BOBECK, DANIEL FRANCES
March 15, 2002

Daniel Frances Bobeck, a mechanical engineer for Design Associates, died Thursday of a heart attack at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was 64. Mr. Bobeck was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Slidell. He was an employee of Textron for 13 years. He was a retired commander in the Coast Guard. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Sharon J. Bobeck; two sons, Stephen G. and Daniel F. Bobeck Jr.; five daughters, Marybeth E. Muir, Alice B. Derise, Carryl B. Osborn, Kathleen A. Bobeck and Marcella B. Bobeck; a brother, Walter Bobeck; three sisters, Chrissy Bender, Betty Savukinas and Pat Cordisco; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd., followed by a Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery.

LeCLERCQ, GEORGE JOSEPH ‘GEORGE THE BARBER'
March 14, 2002

George Joseph "George The Barber" LeClercq, a retired barber, died Tuesday of respiratory failure at Chalmette Medical Center. He was 71. Mr. LeClercq was born in Plaquemine and lived in Marrero. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the owner of George's Barber Shop and a former general contractor. He was a member of Forum Lodge No. 395, F&AM.; Survivors include his wife, Zoe Richoux LeClercq; a son, Keith LeClercq; two daughters, Gail Hodges and Karen Temple; a sister, Lottie Bouquet; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero. Visitation will begin at 7:30 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.

PREVOST, CHARLES J. ‘CHIEF' SR.
March 14, 2002

Charles J. "Chief" Prevost Sr., a retired bricklayer, died Monday at his home. He was 80. Mr. Prevost was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a member of International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craft Workers Local No. 1. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Doris Robert Prevost; two sons, Charles Jr. and Kevin Prevost; a daughter, Connie Prevost-Stewart; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Friday at 11:15 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church, 1949 Duels St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Boissiere-Labat Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LAMBERT, EVAN J. SR.
March 14, 2002

Evan J. Lambert Sr., a retired bookkeeper for a steamship company, died Thursday at his home. He was 87. Mr. Lambert was a lifelong resident of St. Rose. Survivors include his wife, Louise Williams Lambert; three sons, Evan, Ronald and Robert Lambert; a sister, Bernice L. Montz; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home handled arrangements.

KING, MARILYN CHARBONNET
March 14, 2002

Marilyn Charbonnet King, a homemaker and former secretary, died Monday of kidney failure at her home. She was 73. Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She had been a secretary at St. Dominic School. She was a member of AARP and a volunteer at Malta Square. Survivors include a son, Michael King; two daughters, Mary Beth Lampert and Bridget King; a brother, Richard Charbonnet; a sister, Merle Ignolia; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery No. 1.

WIGGINTON, KORI MARY
March 13, 2002

Kori Mary Wigginton died Wednesday after being born prematurely at Memorial Medical Center. Survivors include her parents, Steven and Lori Wigginton of Chalmette; a brother, Ethan Lopinto of Chalmette; her grandparents, William and Trudy Wigginton of Picayune, Miss., and Michael and Pat Lopinto of Chalmette; and her great-grandmothers, Evelyn Lestelle and Dorothy Wigginton, both of Chalmette. A graveside service was held Monday at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Picayune. Picayune Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

WARD, SHELIA ‘SHE' WESLEY
March 13, 2002

Shelia "She" Wesley Ward, a day-care worker, died Friday of cancer at University Hospital. She was 46. Mrs. Ward was born in New Orleans and was a graduate of Fortier High School. She worked at Mary's Day School. Survivors include her husband, Robert Ward; two sons, Keith and Kevin Ward; a daughter, Semaj Wesley Crouch; five brothers, Albert, Jeffery, Louis Brock Jr., Dwain Travis and Joel Gaines; and three sisters, Stephanie and Lori Wesley and Antoinette Sanford of Atlanta. A funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at Gaskin, Southall, Gordon and Gordon Mortuary, 1225 N. Rampart St. Visitation is at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Carrollton cemetery.

THORNTON, LOUIS ‘BUTCH'
March 13, 2002

Louis "Butch" Thornton, owner and captain of the charter boat "Miss Mississippi" out of Empire, died Monday of a heart attack in Ocean Springs, Miss. He was 59. Mr. Thornton was a lifelong resident of Biloxi, Miss. Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Thornton; a son, Louis "Butch" Thornton Jr. of Empire; a daughter, Maria Thornton-Hignight of Empire; his mother, Ivy Thornton of St. Martin, Miss.; a brother, Carey Thornton of Empire; two sisters, Jean Thornton of St. Martin and Donna Gaspard of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at noon at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Biloxi. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, 675 Howard Ave., Biloxi. Burial will be in D'Iberville Memorial Park.

ANN, JoANN ST.
March 13, 2002

JoAnn St. Ann, a homemaker, died Saturday of cardiac arrest at Meadowcrest Hospital. She was 62. Mrs. St. Ann was born in Plaquemines Parish and lived in Triumph. She was a Eucharistic minister and parishioner at Our Lady of Good Harbour Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Plaquemines Parish Council on Aging. Survivors include her husband, Martin St. Ann Jr.; a daughter, Marla Waivers; two brothers, Paul Williamson Jr. and Ernest Cleveland Jr.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A wake will be held today from 8 to 11 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Harbour Catholic Church in Buras. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. A Mass will be said Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SLAUGHTER, GEORGIANA COPELIN
March 13, 2002

Georgiana Copelin Slaughter, a retired custodial worker at Charity Hospital, died Thursday of undetermined causes at Lakeland Medical Center. She was 74. Mrs. Slaughter was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. Survivors include four sons, Willie Slaughter and Rodney, Kelvin and Kevin Jackson; three daughters, Wilma Ellis, Cynthia and Rosetta Jackson; a brother, Rudolph Copelin; 34 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, 1841 Flood St. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Dismissal will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Tilly's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PERALTA, ANTHONY AUGUST
March 13, 2002

Anthony August Peralta, former owner of Tina's Coffee Shop, died Thursday of heart failure at his home. He was 70. Mr. Peralta was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Christina Haisch, and a sister, Blanche Constance. Services will be private. Professional Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
