SCHULZE, EUGENE JUSTIN
May 31, 2001

Eugene Justin Schulze, a plasterer, died May 22 of undetermined causes at his home. He was 32. Mr. Schulze was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School and was an employee of Robert's Plastering. Mr. Schulze was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Survivors include two brothers, Jason Schulze and David Adams; and four sisters, Lisa S. Mansion, Linda S. Robert, and Trinia and Nicole Adams. A Mass will be said today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1835 St. Roch Street. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3. Littlejohn's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SMITH, LLOYD ROLLAND
May 31, 2001

Lloyd Rolland Smith, a retired Army colonel, died Monday at Meadowcrest Hospital. He was 82. Mr. Smith was born in Fredonia, N.Y., and lived in Terrytown for many years. He was a 1937 graduate of Fredonia High School and attended Dunkirk Business College, the Baltimore College of Commerce, and Columbus and American universities in Washington, D.C. He worked as an Internal Revenue Service agent, assistant chief of the IRS Intelligence Division and as an agent with the state attorney general's organized crime division and was a district coordinator for the New Orleans West Bank area of the AARP tax preparation program. He served with the Army Air Corps in North Africa and the Middle East during World War II. He was a member of the 37th Infantry Division and the Ohio National Guard. He joined the Army Reserve U.S. Army Garrison 4009th of Baton Rouge , serving active duty with them during the Berlin crisis in 1961. He was a budget officer at Fort Polk and later assigned as budget officer of the 4th and 5th Army at Fort Sam Houston and retired with the rank of colonel. Survivors include his wife, Ura Chatelain Smith; two sons, Robert Smith of LaPlace and Brad Smith of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge.

SPATAFORA, ISMAY M.
May 31, 2001

Ismay M. Spatafora, a homemaker, died Tuesday at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 82. Mrs. Spatafora was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include a son, Salvador Spatafora; a daughter, Dallas S. VanRancken; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, 1717 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

TONGLET, ROBERT LOUIS ‘BOB'
May 31, 2001

Robert Louis "Bob" Tonglet, a retired beer salesman for Dixie Brewing Co., died Tuesday of complications from a stroke at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 84. Mr. Tonglet was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 18 years. Survivors include his wife, Kleo Mohr Tonglet; two daughters, Bobbie L. Zeringue and Kleo M. Pitcher; a sister, Lillian T. Stokes; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Hope Mausoleum.

TUSA, JOAN LARMEU
May 31, 2001

Joan Larmeu Tusa, a bookkeeper, died Sunday of complications from breast cancer at her home. She was 63. Mrs. Tusa was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard for 25 years and in Metairie for the past 11 years. She was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School. Survivors include a son, Anthony Joseph Tusa; a daughter, Tia Tusa Riche; a brother, John Larmeu; and two grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.

URSIN, GERALDINE ‘JEAN'
May 31, 2001

Geraldine "Jean" Ursin, a homemaker, died Friday from injuries sustained in a car accident in Bristol, Tenn. She was 46. Ms. Ursin had lived in Woodville, Miss., for the past 13 years. She attended Lutcher High School and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Woodville. Survivors include three sons, Ricou, Travis and Calvin Ursin, all of Woodville; a daughter, Carisa Ursin of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Jerry Mae Clayton; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Wilkinson County High School in Woodville. A dismissal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church in Paulina. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery in Paulina. Bardell's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

KEYS, ODEAL FORTIER
May 31, 2001

Odeal Fortier Keys, a homemaker, died Tuesday of heart failure at her granddaughter's home in Madisonville. She was 87. Mrs. Keys was born in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of Madisonville. She was a member of Historic St. James Baptist Church in Madisonville. Survivors include two sons, Howard Keys of Carson, Calif., and Rodney Keys; a sister, Lolita Butler; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Historic St. James Baptist Church, 312 Louisiana 1077, Madisonville. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. N.A. James Funeral Home in Hammond is in charge of arrangements.

Raul A. Flores, a self-employed painter and sander, died Tuesday of undetermined causes at Touro Infirmary. He was 19. Mr. Flores was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Interiano Flores; his mother, Ada Martinez Flores; two brothers, Wilmer Pinel and Douglas Flores; a sister, Ada G. Flores; and a grandfather, Santos Flores. A Mass will be said Friday at 2:45 p.m. in the chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery No. 1.

MAGGIO, SHIRLEY LOUISE SCHELLHAAS DI

Shirley Louise Schellhaas Di Maggio, a retired accountant for B&C; Supermarket, died Tuesday at her home. She was 83. Mrs. Di Maggio was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 35 years. Survivors include two sons, John and Nicholas Di Maggio; two brothers, Edmond F. and Milton Schellhaas; a sister, Verna Schellhaas Puig; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 2402 33rd St., Kenner. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3.

ALDRIDGE, JOSEPHINE TASSEY 'JOSIE'

Josephine Tassey "Josie" Aldridge, a homemaker, died Friday at Metropolitan Hospice. She was 82. Mrs. Aldridge was born in Bethlehem, Pa., and lived in St. Rose for the past 11 years. She was an Army nurse during World War II. She participated in bingo games at the Elmwood Room. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Aldridge Stoute in St. Rose; and a brother, Eddie Tassey. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories, 4800 Airline Highway, Metairie.

WILLIAMS, PEARL
May 31, 2001

Pearl Williams, a retired cook, died Friday of congestive heart failure at Memorial Medical Center. She was 71. Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was a former employee of the St. Raymond Catholic Church rectory. Survivors include three sons, Tyrone, Jerome and Wendell Williams; three daughters, Betty Bridges and Bobbie and Charlene Williams; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond Catholic Church, 3738 Paris Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Holt cemetery. Magee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

AUCOIN, ROBERT L.

Robert L. Aucoin, a retired manager of Owl Food Mart in New Orleans, died Thursday of a heart attack at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 61. Mr. Aucoin was born in New Orleans and lived in River Ridge for 35 years before moving to Metairie Manor last year. He graduated from McMain High School. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a member of the Metairie Guild, AARP and the St. Jude Society. Survivors include his wife, Barbara W. Aucoin; two sons, Robert C. and J. Barrett Aucoin; two brothers, Jacob P. and Albert Aucoin; two sisters, Deloris Aucoin and Brenda Prescott; and five grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 1021 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park cemetery.
