher Green, Kayla Green, Kimberly Green and Blake Simensky; his mother, Audrey Davis and mother-in-law, Dorothy Rich, both of Plain Dealing and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Plain Dealing Baptist Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s.

Lila Ruth Durham
(October 25, 1926 - May 30, 2011)

Funeral services for Lila Ruth Durham, 84, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Haynesville Church of Christ. Bro. Steve McWhorter will officiate and burial will follow in the Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Durham passed away on May 30, 2011.

Visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Durham was born in Vicksburg, MS on October 25, 1926 to Edward L. and Lora Ann Davis Watts. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul Watts and Wayne Watts. Mrs. Durham was a seamstress for 21 years at Edmont Wilson and a member of the Haynesville Church of Christ. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert “Bob” Durham of Haynesville, LA; two sons, Gary Durham and wife, Teri of Shongaloo, LA and Dennis Durham and wife, Daisy of Haynesville, LA; two daughters, Robin Mason of Haynesville, LA and Amber Pearson and husband, Steve of Pineville, LA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Terry Watts; three sisters, Joy Turnage, Frances Presley, and Mildred Hayen.

Pallbearers will be Jereme Mason, Mark Durham, Miko Penitusi, Steven Pearson, Lynn Watts and Rusty Durham.

Shelby Monk
(August 7, 1953 - June 1, 2011)

Funeral services for Mr. Shelby Monk, 57, of Haynesville will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church. Bro. Rodney Gray will officiate with the burial following at the Bernice Cemetery in Bernice, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc. of Haynesville. He passed away on June 1, 2011 in Bossier City, LA.

Mr. Monk was born in Vicksburg, MS on August 7, 1953 to John Sullivan and Gladys Monk. Both parents preceded him in death. He worked at Hollensworth Construction in Minden since 1995. Mr. Monk loved fishing, hunting, gardening, welding, painting, and was a jack of all trades. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Haynesville.

He is survived by: wife, Jeanie Monk of Haynesville; one son, Larry Jurls & wife, Linda of Hope, AR; two daughters, Crystal Marie Jurls of Magnolia, AR and Michelle Mason & husband, Paul of Sarepta, LA; six grandchildren.

Carroll Glen Barnett
(November 14, 1951 - June 2, 2011)

Graveside services for Mr. Carroll Glen Barnett, age 59, will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Springhill Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Cheney officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Mr. Barnett was born November 14, 1951 in Georgia to George Edward and Mildred Dean Barnett, Jr and passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Monroe, LA. He was a resident of the Monroe area and a former resident of the Springhill area. Mr. Barnett was of the Methodist faith and was a security guard for Burns Security Company.

He is survived by numerous aunts and cousins and was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary Nell Eason Combs
(December 6, 1958 - May 21, 2011)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Nell Eason Combs, age 52, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Everett Grice officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will begin 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Combs, a lifelong resident of this area, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 in Minden, LA. She was a member of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jean Beshea and Bobby Joe Eason, Sr.; daughter, Natasha Kirkland; son, Matt Chamblee and grandson, Cade Kirkland.

She is survived by a sister, Shelia Ann Rhodes of Minden, LA; brothers, Bobby Joe Eason, Jr. and wife, Susie; Charles Eason and wife, Maria, all of Springhill, LA; grandchildren, Raleigh Chamblee, Benton Kirkland and Krisy Hanson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alston Eason, Josh Eason, Dennis Endsley, Greg Sanders, Phil Phillips and Roy Eason.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Minden Medical Center for their loving care.

Christine A. Lopez
(August 10, 1920 - May 20, 2011)

Graveside services for Mrs. Christine A. Lopez, age 90, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 23, 2011 at Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. Interment will be in the Forest Park West Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home

Mrs. Lopez, a resident of Springhill for over 70 years, died Friday, May 20, 2011 in Shreveport. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Lopez in 1988; grandson, Michael Lopez; and infant child, Dennie Lopez.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Roth and husband, Dewayne, of Benton, LA; Fred Lopez and wife, Ginger of San Antonia, TX; sisters, Ruby Green and Elizabeth Turner, both of Monroe, LA; and her special pet dog, “Cookie”. Also, special friends, Jeanette Beshea and Donna Williamson.

Serving as pallbearers will be LaVaine Williamson, Ryan O’Glee, James Rawls, Jonathan Curlin, Dewayne Roth and Dr. Wayne McMahen.

The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. John Hardin, Dr. Stuart Blum, Dr. Alan Borne, Dr. John Davis, Sister Suni, nurses and staff at Christus Highland Hospital, and Louisiana Homecare for their wonderful care.
