MARGARET CARTER
Margaret Louise O’Daniel Carter, 83, of Danville died Tuesday, January 25, 2011.
Born June 10, 1927, in Loretto, she was the daughter of Charles and Virgie Downs O’Daniel.
Margaret was a homemaker and the widow of Cleo Marshall Carter. A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, she was involved in the Altar Society and the Luncheon Bells. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress and made many of the linens for tables and special occasions at the church.
She is survived by: two daughters, Marsha (Glenn) Hurst of Harrodsburg, Saundra “Sam” (Butch) Brown of Radcliff; and two sons, Jerry W. (Missy) Carter of Glasgow and Scott (Nichole) Carter of Lexington; two sisters, Beatrice Russell of New Haven and Regina Downs of Bardstown; six grandchildren, Erica Hurst, Lisa Hurst (Eric) Keller, Kellie Brown (Jim) Lee, Steve (Lindsay) Brown, Spencer Carter and Holly-Ann Carter. and four great-grandchildren, Brock Keller, Aniston Keller, Max Lee and Abbie Lee.
The funeral mass was conducted Friday, January 28, at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Father Tom Farrell will be the celebrant. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

MARIE CASTLE
Marie Pearl Castle, 89, of Lancaster, widow of Warren Harding Castle, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at the Thomson Hood Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Wilmore.
Born Aug. 15, 1921 in TN, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Clyde and Nettie Robinson Thomas. She served during World War II in the U. S. Navy, was a retired nurse and member of the Indian Hills Christian Church, Danville.
She is survived by a son: Thomas (Teresa) Castle of Lancaster; a sister: Sue Reece of PA; a brother: Everett (Jone) Thomas of TN; three grandchildren: Nicole Marie Castle, Sara Jean (Clay) Slone, and Laura Bea (Chris) Releford; and eight great-grandchildren; and two sister-in-laws.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 1 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lance Ladd and Odis Clark officiating. Burial was in Boone, NC.

MACKLIN CORNETT
Macklin Cornett, 51, of Danville, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born February 24, 1959 in Perry County, he was a son of the late Boyd and Bonnie Marie Hollbrook Cornett.
He was a previous janitor for SDS.
Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Cornett of Danville; one son, Macklin Aaron (Tabitha) Cornett of Junction City; three daughters, Melissa (Gerald) Downs of Danville, Mavis (Mark Goins) Cornett and Jessica (Bobby Moore) Cornett of Harrodsburg; brothers, Frank, David and William (Diane) Cornett; sisters, Hazel (Ottis) Adams, Mavis (Bill) Stidham and Avis Lawson; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no service. Cremation rights will be honored.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses.
WALTER DENNY, JR.
H. Walter Denny Jr., 81, husband of Louise Haag Denny of Granville, OH, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH.
`Born Jan. 25, 1930 in Burgin, he was the son of the late Henderson Walter and Mary B. Hawkins Denny. He graduated from Burgin High School and the University of Kentucky. He was a retired district manager for J. C. Penney Co. and served upon a U.S. Naval aircraft carrier during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
`Survivors in addition to his wife are, a son: Douglas (Lisa) Denny of Pickerington, OH; a daughter: Lisa (Jeff) McInturf of Newark, OH; a brother: Ernest Denny of MD; a sister: Lucille Hawthorne of Burgin; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Cecil and Stanley “Pete” Denny.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating his life, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the College Town House, 334 E. Broadway, Granville, OH. Arrangements are in the care of McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home in Granville, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wood Samaritans c/o C.U.M.C., 102 E. Broadway, Granville, OH 43023.
WILLIAM MOBLEY
William Curtis Mobley, 81, of Williamsburg, husband of Helen Jean Beckum Mobley, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin.
Born March 8, 1929 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Hollis C. and Gladys Perkins Mobley. He was a US Navy Veteran, a retired self-employed lobster fisherman and a member of the First Baptist Church of Islamorada in the Florida Keys.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Teresa Randle of Williamsburg, Sue Cox of Nicholasville and Una (Billy) Jackson of TN; two sons: William Allen (Carol) Mobley of Lawrenceburg and Donnie (Barbara) Mobley of Harrodsburg; a sister: Roxie Jackson of Harrodsburg; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Aaron Mobley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Jason Fields, William Mobley, Corky Jacobs, Nick Jackson, David Mobley, Jay Mobley, William Randle, Robert Jacobs, Carroll Perkins, Jerry Huffman and Jim McGlone.
Visitation will be today (Thursday, Feb. 3, 2010) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

