Louise Adams

CONOR, La. - Services for Louise Adams, 38, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beech Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home.

Adams was born Dec. 27, 1963, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Alma Adams Wyatt and L.C. Banford.

Adams was preceded in death by her parents and her godmother, Sarah Hampton.

Survivors include one daughter, Gabiella Davis of Woodville; three sisters, D'vonne Blackmore and Frances Green and her husband, Calvin, all of Woodville, and Melinda Haynes and her husband, Keefer, both of Centreville; four brothers, James Adams and his wife, Pam, both of New Orleans, Gregory Wyatt and his wife, Antonist, both of Plaquemine, La., and Charles and Donald Wyatt, both of Woodville; two uncles, Tommy Adams and his wife, Ellen, both of St. Francisville, La., and William Banford and his wife, Lucille; six aunts, Bessie Smith and her husband, Charles, both of New Orleans, Vivian Freeman and her husband, Greg, both of Hammond, La., Sally Willis Hubert, Odeal Seymore, Ida Banford and Louise Hardy; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James Ancel Kitchen Sr.

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for James Ancel "Jimmy" Kitchen Sr., 89, of St. Joseph, who died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Cooper officiating.

Burial will be at Legion Memorial cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kitchen was born March 15, 1914, in Edgar Springs, Mo., the son of James Edward and Nancy Evans Kitchen.

He was Tensas Parish clerk of courts for 44 years and was a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of St. Joseph Tensas Masonic Lodge 309 and El Karubah Shriners of Monroe and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include two sons, James A. Kitchen Jr. and wife Judith of Baton Rouge and John C. Kitchen and wife Deborah of St. Joseph; four grandchildren, James A. Kitchen III, john Charles Kitchen, Julie Kristen Kitchen and William Daniel Kitchen; and two nieces and two nephews.

Pallbearers will be James A. Kitchen III, John Charles Kitchen, William Daniel Kitchen, Leroy McDaniel, Allen Perritt and Jerome K. Post Jr.

Cyrus Green Sr.

May 31, 1924 - March 18, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Cyrus Green Sr., 78, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Veteran's Hospital in Alexandria, will be at noon Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Mays officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Green was born May 31, 1924, in Monterey, the son of Dudley and Rowena Alms Green.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator, was a member and deacon of Rising Sun Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters; one daughter, Mercy D. Green; one grandson, Arijoray Green.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Davis Green of Ferriday; five sons, Archie Davis and his wife, Barbara, Cyrus Green Jr. and Richard Green, all of Ferriday, Floyd Green and his wife, Andrea, both of Powder Springs, Ga. and Calvin Green and his wife, Wanda, both of Cartersville, Ga.; three daughters, Janice Brown of Champaigne, Ill., Dorothy Brown and her husband, Midget and Rose Green, all of Ferriday; two brothers, Stevenson Green of New Orleans and L.C. Addison of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Nellie Breda and he husband, Joe, both of Alexandria, Lentine Roshell and her husband, Clarence, both of Flint, Mich. and Betty Green of New York, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; one uncle, Joe Ross of New Orleans; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger Wayne Stowers

ALEXANDRIA, La. - Services for Roger Wayne Stowers, 49, of San Antonio, who died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Memorial Herman Katy Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at John Kramer and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louis E. Sklar III officiating.

Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Alexandria under the direction of John Kramer and Sons.

Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. with a wake service at 5:30 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

He was a longtime resident of San Antonio, was a recognized floral designer who won many awards including the Texas Cup and was a member of the American Institute of Floral Design and Texas Master Florist. He was an interior designer for 18 years before becoming a floral designer.

Mr. Stowers was preceded in death by his father, John Stowers; his stepfather, James Roy; and one brother, John Stowers.

Survivors include his lifetime partners, Jeff Bledsoe of San Antonio and Joyce Stowers of Houston; two daughters, Surjet Rappold and her husband, Michael, both of Baton Rouge, and Shana Stowers of Lena; his mother, Shirley Roy of Lena; two brothers, Jerry Stowers of Vidalia and Benji Stowers of Natchez.

The family requests memorials be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana, 8200 Hampson St., Suite 259, New Orleans, LA 70118.

Lutie White Hawkins

Nov. 17, 1902 -- July 29, 2002

COLUMBIA, La. -- Services for Lutie White Hawkins, 99, of Albany, Ga., formerly of Columbia, who died Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Phobe-Putney Hospital in Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Columbia Hill cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Hawkins was born Nov. 17, 1902, in Caldwell Parish.

She was a retired school teacher, a graduate of Grayson High School and Normal Teachers College in Natchitoches. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Columbia and a member of First Baptist Church in Albany. She was also a member of the Columbia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving a total of 73 years.

Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband, James Malloy Hawkins Sr.; one son, James Malloy Hawkins Jr.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Dryg.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Hawkins Carroll and her husband, Ben, both of Albany; two sons, Dr. Harold C. Hawkins of Natchez and Linus Tillman Hawkins and his wife, Barbara M. Hawkins, both of Jennings; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Hawkins of Ferriday; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Hawkins and his wife, Mary Ann Hawkins, Danny Hawkins, Julia Carroll Rice and her husband, the Rev. Don L. Rice, Ben M. Carroll and his wife, Linda Carroll, Tim H. Carroll and his wife, Virginia Carrol, C. Matt Carroll, Dr. Marshall M. Hawkins and his wife, Dr. Barbara L. Palmer-Hawkins, and Elizabeth Hawkins Swinson and her husband, David Swinson; 12 great-grandchildren, Carrie R. Hand and her husband, Wendell Hand, David B. Rice, Nathan H. Carroll, M. Aaron Carroll, M. Caleb Carroll, Rachel A. Carroll, Amanda R. Carroll, Ben J. Carroll, Josh G. Carroll, Eric T. Dryg, John M. Hawkins and Jason C. Hawkins; and five great-great-grandchildren, Braylee Dryg, Aislyn Dryg, Greg Hawkins, Abigail L. Hand and Hugh Redding.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, John Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, Eric Dryg, David Rice, Benjamin Carroll, Josh Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Aaron Carroll and Caleb Carroll.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jimmy Hawkins, Danny Hawkins, Dr. Marshall Hawkins, Ben Carroll, Tim Carroll and Matt Carroll.

