Jackie Eaves Williamson

Jackie Eaves Williamson, 88, of DeRidder, La, passed from this life on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Merryville, LA, on November 27, 1928 to Wm. Britton and Nannie C. Eaves. Jackie graduated from Merryville High School, Class of 1946. She married
Norris O. Williamson on September 11, 1947, and they were married
for over 45 years.
Jackie worked for many years in the Civil Service Industry at Fort Polk, before her retirement. She went on to work for the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Department where she would also later retire.
Jackie was deeply involved in the Cannon cemetery Association, where she was elected to the office of Secretary/Treasurer. She worked tirelessly for over 30 years, until her death, and was instrumental in making Cannon cemetery one of the most beautiful and well-kept cemeteries in the area.
Jackie never stopped going – She stayed busy and worked hard her whole life. Even after Norris passed away in 1994, she continued living a vigorous and active life. She was well-known for her delicious cooking and everyone enjoyed her Christmas candy that she handed out to friends each year.
She is survived by one son, N.R. “Rusty” Williamson of Merryville, a granddaughter, Lisa Williamson Branch and husband Doug of Almadane, and a grandson, Joseph Williamson of Lake Charles. Also, three great-grandchildren, Christian Cervera and Victoria Rain Cervera of Lake Charles and Paris Newman of Almadane. Her brother, Henry Eaves of Moss Bluff and three sisters: Lora Evelyn Peavy of Little Rock, AR, Willie Bea Moses of DeRidder, LA and Linda Eaves Willis of Merryville, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris, parents Wm. Britton and Nannie C. Eaves, a granddaughter, Victoria Anne Williamson, daughter-in-law Sissy Williamson, her brother James R. “Bob” Eaves and two sisters: Vivian G. Eaves and Melba Baldridge
Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 form 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. The funeral will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, LA. Brother Duryl Davis will officiate.
Elton Pickering
Elton Pickering was born December 27, 1942 to Raymond (Doc) and Eloise (Bo) Pickering at their home in Fields, LA. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2017.
He served as Parish Manager for the Beauregard Parish Police Jury for over 30 years. During this time he served on the Board of Directors for 911 at its inception helping to map and name roads. He also served on the Board for the Beauregard Airport. He also served as Civil Defense Director, Flood Plain Manager and was a member of the National Association of County Engineers. He worked with DOTD in the Off System Bridge Program, was a member of American Public Works Association and the Continuing Professional Development Program. He was an avid supporter of the JTPA for many years. He received several commendations for Outstanding Service. He was on the Executive Board of Louisiana Police Jury Association. Served two (2) terms as President of the Louisiana Parish Engineers and Supervisors Association. He was listed in Americas’ Registry for Outstanding Professionals. He loved his job and trying to improve the roads in his parish. He worked for their proper recognition in all forms of government. He was concerned about the people and wanted to help in any way he could. But the biggest goal and passion in his life was to tell people about Jesus. Many times people would come to his office and pour out their troubles and he would tell them of the never ending love of Jesus and pray for them. He led many to the Lord. Elton was ready to be with his Jesus. The pain had become so bad and he was so tired. He never doubted that God would heal him. He always told people that God WOULD heal you either on earth or in Heaven. All you had to do was to believe in God. He was an active member at Mystic Baptist Church for many years. Giving and Laboring to keep up the Lord’s House.
He left to cherish his memory his wife and soulmate Kathy, and their daughter Kirsten. Two sons: Elton Jr. (Pete) and wife Darla of Merryville, LA; Steven (Cotton) and wife Deidy of Fields, LA. Three grandchildren: Micah and Aiden Pickering of Merryville, LA and Tristan Pickering of Fields, LA. His siblings: Rayburn and wife Nancy of Jasper, TX; Lee and wife Linda of Lake Charles, LA; Patricia Gore of Singer, LA; Diane Clifton of Singer, LA; Mary and Sam Pierce of DeQuincy, LA. Step-sons, Don Hollingsworth and Dreama of DeRidder, LA and Jorge Hollingsworth of Starks, LA. He loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ross.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 4:00 PM until and the service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM all at Mystic Baptist Church in Fields, LA. Brother Lewis King will officiate. Burial will follow at Hyatt cemetery in Fields, LA.
Kenneth Neal Petrey
Kenneth Neal Petrey, 84, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
Kenneth was retired from the United Stated Army, serving his country during the Korean conflict and was a purple heart recipient. He was also retired from Citco, where he worked as a machinist. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Hannelore Petrey of DeRidder, LA; son, Jack Petrey of Middleburg, FL; daughter-in-law, Marie Petrey of Middleburg, FL; daughters, Sandra Massingill of Texas City, TX and Shonia Jones of DeRidder, LA; sister, Virginia Bundy of Corbin, KY; grandchildren, Mistle Petrey, Savanna Petrey, Zachary Petrey, Shai Williamson; and a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Arlie and Margarette Petrey; brothers, James and Jack Petrey; sisters, Ardis Petrey and Andean Smith.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, November 20, 2017, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Whitaker cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
Shirley Raye Thompson
Shirley Raye Mitchell Thompson, 78, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.
She was a member for 45 years with the Ladies Auxiliary to the V.F.W.; 3802 Post of DeQuincy, LA and 9711 Post of Merryville, LA. She occupied offices as Guard to President and of Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign War. She was a hospital chairman and a Voice of Democracy. She was a member of the Merryville cemetery Association and was affiliated with the Baptist Church of BonWier, TX as well as the First Baptist Church of Merryville.
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Richard Thompson & Sharon of Jasper, TX; daughter, Lisa Renee` Bradford & Hirl of Newton, TX; sister, Anna Faye Hryhorchuk of Carthage, TX; daughter-in-law, Mary Thompson; special friend, Billy Pharris; grandchildren, Tracy Butters, Lawain Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Jason Thompson, Kimberly Bingham, Cassie Jenkins, Cagney Coody; 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Troy Thompson; son, Charles Troy Thompson; parents, Ira & Thursie Mitchell; brothers, Henry Franks and AB (Jack) Mitchell; sister, Myrece Davis.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2017 also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Brother Guy Snyder. Burial will follow at Merryville cemetery in Merryville, LA.
Alice Braneff Linscomb
Alice Braneff Linscomb, 61, of Starks, LA, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
She enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was very active in her church, acting as a lady’s leader in Church. She was active as well in her community, serving as treasurer of the Starks Garden Club and a member of the Starks Historical Society. She enjoyed her work as the children’s librarian at Starks Library for many years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Continuing visitation and service will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017, also at Calvary Apostolic Church, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Clark cemetery in Starks, LA.

