Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, William Burchard of Merryville, LA; son, Shelton Matthis Jr. and wife Mary of Merryville, LA; stepson, William Burchard II and wife Julia of Nevada, TX; daughter, Tammye Gamez and Jerrell Wallis of Shepherd, TX; brothers; MJ Broxson of Moss Point, MS and Jesse Broxson and wife of TX; sister, Ocie Keener of Merryville, LA; grandchildren, Crystal Galvan and husband Theo of Navasota, TX, Chancly Gamez and fiancé Jacob Rassau of Saxonburg, PA, and Casey Gamez of Shepherd, TX; great grandchildren, Tyler Baldridge and Maverick Galvan. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until time of service at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Cooper cemetery, DeRidder, LA. Eugene Morrison will officiate.

Jimmy Weeks
December 18, 1940 - September 19, 2014
Jimmy Weeks, 73, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, September 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the owner of Weeks Construction and was married to Myrtle Jarrell Weeks for 50 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Myrtle Weeks of DeRidder, LA; son, James Weeks and wife Cheryl of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Sherrie Stephens and husband Bobby of DeRidder, LA, Sheila Weeks Stracner of Calhoun, LA, and Kristy Weeks of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Dillon Johnson, Emilee Stracner, Nicole Stracner, Lana Weeks, and Marla Weeks; and great grandchild, Lyndsey Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Word Weeks and Mary Modena Weeks.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 from 11:00am until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service is Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder. Bro. Tom Stucke will officiate.

Donations may be made in Jimmy Weeks name to the American Cancer Society.

Danita Royer
January 26, 1940 - September 19, 2014
Danita Royer, 74, of DeQuincy , LA, passed from this life on Friday, September 19, 2014. Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Hollie H. Royer and wife Lou, and Calvin T. Royer and wife Anna, all of DeQuincy, LA; sister, Delores Willis of DeQuincy, LA; half-brother, John Royer and wife Barbara of Moss Bluff, LA; half-sister, Ezora Calloway of Lake Charles, LA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eunice Royer; sister, Betty Jewel Royer.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm at First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Funeral services are Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00am at First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Burial will follow at Perkins cemetery, DeQuincy, LA. Rev. Carlton Jackson and Rev. T.D. Cardwell will officiate.

JW Warden
January 18, 1935 - September 18, 2014
JW Warden, 79, of DeRidder, La, passed from this life on Thursday, September 18, 2014.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Ricky Warden of Leon Springs, TX; daughters, Nancy Dean and husband Ken of Natalia, TX, and Geneva Hagedorn and husband William of Jourdanton, TX; brother, Milton Warden and wife Myrtle of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Betty Brister and husband Garland, and Mary Frances Carroll and husband Donald all of DeRidder, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Willie Warden; daughter, Janelle Warden; and son, Jackie Warden.
Visitation and Funeral services will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will begin at 10:00am until time of service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Newlin cemetery, Singer, LA.

Kathleen Deason
August 5, 1973 - September 15, 2014
Kathleen Michelle Deason, 41, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, September, 15, 2014 at her home. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Timothy Deason of DeRidder, LA; sons, Matthew Sones and Christopher Terry Moree, both of Kansas; daughter, Isabelle Moree of DeRidder, LA; stepchildren, Dylan, Payton, Skylar and Trenton Deason, all of DeRidder, LA; mother, Karen Lott of Alabama; father, Richard Sones and wife Loretta of Purvis, Mississippi; brothers, Jason Lott of Alabama, Matthew Chance Sones and Nate Sones of Mississippi; sister, Kayla Carmichael of Alabama; grandchildren, Brennan, Madeline, and Sadie. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jack Sones.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Rev. James Byrd will officiate.

Dorothy Jones Barr
August 23, 1939 - September 12, 2014

Dorothy Barr, 75, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, September 12, 2014. Mrs. Barr was a native of Rosepine where she was born and raised, and later lived most of her life in DeRidder. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder and office manager for Union Local 207.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, David Barr of Gonzales, LA, James M. Barr of Lake Charles, LA, and Don Barr and wife Carey of Ragley, LA; daughter, Darlyne Barr of Zachary, LA; brothers, Jim Jones and wife Grace of Rosepine, LA, Woodroe Jones of DeRidder, LA, and Donald Jones and wife Connie of DeRidder, LA; 9 grandchildren, Charlie Verrett, Samantha Barr, Rylea Ducote, NicholasBarr, Phylan Barr, Chad Barr, Blayk Reily, Tyler Reily, and Whitney Choat; and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Barr, parents, Charlie & Lillie Jones, grandson, Michael E. Barr, brothers, LeRoy, Eugene, and John H. Jones, sisters, Wanda Matte, Verlie Watson, Vergie Stafford.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 3:00-9:00 PM at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA and again on Monday, September 15, 2014 from 8:00 AM until time of service at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Bro. George L. Glass, Jr. and Bro. George Lee Glass will officiate. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder.

