ELIZABETH PADGETT
Elizabeth Ann “Pug” Bolling Padgett, 65, of Brodhead died Nov. 5, 2010.
Born August 13, 1945, she was the daughter of Charles and Mildred Underwood Bolling.
She was a respiratory therapist at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Moreland Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Padgett.
Survivors include: two daughters, Charlotte Smith (Tim Crowe) of Lexington and Diana (Stanley) Payne of Brodhead; two sisters, Nancy Lay of Parksville and Terry Shaffer of Danville; three grandchildren, Cassie Dowell, Cody Smith, and Courtney Payne; and one great-grandchild, Levi Smith.
Services were conducted Monday, November 8, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland by Rev. David Smith with burial in Danville Memorial Gardens.

LLOYD PICKETT
Lloyd V. Pickett, Sr., 86, husband of 62 years to Betty Jo Royse Pickett, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville. Born March 4, 1924 in Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Albert Ray and Elizabeth Fredrick Pickett, Sr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific. He was a retired farm equipment salesman for Mayes & Sims Equipment Company and was a member and deacon of Burgin Christian Church. He was a farmer, an avid coon hunter, a Life Member of VFW Post 6935, and a member of the American Legion Post 52.
Besides his wife, He is survived by three sons: Lloyd V. (Sandi) Pickett, Jr. of Harrodsburg, Bill (Crystal) Pickett of Lawrenceburg, and Allen (Tami) Pickett of Lancaster. One daughter Ann P. (Eli) Miller of Lexington, one brother Carl B. (Mitzi) Pickett of Tucson, AZ, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Pickett Shearer and Louise Pickett O’Connell, and one brother A. R. “Bud” Pickett, Jr.
Services were conducted Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Strange and Rev. Mandye Yates officiating. He was buried in Camp Nelson National Cemetery
with military Honors. John Harlow, Gene Waller, Paul Waller, Mark Royse, David Royse, and Brent Johnson served as active Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the George VanArsdall Men’s Sunday School Class at Burgin Christian Church, and Frank Carter, Burtis Lewis, Warren Wilson, Jim Garrison, and Mike Trent.

RODNEY SALLEE
Rodney T. Sallee, 56, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 in Anderson County. Born July 5, 1954 in Mercer County, he was the son of Anna J. Snipes Sallee of Harrodsburg and the late Rue Edwin Sallee, Sr. He was a self-employed handyman and attended Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his mother include one brother Rue Edwin Sallee, Jr. of Harrodsburg, five sisters: Mildred (Gerald) Thompson of Shelbyville, Pam Sallee Devine of Harrodsburg, Patricia (Bobby) Carrier of Harrodsburg, Peggy (Bobby) Ross of Burgin, and Sherry (Earl) Robbins of Harrodsburg. Twelve nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by one nephew Travis Devine.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Matthew Robbins officiating. No visitation will be held.
GLENDA TERHUNE
Glenda Sutherland Terhune, 70, Harrodsburg, widow of Harry “Sonny” Terhune III, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born September 15, 1940 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Hester (Pankey) Elliott. She was a nurse’s aide and a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: a sister: Wilma Turner of Springfield; sister in law, Mary Lee Elliott, Harrodsburg, She was predeceased by her brother: Bill Elliott.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 11 at the Spring Hill Cemetery
by Nelson Reynolds with burial to follow.
Pallbearers are: Leland Turner, Lynden Turner, Bill Elliott, Steve Elliott, Austin Elliott, Pete Elliott Jr. and Lisa Owens.
THELMA WHITE
Thelma “Galbaby” May White , passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at the U.K. Markey Cancer Center.
Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Beckham Foster and Katherine F. Collins.
She was retired from the V.A. Medical Center. She was a member of the V.F.W. and a KY Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Foster.
Survivors include: two children, Larry (Sherry) White of Harrodsburg and Kathy (Dean) Marcum of Lexington; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Grose of Versailles and Betty (Richard) Raider of Lexington.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 10, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road, Lexington. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

