JEFFERSON, DARROW 'PEANUT' BERNARD
November 29, 2002

Darrow "Peanut" Bernard Jefferson, a laborer, died Nov. 22 of gunshot wounds at Jackson and Constance streets. He was 21. Mr. Jefferson was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School. Survivors include his companion, Keva Massey; a daughter, Darriyan Massey; his father, Darrell Mars; his mother, Gloria Jean Jefferson; his stepfather, Herbert Robinson; three brothers, Derrick and Antione Jefferson and Darrell D. Mars III; two sisters, Gabriel and Debra Mars; and his grandparents, Ethel Robinson and Frances McShane. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha C. Haley Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

PRIOUX, ANDREA FAITH ‘ANDI' DEROCHE
January 28, 2002

Andrea Faith "Andi" Deroche Prioux, a self-employed cab driver, died Sunday of cancer at her home. She was 50. Ms. Prioux was a lifelong resident of Metairie. Survivors include her father, Roland J. Deroche; her mother, Helen Martinez Briethoff; her stepfather, Charles Briethoff; a brother, Thomas Deroche; and her sister, Kirsten Hebert. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at noon at Lafrieniere Park, Shelter No.1.

MATHERNE, LORRAINE ROUSSELL
January 28, 2002

Lorraine Roussell Matherne, a homemaker and former beautician, died Friday at Chateau Living Center. She was 80. Mrs. Matherne was born in Harahan and lived in New Orleans for many years. Survivors include her husband, Moise Matherne; two sons, James S. Conner Jr., and Patrick Conner; a daughter, Kathleen C. Rome; two sisters, Louella Waters and Anna Mae Suprean; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held today at 1:15 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4640 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at P.J. McMahon and Sons Funeral Home, 4800 Canal St. Burial will be in St. Louis No.3 cemetery.

URSIN, RICOU TERRELL
May 31, 2001

Ricou Terrell Ursin died Friday from injuries sustained in a car accident in Bristol, Tenn. He was 5. He was born in New Orleans and lived in Woodville, Miss. Survivors include his parents, Ricou Ursin and Ekeisha Green; his grandparents, Molen and JoAnne Ursin and Emma and Alvin Green; a brother, Tyree Ursin; and a sister, Kayleagh Green. A funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Wilkinson County High School in Woodville. A dismissal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church in Paulina. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery in Paulina. Bardell's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

URSIN, TRASHIRA JANIECE
May 31, 2001

Trashira Janiece Ursin, a student, died Friday from injuries sustained in a car accident in Bristol, Tenn. She was 16. Ms. Ursin was born in New Orleans and lived in Woodville, Miss., for 13 years. She attended Wilkinson County High School in Woodville and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Woodville. Survivors include her father, Johnny Jackson Jr.; her grandparents, Johnny Jackson Sr. and Lydia Jackson; three brothers, Ricou, Travis and Calvin Ursin, all of Woodville; and a sister, Carisa Ursin, of Alexandria, Va. A funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Wilkinson County High School in Woodville. A dismissal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church in Paulina. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery in Paulina. Bardell's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

KERR, VIVISON H. SR.
November 29, 2002

Vivison H. Kerr Sr., a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Kerr was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church. He served as a Boy Scout leader and was an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Elvera L. Kerr; a son, Vivison H. Kerr Jr.; a daughter, Kim P. Kerr; a sister, Maxwell McEwen; and a grandchild. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church, 2545 Bayou Road. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

McCURDY, GAYLE MARIE HEBERT
November 29, 2002

Gayle Marie Hebert McCurdy, a homemaker, died Wednesday of cancer at her home. She was 64. Mrs. McCurdy was a lifelong resident of Marrero. She was a parishioner of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Michael James McCurdy; a sister, Audrey Halfhill; and a grandchild. A Mass will be said today at noon at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1701 Bridge City Ave., Bridge City. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

McRAE, WILLIE C. SR.
November 29, 2002

Willie C. McRae Sr., a retired employee of U.S. Gypsum Co., died Nov. 22 of respiratory failure at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. He was 68. Mr. McRae was born in Yantley, Ala., and lived in New Orleans for the past 48 years. He was a member of Gaza Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Brotherhood. Survivors include his wife, Daisy Gordon McRae; two sons, Stanley and Willie McRae Jr.; two daughters, Beverly McRae Harris and Cynthia McRae Thomas; two brothers, Al Junior and Curtis Edward McRae, both of Yantley; two sisters, Jessie Mae Collins of Meridian, Miss., and Daisy Safford of Inglewood, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 7 p.m. at Gaza Missionary Baptist Church, 7258 Ransom St. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Another funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Yantley. Burial will be in the Yantley church's cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

NEALY, JOHN LEE
November 29, 2002

John Lee Nealy, a retired assistant principal at Carver Middle School, died Monday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 88. Mr. Nealy was born in Houma and lived in New Orleans for the past 79 years. He was a graduate of McDonogh No. 35 Senior High School and Dillard University. He attended Howard University and Louisiana State University, where he received a master's in education. He was a member of the First African Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He served at the Criminal Court Building, Conrad Playground Committee, the 17th Ward Improvement Association, Carrollton-Hollygrove Center and as a state employment counselor. Survivors include his wife, Felicia Hatter Nealy; two sons, Tyrone and Carl Nealy; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, 2216 Third St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery No. 3. D.W. Anne Mae Bailey Perry, a homemaker, died Monday of congestive heart failure at her home. She was 54. Mrs. Perry was born in Raceland and was a lifelong resident of Gretna. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and its choir. Survivors include her husband, Clarence Perry; a son, Jeremy Perry; three daughters, Shebrina Perry-Mabens, Danniell Perry Taylor and Jaynell Perry ; two brothers, Horace and Howard Bailey; a sister, Alberta Bailey; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church, 2028 Weyer St., Gretna. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery. D.W. Thomas Raymond, a former Navy storekeeper, died Monday of liver failure at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. He was 43. Mr. Raymond was born in Lafayette and lived in New Iberia. He graduated from New Iberia Senior High School. He served in the Navy for 17 years. Survivors include his wife, Delisa Raymond; a son, DaShawn Raymond; a stepson, Desmond Adams; his mother, Mable Jules; six brothers, Earl Bray, Oliver Dugas, Darryl, Jones and Kenneth Raymond and Frazier Raymond Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Hornbeak. A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Naval Support Activity in Algiers. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. D.W.
