May 27, 1936 - February 13, 2012

Evelyn Delores Smith, 75, passed from this life on Monday, February 13, 2012.
Mrs. Smith was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife and had a love for animals.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Jerry Johnson and wife Monica of Pitkin, Louisiana; four daughters, Vickie Griffin of Harlingen, Texas; Deborah Wise and husband Terry of Mora, Louisiana; Rhonda Haymon and husband Jon of Pineville, Louisiana and Shelia Johnson of Iowa, Louisiana.
She is survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by husband, Doyle Smith and mother, Evelyn Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana and on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Smyrna Baptist Church in Sugartown, Louisiana. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 2:00pm at Smyrna Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Smyrna cemetery.

Barbara D. Bickham
January 23, 1939 - February 11, 2012

Barbara D. Bickham, 73, of DeRidder, Louisiana, departed this life on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Barbara was born on January 23, 1939 to Rev. Woodrow Wilson Batties and Edna Dozier Batties. Barbara graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1956. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Grambling State University in 1965. She retired from the Beauregard Parish School Board.
Those left to cherish her memory are, husband, Lonnie E. Bickham and six children, Gloria Robinson (Dennis), Ouida Batties, Gerald Bickham (Vernice), Marvin Bickham(Claudia), Alvin Wilson (Adopted Son), and Beverly Henry-Ford(Larone).She is survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, one sister, Ina Ray Johnson of DeRidder, Louisiana; one cousin, Joyce Bluitt and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral service will be Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00am at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Rev. Keith W. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will follow at Community cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana

Audrey Lee Clubbs Archie
December 16, 1951 - February 7, 2012

Audrey Lee Clubbs Archie, 60 of DeRidder, Louisiana, departed this life on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Audrey passed away after a short stay in Beauregard Memorial Hospital. Audrey was born on December 16, 1951 in DeRidder,La to the late James Clubbs and Maxine Clubbs Mitchell. She was the 5th child of 9 children.
Audrey attended George Washington Carver elementary and graduated from DeRidder High School.
She was the wife of Albert Archie of Las Vegas, Nev., and stepdaughter of James Earl Mitchell of DeRidder. Audrey was the mother of Angela Diane Clubbs(deceased) and granddaughter Adreanea Diane Donahue of Las Vegas, Nev. Audrey was preceded in death by her brother Robert Lee Clubbs(RL).

Audrey enjoyed cooking special dishes for family and friends. Audrey enjoyed visiting family from coast to coast and north to south. She especially enjoyed the Shankle Family reunions. She enjoyed family card games. Audrey was a loyal friend to her sister-in-law , Georgia Lewis who preceded her in death also. Audrey was the Godparents of Kim Davis-Hall, Kendric Pratt, Antoine Hill and Jarvis McCoy. All of her nieces and nephews loved her and loved being around her. She was someone they could talk to.

She is survived by her parents, James Earl and Maxine Mitchell(DeRidder); Ruby Pratt, Wanda Williams both of Sacramento,Ca.; Willie Clubbs(Woodbridge, Va); Linda Clubbs-Relford(Greensboro, N. Carolina); Brenda Commissioning(Orlanda, Fl.); Shirley Sterling(Snellville, Ga.); Kenneth Clubbs(Loganville,Ga.) Gloria Clubbs-Burse(Sacramento,Ca) ; and longtime life partner Lester Prater(DeRidder,La.). She is survived by a great number of nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. She leaves to mourn her passing a host of family and friends from California and Nevada.

Sis. Ira Bea (Shroll) Broxson
December 13, 1924 - February 10, 2012

II Corinthians 5:8 KJV, RLE “We are confident, I say and willing rather to absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”.

We rejoice as we celebrate the life and witness of our loved one.

