Roosevelt Moore, Jr.

Visitation and service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 10:00AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Roosevelt Moore, Jr. was born July 23, 1980 to Shirley Lemoine and Roosevelt Moore, Sr. (biological parents). He was raised by Vernie and Gregory Silas. He departed this earthly life on December 11, 2016.

He married Lakecia Marks on April 2, 2010 and gained two step children, Jalen Marks and Malik Marks,

Mr. Roosevelt was a member of Beach Grove Baptist Church, where he was baptized by Pastor Alfred Holmes.

He was a graduate of DeRidder High Schol Class of 1999. During his high school year he played football and basketball.

He worked at O’Neals Plant for many years as a mechanic operator..

He was a very happy person and could make anyone he met laugh.

His smile will truly be missed .

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Carmen Brown and Pearl Moore and grandfather, Sam Hickman.

Those left to cherish his memory are: wife, Lakecia Moore; two sons, Jalen Marks and Malik Marks; mother, Vernie Silas, father, Gregory Silas; biological mom, Shirley Lemoine all of DeRidder. LA; biological father, Roosevelt Moore, Sr. of Natchitoches, LA; grandmothers, Willie Mae Kenebrew (Ira Thomas )

Lisa Benton

Lisa Kay Benton passed away December 9, 2016, after a brave battle with metastatic breast cancer. Lisa was born August 27, 1961, to Jackie Lamar and Sharon Bradbury Benton in Dothan, Alabama. After graduating from Tara High School in Baton Rouge in 1979, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Northeastern Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana at Monroe) in 1982. She went on to complete a Master of Science degree in School Psychology in 1984 at University of Southern Mississippi. She married and was blessed with two wonderful children. Lisa worked as a School Psychologist for Beauregard Parish Schools for over 30 years until she retired in May, 2016. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and successfully completed aggressive treatment. In early 2016, Lisa discovered that her cancer had recurred and she again demonstrated the strength for which she was known, bravely fighting the disease until finally passing away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, both of whom also died of cancer. Lisa is survived by her two brothers, Steve and Brad, and their families; children Michael Benton O’Neill and Corinne Emily O’Neill; Michael’s wife, Sarah, and their three children, Chance, Laela and Lilly Kay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lisa’s name to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.

Timothy Nash Sr.

Timothy Nash Sr, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home in Rosepine, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1932, in Leesville, Louisiana. Timothy truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as his family, friends, fishing, and his cattle.

Those left to cherish his memory are his six daughters, Katherine Martinez and husband Carl of Rosepine, LA, Terry Johnson and husband Lealon of Pitkin, LA, Debby Morris and husband Jim of Garland, TX, Cindy McNicholas of Austin, TX, Jennifer Hinkel and husband Wesley of Rosepine, LA, Daphne Smith and husband Keith of Crockett, TX, and his sister Adel Cryer of Rosepine, LA.

He had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. He also had numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth Midkiff Nash of Rosepine, LA and his son Timothy Nash Jr. of Rosepine, LA.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Grace Church in DeRidder, from 9:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM.

Officiating the services; Obituary-Rev. Gary Bankson, Reflection-Rev. George Lee Glass, Celebration of his life-Rev. Keith Smith(son-in-law).

Pallbearers will be Jason Martinez, Bubbie Johnson, Samuel Clark, Justin Hinkel, Dillion Hinkel, Ethan Smith, Colby Martinez and Dale Hunt. Honorary pallbearer is David Martinez. Burial will follow at Miller cemetery in Cottonwood, LA.

In lieu of flowers, we would like for you to consider honoring Timothy Nash by contributing to a Cancer foundation of your choice.

We would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support. He will truly be missed by all.

Leamon Robson, Jr.
Leamon Robson Jr. was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on October 15, 1953 to the late Leamon Robson Sr. and Minnie Gill Robson. He was reared in DeRidder, Louisiana and attended school in Beauregard Parish.

He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and united with the Sweet Home Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. D.J. Jones where he was an active member of the usher board. He was a loyal and dedicated member until his health failed. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Vivian J. Robson.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Leamon & Minnie Robson; 4 Siblings; Charlie White Jr., Juanita Williams, Ester Lee Scott and Shirley Ann McKnight.

