VIDALIA, LA - Services for John Tomko, 88, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia with the Rev. Barry Dennis officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

He was a resident of Vidalia, a Purchasing Agent for FMC Corp. and a Methodist.

Mr. Tomko was preceded in death by his father, George Tomko; his mother, Anna Mares Tomko; daughter, Virginia Ruth Tomko; two sisters, Anne Matejek and Mary Sabina.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie "Lee" Tomko of Vidalia; two sons, George Raymond Tomko and wife, Anett of Westwood, N.J. and William John Tomko and wife, Carol of Ferriday, LA; niece, Marianne Richter of Brick, N.J.; nephew, Joseph E. Matejek of Clearwater, FL; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Matejek, George Tomko, William Tomko, Jerry Cline, Jacob Schultz and Michael Snowden.

Mike Haley

SICILY ISLAND, LA - Graveside services for Mike Haley, 59, of Sicily Island, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at E.A. Conway Hospital Monroe, will be at 11 a.m. today at Highland Park cemetery in Sicily Island with the Rev. Bill Foster officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

He was a lifelong resident of Sicily Island, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sicily Island and served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Haley was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Sophie Haley of Sicily Island.

Survivors include daughter, Mia Haley Frame and husband, Joe of Biloxi; step-daughter, Lindsey Cleveland of Long Beach; step-son, Shane Hutchinson of Baltimore, MD; two grandsons, Evan Chubb and Parker Frame of Biloxi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Sicily Island, LA.

Betty Bonneau

LISMORE, LA - Services for Betty Bonneau, 68, of Lismore, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Cornerstone Hospital West Monroe, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lismore Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Gilmore and the Rev. Mike Howard officiating.

Burial will be in Ozwalt cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

She was a resident of Lismore, a salesperson for Doris Dress Shop and a member of Lismore Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bonneau was preceded in death by her father, Charles Cole Ames; her mother, Linnie Beard Ames; two brothers, J.D. Ames and Dewey Ames; one sister, Catherine Kidd.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Bonneau of Lismore; two daughters, Charlene McGaha and husband, Bruce of Oak Grove, LA and Terri Murry and husband, Robert of Jonesville, LA; son, Craig Bonneau of Baton Rouge; four step-daughters, Barbara Bonneau of France, Cynthia Middleton of Hatchechubbee, AL, Matha Sue Bonneau of Columbus, GA and Jennifer Elizabeth Chadwick of Spring Branch, TX; step-son, Ricky Bonneau of College Station, TX; brother, Charles Thomas Ames of Monterey, LA; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.

Coney B. LaCroix

Nov. 13, 1923 - Nov. 21, 2003

WILDSVILLE, La. - Funeral services for Coney B. LaCroix, 80, who died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at The Columns in Jonesville, will be at 1 p.m. today at Evangeline Baptist Church in Wildsville with the Revs. Gary Waggoner and Charles Hutzler officiating.

Burial will be at Jena cemetery in Jena.

Visitation will be today prior to services at the church.

Mr. LaCroix was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Parhams, the son of Stephen B. and Lydia Fairbanks LaCroix. He was a life-long resident of Concordia and Catahoula Parishes, a retired turret servicer for Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and an inactive deacon at Evangeline Baptist Church in Wildsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irma Tosspon.

Survivors include his wife, Princess P. LaCroix of Wildsville; a son, Coney R. LaCroix of Greenville, S. C.; two daughters, Penny L. Filipowicz of Hamilton Square, N.J. and Sherida L. Nelson of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Clyde L. LaCroix of Wildsville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Lacroix Jr., George Tosspon, Bradford Nelson, Charlie Filipowicz, Gary Duck and James Everett LaCroix.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie LaCroix, Jimmy Wade, and the deacons of Evangeline Baptist Church.

George Cain

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for George Cain, 48, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Preston Holder officiating.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cain was a resident of Ferriday, a landscape designer and a Baptist. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur F. Cain, and one brother, Wilbur C. Cain.

Survivors include his mother, Anna Belle Cain of Ferriday; three sisters, Shelby Guidry and her husband, L.J., both of Ferriday, Eula Mae Moore of Houston and Ruth Smith and her husband, Herman, both of Ferriday; and four brothers, Charles Cain and his wife, Jackie, John Cain and his wife, Brenda, and Richard Cain and his wife, Patsy, all of Ferriday, and Malcolm Cain and his, wife Charlotte, both of Vidalia.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Onolia Bullock Ellis

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Onolia Bullock Ellis, 79, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in Natchez, will be at 1 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church in Ferriday with the Revs. Gary Howington, Marion Trisler Jr. and Albert Fraley officiating.

Burial will be at Pease cemetery in Larto under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Columbia, the daughter of Walter and Beulah Maxwell Bullock. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Ferriday. She was a lifelong resident of Concordia and Catahoula parishes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ellard Sr.; one son, Walter Wesley Ellard; one great-granddaughter, Kimberly Charrier; one grandson, Wesley Allen Ellard; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons, John D. Ellard Sr. of Monterey, Claude Ellard Jr. of Larto and Curtis Ellard of Jonesville; six daughters, Mary Nichols of Vick and Margaret Hastings, Dorris Burns, Dorothy Carter, Faye Carroll and Bertha Bryan, all of Vidalia; one brother, Tommy Bullock of Waynesville, Okla.; two sisters, Helen Langsford of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Myrtle Lee Langston of Columbia; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ben Wiley, Artellis Charrier, Jason Short, Kent Charrier, Curtis Charrier and Chance Wiley. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Wiley, Dwain Carter, Joey Bryan, Curtis Ellard Jr. and Dusty Burns.