Mrs. Ira Bea (Shroll) Broxson, 87, of DeQuincy, Louisiana passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on February 10, 2012 after a long and happy life. She was born in DeQuincy on December 13, 1924 with twin brother Everett Lee to Edward Clyde and Zella (Dyess) Shroll.
Ira Bea graduated from DeQuincy High School and the same week married Eugene (Gene) Broxson, Sr. in Lake Charles, Louisiana on May 21, 1943. Their marriage lasted 48 ˝ years before his death. Ira loved making her home a gathering place for friends and family with food and fellowship. In her younger days, she enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, crochet, hunting and fishing as pastimes. While residing in McComb Mississippi, Ira was employed on the sewing line for Kellwood Manufacturing. A few years later, Ira began a career as an independent sales consultant with Home Interiors and enjoyed meeting new people and helping them make their homes warm and inviting.
Ira Bea was preceded in death by her husband Gene, and Parents, four brothers: Norman Shroll, Roy Knight, Carroll J. Knight, and E.C. (Fritz) Shroll, three sisters: Fern S. Griscom, MarieEtta Stephens Baukman and EttaMarie Shoemake.
Ira Bea’s survivors include:
Son: Eugene Jr. and wife Corinne Broxson of Merryville, Louisiana
Daughter: Sondra Aline Broxson Hyman & husband Alvin C. Hyman, Sr. of Metairie, Louisiana.
One Granddaughter: Sarah Grace Broxson of Huntsville, Texas
Three Grandsons: Preston Eugene Broxson of Cottonwood, Louisiana, Brandon Broxson Hyman of Metairie, Louisiana & Alvin Christopher Hyman, Jr. of Metairie, Louisiana
Great Grandchild: Alvin Christopher Hyman III of Metairie, Louisiana
She is also survived by her twin brother, Everett Lee Shroll of Santa Ana, California, Sisters: Mrs. Elsie S. Crewell of DeQuincy, Louisiana and Mrs. Edna S. Palermo of Yucaipa, California; Sister-in-law, Mrs. Estelle Broxson Allen of Beaumont, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country.
Sis. Ira Bea was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy where she was active in the Ladies Ministry and was a faithful prayer warrior until the end of her days. A celebration honoring her life will be held at the 1st United Pentecostal Church in DeQuincy, LA on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. If you would like you may wear Ira’s favorite color of pink or bright colors when attending the service celebrating her life.
Visitation will precede the services at First United Pentecostal Church, T.D. Cardwell Center on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the First United Pentecostal Church Sanctuary. Pastor Wayne Cardwell and Elder T.D. Cardwell will officiate. Interment will be at Perkins cemetery in DeQuincy under the direction of Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
It was Ira Bea’s request in lieu of flowers; donations be made to First United Pentecostal Church building fund. If you prefer to honor Ira as a five year Breast Cancer survivor and daughter, Sondra a 30 year Breast Cancer Survivor, donations may be made to Breast Cancer awareness and education.
For several years, Ira Bea received special love and care by her niece Nina Annette Shroll Spencer in addition to a number of special friends and relatives: Burnadell Baggett, Angie Bell, Betty Berry, Dorothy Bushnell, Jenell Cooley, Cookie Gearen, Carolyn Gilbert, Mavis Goulart, Ruby Frazier, Doris Karriker, Darlene Nortman, Anna Royer, Gayla Royer, Dorothy Simmons and Maudrey Whatley. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Church family of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, the staff of Perkins pharmacy, the Odyssey Hospice Medical Care Team, DeQuincy Home Health, Dr. Jalel Joudeh and staff & Dr. Stephen Castleberry and staff.

Marilyn Marie Miller
July 26, 1955 - February 4, 2012

Marilyn M. Miller was born on July 26, 1955 in DeRidder, Louisiana to Elijah Johnson and the late Malenda Miller of DeRidder. Marilyn passed from this life on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in DeRidder, Louisiana. At an early age, she was sprinkled at New Hope CME Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wilson. She later united with Saint Mary Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder James Piper, Sr. where she served faithfully. Marilyn worked for Beauregard Parish School Board at Carver Elementary School Cafeteria for a number of years. She was formally employed by BARC.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at St. Mary Church of God in Christ in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 1:00pm at St. Mary Church of God in Christ. Superintendent Dallas Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Almadane cemetery in Almadane, Louisiana.
Those left to cherish her memories and life are daughters, Bridgette(Cassius)Perkins and Kanetta Miller of Houston, TX; brothers, Van Johnson of Irving, TX; Larry J.(Sandra) Miller of Dallas, TX; Jackie O. Miller of DeRidder, LA; father, Elijah Johnson of DeRidder, LA; half-sister, Melissa Sheff and half-brothers, Elijah Johnson, Jr., Patrick Johnson, and Chris Johnson. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jullian Bolden, Jared Miller, Cassius Perkins II and Jermysha Hadnott of Houston, TX; two great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends, and a devoted sister in law, Frankie Johnson of DeRidder, LA.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, Malenda Miller; brother, Thelton Johnson; uncles, John Miller and Otis Miller; aunts, Thelma Ford and Ruth Johnson.