JUDITH POWELL
Judith Powell, 63, widow of Kenneth Lester Powell, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at her residence.
Born January 14, 1948 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Anna Pearl Devine Noel. She was retired from Powell Oil Company in Harrodsburg and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son: Mark Noel Powell of Harrodsburg; two daughters: Kendra Joy (Randy) Connelly of Salvisa and Leigh Ann Robinson of Harrodsburg; two brothers: Buford (Betty) Noel and Bruce (Glenda) Noel, all of Harrodsburg; and six grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Bro. Arnold Moon and Rick Snyder officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Noel, Donald Logue, Darrell Noel, Tommy Dale Collard, Jeff Stumph, and Randy Connelly.
RALPH RANSDELL
Ralph E. Ransdell, 72, of Salvisa, widower of Beatrice Cosby Ransdell, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1938 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Samuel Julian and Flora Etta Walters Ransdell. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include: a brother: C. H. (Sandra) Ransdell of Indianapolis, IN; two nieces: Roxanna (George) Moody and Kathleen (Mark) French; and a great nephew: Mitchell French.
Celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Visitation is 12 noon until the hour of service.
Memorials are suggested to one’s favorite charity.
SANDRA SABO
Sandra Lee Hutchinson Sabo, 63, wife of Tony Sabo Jr. of Jenkins, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Letcher Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 9, 1947 in Chapmanville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lucas Gray and Herma Louise Beckett Hutchinson. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Myra.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Michael Anthony (Shellie) Sabo and Cari Suzanne (Drew) Rice; one brother: Charles Hutchinson; one sister: Marion Morgan; and two grandchildren: Megan Delaney Rice and Ashley Paige Rice.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at the Faith Baptist Church in Myra.

STERLING TAPP
Sterling Thomas Tapp, 81, of Louisville, formally of Harrodsburg and Springfield, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, after a long illness.
A native of Springfield, he was born on May 1, 1929, to the late William and Berry Thompson Tapp.
Amongst his many accomplishments, Sterling was a decorated Korean War Veteran, a partner with his wife at The Tapp’s Store in Harrodsburg, and was instrumental for the restoration of Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill. He retired from Union Underwear Company.
Survivors include: one daughter, Anne-Berry T.(Thomas) O’Brien of Trevor, WI; two sons, S. Parker (Susan) Tapp of Mullins, S.C. and Finley M. (Chris) Tapp of Louisville; five grandchildren, Matthew Mader, Townsley Tapp, Kelly Tapp, Caitlin Tapp and Madison Tapp; one great-grandchild, John Sterling Mader; one sister, Berry (Steve) Varble of Clarksville, IN; and four brothers, Dudley (Georgia Mae) Tapp of Springfield, William (Doris) Tapp of Elizabethtown, Dr. Jimmy (Delores) Tapp of Elizabethtown and Jack (Gayla) Tapp of Springfield, a 1947 graduate of Springfield High School.
Sterling was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Johnnye Kelly Tapp; his parents; and one sister, Nell Litsey Tapp.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 24, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery
with Bro. Chad Broaddus, a great nephew, officiating. military rite were conducted at the gravesite by the Marion County Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Mader, Charles Dudley Tapp, Joseph Tapp, Billy Tapp, Jack Tapp and Travis Varble.

ETHEL WARFORD
Ethel I. Warford, of Versailles, formerly of Midway and widow of William T. Warford, passed away Saturday January 29, 2011.
She is survived by: three daughters, Jennifer (Tony) Blair, Harrodsburg, Margaret (Carroll) Sallee, Washington County and Patsy (David) Burgin, Midway; two sons, John Warford, Versailles and Robert (Pam) Warford, Burgin; three sisters, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son George Warford, a sister and a brother.
Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, February 1, at the Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, officiated by Brother Gary Maynard. Burial was in Midway Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Tommy Newton, Willis Hawkins, John McClain, Chris Blair, Richard and James Wright.

CECIL ABNEY
Cecil Abney 69, of Mt. Vernon died Monday January 31, 2011 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
He was born on March 6, 1941 in Rockcastle County the son of the late Lester and Dorothy Abney.
He was a stone mason, a farmer, and enjoyed hunting fishing, story telling, and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Sybil Day Abney of Mt. Vernon; one son, Alan Abney of Lexington; one step-son, Bill Ramsey of Mt.Vernon; three step-daughters, Jennifer Malan of Whitesburg, Linda Horn of Lexington and Carol Ervin of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Jack Abney of Colby WI, Kenneth Abney of Brodhead, and Glen Abney of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Mrs. Gail DeLeon of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren, Jessica and Stephen Abney; and one step-granddaughter, Racheal Sexton.
He was preceded in death by: one brother; Virgil Abney.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday February 2, at the Cox Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon
Funeral Service were conducted Thursday February 3, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Vernon.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery
AARON CUNNINGHAM
Aaron Byford Cunningham, 87, widower of Louise Durr Cunninghman, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at his residence.
Born Nov. 6, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Mary Edwards and David Ray Cunningham. He was a retired maintenance employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation, a former well driller and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Tech Sergeant during WWII. He was a member of Claylick United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son: Warren (Nancy) Cunningham of Lawrenceburg; two daughters: Debbie (Darrell) Childers of SC and Paula (Jeff Hauk) Cunningham of VA; a sister: Jewell (Hubert) Sparrow of Lawrenceburg; two grandsons; a step-grandson; and a great-grandson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Annell Wing and two brothers: Buford Cunningham and Wilda “Bill” Cunningham.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011) 1 p.m. at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Jerry Bennett and Pastor Anthony Cleary officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation was 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011.
Pallbearers are: Brian Wesley, James David Cunningham, O. H. Gritton Jr., Tom Moore, Julian R. Thomas and Scott Satterly. Members of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Claylick United Methodist Church will serve as honorary bearers.
