Dorothy Gibson

September 11, 1931 - April 30, 2016

Dorothy Arlene Ford Gibson, 84, of DeRidder, LA, departed this life on April 30, 2016. She was the mother of seven children. She was an active church member and musician for many years. Ms. Ford is survived by three daughters, Mable, Sharon, and Margenette all of DeRidder; two sons, Clifford (Jeanie) of DeRidder, and Gary (Terrie) of Pickering, LA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held at Norris Memorial COGIC on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Pinegrove cemetery, Hawthorne, LA.

Ruth Moreau Clanton

August 12, 1935 - April 28, 2016

Ruth Arlene Baham Moreau Clanton, 80 years old, passed away April 28, 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral service will be Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Burial to follow at Rosepine cemetery in Rosepine, LA.

Ruth was born in Calcasieu Community on August 12, 1935 to Madeline Cloud and Monroe Baham. She attended Oakdale High School and graduated in 1953. She worked as a personnel manager at Fort Polk and in Bremerhaven and Wurzburg, Germany. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, reading her bible and singing in the choir.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husbands, James Moreau (1990) and George Clanton (2011), 4 brothers, Roy, Floyd, Willie, and Chester, and 2 sisters, Gladys and Ruby. Ruth is survived by her sister, Retha Mills of Bastrop; children, Bridget Player (Mike) of Folly Beach, SC, Keaven (Brigitte) of Huntsville, Al, Garth (Katie) of Pine Island FL; stepson, Jerry Clanton (Judy) of Katy, Texas, 6 grandchildren, Alex Player (Erin) of Cincinnati, OH, Katherine Player of Fairbanks, AL, Makenzie Moreau and Madison Moreau of Huntsville, AL, and Anna Moreau and Lily Moreau of Pine Island, FL; 4 step grandchildren, Stephen (Allison) Clanton of Denver, CO, Robert (Wendy) Clanton of Humble, TX, JeriLynn (Bryan) Phillips of Honolulu, HI, Joe Clanton of Katy, TX, and 8 step great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to National Healthcare Center of Charleston and CARIS Hospice of Charleston.

Donald Troutman

September 24, 1938 - April 29, 2016

Donald Troutman, 77, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, April 29, 2016 in Lake Charles. Don was an amazing athlete. At the age of 16, he was invited to the Olympic trials. He earned All American honors in basketball, and track and field at Roanoke High School. Don was inducted into the McNeese Hall of Fame in 2002.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki Troutman of DeRidder, LA; children, ; LaDonna Cagnon of Huntsville, TX, Tanya Henry and husband Richard of Highland Village, TX, and Brenda Nichols of Huntsville, TX; Daniel Ewell and wife Sita of Manassas, VA, Melissa Baesler and husband Jason of DeRidder, LA, Tara Hairr and husband Greg of Carlyss, LA; brothers, Leonard Troutman and wife Martha of Roanoke, LA, Harold Troutman of Lumberton, TX, David Troutman and wife Annette of Welch, LA, and Carl Troutman of Roanoke, LA; sisters, Francis McCarty and husband Edward of Houma, LA, and Mary Kay Epperly and husband James of Laplace, LA; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Irma of Troutman.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 1:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Hinson cemetery in Knight Community, LA. Rev. Fred Hartzel will officiate.

James "Jamie" Aswell

September 10, 1970 - April 28, 2016

James Block “Jamie” Aswell, 45, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Jamie enjoyed fishing and golfing with his son.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Angela Aswell; son, Jayden Aswell both of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Wanda Smith and Cathy Aswell, both of Ferriday, LA; niece, Brandy Hawley and husband Eric of Ferriday, LA; great nieces, Skylar, Makenzy, and Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Catherine Aswell; nephew and best friend, Eric Smith.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10:00am at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder.

Charles Montgomery
July 13, 1937 - April 25, 2016
Charles Thomas Montgomery, 78, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, April 25, 2016. Charles was a graduate of Henderson State University and McNeese State University and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. Charles was a football coach and teacher at Prescott High School in Prescott, AR from 1965-1972. He then coached and taught at DeRidder High School from 1973-1981.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Montgomery; daughters, Tamela "Tammy" Hanchey and husband David, Susan Day and husband Ricky, and Charlotte"Charli" Hebert and husband David; son, Charles P. "Chuck" Montgomery and wife Courtney, all of DeRidder; brother, Jackie Montgomery and wife Margie of N Little Rock, AR; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Montgomery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder and Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in DeRidder. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery. Rev. Josh Eubanks, Rev. Lindsey Burns, and Rev. George Lee Glass will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimers Foundation.

Jeffery Goins

July 19, 1965 - April 23, 2016

Jeffery Dennis Goins, 50, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bonnie Goins; children, Blaze Goins (Ashley) of Sulphur, LA, Becky Gotte (David) of Jennings, LA, Lance Goins (Ashley) of Rincon, GA, and Dylan Goins (Conner) of Rincon, GA; parents, A.D. “George” and Deanna Goins of DeRidder, LA; sister, Sherry Tilley (Jerry) of DeRidder; brother, Thomas Goins (Caroline) of Mansfield, LA; and 9 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2:00pm at Roberts Cove Church of Christ in Crowley, LA. Rev. Jimmy Broussard will officiate.