Lawrence James Jackson
October 6, 1944 - February 5, 2012

Lawrence James Jackson, 67, of DeRidder, Louisiana, departed this earthly life on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Dubuis Extended Care, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Lawrence Jackson was born on October 6, 1944 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, to the late Dr. Earnest Jackson, Sr. and Almary Scott Norris. He was the second oldest of eight children. He moved back to DeRidder, La in 1999. Lawrence joined Mt. Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Earnest Jackson Sr.
Lawrence Jackson graduated from G.W. Carver High School in 1964. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. Lawrence served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1994, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm, receiving The Purple Heart Medal. In addition, Lawrence received several awards, certificates and medals. Survivors left to cherish his precious memories are; step-mother, Mrs. Ozzie Lee Jackson, three children, daughter, Cynthia Plummer (Charles) of Dallas, Texas; sons, Darrian Hall-Jackson of DeRidder, Louisiana and Rodney Brown of Dallas, Texas; 7 siblings, Mr. Earnest Jackson Jr. of Genesco, Illinois; Mrs. Patricia (Samuel) Simmons of Silvis, Illinois; Ms. Betty (Melon) Forrest of East Moline, Illinois; Mrs. Paulette (James) Holt of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Linda (Charles) Sowell of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Mrs. Barbara (Andre) Leatherman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. Brenda (Julius) Jackson of Bon Weir, Texas; 1 step-brother, 4 step-sisters, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Earnest Jackson Sr. and Almary (Jimmie) Scott Norris.

Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2012 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 9:00am to 11:00am. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. Rev. Louis Guy will officiate. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder.

Melonee Harvey Allardyce
June 19, 1926 - February 4, 2012

Melonee Harvey Allardyce , 85, of the Knight Community, passed from this life on Saturday, February 4, 2012
in Many, Louisiana.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana and on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in the Knight Community, Louisiana from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Brother Hurshel Davis and Brother Gary Glidewell will officiate. Burial will follow at Hinson cemetery in Knight Community, Louisiana. Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Gerald Allardyce and wife Betty of Moss Bluff, Louisiana and Bob Allardyce and wife Diane of Many, Louisiana; brothers, Henry O.” Sottie” Harvey and wife Ann and John Harvey and wife Pat and sister-in law, Joyce Harvey, all of the Knight Community. She is survived by six grandchildren, Jenny May and husband Jason of Stonewall, Louisiana; Jared Allardyce and wife Susan of Lafayette, Louisiana; Jodie Funderburk and husband Benji of Frierson, Louisiana; David Allardyce and wife Ashlie of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; Robin Yandell and husband Chris of Prairieville, Louisiana; and Joel Allardyce and wife Mariel of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Allardyce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oakes Allardyce, parents, Russell and Gertrude Harvey, brothers, Russell Harvey Jr. and Dan Harvey and sister, Mamie Loftin.

Kathleen Whiddon Lobes , 81, of Merryville, passed from this life on Friday, February 3, 2012 at her home.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Brother Jim Miers will officiate. Burial will follow at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Daniel G. Lobes and daughter, Diana Waddle and husband Ronnie. She is survived by three grandchildren, Jamie Lobes and wife Kaylee, Eric Lobes and Kristie Waddle and fiance’, Jordan Campbell.

She is preceded in death by husband, Anthony J. Lobes; father, Gilbert Whiddon; mother, Thessa Oden Whiddon; sisters, Norma Slaydon, Nina Vernon and Nona Lawton.