Carrie Jeane
January 6, 1980 - September 10, 2014
Carrie Jeane, 34, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in New Orleans, LA. Those left to cherish her memory are her father, Wayne Franklin; son, Christopher Mayes, Jr.; daughter, Caitlen Jeane; brother, John Franklin; sisters, Margaret Terrell and Cinda Austin and husband Timothy, all of DeRidder, LA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Franklin.

Dwayne Washington
July 25, 1949 - September 2, 2014
Dwayne Douglas Washington, Sr., 65, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this world to God’s heavenly one on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He was the beloved father of two children, daughter, Goldie Washington Ramsay of Marietta, GA; and son, Dwayne Douglas Washington, Jr. and wife Chantel Washington of West Palm Beach, Fl; five grandchildren, Dwayne Douglas Washington III, Jalen-Claude Russel Washington, Malachi Tyrone Washington, London Woodly Ramsay, and Egypt Alexandria Ramsay. He is also survived by his sisters, Olivia Washington Breland and her husband W.L. Breland of DeRidder, LA, and Demetrial T. Washington of DeRidder, LA, brothers, Ollie Washington, Jr. and wife, Buddy Washington of Augusta, GA, and Willie A. Washington of DeRidder, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Washington, Sr. and Eria Griffith Washington; brothers, Tommie E. Washington and Travis Washington; and sister-in-law, Debra Washington. Because Dwayne was a lover of family, he will also be missed by his cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him. Dwayne’s great loves were many, but he especially loved communing with nature by way of fishing. His infectious smile and contagious laughter will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family appreciates all thought and prayers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Norris Temple Church of God in Christ with Funeral services to proceed at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Patty Sue Spikes
Octobert 7, 1931 - September 2, 2014
Batesburg, SC. Patty Sue Spikes, wife of the late Roy E Spikes, died at Newberry County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, after a brief illness.

She was born on October 7, 1931 in Lindale, Georgia but lived in the Bancroft, LA area for over 30 years. She spent her last 6 years in Batesburg, SC.

Survivors include three sons, Rex A. Spikes of Houston, TX, Frank E. Spikes of Batesburg, SC and Robert E, Spikes of Upland, CA.; two brothers, Harold Craton of Lawrenceville, GA and Carl "Larry" Craton of St. Petersburg, FL.; and loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; two sisters, Natalia Teal and Barbara Louise Craton; and two brothers, Charles and Tom "Crocker" Craton.

Patty lit up the lives of everyone around her. She was much loved and will be sorely missed by all.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Bancroft, LA. Burial will follow in Spikes cemetery, also in Bancroft. Brother Jerry Hext and the Reverend Guy Snyder will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Still Waters Baptist Church, 374 Delmar Rd., Leesville, SC 29070 or Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 125 Brushy Creek Church Road, Bancroft, LA 70653.

James Byron McCain
August 11, 1932 - September 1, 2014

James Byron McCain, 82, passed away peacefully Sept 1, 2014 following a long and heartbreaking battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral service will be held at 4 PM, September 6th at First Baptist Church, DeRidder, Louisiana with Rev. Steve Thomas and Rev. Lindsey Burns officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM Friday Sept 5th at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home, DeRidder, Louisiana. Burial will be in the Rosepine cemetery under direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

Byron was born August 11, 1932 in Rosepine, Louisiana to Earl and Bertha McCain. Byron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenita, and his beloved sons: Gerald McCain and wife, Lisa of DeRidder, James McCain and wife, Mandy of North Richland Hills, TX; and 4 grandchildren, Brandon McCain, Ryan McCain, Katy Frazier and James Patrick Frazier.

He attended Northwestern State University in 1954. Upon graduation from NSU he served his country in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot. Upon completion of his service in the USAF, he began his career in Education teaching Music and Math at Rosepine High School. In addition to teaching, he served as Guidance Counselor for 16 years and Principal for 14 years.

Byron's dedication to his Lord and Savior led him to serve as the Music Director at Rosepine First Baptist Church for almost 50 years. He also served as a deacon and was a member of Gideons International for many years.

He served on the Board of Directors for the Vernon Parish Library. He was a past president of the Vernon Parish Retired Teachers Association. He served nine years as a member on the Board of Trustees of West Louisiana Health Services. He was a past member of the Executive Committee of Louisiana Principals Association. He had served as vice president on the Board of Trustees for Beauregard Memorial Hospital from 1990-1993. He had been on the Board of Directors for the Beauregard Christian Women's Job Corps. He was a former member of the Joy Singers, First Baptist Church DeRidder.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests remembrances be made in Byron's name to DeRidder First Baptist Church, 2030 Hwy 171, DeRidder, LA 70634, or the Gideons International, P. O. Box 1014, DeRidder, LA 70634.

His family wishes to acknowledge the loving and dedicated care he received from the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.
