AUBIN, J. WARREN (K5DVQ)
A resident of Baton Rouge, he died peacefully in his home at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, surrounded by his family. He was 82 and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired broadcasting engineer of WAFB-TV, Channel 9, and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. An amateur radio operator for 58 years, he was a member of BRARC, ARRL, QCWA, Old China Hands, Society of Wave Pioneers and the Houma-Thibodaux Amateur Radio Club. A parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, he served as an usher and Eucharistic minister. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Virgie Olivier Aubin, a native of Plaquemine; three daughters and their families, Ann Aubin Pulliam of Zachary, her husband, Dan Pulliam, and their two children, Katelyn and Hunter Pulliam, Marie L. Aubin, and Norma J. Aubin and her husband, Greg P. Sanders, all of Baton Rouge; and two brothers, Albert Aubin of Carmichael, Calif., and Thomas Aubin of Sacramento, Calif., and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren N. Aubin and Mary Falvey Aubin, who were of Baton Rouge; and six brothers. His family wishes to thank Dr. David Hanson and staff, Dr. Carl Luikart and staff, and St. Joseph Hospice for their excellent treatment and care. Visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, until memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Donald Blanchard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A retired professional horse trainer and a resident of Plains, he died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 67 and a native of Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Religious service at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Tommy French and the Rev. Dave Smith. Interment in Young Family Cemtery. Survived by his wife, Rotha Mills Cook, Plains; a daughter and son-in-law, Stefanie and Chad Blanchard, Port Allen; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" Cook Jr. and Kelli Carlisle Cook, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Peairs, Baton Rouge, and Betty Ann Joiner, Loranger; three brothers, Albert Lee Cook, Bude, Miss., Gene Ray Cook, Kentwood, and Donald Paul Cook, Baton Rouge; and his first grandson, Colt Lane Blanchard, who is yet to be born. preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Katie Rist Cook; two sisters, Beverly Jane Dean and Kathleen Samson; and a brother, the Rev. He served as a judge for NCHA 4-H and was an inductee in the LCHA Hall of Fame.
CREDEUR, CURLEY J.
A resident of Port Allen, he died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Veterans Affairs Hospital, New Orleans. He was 56 and a native of Opelousas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., led by Sister Emma Noel. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Berggreen. Interment in Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. Survived by his father, Wilbert G. CROCHET, JOHN
A memorial mass will be held for Jean Baptiste Crochet at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004. Rosary will be recited at the church at 9 a.m. Mr. Crochet was born in Loreauville on June 8, 1922, and lived for more than 50 years in New Iberia. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and gave of his time and labor for the church through the years. He was a retired welder and member of Local Union 198 in Baton Rouge. He passed away at his residence on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Amy Hebert Crochet; his sister, Mae Domingue; and a brother, Venus "Charlie" Crochet. Also surviving are his children, Jackie Angers and her husband Chris, Kevin Crochet and Spring Hebert and her husband Joey. He is survived also by six grandchildren, Katherine Angers, Lee Rebecca Angers, Joan Leece, Charisse Broussard, Phillip Lanza and Rebecca Hebert; and four great-grandchildren, Trey Scarabin, Mel and Christopher Leece and Beau Broussard. Mr. Crochet was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Edmonia Dugas Crochet; his brothers, Dennis "Dan," Joseph and Ernest "Beb"; a sister, Martha Derise; and his daughter-in-law, Rosie Crochet. His lifelong enjoyment was working in his yard and garden. He happily shared the fruits of his labor with all who came to admire, often sharing his plants, cuttings and vegetables with total strangers who happened to stop by to talk with him about the beauty in his yard and garden. It was his wish that his remains be donated to the Tulane Medical School in New Orleans. The family requests that no flowers be sent, but that monetary donations will be accepted and sent to Cancer Services, Hospice of Acadiana and other noted charities. The family wishes to express their thanks to all the medical personnel and family and friends who assisted so graciously in this time of our need.
FRIEZE, MICHAEL LEE
A resident of Baker, he died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at 2 a.m. at Earl K. Long Medical Center. He was 29 and a native of Lynnwood, Calif. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Louisiana National Guard. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Religious service at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Harvey Stuart and Brother Ronnie Charpentier. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by his mother, Sharon Frieze of Baker; father, Lee Frieze of California; grandmother, Jewell Hennesy of Zachary; three aunts, Jill Logue, Dell Guerra and Barbara Mattson; two uncles, Wayne Miley and Martin Mattson; and cousins, Jimmie Dell Jerry, Jeffrey Jenkins, Scott Morales, Keith Morales, Jim Wayne Miley, Chad Guerra, Alan Mattson, Alesha Mattson and Morgan Miley. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Miley. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Baptist Church.
GARDNER, WILLIE
A retired employee of Modern Tires and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 9:05 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 81 and a native of Lake Providence. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Roosevelt Nolan. Interment in Port Hudson National cemetery. Survived by a daughter, Janice G. Banks; two sons, Willie Gardner Jr. and Reginald Paul Gardner; a sister, Estella G. Harris; a brother, Issac Gardner; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
GIROD, JIMMY D.
Jimmy D. Girod died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at East Jefferson Hospital. He was 72. Mr. Girod was born in Tullos, formerly resided in Baton Rouge and was a resident of Metairie for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Pitts Girod; two sons, Mark Joel Girod and Jon Kevin Girod; two brothers, Marvin Glenn Girod and Walter Allen Girod; and three grandchildren. Visitation at L.A. Co-owner of Lew & Jude Hair Salon and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 60 and a native of Plaquemine. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Cleo Milano. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by his business partner and special friend, Lew Bodie of Baton Rouge; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John W. and Betty Grass Jr., Baton Rouge, and Wayne and Sara Grass, Plaquemine; a niece and three nephews, Jane Mitchell, John W. Grass III, Harvey Grass and Wayne "Bubba" Grass; and his faithful dog, Suzette. preceded in death by his parents, John Wilfred Sr. and Hilda Bossier Grass. A retired truck driver for Vulcan Foundry and a resident of Walker, he departed this life Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet.
