Delorise Armstrong Jones
Delorise Armstrong- Jones 88, transitioned to her heavenly home on February 3, 2018 at Tuscany Skilled Nursing Facility/ Rehabilitation Facility in Pearland, Texas, after a lengthy and courageous battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Delorise was born to the late Emmit and Mahalia Armstrong, in DeRidder. LA on November 25, 1929. She was the seventh of eighth siblings. Seven preceded her in death: Frankie Shelby, Arcell B. Armstrong, Ulysses Carlton Armstrong, Tanner Renfro, Curlie Stewart, Jimmie McGlothen and Emmit Armstrong Jr.
Delorise married
her high school sweetheart, John H. Jones on June 6, 1947. To this union four children were born. Trennis, Carlos, Kathy and John.
At an early age, she professed her life to her Lord and Savior at Sweet Home Baptist in DeRidder, LA. Under the leadership of several pastors, she was the church secretary for 28 years and served as Mission President for 18 years. She was named Emeritus President of the Senior mission after her health began to decline.
When her life began to decline, she wanted to remain independent and moved to Oyster Creek Assisted Living Facility in Missouri City, Texas in 2016. She continued to attend bible study and church services with her son Carlos and family.
Delorise worked as a School food Service Technician at DeRidder Junior High for 20 years until she retired. She took pride in her cooking and enjoyed her co-workers as well as the students and faculty. She was very active in the community. She was always trying to motivate others on her street to help keep Bishop Street nice and neat. Her yard was always filled with beautiful flowers. She volunteered at Nursing homes, God’s food box and was a long-time den mother for many of the young men in her community. Most importantly, she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Her passion and joy was traveling and dressing up. The most important thing other than her children was her “lipstick”. She always told her family “if she got sick, wash her feet and put on her lipstick”. Everything else could wait. She was a joy to her family and friend and will be missed tremendously by all. As she lay in bed fighting her battle, she found words to encourage her children, grandchildren and nieces.

Eleven grandchildren: Tamara Jones, Houston, Texas, Byron (Keyna) Nash, Lake Charles, LA, Shadrick (Bridget) Nash, DeRidder, LA, Corey (Karitta) Nash, Lake Charles, a very special and loving grandson, Trea` Trapp, Houston, Texas, Carla (Chris) Adams, Houston, Texas, Carlos (Sparkle) Jones, Rosharon, Texas, Jourdan (Lexi) Jones, Brooklyn, NY, Trennis ( Amy) Jones, Austin, TX, John Vincent Jones, Reno, Nevada, Jillian Jones, Baton Rouge, LA, Sister in laws: Delores Black Armstrong, Houston, Texas and Claudette Armstrong, Los Angeles, CA, A very special and loving niece, Evetta Armstrong, Houston, Texas, Special friend of 60 years, Thelma Bryant Jennings, DeRidder, LA and a great friend Lou T. Smith. A host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Kenneth Seastrunk will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bryon A. Nash, Jourdan A. Jones, Shadrick L. Nash, Corey D. Nash, Trennis L. Jones, John V. Jones and Carlos C. Jones, II, Honorary Pallbearers will be Trennis L. Jones, Carlos C. Jones, Sr., John H. Jones, Jr., Jacob Bruner, Jr., Trea` Trapp, Arthur Stewart, Jr., Ed L. Stewart, Sr., Bennie R. Shelby and Charles E. Shelby. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
Takeshia Rena Hall
Takeshia Rena Hall, 42, of Lake Charles, LA, passed from this life on February 1, 2018.
Takeshia Rena Hall was born September 28, 1975 to Larry Ashworth (Patricia)- (DeRidder, LA) and the late Melonie Ann Hall Jackson (Leroy Jackson, Jr.)-(DeRidder, LA). She graduated from DeRidder High School, Class of 1993. She was employed by Popeyes Chicken in DeRidder for many years. She joined the Navy and served her country for six years and received an honorable discharge. She came back to DeRidder and became a mother of two beautiful daughters who she loved and cherished most dearly-Melonie Regina Piper & Daisha Neycole Piper. She was an awesome, loving, and caring mother. She mainly devoted her time to her children, family, & Sowella Technical College where she was attending until her death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her beautiful daughters, Melonie R. Piper and Daisha N. Visitation and funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Mary Church of God in Christ in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Scott cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
Cheryl Anne Bryant
Cheryl Anne Bryant, 59, of Anacoco, LA, passed from this life on Friday, February, 2, 2018.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ed Bryant of Anacoco, LA; son, Edward (Cotton) Leon Bryant and wife Summer of Anacoco, LA; sister, Karen Morrison and husband Randy of Leesville, LA. She also had four grandchildren, Collin, Emileigh, Malissie, Lillian and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Jacob and Paul Bryant; parents, Leon and Gloria Haymon Faircloth; sister, Rhonda Faircloth; brother, Michael Faircloth; paternal grandparents, Author and Rena Faircloth and maternal grandparents, Herman and Mary Haymon.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM – till, at Beech Grove Methodist Church, Anacoco, LA. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 5, 2018 also at Beech Grove Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Beech Grove cemetery, Ananaco, LA.