Elouise Gill Burch, 80, of Leesville, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2017 also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hinson cemetery in Knight Community.

Ada Marie Remedies, 70, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on November 10, 2017.
Ada was an accountant for Price CPA in DeRidder, LA. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. She loved to garden and babied her plants. She was a member of Sugartown Baptist Church.

Bobbie Faye Z. Whiddon
Bobbie Faye Z. Whiddon, of Rosepine, LA, departed this life on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the age of 84.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sammie Joe Marchie & Mike of Merryville, LA, Gwendolyn K. Borel of Rosepine, LA, Terry Jean Alston of DeQuincy, LA; her son, William Dean (Buddy) Whiddon & Tonia of Lufkin, TX; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and greatly cherished friends.
Miss Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Whiddon; her daughter, Carolyn F. Carroll; her son, John Edwin Whiddon and her grandson, Benjamin J. Borel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. A private burial will follow at a later time.

Jeffrey Stephen Paul, 65, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, November, 2, 2017.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Andrew Paul of Merryville, LA and Geoffrey Paul of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Amy Paul of Cocoa Beach, FL; brothers, Brad Paul of West Virginia, Michael Paul of Spokane, WA, and Mark Paul of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Those preceding him in death are his parents Donald and Lois Paul; and his brother, Brian Paul.
