Maggie Tanner

Dec. 13, 1922 - July 25, 2003

WATERPROOF, LA - Services for Maggie Tanner, 80, of Waterproof, who died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United (Shiloh) Baptist Church in Waterproof with the Rev. Roosevelt England officiating.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Tanner was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Natchitoches, LA.

She was a food service technician for Tulane Hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Warren of St. Joseph, LA; one sister, Clara L. Hubbard of Marrero, LA; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Alice Greene

Dec. 28, 1913 - July 27, 2003

NEW ERA, LA - Services for Alice Greene, 89, of New Era, who died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Stowell, the Rev. Robert Dandridge and the Rev. Huey Tarpley officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. today until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Greene was born Dec. 28, 1913, in Delhi, LA, the daughter of Levi and Mattie Newton Bush.

She was a resident of New Era for twenty two years and a homemaker. Mrs. Greene was a pioneer woman, coming early to this country of woods and wilderness. She was a diligent, hard worker, true to her frugal Scot-Irish roots. With the heart of an artist, her creative nature found expression in her needlework, her garden, her kitchen and her wry, dry wit. While a private and quiet person, she possessed the gift of hospitality, expressing her care for others through her giving actions.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond "Buster" Greene of New Era; two daughters, Evelyn Dandridge of Minden, LA and Melba King of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the New Era Baptist Church.

The family requests memorials be made to the New Era Baptist church Building Fund.

Martha D. "Boots" Gentry

NEWELLTON, LA - Graveside services for Martha D. "Boots" Gentry, 82, of Natchez, who died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah after a lengthy illness, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Legion Memorial cemetery in Newellton with Father Walter Brown officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

Miss Gentry was born in Newellton, LA, and had lived in Natchez for 35 years. She owned a day care center for children and was a Methodist.

Miss Gentry was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Austin Gentry.

Survivors include four sisters, Lela Wiggins of Vidalia, LA, Gwen "Lady" Tindell of St. Joseph, LA, Mary Ann Netterville and Lynn Thompson of Tallulah; one brother, Johnny Smith of Newellton; a beloved cousin, Mary Frances Coronis of Monroe, LA.

Ellen Fay Luttrull Robinson

JONESVILLE, LA - Services for Ellen Fay Luttrull Robinson, 66, of Jonesville, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. today at Oak Grove Free Methodist Church in Jonesville with the Revs. Robert Bedford and Kenneth Lukens officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Free Methodist cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers of Alexandria.

Mike Haley

SICILY ISLAND, LA - Graveside services for Mike Haley, 59, of Sicily Island, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at E.A. Conway Hospital Monroe, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Park cemetery in Sicily Island with the Rev. Bill Foster officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

He was a lifelong resident of Sicily Island, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sicily Island and served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Haley was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Sophie Haley of Sicily Island.

Survivors include daughter, Mia Haley and husband, Joe of Biloxi; step-daughter, Lindsey Cleveland of Long Beach; step-son, Shane Hutchinson of Baltimore, MD; two grandsons, Evan Chubb and Parker Frame of Biloxi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Sicily Island, LA.

Ocelia "Sally" Ferguson

MONTEREY, LA - Services for Ocelia "Sally" Ferguson, 78, of Natchez, formerly of Monterey, who died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. today at Monterey First Baptist Church with the Rev. Curt Wilson, Jr. and the Rev. Richard Enterkin officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

She was a resident of Natchez, a nurse and a member of Monterey First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy James Ferguson; her father, Henry Clay Vaughan; and her mother, Dora Elizabeth Vaughan.

Survivors include three sons, James Ferguson and wife, Rene' of Roxie, Robert and wife, Mary Lee Ferguson of Duson, LA and Clyve Ferguson and wife, Cynthia of Friendship, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Lou Tannehill of Shreveport, LA and Billy Ann Vaughan of Oak Grove, LA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Ferguson, Nicholas Ferguson, George Benson and Christopher Ferguson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Campbell and Rogers Terrell.

Memorials may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Alex A. Green

March 23, 1929 - Oct. 25, 2003

FROGMORE, LA - Services for Alex A. Green, 74, of Ferriday, LA, who died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore with the Rev. L.B. Oliver officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Green was born March 23, 1929, in Frogmore, the son of Willie Luvenia Collins Green.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Scott Green of Ferriday; three daughters, seven sons, five brothers, three sisters, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements for Charlotte Hunter, 78, of Mandeville, LA, formerly of Waterproof, LA, who died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Baton Rouge, LA, are incomplete at Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Thelma M. Thomas

Funeral arrangements for Thelma M. Thomas, 56, of Ferriday, LA, who died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, are incomplete at Concordia Funeral Home.

