Raymond Langlois, a retired longshoreman with Atlantic & Gulf Stevedoring, died Thursday at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 79. Mr. Langlois was born in New Orleans and lived in Chalmette. He was a Navy veteran. Survivors include a daughter, Carol L. Reis; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

RODRIGUEZ, MERCEDES C.
September 30, 2001

Mercedes C. Rodriguez, a homemaker, died Thursday at Chateau Living Center. She was 90. Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Coama, Puerto Rico, and lived in Kenner for the past seven years. Survivors include a son, Domingo D. Rodriguez; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

PERRONCEL, ANTOINETTE ELIZABETH FLATTMANN
September 30, 2001

Antoinette Elizabeth Flattmann Perroncel, a homemaker, died Thursday at Chateau Living Center. She was 87. Mrs. Perroncel was born in Raceland and lived in New Orleans most of her life. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Survivors include a daughter, Julia Heine; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.

MORALES, ISABEL
September 30, 2001

Isabel Morales, a homemaker, died Saturday of cancer at her home. She was 73. Mrs. Morales was born in St. Bernard and lived in Pearl River for the past 16 years. Survivors include six daughters, Antoinette Stogner, Tania Evans, April Ranzo and Ione M., Brenda and Zona Cambre; three sons, Timothy, Vidal and Antoine Cambre Jr.; three sisters, Louis Hammers, Ethel Bell and Marie Gullung; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at noon at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66181 St. Mary Drive, Pearl River. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery in Slidell.

MEYERS, TOLLIE
September 30, 2001

Tollie Meyers, a flea market vendor, died Monday of cancer at her home. She was 71. Ms. Meyers was born in Winnsboro and lived in Metairie. Survivors include a cousin. A private service was held. United Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.

MARTIN, HORACE ‘POPS' SR.
September 30, 2001

Horace "Pops" Martin Sr., a self-employed bricklayer, died Wednesday of complications from cancer at his home. He was 61. Mr. Martin was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Booker T. Washington High School. Survivors include his wife, Althea C. Martin; a son, Horace H. Martin Jr.; a daughter, Dwana Martin; a stepson, Edward C. Cassine III; a brother, Noel E. Martin; and nine grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Calvin J. Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LUCICH, ALFRED FRANCIS SR.
September 30, 2001

Alfred Francis Lucich Sr., a retired hearse driver with the New Orleans Limousine Service, died Friday at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. He was 90. Mr. Lucich was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a former delivery truck driver with Defelice Bakery for 20 years and a former driver for Checker Cab Co. for 10 years. He was a parishioner of St. Cecilia Catholic Church for 60 years, where he was an usher and volunteer. He was a member of the Benevolent Knights of America of Louisiana for 73 years. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Namias Lucich; two daughters, Alice L. Flattmann and Cheryln L. Castanedo; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4640 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Valence Street cemetery. Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

KELSEY, IDA SALTZ FINKELSTEIN
September 30, 2001

Ida Saltz Finkelstein Kelsey, a homemaker, died Friday in San Antonio. She was 79. Mrs. Kelsey was born in Baton Rouge and lived in San Antonio for many years. She was a member of Congregation Agudas Achim and Sisterhood in San Antonio, Grand Matron of Order of the Eastern Star Camelia Chapter No. 142, and a member of Hadassah National Council of Jewish Women. Survivors include a son, Koleman R. Finkelstein of River Ridge; a daughter, Barbara Levine of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be held today at 4 p.m. at Ahavas Sholem cemetery, 4400 Elysian Fields Ave. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HYLA, GERALDINE WITKOWSKI
September 30, 2001

Geraldine Witkowski Hyla, a retired chief operator with BellSouth, died Wednesday of a heart attack at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 72. Mrs. Hyla was born in Mount Clemens, Mich., and lived in Metairie for the past 38 years. She attended St. Ladislaus High School in Hamtramck, Mich. She volunteered as a librarian at Marie Riviere School and was a volunteer with Telephone Pioneers and St. Louis King of France. Survivors include her husband, Henry Hyla; a son, Gregory Hyla; a daughter, Pam Hyla Blue of Richtown, Miss.; a brother, Albert Witkowski of Petoskey, Mich.; a sister, Genieve Jekielek of Mount Clemens; and two grandchildren. A Mass was said Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Burial was in Metairie cemetery.

FOUNTAIN, CENTRAILL KWEESI
September 30, 2001

Centraill Kweesi Fountain died Tuesday of cancer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 20. Mr. Fountain was born in Metairie and lived in Baton Rouge. He attended Belaire High School in Baton Rouge. He was a member of Greater King David Baptist Church. Survivors include his father, Cornell Campbell; his mother, Mary E. Fountain Meggs; his stepfather, Deon Meggs Sr.; a brother, Deon Meggs Jr.; a sister, Shantel Fountain; and his grandparents, Helen Johnson, Queen Esther and Freddie Meggs Sr., and John Campbell Jr. A funeral will be held today at 6 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, 11112 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Dismissal will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Port Hudson National cemetery in Port Hudson.

BROWN, MARY MARTHA
September 30, 2001

Mary Martha Brown, a retired executive with Donn & Bradstreet Inc., died Monday of complications from surgery in Atlanta. She was 68. Miss Brown was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., and lived in New Orleans most of her life before moving to Atlanta more than 20 years ago. She was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Republican Party and the Executive Women's Club. She was named one of the 20 outstanding volunteer activists in Atlanta in 1979. A Mass was said Sept. 21. Burial was in the garden of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

BLOMQUIST, CHARLES EDWARD ‘SWEDE' JR.
September 30, 2001

Charles Edward "Swede" Blomquist Jr., a cattle farmer, died Friday at his home. He was 81. Mr. Blomquist was a lifelong resident of Hammond. He was a member of First Christian Church of Hammond and was a merchant seaman during World War II. He was a member of Dairymen Inc. He also was a member and former president of the Louisiana Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Robertson Blomquist; a brother, Curtis Blomquist; and a sister, Sylvia Blomquist LaDew of Ponchatoula. A funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

RUSSELL, MARY ALICE
September 16, 2002

Mary Alice Russell, a homemaker, died Tuesday of pneumonia at St. Claude Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Russell was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include five sons, James, Lawrence, Michael, Malcolm and Walter Russell; seven daughters, Mary, Francis, Artimese and Augustine Russell, Viola Gray, Mildred Mays and Linda Dupssis; 27 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple Church, 1339 Gallier St. Burial will be in Restlawn Park. Visitation will be today from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Directors, 4101 St. Claude Ave.