Ethel Beatrice McNeely

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Ethel Beatrice McNeely, 73, of Clayton, who died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Milton Rushing officiating.

Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. McNeely was born April 18, 1930, in Marion, the daughter of Dan and Ethel Byrd Howard. She was a longtime resident of Clayton and a member of Clayton Pentecostal Church. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by one son, Roger Elvis McNeely; two brothers, Burnice Howard and Toby Howard; and one sister, Bobie Houghton.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Ray McNeely of Alabama and Coleman Ray McNeely Jr. of Montana; six daughters, Carline Williams of Prairieville, Judy Ann McNeely, Linda Gay McNeely and Connie Fay Finley, all of Monterey, Gloria Jean Knight of Jonesville and Sue Adair of French Settlement; a brother, Louis Howard of Natchez; three sisters, Pauline Childers of Jena, Alta Mae Hamilton of Jonesville and Lola Rae O'Briant of Clayton; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Frederic Raymond Johnson

Oct. 20, 1910 -- Oct. 31, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. -- Services for Frederic Raymond Johnson, 93, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jamie Medina officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 20, 1910, in Chicago, the son of Fredric and Maud P. Johnson.

He was an administrator in the movie industry until his retirement and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Mr. Johnson attended Loyola University and University of Illinois and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1937. Memberships included Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Mu Sigma Rho honor society and Mensa International.

After teaching at LSU for several years, he moved to southern California, where he was employed at Technicolor until his retirement in 1976.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a major in the U.S. Army in the European campaign.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rosemary Johnson.

Survivors included his wife, Suzanne Moull/ Johnson; one daughter, Cathy Schleining, and her husband, John, both of Ashland, Ore.; two grandchildren, Lara Schleining and Evan Schleining of Ashland; four nieces; one nephew; and 13 great-nieces and -nephews.

Pallbearers will be Nolan Moull/ III, Enrique DeBayle, Vince Gremillion, Chris DeBayle, Ben DeBayle, Oliver DeBayle, Max Huff and Evan Schleining.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Laird, Harold Moak, Dr. Gene Vogt, Dr. Huey Moak, Woodie Davis and Cecil Brooking.

DeLeta Furr Peniston

SICILY ISLAND, La. -- DeLeta Furr Peniston, 93, died on Saturday.

She was a retired schoolteacher in the Catahoula Parish schools.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 in the First United Methodist Church in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday with visitation from 10 a.m. Monday in the church until time of service.

Dixie "Mama Dear" Williams

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Services for Dixie "Mama Dear" Williams, 77, of New Orleans, who died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Metropolitan Hospice, will be at 9 a.m. today at Littlejohn's Funeral Home Chapel in New Orleans.

Burial will be in Leesdale cemetery under the direction of Littlejohn Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 8 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Charlotte Hunter

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Charlotte Hunter, 78, of Mandeville, LA, who died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at her son's residence in Baton Rouge, LA, will be at 3 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Curtis Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

She was a homemaker and a Charter Member of the Bengal Belles.

Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband, William Johns Hunter; her father, Fred William Gottlob; her mother, Mary Charlotte Standiford Gottlob.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Turner of Baton Rouge and William David and wife, Jan Hunter of Richmond, TX; two daughters, Mary Jennifer and husband, John Harrell of Rogers, AK and Amy Lea and husband, Kendal Keifner of Baton Rouge; one brother, Fred Gottlob of Taylor, MI; four sisters, Christine Morris of Newellton, LA, Frederica Edwards of Wartrace, TN, Henrietta Ferrington of Waterproof, LA and Cathryn Grace Gale of Swifton, AK; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Henry Carrigee, David Karam, Charles Morris, Tal Lanius, Kendal Keifner and John Harrell.

Honorary pallbearer will be Henry Lanius.

Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Anna B. Williams

SICILY ISLAND, La. - Services for Anna B. Williams, 83, of Hartford, Ala., who died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, in Hartford, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Sicily Island.

Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home in Ferriday.

Survivors include two daughters, June Hudgens and Betty L. Bowers; one son, Jimmy Williams; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

C. E. "Blackie" Ellis

Nov. 8, 1934 - Sept. 30, 2003

CLAYTON, LA - Memorial services for C. E. "Blackie" Ellis, formerly of Clayton, who died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Tampa, FL, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Church of the Living God in Clayton.

Mr. Ellis was born Nov. 8, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ellis.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ann Porter and Elizabeth Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Scott Ellis and his wife, Laura of Port St. Lucie, FL; two daughters, Stacy Ellis and husband, Donnie of Richmond, IN and Vicki Thomas and husband, Dave of Jensen Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Brittney and Chelsea Ellis, Tabitha and Isabeau Ellis, Cody and Calab Beard and Taylor Thomas; one great-grandchild, Pagan Ellis and wife of fourty years, Velma Ellis; two brothers, Herbert Ellis and wife, Jean and the Rev. Ed Ellis and wife, Sandra, all of Clayton; four sisters, Jerri Wilson of Little Rock, AK, Denize Letlow of Magnolia, AK, Juanita Kroese and husband, Owen of Lawrence, IL and Patsy Bryant of Brandon.
