Juanita Coye Pillitteri, a retired Western Union telex operator, died Tuesday at East Jefferson Hospital. She was 77. Mrs. Pillitteri was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 30 years. She was a volunteer at East Jefferson Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia P. Pierron; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

Lawrence N. Veca, a retired assistant credit manager for The Times-Picayune, died Sunday at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 97. Mr. Veca was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 34 years. He attended Warren Easton High School and was a graduate of Soule Business College. He was co-founder and co-owner of the Larry Veca Orchestra, performing at the Audubon Tea Room, The Terrace Club and New Orleans Athletic Club. Survivors include his companion, Evelyn Bellardi; two sons, Donald J. Veca of Pleasanton, Calif., and Dr. Kenneth L. Veca of Kenner; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at noon at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Roch No. 2 cemetery.

Shayjon Miracle Martin, an baby, died Wednesday of heart failure at Children's Hospital. She was 1˝. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include her father, Shannon Cornelious Martin; her mother, Shanta Marie Smith; her grandparents, Deborah Barbarin, Wilfred Henderson, Cavada and Larry Smith, and Emanuel and Suprenia Washington; and two sisters, Sharanay Chante and Shaundre Reneč Martin. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. James Methodist Church, 1925 Ursulines Ave. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in St. Vincent cemetery. Joseph Nicholas Manale Sr., a retired captain with the New Orleans Fire Department, died Friday at Memorial Mercy Hospital. He was 78. Mr. Manale was a lifelong resident of Algiers. He was a graduate of Martin Behrman High School. He was a member of VFW 3121, VFW National Home, First Marine Division Association, Greater New Orleans Chapter First Marine Division, Marine Corps League Detachment 579, Dav Felix La Veau 10, Louisiana State Fireman's Association, American Legion 218, 40/8 Voiture 108, AM Vets Post No. 100, Police and Fireman's Holy Name Society, Veterans Firefighter 5th and 14th Defense Battalion, 10 Defense Battalion, and AARP Chapters 3975 and 4034. He served in the Marine Corps as a private first class in the South and Central Pacific during World War II. He was a recipient of the American Campaign medal, Asiatic Pacific two stars and the Victory Medallion. Survivors include his wife, Floris Susslin Manale; a son, Joseph N. Manale Jr.; a daughter, Janice Manale Buhler; two sisters, Theresa M. Borne and Mary Lou M. Ehret of Greenwood Miss.; a granddaughter; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home Inc., 1300 Vallette St., Algiers. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery.

Leota Stoute Gray, a homemaker, died Saturday at Ferncrest Nursing Home. She was 96. Mrs. Gray was born in Breaux Bridge and lived in St. Bernard Parish for the past 61 years. Survivors include a son, Paul Gray; two daughters, Hazel Guidry and Thelma Gray; a brother, Lawrence Stoute; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Memorial, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette. Visitation will be today at 6 p.m. and Tuesday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Catholic cemetery.

Evida DeFelice Kilgen, a retired teacher in Lafourche Parish, died Sunday at her home. She was 91. Ms. Kilgen was a lifelong resident of Cut Off. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Cut Off chapter of Lafourche Family and Community Education. Survivors include two sons, Ronald and Kirk Kilgen; two daughters, Barbara K. Chaisson and Kathleen Kilgen; a brother, Savare DeFelice; two sisters, Thelma DeFelice Lewis and Daisy DeFelice Duvigneaud; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Edna B. Geisinger, a retired mechanical engineer at BellSouth, died Wednesday of congestive heart failure at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was 69. Mrs. Geisinger was born in New Orleans, and lived in Abita Springs for 10 years and in Waldheim for the past seven years. She was a graduate of Sophie Wright High School and attended Louisiana Technical College. She was a former president of the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Guild. Survivors include her husband, Joseph O. Geisinger; a son, Charles Joseph Geisinger; a daughter, Joey Elizabeth Hoveh; and a sister, Lorraine Rheams. A Mass will be said today at 11:30 a.m. at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church in Abita Springs. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 Tyler St., Covington. Burial will be in Pine Crest Memorial cemetery.

Waldo John Galle Sr., a custodian supervisor, died Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center. He was 85. Mr. Galle was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a graduate of McDonogh No. 35 High School. He formerly worked at the Michoud Assembly Plant. Survivors include two sons, Waldo Galle Jr. of Port Gibson, Miss., and Edwin Galle; two daughters, Aloma Washington and Sylvania Jackson; two stepdaughters, Sharon Caliste and Ida Lewis; a sister, Melvina Rose; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Boissiere-Labat Family Funeral Services, 1703 N. Claiborne Ave.

Clifton "C.J." Fernandez Jr., a self-employed electrician, died Friday of a heart attack at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 65. Mr. Fernandez was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for many years. He received the Clem Award from St. Clement of Rome Parish. He was a member of the St. Clement of Rome Men's Club for the past 32 years, the Metairie Pigeon Club, the Greater New Orleans Combine and the Knights of Columbus of New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Rita Fernandez; a son, Darren Joseph Fernandez; a daughter, Debra Fernandez Broussard; a sister, Margie Nichols; and three grandchildren. Marie T.B. Nelson, a retired teacher with the Plaquemines Parish school system, died Saturday at her home. She was 96. Mrs. Melson was born in New Orleans and lived in Anderson, Ill., for the past 26 years. She graduated from McDonogh No. 35 High School and Teacher's Normal College. She attended Southern University, Xavier University and the Theological Seminary. She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Senior Missionary Circle, the Senior Choir and Pastor's Aid. She also was a Sunday School superintendent and teacher. Survivors include a son, Curtis H. Melson; a daughter, Constance J.B. McCowan; four grandchildren; a step-grandchild; six great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Israelite Baptist Church, 144 Villere St., Belle Chasse. Visitation will begin Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. D.W.
