Henrine T. Millet, a homemaker, died Wednesday of a heart attack at her home. She was 71. Mrs. Millet was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was formerly employed with First Step Learning Center and St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, in which she was also a member. Survivors include her husband, Hubert Millet; two sons, McKinley "Mack" and Marvin Millet Sr.; a daughter, Dessadra "De" Marshall; three sisters, Veronica Brown, Mary Martin and Cecelia Sawyer; and four grandchildren. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 4700 Pindea St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. A burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Louisiana Undertaking Co. is in charge of arrangements.

McLAIN, EMELIA D.
May 29, 2001

Emelia D. McLain, a retired floral shop clerk, died Friday at St. Clare Manor in Baton Rouge. She was 89. Mrs. McLain was born in Biloxi, Miss., and lived in Denham Springs for the past 28 years. Survivors include a daughter, Midge Magee; a stepson, Ray McLain; two stepdaughters, Rosalie Dickerson and Leatte Sharp; three brothers, Roy, Bobby and Ernest Cooper Jr.; and two sisters, Claire Drinkard and Norma Blossman. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 S. Tyler St., Covington. Burial will be in Blackwell cemetery in Folsom.

LOCKHART, JAMES M. ‘JIM' SR.
May 29, 2001

James M. "Jim" Lockhart Sr., a retired steamfitter, died Thursday at his home. He was 87. Mr. Lockhart was born in New Orleans and lived in Harahan for the past 22 years. He was a member of Steamfitters Local Union No. 60. Survivors include his wife, Iris Carney Lockhart; a brother, William Henry Lockhart III; a sister, Betty Lockhart Correnti; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.

KLOPF, JULIA JENCVA OULLIBER
May 29, 2001

Julia Jencva Oulliber Klopf, a homemaker, died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center. She was 82. Mrs. Klopf was born in Slidell and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Soulé Business College and was a former bookkeeper at I.A. Kammer. She was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Charles J. Klopf Jr.; two daughters, Anne Klopf Garner and Eugenie Klopf Cronan; a sister, Mary Mae Kerlec; and five grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery No. 1.

HILLS, JOSETTA INETTE ROSS
May 29, 2001

Josetta Inette Ross Hills, a homemaker, died May 19 of heart failure at her home. She was 40. Mrs. Hills was born in Port Sulphur and lived in St. Bernard for the past 20 years. Survivors include her husband, Blunston Hills Sr.; a son, Blunston Hills Jr.; three daughters, Kianta Cosse and LaShondra and LaKeidra Hills; her mother, Agnes Ross; three brothers, Clarence Camese, Willie Kermit and Christopher Cosse; and three sisters, Angel Milton, Elvira Walker and Mae Alice. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Techne St., Algiers. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Barthelemy cemetery in Diamond.

HARVEY, ROWENA WURZLOW
May 29, 2001

Rowena Wurzlow Harvey, a homemaker, died Sunday at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 88. Mrs. Harvey was born in Houma and lived in Harahan for the past 25 years. She was a parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church in Harahan. Survivors include a son, Francis Wurzlow Harvey; two daughters, Christina Harvey Daigle and Rowena Harvey Meyer; two brothers, Herbert and Kermit Wurzlow; a sister, Filicie Wurzlow Walker; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in Metairie cemetery.

EVERY, SONJA ANGELA WILSON
May 29, 2001

Sonja Angela Wilson Every, a medical technician at St. Charles General Hospital, died May 23 of undetermined causes at St. Charles General Hospital. She was 31. Mrs. Every was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of St. James Major High School and Delgado Community College. She was a member of New Home Full Gospel Ministries and a member of the Accredited Health Information Management Association. Survivors include her husband, Damian M. Every; her father, Louis Wilson; her mother, Rachel V. Wilson; and her grandparents, Gagar Ames, Thelma Ames of Cape Charles, Va., and Lawrence Wilson. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at New Home Full Gospel Ministries, 13800 Hayne Blvd. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

EL-AMIN, TAUHEEDAH
May 29, 2001

Tauheedah El-Amin, a licensed practical nurse with Crescent City Health Care, died Monday of liver cancer at her home. She was 70. Mrs. El-Amin was born in Pike County, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for many years. She was a member of Ozion Baptist Church until her conversion to the Muslim faith. Survivors include three daughters, Brenda J. Smith, Saaida Millro and Lashara El-Amin; a stepdaughter, Mary Prevost Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Calvin Young Funeral Home, 2512 LaSalle St. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Muslim cemetery in Slidell.

