NEWELLTON, LA - Graveside services for Martha Ellen Coenen Seaman, who died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, in Shreveport, LA, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Legion Memorial cemetery in Newellton with Father Jamie Medina officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. with rosary service at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Seaman was born July 7, 1912, in Rayville, LA.
She was a graduate of Rayville High School. Her favorite career was being a wife, mother and grandmother, which she loved dearly. To all that knew her, yard work was her favorite past time.
Mrs. Seaman was preceded in death by her husband, Sheriff W.M. "Mac" Seaman; parents, Harry John Coenen and Martha Mattingly Coenen; brothers, George, Henry and Jon Coenen; and son-in-law, Lloyd H. Perkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha "Sweetie" Perkins and Ritsy Prince and husband, Keith; two sons, W.M. Kenzie Perkins and wife, JoAnn and Davide B. Seaman and wife, Cecile; grandchildren, Buddy, Bill and Dorothy Perkins, Will, Bob, Phillip and Martha Jane "Marti" Seaman, Amy and Michael Prince; and six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Golden Wilson Hawthorne
JONESVILLE, LA - Services for Golden Wilson Hawthorne, 84, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today at Grace Baptist Church in Jonesville with the Rev. Perry Gardner officiating.
Burial will be in Heard cemetery in Manifest, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.
She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Gideons Auxiliary Club.
Agnes Louise Jones
WATERPROOF, LA - Services for Agnes Louise Jones, 70, of Waterproof (Loamland), LA, who died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Waterproof (Loamland).
Burial will be in Loamland cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Monroe.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Alberta "Monkey" Watson
ST. JOSEPH, LA - Services for Alberta "Monkey" Watson, 70, of St. Joseph, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, LA, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. John Baptist Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Aaron Germany officiating.
Burial will be in Union Fraternal cemetery in St. Joseph under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Watson was born Oct. 27, 1933, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Bill Skinner and Ruth Taylor Marshall.
She was employed with the Tensas Parish School Board and a member of Flowery Mount Baptist Church.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosia Marie Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Alex Watson, Sr. of St. Joseph; five sons, Alex Watson, Jr. of Calumet City, IL, Eugene Watson (Patricia), Herman Watson (Tina) and Curtis Watson, all of St. Joseph and Kevin Jackson (LaHonda) of Monroe, LA; five daughters, Sarah Gholston (Sammie), Katie Watson, Glynis Cephus (Steve), all of St. Joseph, Lena Jones (Willie) of West Valley City, UT and Martha Bass (Nolen) of Newellton, LA; four brothers, Otis Fields of Chicago, IL, D.C. Thomas of Waterproof, Eugene Marshall (Arlene) of Norfork, VA and Bill Skinner of New Orleans, LA; two sisters, Maggie Mickey of Hazelcrest, IL and Lomie Lewis of Monroe, LA; three god children, Midget Brown of Ferriday, LA, Robert Jenkins of Oakland, CA and Martha Griggs of St. Joseph; four aunts, one uncle, 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Emma J. Russell

JONESBORO, LA - Services for Emma J. Russell, 94, of Ferriday, LA formerly of Jonesboro, who died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Mary Baptist Church in Jonesboro with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.
Services will also be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Free Spring Baptist Church in Doloroso with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be in Free Spring Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Mrs. Russell was born Nov. 9, 1909, in Doloroso, the daughter of Henry and Phoebe Phipps.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting with her sister, the late Annie Dennis. Their quilts were known nationally and some of their work hangs in the Smithsonian Institute.
Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Russell.
Survivors include great-nephew and caregiver, Arthur Johnson of Ferriday; one brother, Robert Edgar Johnson of Doloroso; two nephews, Rev. Robert Sullivan of Ferriday and Rev. Frank Sullivan of Natchez; one niece, Inez Larthridge of Hodge, LA.
Carol Aplin Becnel Finnegan
HARRISONBURG, LA - Funeral services for Carol Aplin Becnel Finnegan, 58, of Ferriday, LA will be held at 2 p.m. today at Harrisonburg Baptist Church, Harrisonburg, La. with Rev. Marshall Jenkins, and Kevin Finnegan officiating.
Interment will follow at Harrisonburg cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Finnegan was born August 6, 1945 in Jena, La. She passed away with her family by her side on at Lizburn Hall her place of Residence at 11:07 Sunday March 28, 2004.
Survivors include husband, Kevin Finnegan of Vidalia, La.; daughter, Tara Becnel of Destin, Fla.; son, Damon Richard Becnel of Destin, Fla.; daughter, Sara Lillian Becnel of Winter Park, Fla.; father, Cater Freeman Aplin Jr. of Harrisonburg, La.; mother, Lillian Aplin of Harrisonburg, La.; grand daughter, Devin Alexis Hare; grand daughter, Hope Elizabeth Moncla; grand daughter-Anna Clare Moncla; brother, John and Sherry Aplin of Winnsboro, LA.
Pallbearers will be Damon Becnel, James Aplin, John Aplin, Tommy Lazarus, Paul Lazarus, John Connor, Jackie Owens, and Tom Becnel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Molly Finnegan, Mickey Brown, Dee Dee Talbot, Brenda Taliferro, Willie Lazarus, and Judy Brents.
The family will receive friends at Harrisonburg Baptist Church, Harrisonburg, La. from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 31, 2004.
A reception will follow at Lizburn Hall following the services.
Leola "Ginette" Harris-Benard
WATERPROOF, LA - Services for Leola "Ginette" Harris-Benard, 81, of Waterproof, who died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at West Jefferson Medical Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church of Waterproof.
Burial will be in Good Samaritan cemetery in Waterproof under the direction off Davis Mortuary of Marrero, LA.
Visitation is from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born in Waterproof, was a retired teacher from the Tensas Parish School Board and attended Tensas Parish Training School in St. Joseph, LA. She graduated from Grambling University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and obtained a Master's from Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. She began her teaching career at Balmoral Church School and moved to Burns, Lisbon Elementary and Waterproof High School. Mrs. Benard was a member of Myrtle Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the Usher Board, director of Vacation Bible School and was a member of Grambling University Alumni, O.E.S. Crescent Chapter 142.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Dunbar of Westwego, LA, Randy Wiley and Fredrick O. Jenkins of Houston, TX; one daughter, Doris B. Blanche of Avondale, LA; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