Robin Renee Terwey Rhodes
Robin Renee Terwey Rhodes went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, February 1, 2018, after waging a 4-year-long battle with cancer.
She was born during Hurricane Cindy on September 17, 1963, in Orange, TX. Robin lived most of her life in DeRidder, attending DeRidder schools, graduating in 1982.
Robin attended Northwestern State and Louisiana Technical College, Lamar Salter Campus receiving an associate certificate in Office Systems Technology.
During her younger years, Robin participated in gymnastics, Melanie Martin’s School of Dance, National Piano Playing Auditions, high school track, Westview Baptist vacation Bible schools and youth choir, and many Camp Pearl youth Bible conferences.
Robin had a remarkable memory for facts and figures. She demonstrated and proved her steadfast loyalty and trustworthiness to her employers, Mrs. Willie Mae Malone and Richard Strahan, Nifty-Fifties convenience stores.
Robin is survived by daughter, Melody Seal of Anacoco, sons. Cody Rhodes (Alyssa) of Singer, and Logan Brice of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; grandchildren Caden and Caleb Strange, Bradley Seal, Carson and Viola Rhodes, one sister, Marian (Warren) Dugger of DeRidder, one brother, Rex Brumley, Jr. of Ocean View, Hawaii, mother Juanita Brumley of DeRidder, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Robin was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Lee Terwey, the man she called “Daddy”, Rex G. Brumley, Sr., grandparents, Jay and Corine Miller, Peter and Anka Terwey, and brother, Robert Brumley.
Special thanks are expressed to Moss Regional staff and medical personnel, Drs. Bergeron and Broussard, NP Amy Allen, Dr. Ben Thompson, Dr. Maze, Beauregard Memorial Hospital personnel, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and Home Health and Heart of Hospice for the excellent care and concern they exhibited. We appreciate the many prayers for Robin’s healing.
Robin attended Grace Church and considered Grace her church.
Visitation and funeral service will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 11:00AM – 2:00PM until the time of service at 2:00PM at Grace Church with Rev. George Lee Glass officiating. Burial will follow at the Beauregard cemetery.
Brenda Joyce Flowers Keel
Brenda Joyce Flowers Keel, 63, of Denham Springs, LA passed from this life on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Old Cypress cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Brother Allen Shird will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Buddy Keel; son, Charles Long; father; Earl Flowers and sister, Denise Smith.
Sister Marie Asch
Sister Marie Asch, 105, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on March 24, 2018.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Nalley of DeRidder, LA; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and fourteen great – great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Elmer and Mary Etta Roller; son, Gary Ramsey; brother; Charles Roller and sisters, Ruth Causey and Edna McIntyre.
Wilma "Toot" Duhon Granger
Funeral services for Wilma “Toot” Duhon Granger, 92, will be held at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA. The Reverend Jude Brunette will officiate. Burial will be in Beauregard cemetery under the Direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA. Visitation will take place at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 7:00 PM.
Mrs. Granger passed away on Saturday, March 24, in her residence. She was a native of Hackberry and lived in DeRidder for nearly 70 years. Mrs. Granger was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, serving as a long-time member of the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was an Auxiliary Volunteer at Beauregard Memorial Hospital for many years. Mrs. Granger will be remembered by her family as a kind, helpful, loving and faith-filled mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Survivors include five sons, David Granger (Connie) of DeRidder, Johnny Granger (Diane) of DeRidder, Tommy Granger of Beaumont, Texas; Kenny Granger (Dorothy) of Zachary, Mark Granger (Angie) of Hackberry and one daughter, Mary Bass (Mike) of Rosepine. Sister, Margie Ford of Lake Charles and Sister-in-law, Arlene Duhon of Hackberry. Mrs. Granger is survived by 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, O.M. “Buster” Granger: sister, Sybil James: brother, Austin “ Bud” Duhon and parents: Lucy Jackson Duhon and Lee Duhon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder.
Shirley Ann Martin
Shirley Ann Craft Martin, 75, originally of Merryville, LA, passed away in Westwood Manor on March 21, 2018.
Shirley was born in Merryville, LA, October 28, 1942 to Giles and Selma Craft. She attended Merryville school until the 7th grade. Then, the family moved to DeRidder in 1955. She then graduated from DeRidder High School.
Shirley worked for several years at Fort Polk and also for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. She was a member of the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church of the Junction Community.
Shirley is survived by her son, Anthony Martin and wife Colleen, Carolyn Davis and Brenda Harper.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Martin, son – Shawn Martin and her parents: Giles and Selma Craft.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 5:00-7:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:00AM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, LA.