DESLATTES, DR. RICHARD DAY
May 29, 2001

Richard Day Deslattes, a physicist, died May 16 of cancer at his home. He was 70. Mr. Deslattes was born in New Orleans and lived in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Loyola and Johns Hopkins universities. Mr. Deslattes was employed by the National Bureau of Standards in Washington and held research associate and postdoctoral positions at Florida State and Cornell universities. He was a senior fellow and fellow emeritus at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Md., and held the positions of senior research fellow, chief of the quantum metrology division and senior NIST fellow. He participated in research collaborations in Germany at the University of Heidelberg, where he received the Senior U.S. Scientist Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 1983, and in France at the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, where a major gamma-ray spectroscopy facility was developed. Mr. Deslattes was a member of the Society of Photo-Optical Engineers and an elected fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Washington Academy of Science. He received the Department of Commerce Silver Medal; the Arthur S. Fleming Award; the NBS Samuel W. Stratton Award; the Department of Commerce Gold Medal; the Symbols, Units, Nomenclature-Atomic Masses and Fundamental Physical Constants Medal; and the Fellow and Chartered Physicist Award. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Deslattes; a son, Gregory R. Deslattes of Dalton, Ga.; three daughters, Marie Elise Zovko of Zagreb, Croatia, Anne Deslattes Mays of Gaithersburg, and Rachel Anne Deslattes Reder of Durham, N.C.; and six grandchildren. A funeral was held in Rockville, Md.

DANIEL, JOYCE BROCATO JOHNSON
May 29, 2001

Joyce Brocato Johnson Daniel, a retired medical secretary at Ochsner Foundation Hospital, died Friday of undetermined causes at Metropolitan Hospice. She was 73. Mrs. Davis was born in New Orleans and lived in Pensacola, Fla., for more than 20 years before moving to Metairie. She was a member of the Ad Lib and JPRD bridge clubs. Survivors include her husband, Thomas M. Daniel; three daughters, Nancy J. Ussery, Mary Frances J. Seymour and Paulette J. Dozier; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery in Pensacola.

CLARK, NIGEL O. ‘TURK'
May 29, 2001

Nigel O. "Turk" Clark, a self-employed cosmetologist, died May 23 of a gunshot wound in the 3200 block of Gravier St. He was 34. Mr. Clark was born in Gulfport, Miss., and lived in New Orleans. He attended Gulfport High School, the Job Corps and Chris' Beauty College. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church of Gulfport. Survivors include his wife, Emilee Clark; a son, Nigel Horseford of Decatur, Ga.; a daughter, Diasha; two brothers, Frank Jr. and Eric "Rasta Man" Clark, both of Gulfport; and three sisters, Gwen Holmes, Cynthia Davis and Paula Dedeaux, all of Gulfport. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Gulfport. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Charbonnet-Labat Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip St. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Gulfport. Richmond Funeral Home of Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

BOUDREAUX, JUANITA GIBSON
May 29, 2001

Juanita Gibson Boudreaux, a homemaker, died Monday at Franklin Foundation Hospital in Franklin. She was 77. Mrs. Boudreaux was born in New Orleans and lived in Centerville since 1962. Survivors include four sons, Lynn Boudreaux of Westwego, Francis Boudreaux of Morgan City and Dennis and Cletus Boudreaux of Centerville; four daughters, Mary B. Verret of Charenton, Barbara B. Lionberger of Henderson, Ky., Juanita B. "Nita" Griffith of Prentiss, Miss., and Theresa B. Lombardo of Franklin; two brothers, Patrick H. Gibson Jr. of Gretna and Francis M. Gibson of Marrero; a sister, Gertrude "Gayle" Ponseti of Algiers; and 16 grandchildren. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Ibert's Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

BATTLE, JEAN ADAMS
May 29, 2001

Jean Adams Battle, a homemaker, died Saturday of heart failure at her home. She was 72. Mrs. Battle was born in Shelman, Ga., and lived in River Ridge for 22 years. She was an elder of Parkway Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband, Henry Kraak Battle; two sons, Erich and Paul Battle; a daughter, Elizabeth Vinturella; a stepson, Henry Battle Jr. of Baton Rouge; her mother, Virginia Adams of Roswell, Ga.; three sisters, Amy Adams Crawford of Roswell, Mary Anne Adams Nelson of Florida and Effie Adams Smith of West Virginia; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2929 Metairie Road, Metairie. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories cemetery.