Carolyn Scroggins
March 24, 1949 - March 16, 2016
Carolyn Louise Scroggins, 66, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at her home.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Corky Lawson and wife Kaye of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Tammy Wilson and husband Pete of DeRidder, LA; mother, Helen Scroggins of Woodville, TX; brother, Charles Scroggins and wife Pat of Woodville, TX; sisters, Norvelle Rogers, Jean Bumstead and husband Billy, and Tommie Sue Jones and husband David all of Woodville, TX; father of her children and friend, Ray Lawson of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Cody, Blake, Kodee, KayCee, Alissa, Aliya, and Trace; and 3 great grandchildren, Abby, Kenzie, and Maddy. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayvard Scroggins; brothers-in-law, Jesse Rogers, and Bud Jones.

A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 2:00pm at Campground Baptist Church in Woodville, TX.

Lillie Lofton
July 6, 1929 - March 15, 2016
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6

Lillie Bell Spikes Lofton was born to the union of Campbell and Allie Spikes of Bancroft, Louisiana on July 6, 1929. She united with the Friendship Baptist Church of Bancroft at an early age where she sung her first solo at age seven. She served as church secretary of the Friendship Baptist Church until she married Robert Louis Lofton Sr. on July 11, 1947 and moved to DeRidder, Louisiana. To this blessed union of 43 years were added five children. At the age of 19, Lillie Bell joined the Sweet Home Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Youth Teacher, Senior Mission President, Senior Choir Member, Ministers’ Wives President of the New Light District Association, member of the Isaac and Rebecca Lodge of DeRidder; she was currently serving as President of the Deaconess Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Campbell Spikes and Allie Spikes Bettis, her husband Rev. Robert Lofton Sr., and 2 grandchildren, Melvin Everette, Jr. and Joy Lofton; 1 sister, Ludy Bruner, and brothers, Ford Spikes and C. A. Spikes. She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 daughters; Brenda (John) Wesley of Leesville, LA, Janice Everett of DeRidder, LA, and Shelda (Matthew) Kelso of Crowley, LA; 2 sons, Robert (Mattie) Lofton Jr. of Humble, TX and Michael Lofton of Houston, TX; 6 grandchildren; Amelia (Abbott) Tellis, Marcus Wesley, Shameika (Byron) Crosley, Charley Hitchens IV, Crystal Lofton, and Robert Lofton III; 5 great grandchildren, Diovanna, NiKayla, Jordan, DeAnna and Jaxon; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation and Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder. Rev. Freddy Thomas will officiate.

Fred Conerly
July 20, 1936 - March 11, 2016
Fred Lucius Conerly “Bear”, was born July 20, 1936 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to the union of Lucius and Exie B. Conely. The family later moved to Leesville, Louisiana where he attended school. In the late 1950’s, Fred moved to DeRidder, Louisiana where he worked for a short time as a pulp wood hauler.

Fred was later employed at Fort Polk where he worked for over 20 years at the Officer’s club and later as a short order cook at the NCO Club. When he retired from Fort Polk, he owned and operated Fred’s Carry Out until his health failed. Fred’s last few years were spent at Rosepine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Rosepine, Louisiana.

Fred leaves to cherish his memory, a longtime friend who was as much like a son, Ralph McMahon (Anise) and family of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; cousins, Lavern Turner (Aaron) of Houston, Texas, Eunice Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; a step father, L.C. Mitchell and Cleo McMahon with whom he lived for many years.

Visitation and Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will begin at 11:00am until time of funeral service at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder. Rev. David Iles will officiate.

Larry Gamble
October 15, 1950 - March 29, 2016
Larry Wayne Gamble, 65, of Iowa, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Houston, TX. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Gamble, their children ,La Rhon and Lo Rhel all of Iowa, LA, Angela Lemon, Anthony Lemon, and Larry Wayne Gamble Jr., first wife, Minnie Gamble all of South Carolina; Lee Vester McClendon of DeRidder, LA, Ronnie McClendon and wife Mary of Chesapeake, VA, Gregory McClendon of DeRidder, LA, Theron McClendon of DeRidder, LA, James McClendon of DeRidder, LA, Charlene Johnson and husband Eric of Houston, TX, and Karol McClendon of Houston, TX; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille McClendon.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Community cemetery in DeRidder. Rev. Daniel Stafford will officiate.

Allen Blady
January 17, 1951 - March 31, 2016

Allen Blady, 65, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his home.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gertrud Blady of Rosepine; sons, Gavin Blady and wife Amber of Rosepine, and Justin Blady and wife Pepper of Ponchatula, LA; daughters, Sabine Broussard and husband Steve of Little Rock, AR; parents, Jefferson Davis and Rosalie Blady; brothers, Nick Blady and wife Cathy of Mandeville, LA, Howard Blady and wife Mary of Metairie, LA, Jeffrey Blady and wife Jane of Covington, LA, and Darren Blady and wife Donna of Kenner, LA; sisters, Rose Voltolina, and Roxanne Rose and husband Stephen; grandchildren, Abigail Blady, Nathan Blady, Lucas Blady, Donald Broussard, Tobey Broussard, and Robin Blady.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Kern Hall, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA. Rosary will be at 6:00pm. Funeral service is Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Donations may be made to the National Kidney Fund.
