Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Rosepine, LA and again on Friday, January 6, 2011 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Rosepine, LA. Reverands Greg Crawford and George L. Glass Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Lewis New Cypress cemetery, Rosepine, LA.
Debbie was active member of
First Baptist Church of Rosepine.

He is survived by his wife, Diana P. Rowell and son, Aaron Joseph Rowell.

Edward Dale Maddox, 60, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 in DeRidder.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Maddox of DeRidder; three sons, David Maddox and partner Micheal of Lake Charles, Christopher Maddox and wife Monica of DeRidder and Randell (Phillips) Maddox of DeRidder; three daughters, Gena Baggette and husband Jack, Bridget Nash and husband Shad and Kimberly Jackson and husband Wayne; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bennie Maddos of Merryville and David Maddox of DeRidder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and two brothers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and again on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Whitaker cemetery.
Owen Deltern "Dude" Slaydon, Sr.
Owen Deltern “Dude” Slaydon Sr., 89, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away on February 21, 2011 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Dude worked for the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office and retired after 23 years of service. He was also Ward 5 Constable for four years and served his community as a Police Juror for 8 years.
Dude was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder. He became a Christian on July 8, 1990.
Dude is survived by 3 sons: Owen Deltern Slaydon, Jr. and wife Lou of DeRidder; Robert Slaydon and Louise of DeRidder and Chester Slaydon and wife Pearl also of DeRidder. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Dude is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Slaydon; Parents, George & Lydia Slaydon; a grandson, Mason Earl Slaydon and a great grandson, Hunter Slaydon.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2012 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2012 also at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. The Reverend Zale Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Newlin cemetery in Singer, Louisiana.

Shawn Martin, 48, of Church Point, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Kerrie Delano Martin of Church Point, LA; mother, Shirley Ann Martin of DeRidder, LA; brother, Andy Martin & wife Colleen of DeRidder, LA; father-in-law, Larry & Cecilia Delano of Church Point, LA; sisters-in-law, Merila Ingram & husband Ricky of Church Point, LA, Paula Lopez & companion Paul Daigle of Opelousas, LA and Jennifer Kennerson & husband Michael of Church Point, LA; nephews, Brian Lopez & Zeb & Ramsy Kennerson and faithful companion, his lap cat Sammie Martin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Martin and his mother-in-law, Earline Delano.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Elder Truman Keel and Elder J.R. Haymon will officiate. Interment will follow at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Sandra Cooley Ogle, 65, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a five year battle with leukemia and lymphoma. Sandra was a member of Westview Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 42 years, Clarence Ogle of DeRidder, Louisiana; sons, John Ogle and wife Brandi of Rosepine, Louisiana and Justin Ogle of DeRidder, Louisiana; daughters, Julie Ogle Warren and husband Darren of Starks, Louisiana and JoAnna Ogle Fabian and husband Dubba of DeRidder, Louisiana and sister, Diane Cooley Cooper of Humble, Texas. Sandra is survived by five grandchildren, Hunter Fabian, Shelby Warren, Tanner Ogle, Kobe Fabian and Mackenzie Ogle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Elsie Cooley.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at 2:00pm also at Myer-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Newlin cemetery in Singer, Louisiana. Rev. James Byrd will officiate.

Mrs. Christine (Tina) Evon Berwick Thompson, 62, of Starks, Louisiana passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Port Arthur, Texas, raised in Fields, Louisiana and lived most of her life in Starks. Mrs. Thompson will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family.She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 40 years, James O. Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Renea Thompson; mother, Dorothy Williams; sisters, Sandra Teeter, Kathy Hammett, Sharon Kay Williams, and Debi Norgaard; brother, Roger Dale Williams and twenty nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Berwick and step-father, Jimmy Williams.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Gambrell Baptist Church in Starks, Louisiana. Shirley Bernadine Hedger, 83, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Thursday, February 16, 2012.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Ada Mae Smith and husband Charles Leo Smith of DeRidder, Louisiana and Sherlie Eugeneia Owens of Bruner, Missouri; sisters, Faye Black, Audrey LaRoche, Cleone Tucker and Thelma Logan. She is survived by nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by husband, Sherlie Eugene Hedger; daughter, Ginger Lee Hedger; grandchildren, Pauline Louise LaBrie and Eugene Leo Smith and sister, Leone Baxter and “only son, Blackie, the dog”.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00pm also at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Brother Bennie Keel will officiate. Clifford Seborn Cooley, born May 7, 1926 in DeRidder, Louisiana passed away on February 14, 2012 with loved ones at his bedside.
At the age of 85, Mr. Cooley leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Rummel Cooley of DeRidder; three daughters, Janis Jones & husband Rodney Granberry of DeRidder, Joan Jackson & husband Keven of Rosepine and Leatrice Menasco & husband Jim of DeRidder; two sons, Alan Cooley & wife Evelyn of DeRidder and Timothy Cooley & wife Tammy also of DeRidder. He is also survived by three brothers, Bennie “Monk” Cooley, James “Tom” Cooley and Glen “Pete” Cooley; 14 grandchildren, Cindy Shaver, Lisa Hebert, Darrell W. Cooley, Jeffery Cooley, Stacie McLendon, Keven D. Jackson, John Earl Jackson, Clifford W. Jackson, Steven L. Cooley, Dusty J. Cooley, Cheyanna D. Doyle, Carl Menasco, Chris Menasco and Chasity Guillory; 28 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his parents Oliver Seborn and Allie Fair Ross Cooley; sisters, Velma Wilson and Alice Orton; brothers, Robert Cooley and Earl Cooley; one son-in-law, John Jones and an infant great grandson, Steven Michael Cooley.
He provided for his family in so many ways. He retired from cutting logs and pulpwood for many years with Gray Logging. He loved raising livestock, farming, hunting and fishing. He processed his own meats and harvested his own vegetables. Grafting trees and being a beekeeper were also things that kept him busy before and after retirement.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Gary Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Whitaker cemetery in DeRidder.