On December 3, 2016, Leamon Robson Jr. was called home to rest. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Vivian J. Robson; 4 children: Robin O’Banion, Crystal Gail Puckett, Jennifer Puckett and Kenny Ray Puckett (Carmel); 8 grandchildren: D’Shyia Bolton, Ja’Kaylin Puckett, Keelin Puckett, Ja’ere Gamble, Joviaun Wevster, Jaquille Gamble, Malcolm Banks and Tre’ O’Banion; 2 nieces: Helen Tatman and Shawna McKnight-Brazzle (William); 3 Nephews: Marvin Harris, Richard Scott and Derrick McKnight; the Carlisle Boys, and a host of family, cousins and loving friends.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. (501 Carlisle Street) with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Beauregard cemetery in DeRidder, LA.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Gerald Douglas Banks
Gerald Douglas Banks, 70, passed Friday, December 2, 2016 with family by his side. A native of DeRidder, LA. A graduate of DeRidder High School, class of ‘66. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bexar during Vietnam. After serving his country, he worked and retired at Boise Cascade.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha Jo Hennigan Banks of DeRidder, LA; sons, Chris Banks and wife Michelle of DeRidder, LA and Joshua Todd Banks of The Woodlands, TX; brothers, Robert R. Banks and wife Betty Lee of DeRidder, LA and John Michael Banks and wife Angela of Dry Creek, LA; stepbrother Michael Paul Henry and wife Carla of DeRidder, LA; sister, Judy Banks of Centennial, CO; grandchildren, Jordan Dean Banks and wife Cyanna of Sulphur, LA and Gabriel Christian Banks of Lake Charles, LA; great grandchildren Ella Grace Banks and Iva Claire Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, RJ and Gladys Banks Henry.

Gerald loved being in his computer man cave. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and lover of jet black coffee. He had a passion of traveling with Martha, visiting friends and making memories with family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in DeRidder, from 9:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM. Brother George Lee Glass will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jordan Banks, Gabriel Banks, Joey Dronnet, Raymond White, Billy Burr and Eric Burr. Burial will follow at Cannon cemetery in Merryville, LA.

We would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support. He will truly be missed by all.

Clarence Cecil Hudson
Clarence Cecil Hudson, 73, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on November 30, 2016.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Stella Hudson of Merryville, LA; sons, Timothy Hudson and wife Traci of Merryville, LA and Jason Hudson of Merryville, LA; daughter, DeAnna Perry of Merryville, LA; brothers, Charles Hudson and wife Myrtis of Merryville, LA and Troy Hudson and wife Rita of Merryville, LA; sisters, Betty Merchant of Brewton, AL and Marion Leonard of Grove Hill, AL; grandchildren, Jasmine Hudson, Jaysa Hudson, Graycie Perry, Christian Hudson and Bryson Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Inez Hudson; brothers, Arthur Hudson, Anthony Hudson and Terry Hudson; and one sister, Linda Ann Anthony.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 6:00PM-9:00PM at United Pentecostal Church, in Bon Wier, TX. The service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00PM also at the Pentecostal Church, in Bon Wier, TX. Officiating will be Brother Glen Burks and Brother Charles Brown. Pallbearers will be C. J. Hudson, Troy Hudson, Jr., Anthony Hudson, Mike Dennis, Mark Dennis and Gary Dennis. Burial will follow at Merryville cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Elaine Jackson

Elaine Riggs Jackson, 85, of Merryville, LA, passed from this life on November 30, 2016 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, John Jackson and Dana of Lake Charles, LA; her daughter, Juanice Jackson Welsh and Dr. James B. Welsh of Midland, TX; her sisters, Penny Yokem and Hoyt of Benton, LA, and Linda Harvey and Reece of Brookeland, TX; her grandchildren, Christopher Barrett Welsh and Lorin of Dallas, TX, Dr. Brian David Welsh of Keller, TX, and Hannah Dale Jackson of Rice University in Houston, TX; two great grandchildren, Kinley Grace Welsh and Nora Riley Welsh; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Curry Riggs; her husband, Ezell Jackson; and seven siblings, James Bean, Ruth Thomas, Thomas Riggs, Robert Earl Riggs, Alice Jackson, Charles Riggs, and Virginia Atch Smith.

Mrs. Elaine Jackson began her work career with the United States Postal Service in Merryville, LA as a postal clerk and would eventually retire from there as the Postmaster. Mrs. Jackson had many interests and would find the time to enjoy oil painting, crocheting, reading, playing dominoes and bingo, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and just spending quality time with family and friends. Ms. Elaine was an active member of the PTA during her children’s school age years, and she was also an active member in the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many, many years.

Visitation and service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 9:00AM-11:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church in Merryville, LA. Brother Wayne Squires will officiate. Burial will follow at Hennigan cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

James Burch

James Rufus Burch, 87, of Leesville, La, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Grove UPC in Merryville, LA. Burial will follow at Hinson cemetery in Knight Community

Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