William Troy Strahan
LAKE ST. JOHN, LA - Services for William Troy Strahan, 75, of Ferriday, LA, who died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lake St. John Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Hood, the Rev. Carl Wilson and the Rev. Ralph Webber officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.
He was a resident of Ferriday, was retired from the Postal Service in Vidalia, prior to that he was employed with Johns Mansville and the Town of VIdalia. He was a member of the Lake St. John Community Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Mr. Strahan was preceded in death by his father, Bowen H. Strahan; his mother, Etta Mae Strahan; brother, Bowen H. Strahan Jr.; sister, Mary Louise Graham.
Survivors include his wife, Martha L. Perkins Strahan of Ferriday; daughters, Mary E. Phelps of Jackson, LA and Martha Elizabeth Grote of Centralia, IL; son, William Bowen Strahan of Natchez; brothers, Robert A. Strahan of Baskin, LA, Jack Strahan of West Monroe, LA and Arthur Lane Strahan of Monroe, LA; sister, Joyce A. Brown of Farmerville, LA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Ryan H. Strahan, Keith Phelps, Bowen J. Strahan, Scott A. Grote, Kirk Phelps and Rachel Louise Phelps.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Strahan, William Guthrie, Dan Stevenson, Hershal Waller, Johnnie Donald and the Deacons of Lake St. John Community Baptist.
Myrtle Mincey Moran
SHREVEPORT, LA - Myrtle Mincey Moran died on March 11, 2004, after a short illness, at Grace Home surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 6, 1924, in Peason, Louisiana, the daughter of Rossie Overstreet and Otis Sawyer Mincey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Francis "Frank" Moran, two infant sons, her brother Dennis Mincey, her sister Frances Mason, and her special sister-in-law Kathleen Phillips.
She is survived by her sister, Jamie Garrigus of Illinois, her daughter, Cecilia "Ceci" Johnson and her husband, Bernard, her son Chris and his wife, Mary Katherine, of Mobile, Alabama, and her grandchildren, Anna, Slattery, Thomas, and Harry Johnson, and Sean Moran. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Mary Rose Cecola, and four special nieces, Peggy Fowler, Kay Paine, Jan Mason, and Ann Daigle. Also surviving her are brother-in-law, George Moran and his wife Sallie, and sister-in-law, Margaret Moran.
Myrt was the salutatorian of her class at Ruston High School, and obtained a B.A. in business from Louisiana Tech, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Myrt lived in Natchez, Mississippi, for 27 years, where she was an active member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Pilgrimage Garden Club. After her husband's death in 1992, she returned to Shreveport to be near her daughter and family. In 2003, she moved to the Stiles Apartments at The Glen. In Shreveport, she was active in the Marquette Reading Circle, a docent at the Meadows Museum, a Christus Schumpert volunteer, and a former member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and a current member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Myrt was widely admired for her strength of character and her sense of style. Those who knew her were always inspired by her positive and upbeat attitude.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Saturday, March 13, at 1:30 p.m., followed by burial at St. Joseph cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Chuck Meehan and Dr. Joe Paine.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert E. Sullivan and J. William Patton.
A visitation and vigil service was held at Osborn Funeral Home on March 12.
The family gives special thanks to Dr. Loyd Whitley and the people of Christus Schumpert Hospital and Grace Home for their excellent care, and to the people of The Glen for their friendship.
It is suggested that any memorials be made to St. Mary's Cathedral in Natchez, The Glen Retirement System or Grace Home in Shreveport, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Mr. Ford was born Aug. 5, 1967, in Waterproof, the son of Samuel and Idella Robinson Ford.
He was a farmer.
Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his father.

She was a retired teacher from the Concordia Parish School System after 30 years.