Dixie Williams

NATCHEZ - Services for Dixie Williams, 75, of New Orleans, LA, formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at a local hospital in New Orleans, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Rock Baptist Church, 15-A Tate Road.

Burial will be in the Leesdale cemetery under the direction of C. Johnson Mortuary of New Orleans.

Mrs. Williams was born in Natchez, the daughter of Andrew and Stora Miller.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by one son, James Ware; four sisters, Katie Miller, Josephine Hamilton, Addie Miller and Gertrude Williams; three brothers, James Miller, Henry Miller and John Miller.

Survivors include two daughters, Anice Williams and Elaine Williams; three sons, Johnnie Lee Williams, Tyron Williams and Levi Williams, all of New Orleans; four sisters, Lucille Buchanan of Natchez, Laura Miller of New Orleans, Elizabeth Bradford of Kirby and Clarice Montgomery of Natchez; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Mary Sadler

JONESVILLE, LA - Services for Mary Sadler, 88, of Jonesville, who died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, LA, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moss Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. T.A. Baker, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include one adopted son, Calvin Sadler; one sister, Millie Sadler; special niece, Gloria Duncan, all of Jonesville; one brother, Henry Sadler of Alexandria, LA.

Willie Richardson

CLAYTON, LA - Services for Willie Richardson, 93, of Clayton, who died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Clayton.

Ronnie Lloyd LaPrairie

LARTO, LA - Services for Ronnie Lloyd LaPrairie, 53, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Larto Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Trisler and the Rev. Mack Walker officiating.

Burial will be in Pease cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

He was a resident of Natchez, a carpenter and a Baptist.

Mr. LaPrairie was preceded in death by his father, Frank LaPrairie; his mother, Ida Bordelon LaPrairie; brother, Mike LaPrairie; and sister, Neva L. White.

Survivors include his wife, Donna LaPrairie of Natchez; four sons, Ronnie Dewayne LaPrairie and Robert Shane LaPrairie of Monterey, LA and Eric Steven LaPrairie and Christopher Todd LaPrairie of Natchez; three brothers, George LaPrairie of Larto, Nelson LaPrairie of Jonesville, LA and Frank LaPrairie of Jonesville, LA; four sisters, Bernice McKnight and Jeanette Denny of Monterey, Helen Ashley of Woodville and Barbara Stermer of Gonzales, LA; six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Billy Patrick Alexander

ALEXANDRIA, LA - Memorial services for Billy Patrick Alexander, 62, of Lena, LA, who died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, will be at 6:30 p.m. today at John Kramer & Son in Alexandria.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Oswalt cemetery in Lismore, LA with the Rev. Scott Gillon under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Alexandria and was a life long musician.

Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, Bilbo M. and Nell Thompson Alexander.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Mount Alexander of Lena; three children, David Patrick Alexander of Baton Rouge, LA, Monica Marie Alexander of Pineville, LA and Brandon Patrick Alexander of Lena; one grandson, Jordan Patrick Guillot of Pineville; one sister, Judith Marie Peavy of Brookhaven; two brothers, Michael A. Alexander of Lena and Tommy D. Alexander of Boyce, LA; his step-mother, Shirley Alexander of Pierre Part, LA; one step-brother, Charles Patton of Pierre Part.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Bairnsfather, David Book, Reggie Ballard, David Peavy, Mark Peavy, Charlie Butler, Curt Mount and Charles Teekel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Linda Mount, Rick Lanier, Jack Cavitt, Todd Barrington, Cliff Hamilton, Joe Mount and members of Night Train and Redeye Bands.

Hattie Mae (Naff) McAllister

WINNFIELD, LA - Services for Hattie Mae (Naff) McAllister, 83, of Joyce, LA, who died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Corinth Baptist Church in Winnfield with the Revs. Donnie Wise, Rayford Higgs and Carrol Garlington officiating.

Burial will be in Heard cemetery in Manifest, LA under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. today until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. McAllister was the daughter of Charles Naff and Zelma (Naff) Rogers.

She was a long time member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Ferriday and at present a member of Old Union Baptist Church in Joyce, LA. She was a homemaker and a native of Rayville, LA.

Mrs. McAllister was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. McAllister; two daughters, Ruth McAllister and Allie McAllister; one son, Charles McAllister; two grandchildren, Ray Carroll and Amanda McAllister.

Survivors include four daughters, Lela Cockerham of Joyce, Ethel Addison of Woodville, TX, Kathy Carroll of Joyce and Betty Courville of Lawtell, LA; five sons, Richard McAllister of Joyce, James McAllister of Winnfield, Elbert McAllister of Ferriday, Robert McAllister of Calvin, LA and Huey McAllister of Joyce; one brother, Charles Wesley Costello of Vicksburg; 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
