Pinkey Rounds Jones, a homemaker, died Wednesday at her home. She was 83. Mrs. Jones was born in Raceland and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include two sons, John Jr. and Raymond Jones Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Duverney and Rosemary Andrews; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2020 St. Bernard Ave. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

AMACKER, OPHELIA B.
December 16, 2001

Ophelia B. Amacker, a homemaker, died Wednesday at her daughter's home. She was 94. Ms. Amacker was born in Mount Hermon and lived in New Orleans for the past 10 years. She was a member of Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, where she was a member and past president of the Christian Women Workers and a member of the usher board. Survivors include two daughters, Freddie Burris of Franklinton and Victoria Clauson; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, 2200 Greenlaw Ave., Franklinton. Visitation will be today from 3 to 7 p.m. with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Washington St., Franklinton. Burial will be in Sweet Home cemetery.

DUMAS, MORRIS ‘MORAY'
February 03, 2002

Morris "Moray" Dumas, a retired construction worker at Hebert O'Donnell, died Wednesday of cardiac arrest at Meadowcrest Hospital. He was 71. Mr. Dumas was born in Vacherie and lived in Marrero for the past 40 years. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Lois Bartholomew Dumas; a son, John G. Dumas; three brothers, Raymond, Welton and Hamilton Dumas, all of Edgard; and a sister, Glenda Webb of Edgard. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn cemetery in Avondale. Davis Mortuary Service is in charge of arrangements.

MONAGHAN, VERA ORTEGA
February 03, 2002

Vera Ortega Monaghan, a retired supervisor in the linen clothing industry, died Thursday at Walden Healthcare Center in Kenner. She was 76. Mrs. Monaghan was born in Plaucheville and lived in New Orleans for most of her life. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Fargo and R. David Cameron; a daughter, Patricia Fargo DeLaune; a sister, Gae Ortega Decker; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Gretna.

MAIER, MARION GRAHAM
February 17, 2002

Marion Graham Maier, a homemaker, died Thursday at her home. She was 99. Mrs. Maier was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a volunteer for more than 45 years. She was a founding member and officer of the St. Elizabeth's Guild, past president of the Silhouette Club, a member of the Kiwanis Club auxiliary, a past officer of the EENT hospital auxiliary, an organizer of annual bazaars benefiting Madonna Manor and a volunteer at Baptist Hospital. She was a member of the New Orleans Opera Guild, Friends of the Cabildo, the New Orleans Museum of Art, WYES-TV, WLAE-TV and other community and charitable organizations. Survivors include a son, Marion E. Maier; daughter, Adele M. Sellars; two half brothers, James B. and Wilson Graham; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.

PERKINS, ETHEL
February 17, 2002

Ethel Perkins, a homemaker, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton. She was 89. Mrs. Perkins was born in Franklinton and lived at the nursing home for the past five years. Survivors include a brother, John D. Wilson of New Orleans; and two sisters, Leatha Bickham and Mary Lee "Mae" Mingo. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 31499 Hayes Creek Road, Franklinton. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Crain & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HOARD, BRANDI A.
February 17, 2002

Brandi A. Hoard, a student at McDonogh No. 42 Elementary School, died Feb. 10 from injuries suffered in a car accident at St. Bernard and North Tonti streets. She was 6. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of the Pearlette youth affiliate of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Survivors include her father, Brian A. Hoard; her mother, Michele J. Jones; her grandparents, Almarita Bush and Alvin Jones; and a sister, Ciera Rankins. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Beacon Light Missionary Baptist Church, 2140 Mirabeau Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Gaskin-Southall-Gordon & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WISECUP, JOHN H.
January 20, 2002

John H. Wisecup, a retired seaman, former United Cab driver and retired civil servant, died Sept. 25 at Airport Tokyo, Japan. He was 82. Mr. Wisecup was born in New Orleans and lived in Yokohama, Japan, for 34 years. He attended Jesuit High School and was a pitcher for its baseball team. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a prisoner of war. He earned the rank of corporal and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the National Maritime Union, the USS Houston Survivors-Lost Battalion Association and Disabled Veterans of America. Funeral services were held in Japan. Burial was in National cemetery in Dallas.

SCHEFFER, MILDRED BERTHA ‘MILLIE' ‘MIMI' RAGAS
January 27, 2002

Mildred Bertha "Millie" "Mimi" Ragas Scheffer, died Jan. 17 at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Fla. She was 90. Mrs. Scheffer was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include a son, Roy J. Scheffer Jr.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at All Faith's Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd.

GAMBINO III, PETER JOHN
January 27, 2002

Peter John Gambino III, a warehouse manager for Diesel Engine Co., died Thursday of a heart attack at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 68. Mr. Gambino was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish. Survivors include his wife, Alice Gambino; a son, Dwain Gambino Sr.; a daughter, Sheila Kinler; a stepson, Darrell Vedros; a stepdaughter, Debra Ramey; his mother, Annie Gambino; and six grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn cemetery in Gretna.

January 27, 2002

Walter Matthew Guillemet, a retired baker, died Wednesday at Metropolitan Hospice. He was 80. Mr. Guillemet was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Rosie Tucker Guillemet; a son, Michael Guillemet; a daughter, Diane G. Newton; a stepson, Anthony Tucker; a stepdaughter, Crystal Tucker; a sister, Helen G. Nelson; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Philip St.. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis No. 2 cemetery. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

NEWMAN, BISHOP WILLIE SR.
January 27, 2002

Bishop Willie Newman Sr., a pastor and retired truck driver for Felix Menard Inc., died Monday of undetermined causes at his home. He was 68. Bishop Newman was born in Lake Providence and lived in New Orleans for many years. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Harris Newman; four sons, Milton Hensley, Michael Paul Perrilloux, Michael Harris and Willie Newman Jr.; a daughter, Deborah Ann Newman; his father, Isadore Newman; six brothers, James, Nathaniel, Anderson, Robert and Isadore Newman Jr., all of Los Angeles, and Freddie Chaney of St. Louis; three sisters, Jessie Mae Chaney of St. Louis, Rosie Lee Newman of Los Angeles and Eskaline Allen; and 12 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at New Testament Revival Church, 2307 Banks St. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Avondale. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