THOMAS WINCHESTER
Thomas Eugene Winchester, age 81 of Somerset, departed this life on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 3, 1929 in Jacksonville, IL to the late James R. and Dona A. Miller Winchester.
Mr. Winchester was a foreman for Dallas Dean Construction Company in Harrodsburg, a United States Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Monticello. He loved turkey shoots, hunting, flea markets, and fishing.
Mr. Winchester is survived by: his wife, Gladys Hurt Winchester, whom he married on February 5, 1984 in Monticello; a son, Larry (Wendy) Winchester of Monticello; a stepson, Stanley (Joetta) Burnette of Somerset; two daughters, June (Mark) Decker of Bronston, KY and Willa Jean Foster (Sonny Parris) of Monticello; two stepdaughters, Donna (and Kenny) Bottoms of Danville and Wilma (Jeff) Masoner of Somerset; a brother, Johnny (Sandra) Winchester of Monticello; six sisters, Lela Smith, Maxine Coffey, Anna Belle Shelton, Lorene (and Clifford) Slagle, and Betty Abbott, all of Monticello and Margaret (Leroy) Anderson of Monroe, GA; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis and Ray Winchester.
Funeral service was held at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating. Burial was in Elk Springs Cemetery
in Monticello.
HAZEL ZODY
Hazel Keightley Zody, 101, of Louisville, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at the Camelot Golden Living Center-Louisville.
Born August 5, 1909 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late George and Ora (Hatchett) Keightley. She was bookkeeper for Royalty-Keightley Lumber Co. for 42 years and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Zody of Louisville, three grandchildren, Mike M. (Karen) Zody, G. Mark (Theresa) Zody, and Karen (Mark) Waiz; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Zody.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 9 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and officiated by Wayne Spivey. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

MARY CAREY
Mary Mae Pittman Carey, age 78, of Main Street, Mackville, passed away at 12:35 a.m., Monday, November010 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.
She was born on July 15, 1932 to the late Sylvester Lee and Cordie Turpin Pittman.
Survivors include: one daughter, Frances Yaste of Lebanon; and a son, Ray Sims of Lebanon.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 10 at Carey & Son Funeral Home in Spingfield with Rev. John Bentley, former pastor of the Battle Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Battle Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Joseph Byrd, Scott Byrd, Okie Lewis, Mike Yankey, Jeff Sagracy and Tommy Pittman.
J. C. CATLETT
J. C. Catlett, 88, husband of the late Lillie B. Catlett died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center in Harrodsburg. Born June 23, 1922 in Mercer County, He was the son of the late Ansel and Gertie B. Devine Catlett. He was a farmer, a former employee of Hayslett Mechanical Contractors and the State Road Department and a member of the Benton Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son: Bruce (Freda) Catlett of Mercer County, one grandchild: Scarlett (Brad) Ingram, two great-grandchildren: Hannah and Kelli Ingram and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Laverne Collier and Alma Faye Best.
The funeral was Monday, Nov. 15, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Doug Strader and Tim Gray officiating. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery
with Tony Best, Terry Sallee, June Collier, Bob Burchett, Bill Beavers and David Warner serving as Pallbearers.
DORA ESTES
Dora Elizabeth Pulliam Estes, 86, widow of John Estes, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010. Born Oct. 3, 1924 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Zack and Roberta League Pulliam. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W., was a retired Mercer Dress Employee and a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters: Martha Monroe and Patsy (Bill) Harrison both of Burgin, and one son Danny (Sharon) Hisle of Pennsylvania . Six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: James Pulliam and George Pulliam and three sisters: Nancy Huffman, Elsie Davis, and Virginia Frantom.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Geoff Barrett officiating. Burial was in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery
with Joe Monroe, Lee Monroe, Tony Harrison, Matthew Monroe, and Hunter Harrison serving as Pallbearers.

HATTIE KINTER
Hattie Marie Kinter, age 80, a resident of Edgemont Healthcare, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lexington, May 15, 1930, to the late Robert L. and Margaret Ella Green Williams, she was a retired clerk.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Redmond Evans, Malon Evans, Chick Williams, Harold Williams, Bill Williams and Dean Williams and a sister, Nancy Gaunce.
She is survived by: her partner, Chris Kinter; a son, Thomas Lee (Ann) Williams, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Joy Marie Phillips, Lexington, Janice Ann (Paul) Abner, Harrodsburg and Ann Marie (Troy) Brewer, Berry and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 13, at the Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Gary McQuain. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
JESSE LAYTON
Jesse Day “J. D.” Layton, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at his residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1932, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Hobart M. Layton and Virgie Mae Montgomery Layton.
He was a farmer and retired after 20 years as a machine operator at Matthews Conveyor Co. J.D. was a gardener, a fisherman and loved animals. He was a member of the Baptist church.
J.D. is survived by: his wife, Anna Young Layton; a son, Eddie Layton of Danville; a daughter, Cynthia Layton (Ray) Hammond of Danville; two brothers, Vance M. (Mildred) Layton of Mercer County and Russell S. (Judy) Layton of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Doris O. Layton of Rome, GA; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Corcoran (Alex) Griffin, Katherine Corcoran (Brad) Williams, Jesse Day (Jennifer) Layton and Christopher Layton Corcoran; three great-grandchildren, Jeslynn Brooke Layton, Jeran Day Layton and Anna Claire Williams.
He was predeceased by a brother, James H. Layton.
A graveside service was conducted Friday, November 12, at Bellevue Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy Valentine officiated.
Pallbearers were Jesse Layton, Christopher Corcoran, Alex Griffin, Brad Williams, Ronnie Hume and Ronnie Lee.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