The family requests memorials be made to the Natchez Children's Home, Natchez.

William Thomas Donovan III

MORGANZA, La. - Services for William Thomas "Billy" Donovan III, 70, of Plaquemine, who died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Riverwest Medical Center in Plaquemine, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. Howard Hall officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Niland's Funeral Service of New Roads.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

He was a native of Natchez, resided most of his life in Morganza and, for the past three-and-a-half years, lived in Plaquemine. He worked for many years at Morganza Elementary School and was a retiree of the Pointe Coupee Parish School System. He spent the majority of his life working with youngsters as a volunteer, coaching Little League Baseball and youth basketball.

Mr. Donovan was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Donovan Jr.; his mother, Lula Mae Robinson Donovan; one brother, Donald Anthony Donovan; his nephew, Michael Troy Donovan; and one brother-in-law, David Smith.

Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Doucet and Constance Smith, both of Livonia, La.; and five brothers, John Donovan of Baton Rouge, Errol Donovan of Monroe, Wallace "Pat" Donovan of Livonia, Duane Donovan of Beaufort, S.C., and Michael Donovan of New Roads.

Virgil P. King

March 12, 1912 - March 14, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Virgil P. King, 90, of Ferriday, who died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Young's Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Cullum officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. King was born March 16, 1912, in Strong, Ark., the son of Claude Asbury King and Mary Virginia King.

He was a custodian for the Concordia Parish School Board. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include two sons, Wilburn King and his wife, Sherry, both of Houston, and William King of California; two sisters, Norvelle King of Newellton and Myrtle Alson of Emmit, Idaho; and one brother, Emery King of Ferriday.

Pallbearers will be Bruce King, Mickey King, Tim King, James King, Steve King and Charles Campbell.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ernest Davis.

Ernest A. Bowie

Aug. 13, 1913 - March 10, 2003

TALLULAH, La. - Services for Ernest A. Bowie, 89, of Tallulah, who died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Madison Parish Baptist Nursing Home, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at New Morning Star Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Natchez National cemetery under the direction of Funerals by McFarland.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowie was a retired store owner and a World War II veteran.

Mabel Louise Miles

Nov. 24, 1911 -- July 19, 2002

FERRIDAY, La. -- Services for Mabel Louise Miles, 90, of Vidalia, who died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Old Catahoula cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miles was born Nov. 24, 1911, in Harrisonburg, the daughter of Alber O. and Fannie Oliphant.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ of Ferriday.

Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Miles; her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ruby Mae Seymour Clingan

MANGHAM, La. -- Services for Ruby Mae Seymour, 90, of Mangham, who died Friday, July 19, 2002, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mangham First Baptist Church under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.

Burial will follow in Gwin cemetery in Mangham.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Clingan was a homemaker.

Eric B. O'Steen

March 22, 1963 - March 6, 2003

JONESVILLE, La. - Services for Eric B. O'Steen, 39, of Alton, Ill., and formerly of Jonesville, who died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Christain Hospitals Northeast in St. Louis, will be held Thursday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. B.K. Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Old Mount Olive cemetery under the direction of Tennant Funeral Home of Rayville, La.

Mr. O'Steen was born March 22, 1963, in Utility, La., the son of Robert O'Steen Jr. and Joanna O'Steen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Calvin O'Steen and Reginald O'Steen.

Survivors include two daughters, LeQuanda Bowman of Baton Rouge and Trina Cummings of Winnsboro; one son, Antoine Cummings of Jonesville; four brothers, Johnny R. O'Steen, Joseph O'Steen and Kennel O'Steen, all of Jonesville, and Robert O'Steen of Bangor, Mich.; three sisters, Louise O'Steen of Alton and Carol O'Steen and Betty O'Steen, both of Jonesville.

Pallbearers will be Harry Edwards, Earl Nicholson, Crownie Harbor, Nicholas O'Steen, Kyle Hickman and David White.

Bobby Hudnall

Oct. 10, 1946 - March 7, 2003

JONESVILLE, La. - Services for Bobby Hudnall, 56, of Jonesville, who died Friday, March 7, 2003, in Alexandria, will be at 2 p.m. today at Wallace Ridge Baptist Church, near Jonesville with the Rev. Lester Johnson and the Rev. Mickey Hudnall officiating.

Burial will follow in Hedrick cemetery in Eva under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be held until service time Sunday at the church.

Mr Hudnall was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Jonesville, the son of Rufus Marion and Edna Marie Hudnall.

He was a lineman for Concordia Electric Corp. for 15 years and was a member of Wallace Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Hudnall.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Hendrick Hudnall; one son, Scott Hudnall of Baton Rouge; his mother, Edna Marie Hudnall of Jonesville; two brothers, Marion Hudnall and Kenneth Hudnall, both of Jonesville; one sister, Ginger Juneau, Livingston; and two grandchildren, Jordan Hudnall of Jonesville, and Seth Hudnall of Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers will be Ivan Hudnall, Cully Hudnall, David Hedrick, Ronnie Lewis, Aaron Shermer and Richard Woodie.

Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Huffman, Mickey Hudnall and Billy Harris.
