Visitatiom will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA, from 5 - 9 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Dry Creek cemetery in Dry Creek, LA.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Henrietta Pandora Piper

Henrietta Pandora Piper, 62, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Lady Henrietta Pandora Brooks Piper was born June 26, 1954 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Samuel and Mae Willie Brooks Penn. She is the second oldest of four boys and three girls. She received her high school education through the West Virginia school system. She attended West Virginia State University and Coppin State University of Maryland where she received her degrees in Horticulture, Early Childhood Education, and Nursing.

Lady Henrietta Pandora Brooks Piper has left a legacy to be continued by the love of her life of 33 years, Murray Charles Piper; three children, Samuel (Laura), Miracle and Daniel; three granddaughters, Giselle, Morgan, and Mariah; sister, Pelote Brooks of Atlanta ,GA; three brothers, Sam Brooks of Memphis, TN, Monroe Payton of Youngstown, OH, Willie D Brooks of Detroit, MI; in-laws, Cecil (Melody)Piper of Washington, DC, Linda (Morman) Armstrong of Lafayette, LA, Donald (Sheryl)Piper and Ronald (Marier) Piper of Lake Charles, LA, and Patrick Piper of Richmond, IN.; godchildren, Devon Creasey, Erika States, Tremaine Summerville, Rodrick, II and Deloria Durant; Self adopted daughters, Susan Miller and Lynette States; a host of other relatives, church family and friends.

Services will be as follows:

Sunday, April 9, 2017, viewing from noon till 3 Service begins @ 3PM, at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ, 501 East North Street.

Tuesday, April 11, 2017, Memorial Viewing from 6PM to 9PM at Emmanuel Ministries COGIC, Baltimore, MD

Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 3 PM Interment at Meadow Haven Memorial cemetery, Montgomery WV

Dalton Cole Williamson, infant baby, of Leesville, LA, passed from this life on Monday, March 27, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kelly Doxey; his father, Barry Allen Williamson; his brothers, Brylan Choate, Wyatt Williamson, Hunner Williamson; and his sister, Aubry Williamson.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Providence Baptist Church in Leesville, LA. Burial followed at John C. White cemetery also in Leesville.

Kenneth Eugene Whittington

Kenneth Eugene Whittington, 45, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.

Randy Lee Schaffer

Randy Lee Schaffer, 57, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA, and also Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00PM. Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 31 at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Peggy Deason Smith

Peggy Joyce Deason Smith, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away March 21, 2017 in DeRidder, LA.

Peggy was born October 4, 1938 in Pitkin, LA, the eldest daughter of Marcus and Estelle (Maddox) Deason. She spent her girlhood in Pitkin and graduated from Pitkin High School in 1957. She married her childhood sweetheart, Jackie L. Smith of Pitkin that October and the couple was blessed with two daughters, a son, and 53 years of marriage.

Peggy attended the Canal Zone Junior College and graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina. She went on to earn a master’s degree in education from McNeese State University. A dedicated educator, Peggy taught for more than 25 years at DeRidder High School, where she touched the lives of hundreds of students.

Peggy enjoyed many hobbies, including basket weaving, cross stitching and sewing – and never hesitated to share her works with her entire extended family. She was a devout member of First United Methodist Church of DeRidder for almost 40 years.

Throughout her life, Peggy’s real focus was helping those she cared for. Her kindness and generosity of spirit were examples to all and she will be sorely missed. Her memory will be cherished by family and friends too numerous to count.

Peggy is mourned by daughter Phyllis Smith and son-in-law Matthew Root of Temecula, CA; daughter Kimberly Smith and son-in-law Stanley McDonald, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren Andrew and Caroline Root of Temecula, CA, and Samuel, Sarah and Ian McDonald of Shreveport, LA; sister Betty Heurtevant of Sulphur, LA; brother Ronnie Deason of Hackberry, LA; sister-in-law Judy Deason of DeRidder, LA; and sister-in-law Diane Deason of Sulphur, LA.

She is preceded in death by parents Marcus Deason and Estelle (Maddox) Deason Perry; husband Jackie L. Smith; infant son, Jack Walt; and brothers Roger Deason and Bobby Deason.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 9:00am until 10:45am at First United Methodist Church of DeRidder, with the funeral service at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church of DeRidder. Interment will follow at Blue Branch cemetery in Pitkin. Rev. Lamar C. Oliver of First United Methodist Church of DeRidder will officiate.

Max Alton Shaw

Max was born on November 17, 1936 to Garland Calvin Shaw and Veo Viola Smith Shaw in Burkeville, Texas. He moved to Evans, LA with his family in 1952. Max passed away on Friday, March 17th at the age of 80, at his home in Burr Ferry, LA surrounded by his wife and family.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was well-known for his farming of watermelons. He worked for Asbestos Workers Local 112 for 40 years. He loved his savior and witnessed the words of Jesus to everyone he could.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donice Shaw of Burr Ferry; three daughters, Donna Shaw Gabriel & husband Mark of Winter Haven, FL, Debbie Lynn Shaw of Leesville, LA and Diana Shaw Connally & husband Kevin of Evans, LA; grandchildren, Jason Alton Riley & wife Jamie, Rebecca Riley Craft & husband Bradley, Ryan Evans Christman, Bethany Fox Theriot & husband Troy, Brittany Fox Gleason & husband Shane and Kirstin Nicole Connally; great-grandchildren, Logan Craft, Isabella Craft, Libby Craft, Macy Pago, Gracie Pago, Jacob Riley and James Riley; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years Cornella Smith Shaw; sister, Willie Mae Brown and grandson, Brenden Norris Connally.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2:00PM till …. at Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Burr Ferry, LA. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM also at Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Smith Family cemetery in Evans, LA.

Donald Eugene Williams

Donald Eugene Williams, 76, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Monday, March 13, 2017.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edith Williams of Rosepine, LA; sons, Cecil D. Williams (Paula) of Baytown, TX, Michael B. Guillory of DeRidder, LA and Byron J. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 5-9 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 10 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Bro. Eddie Tilley, Bro. Gary Bankson and Bro. James Byrd will officiate.

Nona Mae Willis

Nona Mae Willis, 86, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, March 10, 2017.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Hardy Willis and Novalina of Opelousas, LA and Clifford Beasley and Evelyn of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Earlie Brazzle and Grant of DeRidder, LA; brother Frank Beasley and Catherine of DeRidder, LA; twenty grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren and three great-greatgrandchildren; devoted caregivers, Sharon Ollie and Romona Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, five brothers, four sisters, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Murray Piper will officiate. Pallbearers will be Derek Nelson, Korey Willis, Michael Willis, Kenneth Nelson, Dre Nelson and Winford Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hardy Willis, Clifford Beasley, Roy Davis, El Ray Beasley, Frank Beasley, Grant Brazzle, Robert Nelson and Hosie Jones, Jr. Burial will follow at Newlin cemetery in Singer, LA.

Anna Lee Ravencraft

Anna Lee Ravencraft, 88, of Orange, Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Graveside service will be held, Friday, March 3, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Rigmaiden cemetery in DeQuincy, LA.

Those left to cherish her memory: son, Clint Harrison & wife Bonnie of Orange, Texas; and numerous grandchildren.
